Due to global warming, over-regulation of water bodies, disruption of water runoff, poor functioning or complete lack of drainage systems, reduction of forest areas, our state will not avoid the problems associated with flooding. The harmful effects of water are due to global factors, such as warming and melting glaciers, as well as regional features, including the water exchange system between water bodies, changes in rainfall and river runoff. Land flooding is a phenomenon that cannot be completely prevented. However, human activity increases its likelihood and impact. The risk of flooding and the degree of damage caused, as well as the impact on the health and socio-economic situation of those affected, will continue to increase in the future due to climate change. Inadequate river management, construction in flood-prone areas and the growing population living in these areas exacerbate the effects of flooding. Ukraine has already taken appropriate steps to implement the provisions of international acts in the field of preventing and combating land flooding into national legislation. However, the quality of implementation of national programs in this area requires better, as most measures, unfortunately, are not implemented. Failure to implement measures in certain amounts creates high risks of flooding, as a result of which the population and the economy of the state suffer multimillion losses. Keywords: land flooding, harmful effects of water, threats and risks of flooding, basin-based water management, climate change, global warming

The climate of the planet is a complex system that changes as a result of processes of interaction between the atmosphere, the ocean and man. These elements are in a balanced equilibrium, which is now being destroyed by man's human activity. The urgency of the theme is due to the necessity of determining changes in the hydrological, hydrochemical and hydroecological state of water objects of Ukraine in the conditions of anthropogenic influence and global warming in order to optimize the management of water resources. The purpose of the research is to study the impact of climate change on the quality of water resources of Psel river, depending on the temperature regime and rainfall in Poltava region. The paper examines the effects of global warming, namely changes in the temperature regime of air and rainfall on qualitative and quantitative characteristics of Psel river in the territory of Poltava region. Using statistical methods, the existence of a correlation between climate parameters and qualitative characteristics of the reservoir has been proved. The results of the research should be taken into account when developing the schemes of adaptation of the region to the conditions of global warming and in the management of water protection activities in the basin of Psel river. The practical value of the results is to provide estimates of changes in the characteristics of the water resources of Psel river; detecting the effects of climate change on the hydrological, hydrochemical and hydroecological regimes of the river; establishing interrelationships between raising the average annual water temperature and the oxygen regime of the reservoir. The results of the work in the future will be used in the development of regional environmental programs and schemes for optimizing the management of water resources.

There is increasing evidence that the impact of climate change on the productivity of grasslands will at least partly depend on their biodiversity. A high level of biodiversity may confer stability to grassland ecosystems against environmental change, but there are also direct effects of biodiversity on the quantity and quality of grassland productivity. To explain the manifold interactions, and to predict future climatic responses, models may be used. However, models designed for studying the interaction between biodiversity and productivity tend to be structurally different from models for studying the effects of climatic impacts. Here we review the literature on the impacts of climate change on biodiversity and productivity of grasslands. We first discuss the availability of data for model development. Then we analyse strengths and weaknesses of three types of model: ecological, process-based and integrated. We discuss the merits of this model diversity and the scope for merging different model types.

Climate change conditions a wide range of impacts such as the impact on weather, but also on ecosystems and biodiversity, agriculture and forestry, human health, hydrological regime and energy. In addition to global warming, local factors affecting climate change are being considered. Presentation and analysis of the situation was carried out using geoinformation technologies (radar recording, remote detection, digital terrain modeling, cartographic visualization and geostatistics). This paper describes methods and use of statistical indicators such as LST, NDVI and linear correlations from which it can be concluded that accelerated construction and global warming had an impact on climate change in period from 1987 to 2018 in the area of Vojvodina – Republic of Serbia. Also, using the global SRTM DEM, it is shown how the temperature behaves based on altitude change. Conclusions and possible consequences in nature and society were derived.

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s surface. According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) average temperature of the Earth’s surface was global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the 0.74 ± 0.18 0C (1.33 ± 0.32 F) over the last hundred years. The impact of rising temperatures is the climate change effect on agricultural production. If the community does not craft made adaptation to global warming will have an impact on food security. This research aims to know the society’s adaptation to food security as a result of global warming and to know the influence of global warming on food security. The research was carried out based on survey methods. The influence of global warming on food security is identified with a share of household food expenditure and the identification of rainfall. Sampling was done by random sampling. The Data used are the primary and secondary data. Primary Data obtained through structured interviews and depth interview using a questionnaire while the secondary data retrieved from publication data of the Central Bureau Statistics B(BPS), Department of Agriculture and Climatology Meteorology and Geophysics (BMKG). The expected results of the study is to know variations of food security due to global warming in Kulon Progo Regency. Comprehensive knowledge through community participation and related Government increased food security that is used as the basis for drafting the model society’s adaptation to the impacts of global warming.

SUMMARYTomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is one of the most important vegetable crops globally and an important agricultural sector for generating employment. Open field cultivation of tomatoes exposes the crop to climatic conditions, whereas greenhouse production is protected. Hence, global warming will have a greater impact on open field cultivation of tomatoes rather than the controlled greenhouse environment. Although the scale of potential impacts is uncertain, there are techniques that can be implemented to predict these impacts. Global climate models (GCMs) are useful tools for the analysis of possible impacts on a species. The current study aims to determine the impacts of climate change and the major factors of abiotic stress that limit the open field cultivation of tomatoes in both the present and future, based on predicted global climate change using CLIMatic indEX and the A2 emissions scenario, together with the GCM Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)-Mk3·0 (CS), for the years 2050 and 2100. The results indicate that large areas that currently have an optimum climate will become climatically marginal or unsuitable for open field cultivation of tomatoes due to progressively increasing heat and dry stress in the future. Conversely, large areas now marginal and unsuitable for open field cultivation of tomatoes will become suitable or optimal due to a decrease in cold stress. The current model may be useful for plant geneticists and horticulturalists who could develop new regional stress-resilient tomato cultivars based on needs related to these modelling projections.

Climate change has an important impact on the environment. As it degrades the quality of water, soil, and area, it also spreads the distribution of many toxic elements, specifically heavy metals and pesticides. The impact of climate change on contamination with heavy metals and pesticides has been well investigated and discussed. The influence of these elements on human health is obviously exacerbated following their extended distribution. Moreover, a wide range of health problems have been associated to such intoxication, among which impairment and dysfunction of the nervous system are prominent. In this chapter, the authors will shed light on two most common neurological diseases such as epilepsy and stroke affecting people worldwide arising from food and water contaminations, mainly with heavy metals and pesticides.

The upcoming trends related to climate change are increasing the level of interest of social groups in solutions for the implementation and the realization of activities that will ensure the change of these trends and can reduce the impact on the environment, including the health of the community exposed to these impacts. The implementation of solutions aimed at improving the quality of the environment requires taking into account not only the environmental aspects but also the economic aspect. Taking into account the analysis of solutions changing the current state of climate change, the article focuses on the analysis of the potential economic effect caused by the implementation of nature-based solutions (NBSs) in terms of reducing the operating costs related to water retention for local social groups. The analysis is based on a case study, one of the research projects studying nature-based solutions, created as part of the Grow Green project (H2020) in Wrocław in 2017–2022. The results of the analysis are an observed potential positive change in economic effects, i.e., approximately 85.90% of the operating costs related to water retention have been reduced for local social groups by NBSs.
