The paper outlines the stages of the formation of the value category and determines its significance in the international protection system of historic cities. It also traces the transformation of ideas about the value of urban areas as heritage sites and considers the protection of the historical urban environment in the international and Russian experiences. It is found that along with the variety of existing instruments of the urban heritage protection, the requirements for the conservation of regular buildings as elements of the historical urban environment are insufficient. The elaboration of detailed regulations, in turn, provides for a clear understanding of architectural and urban values of each element. The aim of this work is to justify the need to develop a methodology for assessing the value of historical buildings, which should be applied with due regard to the regional or local cultural context. It must be also recognized that the overall goal of such a classification based on the values and the role of elements of historical development in shaping the urban landscape, is to formulate clear rules and parameters for permissible intervention in the historical environment.

In the last decade, the issue of forming a green framework system during the development and organization of cities, the structure and principles of its formation has been widely discussed. Meanwhile, the concept of a green framework in urban planning and ecology is different, which requires the synthesis and analysis of these concepts in urban ecology. The article is devoted to determining the role of the natural framework in the structure of the modern urban environment, it also highlights key issues related to urban development features of the formation of the green framework in the structure of the city, at the same level with the problems of its organization. This article reflects various approaches to the development of a green framework in an urban environment and the problems in its formation in modern conditions. The role of the green framework as the basis for ecological planning of the territory and optimization of the quality of the urban environment is considered. In the process of analysis, we conclude that the main aspects of compensation in urban areas are the preservation and development of the gardening system, the determination of their size and connectedness, ecological and urban planning functions that provide ecological compensation for the city, as well as the creation of green architecture. The preservation and growth of green spaces in cities is one of the main environmental tasks. The indifferent attitude of citizens to their environment is a serious urgent problem. The article raises the issue of increasing the civic activity of residents of megacities in the field of preserving the green frame of cities. The successful experience in the conservation of natural resources and the development of green public areas is described on the example of 5 European cities. The obtained results can be used by architects for the theory and practice of the formation of green frames in a modern urban environment.

SUMMARYA descriptive epidemiological survey was undertaken of the ascarid nematode Toxocara canis in 521 red foxes (vulpes, vulpes) during the period January 1986 to July 1990. Age–prevalence and age–intensity profiles show that worm are significantly higher in cubs than in subadult or adult foxes and higher in subadult than in adult foxes. variations in worm burdens occur, with the highest prevalences and intensities being found during the spring, when are born, and in the summer months. Prevalences and intensities then decrease during the autumn and winter months both subadult and adult foxes, but, during this period, prevalences are significantly higher in male than in female Variations in worm burdens in the fox population are likely to be related to the reproductive cycle of the fox, with proportion of cubs becoming infected in utero. The role of the fox in the transmission of T. canis in the urban environment is discussed.

In the context of an ever-increasing level of urbanization, the historical urban environment is one of the most studied phenomena in modern theory and practice of heritage conservation. The change in the paradigm of heritage that has taken place over the past decades and the recognition of man as one of the most important components of the heritage protection system contribute to the development of the legal apparatus and of new approaches to preserving cities. The article traces the relationship between the transformation of ideas about the value of an urbanized territory as an object of heritage and the evolution of its protection tools, reveals the role of various elements in maintaining the integrity of urban fabric based on analysis of international and Russian regulatory documents. The regular building is recognized as an element, which allows maintaining cultural identity and at the same time developing valuable characteristics of the historical environment, ensuring the invariability of the perceived image of the city. The historic centre of St. Petersburg, which has an internationally recognized architectural, urban and intangible (associative, memorial) values and is therefore inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is characterized by exceptional integrity and authenticity of the historical urban environment. These qualities require special and based on the principles of sustainability approaches to the development of the territory, which will ensure the maintenance of the integrity of the urban environment as an element of human environment.

