<p>The purpose of this study is to find learners’ perceptions of online English learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has made closure to schools and universities all over the world and online learning is a way of constraining the spread of COVID-19 virus. The study used a descriptive method by surveying 108 students from Management and Informatics programs of Institut Bisnis &amp; Informatika Kosgoro 1957 (IBI K57). The data were collected through questionnaires by instruments consisting of learners’ perceptions about the effectiveness of learning English online, the accessibility of internet during English online learning, the technical performance of lecturers to teach English online, and the level of difficulty of language skills to learn online. The validity of the questionnaire was tested by using expert opinions. The results of the study indicated shifting face-to-face learning to online learning particularly for English classes is also an effective way during the pandemic, the accessibility of the internet in online learning, it is an important factor should exist during learning activities, the students assumed positively that most lecturers know how to teach English online learning by using online platforms used in IBI K57, and the learners perceived that listening section is the most difficult skill to learn in online English class. The study implied that online learning is an important alternative way to help teaching and learning in the situation of the pandemic, it considers using proper technology, quality, and instructors’ competence to enhance and to encourage learners engaged in online learning environment.</p>

COVID-19 has an impact on all levels of education in Indonesia and has a major impact on early childhood, where the teaching and learning process needs to be done face-to-face, but due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the government's policy of face-to-face learning and online learning is carried out. Researchers conducting this research are interested in the learning strategies used by educators during the COVID-19 pandemic so that they can become a reference for parents in guiding children to learn online. The effect of learning for early childhood is difficulty in understanding explanations from educators, lack of socialization in children's lives because schools are held online, children's development and growth has decreased, children's achievement indicators will decrease. Online learning for children aged during this pandemic is not optimal because it has obstacles, namely COVID-19, which is the reason children experience the impact of learning at home. The research method used qualitative research to describe the findings in the field and then processed the data. The data collection techniques in the research that have been carried out are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this research are so that parents can guide, supervise and become a place for children's education in the family. Parents have a very big responsibility in educating and guiding children's learning online, the success of children's learning will be determined by parents if parents provide stimulation or guide when learning online.

The sophisticated information and technology (IT) development can be the answer for various problems post the covid-19 pandemic, particularly the teaching and learning challenges. The role of IT that is booming nowadays is online learning. Online learning is obviously different from regular learning. In this mode of learning, the students are required to have the ability to receive and process information. It serves as media that connect teachers and students who are being remote from one another at any time and anyplace. There are various media utilized to perform online learning such as WhatsApp, Google Meet, Zoom, Google Classroom, and other e-learning platforms. Among all these media, though, WhatsApp apparently appointed as the simplest and easiest media to access in all levels of education. Online learning at current is the effective medium to carry on the teaching and learning process in all levels of education. For the effectiveness of online teaching and learning process during the covid-19 pandemic, there have been a number of learning models suggested by the expert such as remote learning, face to face learning, e-learning, project-based learning, and Blended Learning.

This research examines various aspects, including: student learning activities, problems during learning, to learning solutions at SD Muhammadiyah 5 Porong in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. In the research process using data collection techniques by means of interview, observation, photos and videos when the research process was carried out. This study aims to obtain information regarding the strategies being carried out at SD Muhammadiyah 5 Porong in learning in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. This research method uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The existence of the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in the teaching and learning process now being shifted to online learning. Online learning is a solution to solving educational problems due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. The offline method is also applied through face-to-face learning and continues to carry out obligations by complying with health protocols. Such is the learning conducted at SD Muhammadiyah 5 Porong. By using the online method and the offline method which is applied at SD Muhammadiyah 5 Porong amidst the current learning problems with the state of Indonesia affected by Covid-19.

After two months of online learning, students of Sai Gon University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam could gain recognition of benefits and drawbacks of online learning in comparison with face-to-face learning. This article shows which learning mode was preferred more and the reasons by students of the university through a survey of 180 undergraduates from six general English classes. As a result, the number of participants who chose face-to-face mode was the same as that of who preferred online learning. The explanations of face-to-face learning voters were face-to-face interactions, less distraction factors, better environment for communication skill practice and more various learning activities. Flexibility of learning place and time, comfort and accessible online materials and lecture notes were the reasons for the online learning voters. A few participants could not decide their favorite mode of learning since both had their own outstanding benefits.

Various sectors have been affected by the Covid-l9 pandemic, including education. Many institutions have not yet applied face-to-face learning in full to prevent the transmission of the virus. The aims of this study are (1) to examine the motivation of EAP learners to learn IELTS in online and offline classes during a pandemic on an English course, and (2) to identify changes in student motivation during the learning process that are affected by the pandemic situation. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a sampling technique in which students are sampled randomly. As many as 10 students have been taken as participants. Furthermore, a questionnaire has been used as a data collection method, and it has been shared through Google Forms. It consists of 25 statements divided based on intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The result of it has been classified based on four learning motivation aspects by Gowing’s theory. Overall, the findings revealed that three of the four aspects of learning motivation are medium-level (49,4%) in this case. In conclusion, there is no substantial motivation for EAP pupils in the English learning process, specifically for IELTS in online and offline sessions, for an ongoing pandemic.

