Common cold or salesma is a common disease that easily found anywhere to anybody, effective method needed in discovery process that was expected can be improved by Vitamin C intake. Despite, people’s perception nowadays, presume that Vitamin C doesn’t have effect for curing and preventing common cold. This research was aiming to know about how are people’s perception about Vitamin C and its effect to common cold, and their perception about other benefit of consuming Vitamin C in daily life. Methods: this is a descriptive-qualitative research done by interviewing the amount of people who have suffered from common cold with purposive sampling, with 15-59 years old. Result: showing low value of people with perception that Vitamin C beneficially to common cold, and various perception about benefit of Vitamin C to human body, especially for maintaining immunity. Conclusion: only a few people’s perception about benefits of Vitamin C toward common cold, but actually Vitamin C could enhance immunity, potent antioxidant, reduce inflammatory, prevent infection, and treat common cold. Implication: Suplementation of Vitamin C in daily life is good for maintaining immune system, but don’t exceed from its limit which body can absorb. Better ask doctor or expert if you want to consume Vitamin C with extradose to cure your common cold

Vitamin C is needed by human body to improve the immune system and can be obtained from the bell pepper. Bell pepper has a different color according to the level of maturity, ranging from green, yellow, orange, and red. Differences in color also make possible differences in vitamin C content. The purpose of this study was to determine vitamin C levels in various colors of bell fruit. Measurement of vitamin C was done by titration method with metaphosphoric acid as the solvent and 2,6 dichloroindophenol as the standardized solution. The samples used were green bell pepper, yellow bell pepper, orange bell pepper, and red bell pepper taken from Gundaling, Berastagi, Karo, Sumatera Utara, 22152, Indonesia. The results show that vitamin C level in various colors of bell pepper respectively, for green bell pepper 16.52 mg vitamin C per 100 g green bell pepper; yellow bell pepper 159.61 vitamin C per 100 g yellow bell pepper; orange bell pepper 121.38 vitamin C per 100g orange bell pepper; red bell pepper 81.19 vitamin C per 100 g red bell pepper. These results indicate that different levels of bell pepper maturity have different vitamin C content.

Background: Biology has some material content that is related to the daily-life of students. Biology should be understood and applied well by students. But many students still have difficulty understanding a concept and even has misconceptions in learning biology. Method: This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive analysis design that aims to analyze students' misconceptions on the material of the nervous system. The population in this study were students of class XI-MIPA SMAN 2 Tasikmalaya and the sample was selected by purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a four-tier diagnostic test and an interview to analyze students' misconceptions. Results: A study of 35 subjects showed a percentage of students' misconceptions of 8.1% and was categorized as low. The sources of misconceptions consist of teachers, students, books and tutoring. Sources of misconceptions that have the greatest contribution are students with a percentage of 68.6% caused by students' associative thinking, wrong reasoning and low learning interest. Conclusion: Students' misconceptions on the material of the nervous system in class XI-MIPA1 of SMAN 2 Tasikmalaya are classified as low and the biggest source of misconception is the students themselves. Thus, students can avoid misconceptions in learning, students need to communicate their understanding with the teacher, choose credible books, and avoid tutors who have tutors not in accordance with qualifications.

Vasavaleha is one of the best medicine given for respiratory diseases. Corona viruses typically affect the respiratory system, causing symptoms such as coughing, fever and shortness of breath. It also affects host immune system of human body. Spreading rate of this disease is very high. Whole world is seeking for the treatment which can uproots this diseases. There in no vaccine available till date against this pandemic disease. Ayurveda mainly focuses on prevention of diseases alongwith its total cure. Rajyakshma Vyadhi is MadhyamMarga Roga as per Ayurveda. It shows many symptoms such as Kasa, Shwasa etc. By overall view of Covid 19, shows its resemblance with Rajyakshma Vyadhi described in Ayurveda. Vasavaleha is a Kalpa which is described in Rogadhikara of Rajyakshma. It shows Kasahara, Shwashara properties. It consists of Vasa, Pipalli, Madhu and Goghrita. These components shows actions like bronchodilation, antitussive effect and many more other actions. Pipalli shows important Rasayana effect. So in present review, we have tried to focus on role of Vasavaleha in the management of Covid 19. This can be used as preventive as well as adjuvant medication in treating Covid 19. There is need of further clinical research to rule of exact action of Vasavaleha against Covid 19.