What is the value of Yoruba epistemology, theory of knowledge, particularly its philosophy of perception, to humanity in general, and to contemporary Nigeria, in particular? How does Yorùbá epistemology connect with educational theory and practice in Nigeria? This essay recognizes but goes beyond the more general overviews on classical Yoruba education and its contemporary significance represented in works of Yorùbá and Africanist scholars. I demonstrate the significance of Yoruba philosophy of education beyond its cultural context, by projecting its universal and timeless value, foregrounding its distinctive concepts in dialogue with ideas from other cultures. In its engagement with Nigerian educational dynamics, the essay concentrates, first, on Yoruba epistemology in its intersection with ethical and metaphysical perspectives from Yoruba thought. Second, the essay deploys the African art-centered investigations of the role of the senses in relating with art, understood as paradigmatic of navigating the world.

Urban areas are characterized by numerous pollutants emitted by anthropic sources both in the form of solid and gaseous particulates. Biomonitoring is an easy, economical, and accessible approach for the determination of atmospheric pollutants. In this study, we used the leaves of Ficus macrophylla Desf. ex Pers., collected in the city of Palermo (Italy), to determine major and trace elements. Geogenic elements exhibited the highest concentrations, making up 99% of the weight of the analyzed elements (Ca, K, Mg, P, S, Na, Fe, and Al); they range 21,400 (Ca) to 122 µg g−1 (Al). The remaining elements showed median concentrations in the range 47.5–0.05 µg g−1 in the following order of abundance: Sr > Cu > Mn > Zn > Br > Rb > Ba > Pb > Cr > Sb > As > Mo = Sc. Cluster analysis, with Spearman’s coefficient to measure sample similarity, identified five main groups, namely, three clusters related to the geogenic background and marine spray; one cluster linked to elements essential to plants, and a final group attributed to the influence of traffic emissions. Calculated enrichment factors (EF) showed that the enrichments found for P and K were linked to plant metabolism; Na and Mg confirmed the role of sea spray; Cu and Zn underlined the contribution linked to anthropic processes and the role of micronutrients in plants.. As, Cr, and Mo had EF values ranging from 10 and 20, and Sb had EF > 90. From geochemical distribution maps of As, Cr, Mo, and Sb it was observed that metal and metalloid concentrations were higher in urban areas and immediately decreased as one moved away from these areas. Local pollution sources play a great role in trace element concentrations in airborne particulate matter. The present study confirms that Ficus macrophylla leaves are suitable for screening an urban environment to identify concentrations of inorganic chemicals, since they have high tolerance to pollution.

Problem Statement. The relevance of the research is caused by the need to study the processes of contemporary sedimentation in urban area, which reduce the quality of urban environment and have negative impact on the environmental state. The objective of the study is to determine the role of bad road periods in fall, spring, and summer. The material for the study is represented by the meteorological data for the period from fall 2005 to summer 2019. Meteorological conditions were analyzed in the context of formation of surface sediment runoff in bad road periods. The study was conducted on the example of Ekaterinburg (Russia). The following meteorological conditions were analyzed: time of the start, end and duration of bad road period, the thermal regime, precipitation, and the state of soil surface. Results. It was found that the climate changes in winter and spring led to a change in the regime of thawing. Spring thaw begins earlier relative to average start dates. The duration of bad road period in fall has increased by a month, it began to start earlier and end later relative to average dates. Excess atmospheric precipitations and low temperature contribute to an increase in the bad road period. In summer bad road period, the air temperature decreases and the amount of precipitation increases. For the beginning and middle of the spring, the end of autumn bad road period, the state of the surface of soils is characterized by snow cover. At the end of spring and at the beginning of autumn thaw, the moist state of the soil surface prevails. In spring thaw, the soil moisturizing was noted more often than in fall. In the spring and autumn thaw, the maximum overmoistening of soils takes place, the maximum amount of dirt is formed in Ekaterinburg. The results can be used in planning the measures to improve the environmental situation in the urban areas.

