Application of game theory non-cooperative equilibrium method in construction project management informationization

Based on the comprehensive application and bibliometrical analysis of the non-cooperative equilibrium theory of game theory, this paper takes the construction project group as the research background, analyzes the obstacles to the application of management informatization in the construction project, and conducts a pair game study on the application of management informatization by single or group subjects. Aims to provide a valuable reference for the application of management information in construction projects, in line with the policy orientation, and has a certain practical significance. On the basis of combing the relevant literature on the application of management information in the field of construction industry and game analysis, this paper first analyzes the appeal, current situation and obstacles of the application of management information in construction projects. The game results show that there are specific management inspirations for different subjects: the designer should change the way of thinking, control the cost of management information application, and carry out in-depth communication with other subjects on building information to ensure consistency; Contractors need to improve their own ability to apply management information, but also to coordinate and control the relative importance of the three objectives, so that efforts can be more easily converted into positive results.

The avoidance of failure in construction projects is not an easy task, which makes the failure of the construction project to achieve its objectives a major problem experienced by all countries in the world, especially Iraq. Where nearly two-thirds of the construction projects in the world have been suffered by significant problems as an increase in the cost of the project, delay in the specified duration for execution, and stopping the project. Therefore it is required to study and apply new methods for managing the construction project to ensure its success and achieve its objectives. The aim of this study is to study the Agile project management method and its impact on the construction project. In addition, to identify the values and principles of Agile project management, which can be applied in the Iraqi construction industry to be adopted it as a new method to manage the construction projects in Iraq. The researcher reviewed the relevant literature to define the method of Agile project management and its methods and impact on the construction project. Then, the researcher conducted a questionnaire survey of a sample of engineers' experts who work in four main parties in the construction project: (beneficiary, supervising, designer, and contractor). The results of this survey showed that it is possible to apply the four values of Agile project management for managing the Iraqi construction projects, and can apply eleven of the twelve principles of Agile project management for managing the Iraqi construction projects.

Literature reveals that approximately 66% of construction project funds are raised from financial institutions. The burden of capital costs on contractors is heavy and financial alternatives for the reduction of capital costs are always desired. The objective of this study is to derive a mathematical way of defining the contractor's costs for factoring account receivables, which is a form of commercial finance whereby a business sells its account receivables at a discount. Factoring can be thus considered as a contractor selling his/her accounts receivable to a factor, a financial institution that provides the services of financing, credit management, and collection. Nevertheless, factoring has far not been used for construction project financing. The relevant literature, empirical practices, and factoring theories from outside the construction industry are all evaluated and the features needed to derive the cost function are explored and integrated. This includes commission costs, expected debt costs, and credit monitoring costs. The case study is utilized and discussed to illustrate the use of factoring for a construction project and its related costs. Under the given assumptions that represent the most common financial conditions in Taiwan, the simulation results show that the contractor's factoring costs without recourse for the construction project make up only 0.8% of the total costs of the examined project which is relatively lower than that of most traditional financing. In addition, the application of factoring has the advantage of facilitating financial management, instantly improving cash flow, enhancement of investment efficiency, avoiding extra loan procedures, improving credit rating, and transfer of financial risk. Factoring is indeed a feasible financial tool for construction projects. Santrauka Literatūros šaltiniai rodo, kad statybų projektuose apie 66 % lėšų gaunama iš finansų institucijų. Rangovams tenka didžiulė kapitalo sąnaudų našta, taigi visuomet pageidautina turėti finansinių alternatyvų kapitalo sąnaudoms mažinti. Šiuo tyrimu siekiama surasti, kaip matematiškai nustatyti rangovo sąnaudas, gautinas sumas perduodant pagal faktoringą, kuris yra komercinio finansavimo forma, kai įmonė savo gautinas sumas parduoda su tam tikra nuolaida. Taigi galima sakyti, kad faktoringo atveju rangovas savo gautinas sumas parduoda faktoriui – finansų institucijai, kuri teikia finansavimo, kreditų tvarkymo ir pinigų rinkimo paslaugas. Tačiau faktoringas ne itin naudojamas statybų projektams finansuoti. Įvertinama atitinkama literatūra, empiriniai pavyzdžiai ir su statybų sektoriumi nesusijusios faktoringo teorijos, nagrinėjamos bei integruojamos savybės, leidžiančios išvesti sąnaudų funkciją. Jos apima komisinius mokesčius, numatomą skolos kainą ir kredito stebėjimo sąnaudas. Atliekamas ir aptariamas atvejo tyrimas, siekiant parodyti faktoringo naudojimą statybų projekte ir susijusias sąnaudas. Pasitelkus tam tikras prielaidas, atspindinčias dažniausiai Taivane pasitaikančias finansines sąlygas, modeliavimo rezultatai rodo, kad statybų projekto atveju rangovo sąnaudos faktoringui be regreso teisės sudaro tik 0,8 proc. visų nagrinėto projekto sąnaudų, o tai gerokai mažiau už daugumą tradicinių finansavimo būdų. Be to, faktoringas duoda ir kitokios naudos: palengvina finansų tvarkymą, iškart pagerina pinigų srautus, padidina investicijų efektyvumą, leidžia išvengti papildomų paskolų procedūrų, pagerina kreditingumą ir perkelia finansinę riziką. Taigi faktoringas – išties tinkamas finansinis įrankis statybų projektams.

