Increasing of maize productivity can be reched through using of superior varieties BISI 18, aplication of organic fertilizer, and regulation of crop populations. This study was aimed to know the influence of jajar legowo planting system (2:1) and cow manure on growth and yield of maize. This research was conducted in Bualemo B, Bualemo, Banggai from July up to October 2020. The experiment was arranged in Randomized Block Design with 2 factors, the first factor is the spacing of planting in legowo planting system (2:1), which consists of 3 levels namely 70 x 25 x 25 cm (J1), 70 x 30 x 30 cm (J2), 70 x 35 x 35 cm (J3), the second factor is the dose of manure which consists of 3 levels namely 8 tons/ha (K1), 9 tons/ha (K2), and 10 tons/ha (K3). Each treatment had 3 replications so there were 27 treatment plots. The results showed that the combination of jajar legowo planting system and cow manure has no effect on the height of plants at 2, 4, and 6 weeks after planting, as well as the number of leaves, but giving the effect on the height of plants at 8 weeks after planting. The combination of jajar legowo planting system and cow manure has a real effect on the average weight of cob and has a very real effect on dry weight per plot. The  weight average in corn cobs about 239.67 grams in the spacing of planting 70 x 35 x 35 cm with 8 tons/ha dose of manure. While the grain dry weight average is highest in the spacing of planting 70 x 35 x 35 cm with 10 tons/ha dose of manure and it is about  212.56 ounces.

Clove oil has the potential to suppress the development of the mosaic virus in patchouli plants, but its effectiveness in the field has not been studied. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of clove nano biopesticide on controlling patchouli mosaic disease. The research was conducted at the Manoko Experimental Garden, Bandung, West Java from March to November 2018. The patchouli used was Patchoulina-2 variety, which originated from the Seed Breeder Garden in Lembang, Bandung.  This study was arranged in a Randomized Block Design (RBD), consisting of five treatments and ten replications within each treatment, with one hundred plants in each replication. The results obtained showed that nano biopesticides of citronella, clove, and commercial citronella (Asimbo) were able to reduce the incidence and intensity of mosaic diseases in patchouli plants, showing the efficacy levels of 14.68%, 9.06%, and 5.83%, respectively. The application of citronella and clove biopesticides on Patchoulina-2 every month could increase plant fresh weight, when compared to the plants without treatment. Patchoulina-2 plants treated with nano biopesticides of clove and commercial citronella (Asimbo) showed higher value of fresh weight compared to those treated with citronella nano biopesticide. The clove nano biopesticide can also be developed to control mosaic diseases in patchouli plants.

Abstract Most potato farmers in Indonesia select the small tubers at harvest for planting in the following season, the so-called farmers’ practice (FP). This propagation method is cheap, but the small tubers may come from less healthy plants, which increases the build-up of diseases with accelerated yield decreases over the seasons. Alternatively, farmers may identify healthy plants within the growing season and select those for propagation, the so-called positive plant selection method (PPSM). An experiment was carried out to evaluate the effects of PPSM compared to FP on yields in the following season in the two main potato growing areas of West Java, i.e., Pangalengan and Garut. Generations G2 and G3 of cv. Granola and one generation of the imported cv. Atlantic were used. Selected seeds using PPSM and FP were planted in the second season in a randomized complete block design. Results show that yields of seeds selected through PPSM were significantly higher compared to seeds selected through FP, over both locations, on average, 7.4, 5.5 and 1.2 ton ha−1 for Granola G2 and G3, and the Atlantic, respectively. These yield increases represent an increase in the gross revenue of 30.8 to 51.8 million IDR ha−1 for Granola and 1.9 to 7.8 million IDR ha−1 for Atlantic at a farm gate price of 7,000 and 6,500 IDR kg−1, respectively. This study confirms that PPSM is superior to FP and improves the quality of the farms saved seeds.

ABSTRACTVariability of mutant genotypes chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora Tzvelv.) fifth generationsthrough gamma iIrradiationDendranthema grandiflorum Tzvelv. is a major floriculture in Indonesia, and it is one of the five most popular flowers in Indonesia. Chrysanthemum varieties in Indonesia is largely the introduced varieties. Chrysanthemum hybridization especially for decorative flower type in order to obtain superior varieties is relatively difficult, so the mutation breeding is one approach that can be taken to get the chrysanthemum varieties with different phenotypic performances with the that parent. The purpose of this study was to obtain information genetic and phenotypic variability characters observed on chrysanthemum irradiated with gamma ray. The experiment was conducted by an experimental method using a randomized block design (RBD). The treatments consisted of 37 mutants genotypes and 11 genotypes chrysanthemums parent as controls with two replications. The results of this study indicated that the genotypes tested had broad genetic and phenotipic variation for the plant height, flower diameter, number of flower and neck lengths.Key words: Chrysanthemum mutants, Variability, Gamma ray irradiation.ABSTRAKKrisan merupakan komoditas tanaman hias utama di Indonesia dan paling banyak diminati masyarakat. Shallot (Allium ascalonicum Linn.) constitutes one of the commodities that has important meaning for Indonesian people with the limiting factor in the production is the pest attack. One of these pest control techniques is by controlling technical culture of polyculture planting system. This research was conducted in July to October 2019 which was located in Banyuputih Village, Wringin District, Bondowoso Regency. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with six treatment, namely: P1 = polyculture of shallot + Lemongrass; P2 = polyculture of shallot + celery; P3 = Polyculture of shallot + mustard; P4 = Polyculture of shallot + Lemongrass + mustard; P5 = Polyculture of shallot + celery + mustard; P6 = Monoculture of shallot. Each treatment was repeated 4 times. Observation started at 30 days after planting. Data collection was done by observing directly on the sample plants. Sampling was carried out using Yellow trap and pit fall trap. Samples were taken at each plot 10 times with intervals of 4 days. Observations included collecting the pest insects and natural enemies that were found, counting the number of populations in each species, scoring towards the damage plants. The results showed that shallot planting by polyculture with different types of plants affected the population of pests and natural enemies as well as the level of diversity of insects in shallots. Planting shallots by polyculture has been proven to control pest populations compared to planting shallots by monoculture. Polyculture planting with two types of plants proved to be better than polyculture planting with three types of plants where the best treatment was found in P1, namely polyculture of shallot and lemongrass with the smallest pest population which was 17.5.
