В статье изложены обязанности студентов педагогических вузов, предложенные А.М. Пышкало, для формирования компетенций по информатике. Выявлены недостатки в преподавании предмета «Информатики и ИКТ» на первом курсе высших учебных заведений, обеспечивающих педагогические специальности, но не связанные с информатикой и предоставление способов их решения. Кроме того, были описаны инновационные и активные методы обучения, веб-технологиям и важность дистанционного образования для формирования информационных компетенций учащихся педагогических вузов. Было показано, что формирование навыков ИКТ происходит более интенсивно по сравнению с любой формой обучения.The article outlines the responsibilities of the students of the pedagogical higher education institutions proposed by AM Pishkalo for the formation of the competencies of the computer science competence in the higher school students. The first course of the higher education institutions providing pedagogical qualifications, but not related to informatics, showed deficiencies in the teaching of "Informatics and ICT", and suggested ways to solve them. In addition, innovative and effective teaching methods, Web technologies and the importance of distant education have been described to shape the information competencies of pedagogical high school students. It has been shown that the formation of ICT skills is more intensive in comparison with any form of education.

В статье рассматривается проблема согласования гуманитарного стиля мышления и естественнонаучного знания. Практика показывает, что у студентов, выбравших для обучения гуманитарные специальности, преобладает гуманитарное мышление. Оно сформировано условиями профильного обучения в средней школе и продолжает развиваться на этапе получения высшего образования. Гуманитарный тип мышления характеризуется диалогичностью, вариативностью, креативностью, самостоятельностью в освоении новых знаний, способностью к интеллектуальным изобретениям и экспериментам с неизвестными и неочевидными результатами, к рефлексивности и критичности результатов деятельности. Важнейшими условиями повышения эффективности в освоении содержания естественнонаучных дисциплин студентами-гуманитариями являются учет возможностей и познавательных интересов студентов, использование резервов учебной информации, интерактивных методов обучения.The article deals with the problem of harmonizing the humanitarian style of thinking and natural science knowledge. Practice shows that students who choose humanities to study in humanities have humanitarian thinking that prevails. It is shaped by the profile of secondary school education and continues to evolve at the stage of higher education. The humanitarian type of thinking is characterized by dialogue, variability, creativity, autonomy in the development of new knowledge, the ability to intellectual inventions and experiments with unknown and non-obvious results, to reflexivity and criticality of the results of activities. The most important conditions for increasing the effectiveness in mastering the content of natural science disciplines by students of the humanities are taking into account the capabilities and cognitive interests of students, the use of reserves of educational information, interactive teaching methods.

The nowadays continuously expansion of the market for higher education services puts a high pressure on the management of such institutions. Universities are trying to keep their position on the market by applying theories and practices that have traditionally been used by the business environment. This paper proposes to adapt such a practice to higher education institutions. This is the strategy of backward vertical integration. We understand this by highlighting the possibilities that higher education institutions have to take over some of the activities carried out in high schools. Starting from the experience of a project to whose implementation the authors participated, the paper describes how the counseling and vocational guidance activities addressed to high school students can be carried out by the higher education institutions.

Kankor is a national university entrance examination in Afghanistan. All students from across Afghanistan at the end of their secondary school in case of wishing to enter public universities, free of cost, are required to take the Kankor examination. Every year on average 200,000 students from 34 provinces of Afghanistan attend the Kankor examination between February and April. In Afghanistan, Kankor examination is the only way through which Ministry of Higher Education, the responsible entity for administering Kankor examination, can evaluate secondary school graduates to determine whether they are capable to undertake undergraduate courses at higher education institutions. The findings of this paper demonstrate that the current Kankor examination system does not help university entrants obtain admission in their desired disciplines. Moreover, the findings echo that not considering students’ interests in giving admission to higher education institutions leads to many other challenges for students once they enter universities such as (a) lack of preparation for the admitted major, (b) increasing dropouts, and (c) low academic performance. Hence, the current study aims to discover the existing issues with the current Kankor examination in Afghanistan and propose a new Kankor examination model for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Higher Education.

The article considers the phenomenon of social and psychological readiness of high school students to enter higher education institutions, as it is relevant both for the individual and for society as a whole. Graduates of general secondary education institutions should enter into new social relations, which requires the necessary and sufficient level of knowledge to master the educational and professional program in a higher education institution successfully; ability to adapt to new life circumstances; ability to choose the path of professional development. General secondary education institutions need to pay considerable attention to the professional orientation of students. The components of vocational guidance in schools include the presence of a comprehensive program of vocational guidance; taking into account the needs of each child; availability of qualified career guidance counsellors trained teachers; contact with employers and direct work experience; liaison with educational institutions of the next levels of education; support and understanding of the importance of vocational guidance by school management; access to information on career development and the world of professions. The purpose of the article is to determine the initial level of formation of socio-psychological readiness of high school students to enter higher education institutions. Further steps are planned to form the social and psychological readiness of high school students to enter higher education institutions. Research methods: theoretical - analysis of psychological and pedagogical sources on the researched problems; empirical - Questionnaire to determine the formation of ideas about the world of professions and self-determination of personality, methods of diagnosing personality motivation to succeed T. Ehlers, methods «Motives for choosing a profession» R. V. Ovcharova, method «Readiness of students to choose a profession» V. B Uspensky. The study involved 200 high school students.

Modern Ukrainian society is in various complex socio-economic and socio-political transformations that lead to changes in cultural and spiritual values, ideas about future professional development. The article from the standpoint of the social situation of personal development of early adolescence and the specifics of schooling highlights the problem of professional self-determination of modern high school students. It is important and relevant to study this problem in terms of understanding the choice of future profession by high school students, studying fluctuations in the process of building images of possible future professional self-determination under the influence of socio-economic and political situation in Ukraine, and taking into account age and intellectual maturity legalization of society, moral, socio-psychological pluralism in the media. The purpose of the article is a theoretical analysis of the problem of socio-psychological readiness of high school students to enter higher education institutions. Research methods: analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature; comparative-historical method of foreign and domestic experience in the formation of socio-psychological readiness of high school students to enter higher education institutions.

Decades of social science research demonstrate the impact of education on civic participation. However, prior scholarship generally assumes that the returns to education do not change over time or geographic space. Absolute educational effects are not always plausible; as more individuals obtain a college degree, there are a greater number of qualified individuals competing for the same social resources. The present study tests the impact of education on civic participation, and whether this effect changes as the number of college-educated individuals increases over birth cohorts. The present findings suggest that in some cases, a college degree's impact on civic participation declines as more individuals obtain college degrees. The findings challenge commonly held assumptions about the effect of higher education on civic participation. Furthermore, the findings suggest that while sending an individual to college may increase civic participation, encouraging all high school students to go to college may undercut the benefits of college attendance.Keywords: higher education, cohorts, civic engagement, volunteering
