Physiologically assessing the functional state of the body of doctors in children's medical organizations

Introduction. Increased nervous and emotional loads in doctors of children's medical organizations are caused by frequent stressful effects, shift work mode. The study of the features of the formation of the functional state of the body of surgeons will make it possible to scientifically justify measures to prevent overstrain to preserve the health of employees. The aim of study is to research the functional state of the body of doctors of children's medical organizations with a shift work schedule to justify and develop measures for physiological and hygienic optimization of work. Materials and methods. Complex physiological and hygienic studies included occupational analysis of labor activity, physiological studies of the state of the Central nervous system (CNS) and the cardiovascular system with the study of the features of response to functional loads (ECG recording on a 12-channel electrocardiograph and continuously using Holter monitoring). Results. The study of the features and degree of adequacy of the cardiovascular system's response to dosed physical activity revealed the tension of the regulatory mechanisms of the circulatory system with a pronounced increase in heart activity in surgeons during night hours. Conclusions. Stable indicators of CNS functions (concentration of attention, etc.) were established during various shifts, due to the requirements of the work itself, adverse changes in the cardiovascular system, more pronounced during the night shift, deterioration of ECG changes to functional load, which indicates a decrease in the functional capabilities of the myocardium.

The article provides the results of determining the level of physical development of the 1th-2nd course students of design specialties of the College of Construction, Architecture and Design. The physical development of students was determined by indicators of harmony of the bodybuilding (Kettle index 2), functional state of the cardiovascular system (Ruffier index), and respiratory system (Stange test). Length and weight of the body, heart rate, breathing delay time were measured. As a result of the researches, the “average” level of the physical development is determined in the 1th-2nd course girls and “sufficient” - in boys. Thus, mass-growth indicators of students according to the calculation of Kettle 2 index, both boys and girls correspond to the assessment of 5 points, which indicates a harmonious physique of students; indicators of the functioning of the cardiovascular system (Ruffier Index) of 1st year boys and the 2nd year students make 2 points, which corresponds to the ”below average” level, and the results of the 1st year girls equal to the assessment of 3 points, “average” level; indicators of the functional state of the respiratory system (Stange test) of boys of the 1th-2nd  course correspond to the assessment of 4 points (“above the average” level), and girls of both courses - 3 points (“average” level). In the age and gender aspects, physical development indicators, in general, don’t significantly differ with the general tendency to increase results with age and the dominance of boys over such in girls. The exception is the Ruffier index, where there is an opposite trend - the results decrease with age in girls and they are higher than in boys. Thus, the results of the research indicate the feasibility of introducing the 1th-2nd course students of professional pre-high education of special physical exercises into the process of physical education to improve the functional state of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

An indicators analysis of the first-graders functional state and vegetative homeostasis obtained in the initial period of adaptation to the educational environment revealed gender differences in the rates of the adaptation process to new learning conditions. It has been established that girls’ adaptation mechanisms turn on earlier than boys’, with their similar orientation. The article provides an experimental justification of the indicators use legitimacy for heart rate variability to assess the functional state of the body in the acute period of adaptation to the educational environment. The importance of teacher physiological literacy for the optimization of the educational process is substantiated. The results of the study are convincing evidence of the knowledge importance for the physiological foundations of the occurrence and course of physiological and mental processes, stable individual psycho-physiological characteristics for the organization of the learning environment, corresponding to the functional capabilities of the body. This argument is also confirmed by many years of experience among master students key competencies development, which allow using such an objective criterion as the current functional state of the body to ensure, through the joint efforts of parents, teachers, psychologists, and doctors, the correction of the educational environment and psycho-physiological resistance of individual to it. The established differences in the dynamics of heart rate variability indicators for girls and boys can be used to form a health-saving program in school settings.

