Children become more motivated to learn when what is presented to them reflects or simulates their own reality, providing a sense of authenticity to education. This article aims to analyse which studies have already been carried out in the scope of the use and teaching of Design Thinking for children in the school environment. In order to achieve this aim, a descriptive exploratory research was conducted, based on the integrative literature review, with the Scopus and Web of Science platforms as the basis. It was noticed that Design Thinking is a valuable tool for the empowerment of children and adolescents, as it stimulates empathy, communication, creativity, and the ability to analyse and solve problems. One point that should be drawn from the articles is that there is few formally structured materials on the use of Design Thinking as a pedagogical practice, which can hinder its more accelerated dissemination. Finally, although interventions are centred on children and adolescents, educators need to realize that they are the primary factor for transformation, through their involvement, dedication, and attitude. Therefore, they need to be qualified, aware of their role as facilitators, guiding in this collaborative journey of critical thinking, and problem-solving in an innovative and future-oriented way.

Current survey shows there are 1 out of 5 graduates are unemployed (Site, 2018). Lack of non technical skills among graduates be one of the main reason for unemployment.Data shows Problem Solving Skills is the second most important non technical skill sought by employers (To et al., 2019); The studies show that the problems cannot be solved by using the same kind of thinking approach applied at the moment it was created. Therefore, a systematic analytical skill is required to handle the engineering related problems happening at manufacturing environment or engineering workplace. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the existing literature about Problem Solving skills for graduate engineers through a systematic literature review. This paper analyses literature through electronic databases mainly from Scopus and Web of Science. This paper summarizes types of problem solving skills applied in the engineering field as of now. Based on that, engineers can differentiate and understand the approach of the problem solving skills in the industrial environment to improve the failures and increase productivity.

The article studies and analyzes the scientific works of leading specialists in hygiene of children and adolescents on search electronic databases (Web of Science, PubMed, eLIBRARY and Research Gate) according to the keywords: Physical development, Teenagers, Educational institutions, Intra-school environment. Of the 277 sources found, the authors selected 115, taking into account the keywords, after an analysis of the selected literature, 49 sources were included in the present study in accordance with the topic of the work. It has been established that social, biological and environmental factors have the most effective influence on physical development. It has been determined that the school environment plays a large role in the formation of the physical status where the child spends most of his day. There are contradictory information about the influence of various forms of education on the state of health: in educational institutions of an innovative type of healthy children, there were 2.3 %, in ordinary schools — 10.1 %. However, according to other authors, higher anthropometric indicators were characteristic of students of educational institutions of the new type.

The purposes of this study were to develop a checklist, which guides the process of design thinking for the students, and to analyze the case of A university, so as to facilitate the non-subject educational activities in university. From the results of the literature review, we derived the preliminary items included in the checklist. After verifying the content validity, a Delphi survey by 15 experts was conducted. Corresponding to the five steps of design thinking, a total of 22 items, including 3 items for ‘empathize’, 6 items for ‘define’, 5 items for ‘idea’, 3 items for ‘prototype’, and 5 items for ‘test’ were finally selected for the students’ checklist. With regard to their problem solving abilities, the design thinking based program might be beneficial for enhancing students’ competence when it comes to problem clarification and plan execution. Furthermore, the developed design thinking checklists, along with the presented case of the design thinking program, are expected to encourage students to more actively apply the design thinking process to their non-subject educational activities.

These Design has become important to corporate competitiveness. Studies on design have paid much attention to innovation (Von Stamm, 2003; Utterback et al., 2006). A growing number of scholars see the design as the driver of the innovation, and two key ideas has gathering attention. One is the concept of “HCD (Human-Centered-Design)” and “Design Thinking” (Brown, 2008, Martin, 2009), and the other is the concept of “DDI (Design-Driven Innovation)” (Verganti, 2009). However, there is tension between two deterministic views of design-led innovation. On one hand, design is seen as a creative problem-solving activity that works towards a desired state of affairs that can be determined in advance. On the other hand, design is seen as exploratory research through which an understanding of an issue or problem emerges. This paper investigates the contribution of the designer’s attitude relating to problem-solving/exploratory research, and provides conceptual framework that explain relations between dual nature of designer’s attitude and design-led innovation.

Design thinking is generally defined as an analytic and creative process that engages a person in opportunities to experiment, create and prototype models, gather feedback, and redesign. Several characteristics (e.g., visualization, creativity) that a good design thinker should possess have been identified from the literature. The primary purpose of this article is to summarize and synthesize the research on design thinking to (a) better understand its characteristics and processes, as well as the differences between novice and expert design thinkers, and (b) apply the findings from the literature regarding the application of design thinking to our educational system. The authors’ overarching goal is to identify the features and characteristics of design thinking and discuss its importance in promoting students’ problem-solving skills in the 21st century.