By analyzing the urban landscape, this investigation focuses on commercial typologies in historical urban areas and its relationship with the urban landscape and its heritage values. Trade plays an essential role in historical urban areas, both in the past and in the present, since it is part of the urban landscape—creating it and modifying it, but also preserving it. Historical protected urban areas contain diverse elements reflecting the impacts of commercial activities that have existed in cities throughout history. At present, the urban landscape of commercial activity is made up of a multiplicity of typologies and formats which interact with the historical landscape and its values, using them to strengthen its strategies of attraction, differentiation, and sales. Shop owners contribute to the preservation of historic urban areas by maintaining the commercial functions within them. Therefore, we affirm that the role of commercial activity in the preservation of urban protected areas is essential. However, further research is needed because this aspect has not been addressed in depth by the scientific community specializing in the management of cultural heritage.

This article examines the main methodological provisions for the theory and practice of predictive socio-cultural design. The article examines the main problems, which the developers of projects in the socio-cultural sphere are facing; emphasizes the communicative content and project activities focus; analyses the achievements of the Russian school of predictive social design initiated by T.M. Dridze and their significance for modern design practice. The theoretical and activity-related, as well as systematic and situational analyses of project activity in terms of the social interaction paradigm are considered to be the initial methodological requirements. The social levels of this interaction and the corresponding strategies for project activities are of particular attention. The leading role of the cultural content and the cultural context of predictive socio-cultural design is highlighted in the critical analysis of the project experience accumulated during the autonomous sociological approach and social engineering, which remain insufficiently effective in their development and implementation.

This article examines the scientific ideas about the substantial value of coins, paper and monetary signs of circulation in the Russian economic theory in the second half of the XIX — early XX centuries. The critical re-evaluation of foreign concepts contributed to a deep study of the concept of value, nature and functional role of banknotes in the national economy. The factors regulating the value of banknotes and the key criteria of the new model of elastic monetary circulation are considered. The concepts of Russian economists (A.N. Miklashevsky, A.A. Manuylov, L.V. Fedorovich, M.I. Tugan-Baranovsky, P.A. Nikolsky, N.I. Sieber, and many others) reveal the laws of pricing that affect the value of money. It is suggested that money is «an integral part of the developed social division of labor». In this context, we study the process of forming a systematic understanding of the relationship between different market segments and the state monetary economy, which revealed the specific role of money as an instrument that unites individual markets. It is concluded that, first, in the course of a critical analysis of the concepts of money and the development of the principles of reforming the monetary system in the Russian literature, the foundations of a macroeconomic understanding of the market economy were laid. The semantic «content» of the concept of «conjuncture» indicated an increased interest in macroeconomic research. Second, the development of the theory of the value of money and to elucidate their role in economic conditions contributed to the opening of several new, «frontier» of economic topics, including the theory of industrial crises and characteristics of the circulation of banknotes in extreme conditions at the beginning of the XX century. The fundamental economic concepts of value, price and money are still the «platform» of the most acute theoretical discussions, in which arguments in favor of the interests of traditional market actors, entrepreneurs and the state, are supplemented by the motives of transnational institutions. Knowledge of the theories of the value of money sheds light on the effectiveness of tools for regulating market conditions. The model of monetary circulation as an effective tool for regulating budget deficits and industrial activity during the crisis (with the help of the State Bank`s commercial portfolio) was the experience of the circulation of maternity money in the twentieth century. Familiarity with the positions of leading scientists gives an idea of alternative approaches in the interpretation of value (classical school, Marxism), or value (German historical school, marginalism, nominalism), creates a solid basis for analyzing the features of the domestic monetary system and attempts to reform it at the present time. A retrospective analysis of the theories of the value of money will help to form a clear understanding of the peculiarities of domestic monetary policy, to find out its role in the development of crises, inflation and «lack of money». The article, addressed to teachers of economic theory and the history of economic studies, graduate students, students, and anyone interested in the theory and practice of monetary circulation, attempts to «reveal» the secrets of the economic analysis of value — one of the key problems of economic science.