Aim. The aim of this study was to assess eating behavior in the groups of women who are working on different, unchanged shifts as well as identifying differences in the consumption of nutrients that may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.Material and Methods. The study was carried out among 300 randomly selected women working in a permanent shift (morning, afternoon, night). In the study, the assessment of the daily intake was carried out using 24-h dietary recall. Anthropometric measurements were carried out to assess the nutritional status. The interview regarding the food consumption was complemented by dietary questionnaire about selected lifestyle parameters contributing to the development of cardiovascular disease and the type of their work.Results. The body mass index (BMI) in all groups was within the adequate values. The analysis of waist to hip ratio (WHR) showed that in the morning and night shift, was exceeded the adequate values recommended in the prevention of cardiovascular disease (WHR = 0.83 ± 0.1 in both groups). The analysis of the daily food rations of women revealed disparities regarding nutritional recommendations. Statistically significant differences in protein and saccharose intake were observed (p > 0.05). The average vitamin D content in the daily food rations of women was insufficient (average 1.4 µg per day); however, it was not statistically significant.Conclusions. The shift work system was influence on eating behaviors in study women. In particular in women which were worked on the night shift, which may contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease in the future.

It is noted that they contribute to the acquisition of the experience of creative practical activities, the development of physical qualities, increase in functional capabilities of the body, instill in students the skills of independent study and self-control, contribute to the formation of skills to control the functional state of the body of persons engaged in carrying out self-study of physical training.

The cardiovascular system is one of the most important functional systems of the body, which determine the level of physical performance of the body. Insufficient study of the response of the circulatory system to the combination of strength training with endurance exercises requires more detailed comparative studies of the impact of dynamic and static loads on the indicators of central hemodynamics. Accordingly, the aim of our study was to study the characteristics of the reaction of the cardiovascular system in the period of early recovery after dosed exercise of a dynamic and static nature. The study examined the response of the central hemodynamics of young men in the period of early recovery after dynamic loading (Martine functional test) and static loading (holding on the stand dynamometer DS-200 force with a power of 50% of maximum standing force). The change in circulatory system parameters was recorded using a tetrapolar thoracic impedance rheoplethysmogram on a computerized diagnostic complex “Cardio +”. It is established that the dynamic load in the period of early recovery does not cause a significant positive chronotropic effect, leads to a decrease in vascular resistance of blood flow, to an increase in pulse blood pressure. The increase in cardiac output is mainly due to the increase in stroke volume, which indicates a fairly high functional reserves of the heart. It is revealed that under conditions of static loading the reaction of central hemodynamics and the course of early recovery are radically different from the changes of indicators under dynamic loading. In persons with a normodynamic type of reaction to dynamic load, there are no significant changes in the minute volume of blood at a similar volume of active muscle mass static load. Meeting the metabolic needs of working skeletal muscles and compensating for the oxygen debt is realized by increasing the total peripheral vascular resistance and increasing systolic blood pressure in the postpartum period. The physiological meaning of this phenomenon is to maintain a sufficient level of venous return of blood to ensure the pumping function of the heart.

Background: One of the main negative factors of the educational environment is the increased stress impact on the cardiovascular system of students preparing for examinations. The cumulative effect of a long-term, systematic exposure to stressors may be accompanied by impaired mental and somatic health of students. The extent of response to stress is individual; it is usually determined by cardiovascular health and a complex of psychophysiological characteristics of the body. Objective: To study the main parameters of central hemodynamics in medical students depending on the body mass index and adaptive potential in the pre-examination study period Materials and methods: In spring–summer 2019, 170 medical students (young men and women aged 20.4 ± 0.3 years) with different adaptive potential of the circulatory system were surveyed during a pre-exam study period to establish their anthropometric indicators, blood pressure and heart rate and to further estimate the body mass index and the main central hemodynamics parameters. Results: The average heart rate of students during the pre-exam study period was 85.4 ± 12.21 beats per minute. The level of metabolic and energy processes in the myocardium was characterized as moderate with a tendency to insufficient functional capacity of the cardiovascular system (CI = 90.4 ± 1.22). Significant differences were revealed in a number of parameters un-der study depending on gender, body mass index (F = 3.99; p = 0.00890) and the adaptive potential of the circulatory system (F = 23.08; p = 0.00000). Conclusions: In the pre-examination study period, both the heart rate and the Kerdo index among the students were elevated, which indicates the predominance of sympathetic autonomic stress. The students with tense adaptation mechanisms demonstrated higher values of certain hemodynamic parameters. The pulse pressure and the Robinson index were higher in overweight students compared to their peers with a normal body mass index. None of the students with class 1 obesity had a satisfactory level of adaptation of the circulatory system. The analysis of central hemodynamic parameters enables the assessment of tolerance of the cardiovascular system of students to the burden of learning.

