Salome seller profession is an alternative entrepreneurship for the community because the business is quite easy to do. This study aims to find the meaning of profit perceived by Salome sellers. Salome sellers who are able to survive long enough in pursuing their profession certainly have their own awareness in interpreting the benefits they get during selling Salome. This research was conducted on salome sellers who have pursued their profession for more than 10 years using a hermeneutic phenomenology approach. The results showed that salome sellers interpreted its advantages in terms of broad market segments, light business capital, and business management flexibility. The findings of the research's significance can also be taken into consideration in terms of measuring the risk of salome business performance from strategic, financial, and operational aspects. This study examines critical factors in affecting halal business management, particularly challenges in Halal logistics implementation faced by the logistics service provider as well as its potential and opportunities for Halal based business in Indonesia. An In-depth, semi-structured interview is conducted to deepen the understanding and to provide detailed data of the study. The study found that there are several factors influencing halal logistics implementation. In terms of business strategy, there are external and internal factors that affect halal logistics practices. Such as market-driven, perception benefit of halal logistic certification followed by customer loyalty, challenges in implementing halal logistics, the complexity of operation halal logistics, and invariably regulation factors. All of those factors have become a prior factor in implementing halal logistics practices. The findings can provide a guideline in how to implement halal logistics practices in logistic service provider business, especially in transportation and warehousing process, along with the expected result for its business performance.

With the phenomenon of information acquisitions and sharing, this section aims to drawn from experiences of collaboration for intellectual contributions. Especially in the recent global economic meltdown, there is increased complexity about how to optimize business resources on a worldwide scale. Hence, the role collaboration plays in business management is not only to facilitate information sharing but more importantly, to enhance business performance. This chapter reviews the current literature in the fields of collaboration, as well as the interaction between collaboration and business performance in the area of Wenzhou. Moreover, influences from political, legal, business forces, cultural, psycho-social and technology development would also affect the performance of collaboration. A detailed discussion of the importance of the trust underpinning inter-organizational collaboration is included from the psycho-social perspective. Currently, a research gap exists in the examination of the relationships between collaboration and business performance via diffusing e-business in this industry.

The purpose of this research is to propose an overall performance evaluation model for local development companies that takes into account social, financial and operational aspects.  While there are many ways to evaluate business performance, few make it possible to take into account all the objectives of the organization. After reviewing the literature on the topic, we developed a model that uses a surface measurement to classify organizations. We then applied this model to the Société locale d’investissement et de développement d’emploi du Québec (SOLIDEQ), which itself comprises 84 SOLIDEs.  The mission of these organizations is to provide venture capital to regional companies. As an arm of a labor-sponsored venture capital corporation, the SOLIDEs must obtain a return on investment commensurate with the risk incurred, achieve local development objectives such as job creation and maintenance, and lastly, manage operations wisely given that the management committee consists of volunteers. The study results show that our model can be effectively used to measure the performance of each SOLIDE and to create a classification that takes into account all their objectives.

For more than two decades, knowledge management (KM) has been examined in the literature and considered a basic factor in business management. The purpose of this article is to explore the ability of knowledge management to achieve small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) innovation and business performance. Data analysis procedures of PLS-SEM was used to analyze the data based on responses from the owners of 903 companies in industry, construction, services, and trade in the Region of Murcia (Spain) through a self-directed survey. The results show that KM has a significant influence on innovation but the influence on the level of performance of SMEs is insignificant. However, training employees as part of KM showed no significant influence on innovation in SMEs. It is important for leaders and managers to have greater openness to changes in the implementation and proper execution of KM. This work contributes primarily to the development of the literature on knowledge management and its relationship with innovation and business performance.

Improving women entrepreneurship is about improving the societies and economies. Women across the globe have impactful participation in the field of entrepreneurship yet they receive relatively lesser attention from entrepreneurship researchers. The field lacks in its own theories and measures hence, employs borrowed ones. Further, most of the researchers use the same tools to measure entrepreneurial performance and success for both male and female entrepreneurs while ignoring the basic differences of their motives to become entrepreneurs. Similarly, women centric success measuring instruments have not been given due attention in past studies and it remained a big gap in research. This study aims to reveal what success is for women entrepreneurs and develops a success measuring tool. Hermeneutic Phenomenology approach was used to attain these objectives. Interviews were conducted from Malaysian female entrepreneurs. The study explored first, second and broader constructs to understand the true meanings of success which is found to be a multifaceted phenomenon having its roots embedded in the dimensions of autonomy, intrinsic-satisfaction, customer-base, business-growth, family, networking and business-performance. Furthermore, it develops a success measuring instrument for women entrepreneurs based upon identified themes. The devised success instrument may practically contribute in gauging women entrepreneurship success for academicians, researchers, women entrepreneurs, policy makers and others. Women entrepreneurship can significantly contribute in economic development and understanding/measuring their perceived success would assist all related stakeholders.
