INTRODUCTION: Short-term trainings for faculty members in ethics at different contexts have been shown positive impact. The objective of this study was to assess the feedback of the participant faculty. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Three short trainings to train teachers helping dental students learn ethics were organized in Jan-Feb 2019 in Universal College of Medical Sciences Bhairahawa Nepal. Twenty-five dental faculty members participated in these training; each training was of four hours. At the end of each training feedback was taken from the participants on semi-structured questionnaire. RESULTS: The rating of participants was notable on scale 1-10 for usefulness (8.84±1.03), content (8.36±1.35), relevance (8.68±0.90), facilitation (8.72± 1.21) and overall 8.92± 0.91. Their confidence level in conducting and facilitating "Think-Pair- Share" interactive session (3.68±0.69) and "Group-Work Discussion" (3.76±0.83) have increased on Likert scale 1-5. Participants rated teaching dental clinical ethics session as extremely important (3.96±0.20) on Likert scale 1-4. The participants also expressed they understand the importance of ethics teaching and practices and gained confidence to teach ethics to students. CONCLUSION: The rating on the training is notable; the perception of participants was positive regarding training and training enhanced their confidence to teach students.

INTRODUCTION: Teachers training is amongst the faculty development programs that facilitates in acquiring, and updating educational skills, thereby improving teaching learning practices. Universal College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) Bhairahawa, Nepal organized second teachers training workshop in September 8-13, 2019. The objective of this study was to seek the immediate reaction of the participant faculty members and assess it MATERIAL AND METHODS: The valid semi-structured questionnaire was used for taking feedback of the participants. The questionnaire was composed of four parts: A) demographic information, B) overall feedback on training workshop, C) feedback on specific group of sessions and D) Feedback regarding strengths, area for improvement, immediate impact and application in practice. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 21.  RESULTS: The participants rated training on scale 1-10 (1=poor, 10=excellent) regarding its usefulness (7.88±1.58), content (7.44±1.55), relevance of session & content (7.69±1.49), facilitation (7.25± 1.69) and training as overall (7.94± 1.44). The rating was notable. The rating on Likert scale 1-4 (1= not important, 4= extremely important) for “sessions on curriculum” (3.38±0.50), “sessions on teaching/learning methods” (3.25±0.68), “sessions on PBL” (3.06±0.68), “sessions on microteaching” (3.56±0.51) and sessions on assessment (3.19±0.75) was also remarkable. All participants strongly agreed (4.00±0.0), training has transformed them as better educator. The participants shared adequate content delivered systematically, group work exercises were best resources, and resource persons were friendly and competent, and suggested to reduce time of training and include more group work. Almost all participants except one perceived training has enormous impact on them academically, professionally and personally and all committed what’s learnt/acquired will apply in practice. CONCLUSION: Overall, reaction of the participants was constructive and they acknowledged the importance of training and agreed training has transformed them as better educators. Almost all participants perceived training has immense impact on them academically and they committed what’s learnt will apply in practice.

The present study explores the information literacy skills among the faculty members of the College of Horticulture, Bagalkote, Karnataka. A survey method was adopted in the study. The structured questionnaire was designed for data collection. A total of 110 questionnaires were distributed and 90 questionnaires were received back. The total response rate was 81.81 percent. The study found that the majority of the faculty members have better knowledge and skills about the use of different types of sources, tools, and services. The respondents suggested that the college library should conduct seminars, workshops, and training programmes from experts to improve information literacy skills.

We evaluated an infiltration anesthesia simulation model (IAM) and a conduction anesthesia simulation model (CAM) on the perception of learning by Mexican dental students. Our aim was to compare the perception of learning by dental students trained with two distinct dental anesthesia simulation model (DASM) with dental students who were not trained with a DASM. 3 groups participated in the study: G1 (N=12 students) learned to block the mental nerve (BMN) by participating in a theoretical lecture (stage 1) and a clinical demonstration (stage 2); G2 (N=12 students) learned the BMN by participating in the stage 1, stage 2, and training with the CAM; G3 (N=12 students) learned the BMN by participating in the stage 1, stage 2, and training with the IAM. The groups performed the BMN in a clinical exercise. Working-time of all participants was timed. Perception of learning for all participants was evaluated with a 5-point Likert Scale. The results showed that statistically significant differences were found between score of G1 and score of G2 and score of G3 (P<0.05).  No statistically significant differences were found between scores of G2 and scores of G3. G1, G2 and G3 showed an average working-time of 12:42 minutes, 9.75 minutes and 8:03 minutes, respectively (P<0.05). We concluded that the IAM and CAM showed a positive impact on the perception of learning, and the students trained with the IAM showed a shorter working time compared with the students trained with the CAM.

Background: Social capital has an important role in empowering entrepreneurship activities and performance improvement inhuman resources. This study aimed to examine the relationship between social capital and entrepreneurship behavior of academic members of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences in 2018. Methods: The present study is a descriptive cross-sectional method conducted among all faculty members working in Qazvin University of Medical Sciences in 2018. In order to collect study data, two standard questionnaires including social capital scale (Nahapiet & Goshal 1998) and entrepreneurial behavior (Leon Daes Zamptakis and Vasiliss Mustakis 2007) were used. Data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistical methods in SPSS version 20. Results: The results of the study showed that social capital and entrepreneurial behavior had a desirable condition. Furthermore, these two variables were statistically correlated (P-value < 0.05). Conclusion: Promoting the level of social capital in academic environments has significant benefits and a positive impact on entrepreneurial behaviors of academic members of the university. Therefore, managers should strengthen this key element in their organizations to upgrade their professional job performance.   Key words: Social Capital, Entrepreneurial Behavior, Faculty Member of the University.

