The aimed of this study was to determine the total oil content at Pandaratan Beach, determine epiphytic diatoms density in seagrass leaves Enhalus acoroides at Pandaratan Beach, and determined the relationship between total oil content and epiphytic diatoms density in seagrass leaves E. acoroides at Pandaratan Beach. Based on the results of research conducted, the highest total oil content is in the area around the sea transportation route, namely 0.25 ppm and the lowest total oil content is in areas far from human activity, namely 0.16 ppm. The highest epiphytic diatoms density found in areas far from human activities, namely 932.21 Ind/cm2 and the lowest epiphytic diatoms density found in the area around the sea transportation lines, namely 663.41 Ind/cm2.The relationship between total oil content and epiphytic diatoms density at Pandaratan Beach, Tapanuli Tengah Regency, North Sumatra Province has a very weak relationship (r = 0.03).

Citrus hystrix or Jeruk Purut is a type of Rutaceae family that is used as food and traditional medicinal ingredients. Various traditional dishes in Indonesia use Citrus hystrix as a cooking spice and are believed to give a distinctive and refreshing aroma. The use of plants as cooking spices or medicines is related to their bioactive compounds, especially in their use as medicine. The purpose of this study was to explain the relationship between the use of Citrus hystrix and its bioactivity. This study combines market surveys in several traditional markets in North Sumatra and literature studies on the results of research published online and offline about the bioactivity of Citrus hystrix. Respondents in this study were all medicinal plant traders who trade Citrus hystrix. Some of the keywords used for online searches are Citrus hystrix and bioactivity of Citrus hystrix, then they are synthesized so they can explain the purpose. Citrus hystrix has long been traded in the traditional markets of Kabanjahe, Berastagi, and Pancur Batu under the local name "Rimo Mungkur". The local people of North Sumatra, especially the Batak ethnic group, use Citrus hystrix as an ingredient for various ritual events and as a medicinal ingredient. In traditional medicine Citrus hystrix is used to treat fever, fractures, oukup (traditional sauna), malnutrition. Bioactivity of Citrus hystrix is antioxidant, anticancer, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective, and aromatherapy. The bioactivity of Citrus hystrix is thought to be related to its essential oil content, especially limonene, citronellal, and β-pinene. Citrus hystrix is a nautracetical plant that has the potential to be developed as a natural preservative for food and for aromatherapy.

The relationship between the various human activities and seismic activity has become more evident in the last several decades. One of the important domains where such a relationship manifests itself is hydrocarbon fields’ development. South East Tatarstan (Russia) is a region where the link between seismicity and the development of the giant Romashkino hydrocarbon field has been established. The goal of the current study is to conduct the causative analysis between the seismic activity and the development of the Romashkino hydrocarbon field’s Almetyevskaya area which is located in the most seismically active zone of the south-eastern Tatarstan.

This research aims to provide empirical data about the relation between faith and self-esteem with shamans and their supernatural power among the tribal-based religious community in North Sumatra. The main issue this research tackles is that in this modern society, there are those who still trust and use shamans and their supernatural power termed “Begu Ganjang”. Despite this, the development of the global economy can often cause difficulty, and as such, humans must possess the ability to survive and to overcome problems, in a term known as the “Adversity Quotient” (AQ). However, instead of using their AQ, some individuals with low self-esteem tend to place more faith in shamans and supernatural powers. This study uses a quantitative approach in the form of a questionnaire. By using either a Purposive or Judgmental Sampling method, from 600 people asked, there were answers from a total of 100 respondents (50 men and 50 women) from each of the following tribes in North Sumatra: Batak Toba, Mandailing, Pakpak, Simalungun, Karo, and Nias. The study applied SEM to analyze the relationship between endogenous variables of faith and self-esteem with the shaman and Begu Ganjang. The study found that the relation of faith to shamans = 0.19, and faith to Begu Ganjang = 0.00. This means that there is a small relation between faith and shaman, while there is no relation between faith and Begu Ganjang. Furthermore, the relation of self-esteem to shaman = - 0.13, and self-esteem to Begu Ganjang = - 0.06. The result of this study shows the following: 1) There is a correlation between the growth of the respondent’s faith and their trust in the shaman, and 2) The decrease of trust in shamans and Begu Ganjang will occur only if the respondent’s self-esteem increases. Finally, the results of this study may act as a point of reference for other studies that will examine the phenomenon of syncretism in Indonesia.

Abstract This research aims to examine the relationship between information technology and coastal development in Asahan Regency, North Sumatera Province, Indonesia. Through this research, coastal community opinions were collected using structured questionnaires. A structural equation modeling (SEM) approach was employed to test a hypothesized model constructed based on theories and previous studies. In addition, a new combination of existing indicators was used as a novelty of this research. The research result indicates that information technology has not significantly affected coastal development. Theoretical and practical implications of the research findings for policymakers are discussed.

The environment is closely related to nature and its creation. Problems faced by humans related to environmental conditions are things that have a big impact. The influence of the environment is very large on human life which makes the benchmark for good or bad human behavior. Because human life depends on the circumstances around him. Problems are often new things, but the things we often encounter in the environment are a variety of problems, such as the most common environment. According to Tung and Wihardjo (in Ramadhan et al, 2019), problems that occur in the environment caused by careless and intensive human activities in the area where he lives, this is done to improve the quality of life of each. Humans are more selfish without the environment when doing things that damage the environment. Whereas the consequences of their own actions will cause various impacts that are detrimental to themselves and others, such as floods that occur due to waste.
