Results of quality investigations of corn hybrids seeds that are formed at the growing phases, postharvest processing and storage are expounded. Quality control system which is based on the acting (standardized) and additional indexes and also methods of their definition is worked out. Seeds viability on the cold germination method, energy and growth force, uniformity and damage are additional indexes, they have high correlation level with sowing qualities and plenteous hybrids properties. Cold germination method includes variable temperatures 8 – 10 and 18 – 20 degrees Celsius that reproduces conditions of “sowing – seedling” corn period in the field. The uniformity is determined by the method of separating seeding material and determination of some fractions content on seeds size 9, 8, 7, 6 mm in it. The damage is defined by looking-over seedlings through a magnifying glass and their separating into 3 groups: seeds which are not damaged, with macro- and micro- damage of germ and endosperm, also seeds with damage in the kind of plucked veil are separately distinguished. The largest level of additional indexes correlation determined by new methods is within r = 0,583 – 0.781 and refers to the field seeds germination, individual plant productivity of corn hybrids. On the base of acting and additional indexes conditioned seeds are offered to be evaluated in accordance with 3 indexes of sowing suitability. If seeds of the first and the second (high and medium) indexes are used marketable seeds of corn hybrids productivity can be increased on 15–18 %. The highest index seeds viability on the method of cold germination must be 85–100 %, quantity of strong plantlets – no less 81 %, uniformity – 91 % and more, content of seeds with macro damage – till 5 % and micro damage – till 29 %. The system of quality control is recommended to be used in the process of seeds preparation and on the phase of their certification. <p>Despite the fact that mankind has been drinking tea for more than 5000 years, its chemical composition has been studied only in recent decades. These studies are primarily carried out using chromatographic methods. This review summarizes the latest information regarding the chemical composition of different tea grades by different chromatographic methods, which has not previously been reviewed in the same scope. Over the last 40 years, the qualitative and quantitative analyses of high volatile compounds were determined by GC and GC/MS. The main components responsible for aroma of green and black tea were revealed, and the low volatile compounds basically were determined by HPLC and LC/MS methods. Most studies focusing on the determination of catechins and caffeine in various teas (green, oolong, black and pu-erh) involved HPLC analysis.</p> <p>Knowledge of tea chemical composition helps in assessing its quality on the one hand, and helps to monitor and manage its growing, processing, and storage conditions on the other. In particular, this knowledge has enabled to establish the relationships between the chemical composition of tea and its properties by identifying the tea constituents which determine its aroma and taste. Therefore, assessment of tea quality does not only rely on subjective organoleptic evaluation, but also on objective physical and chemical methods, with extra determination of tea components most beneficial to human health. With this knowledge, the nutritional value of tea may be increased, and tea quality improved by providing via optimization of the growing, processing, and storage conditions.</p>

A triennial evaluation of the content of titratable acids (TA) in grain was carried out on 12 varieties of proso millet (<I>Panicum miliaceum </I>L.). The model variety, Mironovskoe 94, harvested in 2004, was used for the monitoring of sensory changes in TA content, in relationship to different storage conditions and the application of different grain processing methods. The Czech state norm (CSN 56 0512-9 1995) Determination of Titratable Acids, with a slight modification, was used as the standard method. The TA contents in dry matter varied between 39 and 78 mmol/kg of grain dry matter, and significant differences between varieties and experimental years were found. The method of proso millet processing had a key role in the final sensitivity to rancidity. The storage conditions had a much lower influence on TA content than the processing technology. The clearly detected sensory changes found in scoured grains corresponded with TA contents within the range of 90 to106 mmol/kg. The monitoring of the TA content can be considered as a suitable tool for the prediction of rancidity processes in millet grains.

Abstract A facile procedure is described for the determination of trichlorfon in technical material and an 80% powder formulation by using liquid chromatography with ion-pairing and UV detection. Liquid chromatography allows the direct determination of trichlorfon and detection of any dichlorvos present. This method is applicable to quality control and storage stability analyses and eliminates any need for derivatization to counter the thermal lability of trichlorfon. The average standard deviations for the technical and 80% formulation determinations were 0.51 and 0.37%, respectively.

The paper analyzes the geometric characteristics of seeds, uniformity and cross - sectional area of rapeseed, on the basis of which the equivalent diameter was calculated. Knowing the dimensions of seeds is important in seed production from sowing, harvesting, processing, and storage, to seed packaging. Manual determination of the dimensions of seeds is a rather slow process, so the aim of this work was to show a computer-aided device that contains a camera and can take seed samples, while determining the dimensions of seeds by program image analysis. Presented device is realized in accordance with the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) so it has the ability to connect to the Internet and forward the image, or in another variant can directly perform the image analysis and further forward the results only. The purpose of the presented system for determining the size of seeds is providing a fast and efficient way for users to get the first results that will help them in the implementation of further activities related to working with small seeds.