Abstract. Introduction. Professional selection of workers in extreme occupations associated with increased danger and responsibility is an important task of labor physiology. The study of psychomotor skills under conditions of acute stress, the assessment of the physiological reactions of the cardiovascular system will determine the professional suitability of candidates for various specialties (technical or intellectual-analytical). Purpose of work. The study of diagnostic methodological approaches to assessing the professional suitability of persons in hazardous professions in psychophysiological professional selection. Materials and methods. Psychophysiological studies included the study of psychomotor skills, psychological testing according to the MMIL and 16 FLO tests, physiological studies of hemodynamic features in candidates with different resistance to stress (calculation of stroke blood volume - SV, MC blood minute volume and peripheral resistance of PS), professional analysis of the labor activity of workers to identify the requirements that hazardous professions place on the body of workers, Research results. In candidates for engineering and technical specialties, the tension of the circulatory system reflected high values of the average dynamic pressure (105.73 ± 1.45 mm Hg), changes in the optimal hyperkinetic type of blood circulation to hypokinetic: 66.7% of those examined with low resistance to stress. In candidates for communicative specialties, a sufficient level of physical activity contributed to the stability of the indicators of the cardiovascular system. Conclusions. Informative indicators have been established for assessing the professional suitability of candidates to perform official tasks in extreme conditions: changes in handwriting signs, peculiarities of psychological status (anxiety, conformism), hemodynamic characteristics

A variety of factors influence the performance of schoolchildren. The main factors are psycho-emotional stress and systematic physical activity that requires a constant tension of body's regulatory systems aimed at mobilizing the functional body reserves. The analysis of blood pressure enables to estimate quantitative and qualitative changes in the regulation of the cardiovascular system. The combination of the Stroop test and the monitoring of the cardiovascular system make it possible to assess not only attention and cognitive function parameters, but the phases of the stress response of regulatory systems as well. The purpose of the study was to analyze the relationship between stress factor and the functional state of adolescent cardiovascular system. In the context of stress factor (Stroop test), the circulatory system of students gets activated, and its indicators vary differently among boys and girls. At rest, girls have the lowest performance of the circulatory system. Before the test, heart rates vary in boys and girls in different ways. In the course of our study, we have found out a direct relationship between heart rate, blood pressure before and after psycho-emotional load that testifies the predominance of the sympathoadrenal system activity. We have revealed the arterial hypertension is determined by physiological and social factors. Prevention of arterial hypertension in existing standards of schools requires reconsidering and improving of educational approaches, especially in terms of physical education.


The cardiovascular system is actively involved in the adaptive reactions of the body. The deterioration of adaptive processes decreases the functional capabilities of the heart. Arterial hypertension is often known as the main cause of fatal cardiovascular events in adults. The aim of our study was to determine the adaptive capabilities of the cardiovascular system of adolescents with non-inflammatory cardiomyopathies depending on physical activity’s level. There were examined 92 patients with arterial hypertension and connective tissue dysplasia, the mean age was 15,4 ± 1,33 years. In order to study tolerance to the minimum physical activity and its influence on the state of the cardiovascular system in children, the Ruffier test was conducted. The vegetative reactions of central nervous system were performed by the orthostatic test. The functional state of the myocardium was assessed according to the results of the ultrasonic Doppler study of the heart. As a result of the study, it was found that in connective tissue dysplasia and arterial hypertension adaptation mechanisms were affected, accompanied by a weakening of cardiac functional capabilities. This happens against the background of a decrease in the functioning of the left ventricle. These changes are accompanied by hyperactivation of the autonomic nervous system in patients in the studied groups. The physical activity and physical development of children affect the adaptive capabilities of a growing organism. This is due to the fact that the children in group with AH and CTD were less physically active than children without myocardial pathology. Adolescents who showed the reduced results of Ruffier's test and had regular sports sections need change of a mode of training and further inspection.