The ways to satisfy clients’ critical demands in the changing paradigm of publication activity of universities on the whole and faculty members, in particular, are discussed. Some experience of gathering scientometric statistics and training faculty members in using scientometric indicators is summarized. Recommendations on monitoring these competences are given; in particular, the authors discuss the experience of short-term courses held at Omsk University of Design and Technology Library as an option aimed at improving university’s publication activity.

Effectiveness of Education and Training in Increasing Auditor Performance at the Lamongan Regency Inspectorate of East Java Province. This study aims to find out and analyze education and training to be the driving factors for improving the performance of auditors at the Inspectorate of Lamongan Regency, East Java Province. The researcher used a qualitative descriptive method with an inductive approach. The conclusion of this study is the effectiveness of education and training carried out through technical training programs held by the Lamongan District Inspectorate and the implementation of functional training and technical training outside which aims to improve the performance of the Lamongan District Inspectorate auditors, including being effective. This can be understood from the results of the overall study through interviewing the author with sources and direct observations. The indicators of effectiveness of auditor participation to carry out technical training carried out by the Inspectorate and functional training and technical training held outside of stating that, every implementation. Education and training can have a positive impact on the auditor of the Lamongan District Inspectorate in improving performance to carry out their duties and functions as internal government supervisors.

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) induced by new ß coronavirus MERS-(CoV) had first been described in Saudi Arabia in September 2012. MERS-CoV communication inside the population is often identified with clustered households and cramped communal spaces. The purpose of the study is to assess the knowledge and awareness of MERS-CoV among dental students in India. This was a questionnaire-based cross-sectional survey of 100 dental college students in Chennai. The self-designed questionnaires contained ten questions focused on the knowledge and awareness of MERS-CoV amongst dental college students. Questionnaires were circulated through an online website survey planet. After the responses were received from 100 participants, data were collected and analyzed, .87% are aware of MERS-CoV through media 13% from professional channels. 84%are aware of the clinical manifestation of MERS-CoV. 81%Are aware of the mode of transmission of MERS-CoV. 76%are aware of the preventive measures against MERS -CoV.68%. Are aware of the incubation period of MERS-CoV. 74%aware of PCR as a diagnostic test for MERS-CoV. This study concluded that dental students had strong awareness and knowledge of MERS. Also, there are a few differences in information and behaviours that require change. Large-scale health educational programs on MERS also should be facilitated by professional organizations to expand their reach and to strengthen knowledge to have a positive impact on their behaviour.

The aim of this meta-analysis was to review the impact of a Paleolithic diet (PD) on selected health indicators (body composition, lipid profile, blood pressure, and carbohydrate metabolism) in the short and long term of nutrition intervention in healthy and unhealthy adults. A systematic review of randomized controlled trials of 21 full-text original human studies was conducted. Both the PD and a variety of healthy diets (control diets (CDs)) caused reduction in anthropometric parameters, both in the short and long term. For many indicators, such as weight (body mass (BM)), body mass index (BMI), and waist circumference (WC), impact was stronger and especially found in the short term. All diets caused a decrease in total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and triglycerides (TG), albeit the impact of PD was stronger. Among long-term studies, only PD cased a decline in TC and LDL-C. Impact on blood pressure was observed mainly in the short term. PD caused a decrease in fasting plasma (fP) glucose, fP insulin, and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in the short run, contrary to CD. In the long term, only PD caused a decrease in fP glucose and fP insulin. Lower positive impact of PD on performance was observed in the group without exercise. Positive effects of the PD on health and the lack of experiments among professional athletes require longer-term interventions to determine the effect of the Paleo diet on athletic performance.

SUMMARY Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of five different polishing systems on a computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) polymer-infiltrated ceramic-network restoration with nanoscale assessment using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and visual assessment performed by dental school senior students and faculty members. Method: Forty-eight full coverage crowns were milled out of polymer-infiltrated ceramic-network CAD/CAM blocks (Vita Enamic) for polishing with one company proprietary, two ceramic and two composite polishing systems. The prepared crowns were divided into six groups: (1) no polishing (control); (2) polishing with Vita Enamic Polishing Kit (VEna); (3) polishing with Shofu Porcelain Laminate Polishing Kit (SCer); (4) polishing with Brasseler Dialite Feather lite All- Ceramic Adjusting & Polishing System (BCer); (5) polishing with Shofu Composite Polishing Kit (SCom); and (6) polishing with Brasseler Composite Polishing Kit (BCom). The polished crown surface topography was observed, and surface roughness and area were measured with AFM. In addition, polished crowns were visually assessed by 15 senior dental students and 15 dental school faculty members. Results: All polishing treatments significantly reduced the surface roughness and area of the crown compared with the control. SCom and BCom showed significantly higher surface area than VEna, and the SCer and BCer groups were intermediate, showing no significant difference from either VEna or SCom and BCom. There were no significant differences in surface roughness between any of the systems. Dental students and faculty members classified the groups polished with VEna, SCer, and BCer groups as clinically acceptable, and they selected BCer group as the best polished restorations and the control group as the least polished restorations. Conclusions: Ceramic and composite polishing systems produced similar polishing results as that observed using a company proprietary polishing system. However, effectiveness for polishing using a company proprietary and ceramic polishing system tends to be higher than composite polishing systems.