Aim. Development and optimization of enzyme immunoassays for quality control of pseudomonas recombinant vaccine. Materials and methods. Recombinant proteins in intermediate products and for completeness of adsorption control were detected in sandwich immunoassay using specific polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies. Detection of the antigen in the vaccine was carried out on the residual amount of antibodies specific to toxoid or OprF that did not bind to the vaccine preparation during the preincubation. Results. ELISAs have been developed and optimized for the quantitative determination of the components (toxoid and membrane protein OprF) of the Pseudomonas recombinant vaccine during the production process. It has been established that: the methods are specific for the determination of toxoid and OprF, the quantitative limit determination has acceptable reliability, the possibility of choosing interpolation of the calibration dependence within the analytical area is shown, the accuracy and precision meets the acceptance criteria, the technique is stable under the conditions of the analysis. Conclusion. Methods can be used to control the quality of the drug during its developing and storage.

The organization of the sowing material stocks is a necessary condition for stable seed production of any crop. Insurance, reserve, breeding and transi-tional funds are such stocks in corn seed production. Their creation and maintenance largely depend on the economic longev-ity of seeds, which can be formed at the stages of cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest processing and storage of seed. However, the data on the peculiarities of the formation of seed longevity of corn hybrids and their ability to long-term storage are lim-ited. That is why research in this area is considered relevant and important. The results of study of regularities of formation and factors of longevity of corn hybrids seeds of domestic selection are summarized in the executed work. Ecological, technical-technological and varietal factors are formed dur-ing corn cultivation, har-vesting and processing. The greatest dependence is noted on the hydrothermal conditions, start-ing from the stage of cultivation, and then – in the stages after harvesting - the modes of drying and separation of seed. High economic durability is provided under the following conditions: hydro-term coefficient at the level of 0,5–0,7 – for vegetation and 0,3–0,4 – for maturing, dry-ing temperature within 36–400С at humidity of seeds of 20–30%, fractional separation, removal from the seeds mass of the unstable frac-tion containing 18–20% of the total. Some of the factors included a sign of seed size, which is clearly manifested at the stage of long-term storage of seed. Sowing fractions differ significantly in terms of size, including the weight of 1000 seeds and their linear size. The greatest economic durability is inherent in the first and second of all factions. It is recommended to obtain them by calibrating the seeds on separating sieves with round holes with a diameter of 8–10 mm, depending on the hybrids. Prolonged storage is proposed on the basis of a combination of two factors – low humidity and airtight packaging of seeds. This significantly reduces resource costs and extends the economic longevity of corn hybrid seeds to 4–5 years.

1. Tryptophan losses in stored milk powders and in different model systems representing the major reactions of food proteins during processing and storage were determined using four different chemical methods and in a rat assay.2. Similar tryptophan values were obtained by the three chemical methods which included high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) after sodium hydroxide hydrolysis. colorimetric reaction withp-dimethylamino- benzaldehyde (p-DAB) after barium hydroxide hydrolysis, and fluorescence of the Norharman derivative after NaOH hydrolysis.3. Tryptophan losses in the treated proteins as measured by the alkaline-hydrolysis methods were generally smaller than those determined by the rat assay. Good agreement however was obtained when the chemical value was multiplied by the true nitrogen digestibility.4. Determination of tryptophan by reaction withp-DAB after papain (EC 3.4.22.2) digestion gave lower values in the processed proteins than the other chemical methods or the rat assay.5. A method using alkaline-hydrolysis is recommended, preferably combined with HPLC-measurement of the liberated tryptophan.

Abstract We detail the technique, procedure, and equipment required to properly obtain a micro-scale capillary (fingerstick) blood specimen for subsequent determination of its lead content. We divide the microsampling procedure into preparation of sampling equipment and subject, the fingerstick, micro blood collection devices, and transport and storage. The concept of a total-system approach to quality control for sampling and analysis is presented. For realistic quality control, the sampling component and the analysis component are inseparable. We describe types and sources of errors encountered. Most of the variability in the total system is associated with sampling.

Abstract Rosa canina L. fruit have been used internally as tea for treatment of viral infections and disorders of the kidneys and urinary tract. Also, it was reported that the R. canina fruit, with its high ascorbic acid, phenolics and flavonoids contents, have antioxidant, antimutagenic and anticarcinogenic effects. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, which cause oxidative damage to lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids and thus protect the organism. Research studies conducted on this topic have shown that natural antioxidants are involved in protection against many diseases: cancer, cardiovascular diseases and osteoporosis. Different processing and storage methods of the fruit could affect the bioactive nutrients while preserving the antioxidant capacity of them is very important. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of storage in a dry or frozen state on the antioxidants content of R. canina fruit. The evaluation involved determination of carotenes, ascorbic acid and total polyphenols using spectrophotometrically methods. Analysis performed on the R. canina fruit showed significant changes in the antioxidants content in fresh, dried and frozen fruit during storage.