Learning activity during public activity restrictions at Muhammadiyah Elementary School, Taman Sub-district, Sidoarjo Regency, is carried out through online learning; however, teachers at SD Muhammadiyah Taman continue to face a number of challenges in this teaching and learning activity. This research aims to examine online learning implementation during the public activity restrictions. There are still many teachers who lack an understanding of science and technology, let alone old or traditional teachers who make online learning uninteresting. This research applied the survey research method. Data were collected using an open questionnaire accessible via Google Forms. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. There were 97 teachers at SD Muhammadiyah Taman who filled out the questionnaire. Based on the questionnaire responses, 70.1% had implemented online learning. The issue during online learning was that many students did not have their own mobile phones or laptops because their siblings were still using them for online learning or their parents were still using them for work, so teachers felt that the material presented could not be fully absorbed by the students. Meanwhile, parents struggled with not being able to control their children when learning at home, which differed from face-to-face learning at school

This study aims to determine whether or not there is an effect of using the blended learning strategy in Math online learning via WhatsApp and zoom. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results obtained indicate that online learning using the WhatsApp and zoom application with the blended learning strategy during the Covid-19 pandemic can provide more enjoyable learning so as to increase student enthusiasm and activity. The conclusion obtained from this study is that the use of the blended learning strategy affects online math learning via WhatsApp and zoom can be an alternative in online biology learning via Whatsapp in conditions that do not allow face-to-face learning

Online learning has been becoming a solution for schools, institutions, and universities that cannot run face-to-face learning. During the online learning process, there are challenges that stakeholders including teachers and lecturers often face. One of the challenges is in choosing assessment techniques which in this case is related to English learning assessment. Thus, the objective of this study is to elaborate some effective techniques for English learning assessment. Qualitative research was applied as a research design conducted at the English Education Department of the Institute for Islamic Studies of Padangsidimpuan. Ten lecturers of the English Department were chosen purposively as respondents and interview was used as a data collection technique. Then, data were analyzed through qualitative data analysis in which the data were described and elaborated in detailed ways. The findings revealed that there were many techniques that could be applied in English assessment methods. Among the methods are online tests using Google form application, discussion, and problem-solving, writing essays and summary, online presentation, multimedia presentation, mini-research, voice thread, storytelling, recording performance, online interview, and making content on social media. The study also unveiled that lecturers’ creativity is needed to create an objective and effective assessment for online learning.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had many impacts on various sectors. One of them is the education sector. Education is also feeling the impact that has occurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic. SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Porong is one of the schools that has felt its impact. Therefore, this research was conducted to find out adaptations, learning strategies, innovations, and efforts faced by schools in implementing distance learning carried out by teachers who teach at SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Porong during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine the learning strategies carried out during online learning activities and face-to-face learning activities carried out during the pandemic. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods, data collection techniques in this study using interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this study are that there are many challenges faced by SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Porong in carrying out online learning, During the pandemic teaching and learning activities at SMP Muhammadiyah are carried out online, the learning method during online delivery of learning uses internet media such as zoom, google meet, and an application called etmodo. In addition, there are teachers who have less competence in the fields of technology and information in learning, students are undisciplined when conducting online learning, and demands to always have internet quotas that burden students. The solutions include conducting workshops, seminars, and training for teachers related to technology and information used in online learning, as well as carrying out teaching and learning activities that were originally online to face-to-face so that learning is more effective to be carried out while still implementing health and psychological protocol distancing. In this way, it is hoped that teaching and learning activities can run well.

Before the arrival of the Covid 19 virus epidemic, the government actually launched the industry 4.0 and 5.0 revolutions, including in the field of education where the use of technology as a medium or instrument in learning can be maximized to use. However, most of teacher and students were not able to conduct yet. When this epidemic comes, it can’t help using technology in the field of education ready or not. The government's policy to execute large-scale social restrictions or PSBB to prevent the transmission of the epidemic has made the implementation of the teaching and learning process online starting from elementary level to university. However, every change certainly causes pros and cons. There are both positive and negative sides to online learning. The positive side can make it easier and more efficient for face-to-face learning to be done from home anytime and anywhere. Meanwhile, the problems that arise include a lack of understanding in the use of technology, inadequate internet network facilities and many more effects as a result of this online learning. Therefore, this article discusses the phenomena that occur around education caused by the impact of the outbreak in the middle of the Covid 19 pandemic.