This study entitles ―Citra Perempuan in Novel Burung Tiung Seri Gading Written by Hasan Junus‖. Problem in this research about the image of women and the gender inequities in the novel.This study aims to describe, express women‘s image and the discrimination of gender in novel Burung Tiung Seri Gading. The use of this study is to inform people in general and readers in particular about the roles and status of women in society reflected in novel Burung Tiung Seri Gading. The theory used is feminist literature criticism. This is a qualitative research. using the book study method. Primary data that is Burung Tiung Seri Gading novel Hasan Junus work published by Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Provinsi Riau, Pekanbaru 2009185 pages thick.The steps of the research are (1) identify the female characters in literature, (2) seek the position of these figures in everyday life in society, good relations within the family or in society at large, (3) gender inequality would be viewed through a gender analysis ofits image of women in daily life. The conclusions of this study are that the roles and status of women in society get women not be able to avoid their housework and the discrimination of gender. AbstrakPenelitian ini berjudul ―Citra Perempuan dalam Novel Burung Tiung Seri Gading Karya Hasan Junus‖. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini tentang citra perempuan dan terjadinya ketidakadilan gender dalam novel. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan citra perempuan dan mendeskripsikan ketidakadilan gender dalam novel Burung Tiung Seri Gading. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah memberikan pengetahuan kepada pembaca khususnya dan masyarakat pada umumnya tentang peran dan kedudukan perempuan dalam masyarakat yang tercermin dalam novel Burung Tiung Seri Gading serta memberikan pengetahuan kepada pembaca tentang terjadinya ketidakadilan gender dalam masyarakat yang tercermin dalam novel Burung Tiung Seri Gading. Teori yang digunakan adalah kritik sastra feminis. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode studi pustaka. Data primernya bersumberkan pada novel Burung Tiung Seri Gading karya Hasan Junus yang diterbitkan oleh Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Provinsi Riau, Pekanbaru, 2009 setebal 185 halaman. Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil dalam penelitian ini adalah adanya peran dan kedudukan perempuan di masyarakat membuat perempuan belum bisa lepas dari pekerjaan domestik serta perempuan adalah korban dari ketidakadilan gender.

The benefits of natural honeybee products (e.g., honey, royal jelly, beeswax, propolis, beevenom and pollen) to the immune system are remarkable, and many of them are involved in the induction of antibody production, maturation of immune cells and stimulation of the immune system. The type of plants in the geographical area, climatic conditions and production method have a significantly influence on the nutritional quality of honey. However, this variability can influence consumer liking by the sensory attributes of the product. The aim of this work was to compare the most popular honeys from Poland in terms of nutritional value, organoleptic properties and antioxidant activity. In the study, five varieties of honey (honeydew, forest, buckwheat, linden and dandelion) from conventional and organic production methods were tested. The nutritional characteristics of honey samples included acidity, content of water, sugars, vitamin C, HMF and phenolics (total and flavonoids), while honey color, taste, aroma and consistency were investigated in the organoleptic characteristics. The antioxidant activity was determined in water- and ethanol-soluble honey extracts using DPPH and ORAC tests. The results showed that organoleptic and nutritional characteristics of popular Polish honeys differ significantly in relation to plant source and production method. The significant effect of honey variety on the content of HMF, saccharose and phenolics, as well as acidity and antioxidant capacity were noted. The impact of variety and variety × production method interaction was significant in the case of the content of vitamin C, glucose and fructose. A visible difference of buckwheat and forest honeys from other samples was observed. The highest content of total phenolics with antioxidant activity based on the SET mechanism was found in buckwheat honeys, while forest honeys were richer in flavonoids.

Background. Vitamin C, E, D, A, zinc are considered to be essential in preventing and treating of acute respiratory infections (ARI) including COVID-19. Methods. We reviewed published studies evaluating the potential roles of these vitamin and zinc for ARIs and COVID-19 using Medline database, medRxiv, and bibliographic references. Results. Vitamins C, D, and E did not reduce incidence of common cold in general, but vitamin C reduced by half in population with physical and environment stresses. Vitamins C and E shortened duration and reduced severity of common cold. A large-dose vitamin A had no effect on recovery from pneumonia. Zinc improved clinical deterioration and pneumonia duration in under five. The effect on preventing COVID-19 morbidity and related-death was lacking. Conclusions. Although the effects of vitamins and zinc on ARIs including COVID-19 were inconclusive, taking these for a short period during pandemic may be beneficial when there is risks of deficiency.

Abstract Sleep deprivation affects the immune system and can render subjects more susceptible to symptoms associated with the common cold. The aim of this research was to investigate cold sufferers’ and doctors’ perceptions of the role of sleep in recovery from cold/flu. An online survey of 4000 adults who had suffered from cold/flu in the previous 12 months was conducted in eight countries and an online survey of 150 doctors was conducted in Germany. Responses were collected to questions regarding aspects of life affected by, and concerns while suffering from, cold/flu symptoms including nighttime awakening and actions taken to aid recovery. Responses were also collected to questions regarding advice given to cold/flu patients and the importance of sleep. Ability to sleep well was widely reported as negatively impacted by cold/flu (mean 46.1% of respondents across eight countries), especially in Western Europe, and inability to sleep well was a frequently reported concern associated with suffering from cold/flu (21.8%). To sleep more than usual was a frequently reported action taken to feel better (40.5%). Ninety-four percent of respondents reported waking up at night because of symptoms, cough being the most frequently reported symptom to awaken respondents. There was evidence of a possible relationship between sleep quality and medication taken at night for symptom relief. Countries with the highest proportions of respondents who reported sleep to be the aspect of life most negatively affected by a cold (France, Germany and Italy) were also those with the lowest proportions of respondents who reported that taking medications at night was the most effective way of getting back to sleep after waking due to cold symptoms. The majority of doctors believed sleep helped cold/flu patients to recover faster and that a good night’s sleep was important. Sleep is widely considered to be important in promoting recovery from cold/flu. Hence, the relief of symptoms that disrupt sleep is also likely to be important for a faster recovery.
