The rapid forced transition to distance learning in the spring of 2020 served as an impetus for the development and introduction of new forms of education. Such a massive introduction of distance learning quickly revealed the advantages of traditional full-time education. The first meetings with students after the experimentally remote semester showed a noticeable loss of students of some of the learning skills, for example necessary for working in a team. In addition, it is impossible to teach many technical disciplines qualitatively to a student without his presence in the classroom. In the course of individual remote work with students (which entailed increased time costs), it became clear to teachers which points in the course should be paid more attention to, what to change in the presentation of educational material. Thanks to technological progress, new ways of conducting classes have appeared in a remote form. Such classes can complement traditional full-time education

Spring 2020 saw most Russian universities’ switch to distant learning due to the threat of COVID-19. The forced transition imposed new demands on faculty and students, who had to quickly adapt to the new educational conditions. These changes raised concerns about the quality of distant learning. The purpose of this study was to identify which students expressed more anxiety on expecting difficulties associated with a lack of understanding educational material under new circumstances. The study was based on the data of 6,230 Ural Federal University students polled in March 2020. Regression data analysis showed that the fear of not being able to cope with learning was more typical for the 1st and the 2nd year bachelors, for students who lowly estimate their self-regulated learning skills, for students who expected difficulties of communicating with teachers and of being motivated, as well as for students who attended classes for the sake of learning. The authors discuss possible measures to support students in the conditions of rapid and mass transition to distant learning.

The work is aimed at analyzing the psychological state in the students of the college of music in connection with several transitions to full-time and distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic during the 2020-2021 academic year. The study involved 95 students who applied for individual psychological help from a teacher-psychologist of the school. A total of 302 psychological consultations were conducted during the academic year. Within the framework of this study, it is assumed that the tense epidemiological situation and constant changes in the training format can worsen the psychological state of students. The analysis of the number of consultations in each month of the academic year was carried out and these data were compared with the transition to a particular form of education.
