The article focuses on Lermontov's publications and their perceptions in the critical reviews that appeared in the journal Biblioteka Dlya Chteniya in the 1830s and 1840s. It was in this period that the poet's literary reputation was shaped, his works published during his lifetime as well as posthumously. In the latter case, some were previously unknown to the public. The journals of the time reveal heated discussions, in which Biblioteka Dlya Chteniya was also a participant. The paper challenges the established image of the journal's editor Senkovsky, whose reviews have been traditionally categorised as negative and contradictory. The article mentions the history behind Lermontov's first publication in Biblioteka Dlya Chteniya and offers its version of the editor's as well as the poet's respective strategies. The author also analyses anonymous reviews published in the 1840s and containing positive assessment of Lermontov's oeuvre, as well as reviews attributed to Senkovsky, who held an overall favourable opinion of Lermontov but remained a staunch critic of the rival journal Otechestvennye Zapiski.

Less aligned emphasis has been given to the COVID-19 infodemic coordinating with the COVID-19 outbreak. Global profusion of tangled monikers and hashtags has found their ways in daily communication and contributed to backlash against Chinese. Official naming efforts against infodemic should be meet with a fair share of identification. Based on brief critical reviews on previous multifarious naming practices, we punctuate heuristic introspection in scientific conventions and sociocultural paradigms. Infodemiological analysis promises to articulate that people around the globe are divided in their favor stigmatized monikers in the public and scientific communities because of perceptual bias. There is no positive correlation between the degree of infection in their territories and collective perceptual bias to COVID-19. The official portfolio “COVID-19” and “SARS-CoV-2” has not become de facto standard usages, but full-fledged official names are excepted to duly contribute to the resilience of negative perceptual bias and collective behavioral propensities.

Fanny Fern (real name Sara Payson Willis Parton) was one of the most profitable American columnists and novelists of the mid-nineteenth century. Fern sustained her celebrity status largely through unauthorised reprints of her articles in American and British papers. Consequently, her public image was for the most part constructed through those reprinted articles, which were usually framed by speculations about her private life. This article examines the implications and limitations of Fern’s efforts to stabilise the dissemination of her public image in periodicals by using the relatively more stable form of the book. As a celebrity, she had limited control over the way she was publicly represented. As a woman in the public sphere, she was particularly vulnerable to slander and libel. The circulation of a spurious biography entitled The Life and Beauties of Fanny Fern (1855), alongside her sanctioned autobiographical novel Ruth Hall, profited from her literary brand while simultaneously undermining it. Examining how these competing narratives about Fern’s private life – one fictionalised, one unauthorised – shaped her literary reputation at home and in England, this paper argues that textual representations as well as material market choices, including book bindings and advertising techniques, shaped authorship in the increasingly commercialised transatlantic literary market of the mid-century in ways that both benefited and imperilled the female writer.

The few existing macro-economic estimates of the potential of an extension of local services provide a convergent message : the development of local services by means of public subsidies can lead to positive effects on employment. A positive assessment is obtained via two different channels. First of all via the traditional effects of financial transfers to households or the creation of public sector jobs. Assuming, however, as is only realistic, no change in the public sector balance, these positive effects disappear. Secondly the effects of changes in the structure of household consumption, which is enriched by the provision of local services, which then provide employment benefits. But it must be stressed that these macro-economic estimates are inevitably based upon a large number of prescriptive hypotheses which cannot but make them rather fragile in quantitative terms.

The shifts in A. A. Fet’s literary reputation and in his «image» directly depended on the atmosphere in the public life and literary milieu of each particular period. Because of its emotional accessibility, parody was one of the factors that contributed to the emergence and evolution of the hostile attitude towards Fet’s personality and poetry. One of the first to trigger this mechanism was the coeditor of the updated Sovremennik I. I. Panaev, whose parody Leafy maple alley… (184 7), targeting the imitators of Heine and the poetry of the so-called pure art, was in line with the ideological mindset of the ma gazine, and turned into a component of the literary confrontation.

<p>This article reveals the main approaches and methods of forming a perception stereotype of the migrant image as "other some" in the Russian mass media. The authors of this article analyzed three federal print publications - "Rossiyskaya Gazeta", "Trud" and "Komsomolskaya Pravda", characterized as mass editions, which enabled to make the most complete coverage of several segments of the readership and to highlight the most widespread meaning of the "migrant" concept in the public consciousness. The study of the dynamics of using the "migrant" concept for the period of 2000-2013 in the Russian print media made it possible to conclude that there were shifts towards a positive assessment of "other some". If the "language of enmity" was used in the public consciousness to form the migrant image at the beginning of the period under investigation, which led to the consolidation of migrant phobia, then the situation changed by 2013 - the migrant image was more often associated with a victim of interethnic tension and corruption. The new migrant image is the image of a migrant who has not found a better life, but has adopted Russia as a second home and therefore trying to adopt new standards and living conditions and helping to solve many of the social and economic problems of Russian society. </p>