Complexity covers entire construction project cycles. At construction work procurement stage, organization and processes complexity is a major concern, especially in government procurement. Complexity requires regulation and control are such that it does not happen obstacles at every project construction cycle stage.

WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) plays an important role in every construction project. WBS is a hierarchy of decreasing scope of work to become the smallest level called a work package, making it easier in the process of project management and control. The current problem is that many contractors in Indonesia, both large and small contractors, do not understand the importance of using WBS in a construction project. This causes project performance to be less than optimal, especially on cost and time performance. Currently, WBS standards have been developed for building projects. In this study will look at the cost and time performance of the project from the use of WBS standard building. The sample used in this study are projects that have applied the use of project standards. The projects include Building X, Lecture Building Y, and Sports Facility Building Z. The method used in this study is the EVM (Earn Value Method) approach, collecting data using questionnaires. The results showed that using the WBS standard had an effect on cost and time performance. Good cost and time performance is shown in the Building X and Lecture Y buildings. While the cost and time performance of the Z Sports Facility Building tends to be unstable. This is because the work items that exist in the WBS standard are not in accordance with the project conditions, so it is necessary to adjust work items.

Construction projects in all regions continues to be developed for the creation of facilities that can be utilized by the community. One of them is the construction of apartments which are now being intensively carried out to meet residential needs for the community. Making a construction project plan always refers to estimates that exist at the time development plan is made, therefore problems can arise if there is a discrepancy between the plans that have been made and the actual reality. So the impact that often occurs is the delay in the time of project implementation which can also be accompanied by an increase in the cost of implementing the project. In the construction project of Cinere Terrace Suites Apartemen & Citywalk, Jakarta there was a delay resulting in a late payment of monthly bill progress by the owner. Based on the above reasons, this research was conducted to find out how the project performance was seen from the cost and time period of the review period. how is the estimated cost and time to complete the overall project work. The method used in the analysis of this study is the Earned Value Method. Based on the results of the analysis carried out for 29 weeks the project performance on schedule has been delayed and cost shows a positive value. For the estimated completion time of the project there is an increase in time whose duration increases from the planned 98 weeks or 685 days to 109,624 weeks or 768 days. While the estimated cost of completing the project from the results of the analysis obtained a value of Rp. 270,147,448,569.16 smaller than the planned cost of Rp. 315,272,727,272.73. With the difference VAC of Rp. 45,125,278,703.57 this shows that there are benefits obtained by the contractor.

Technology use in all fields can play an important role as the booster in creating lean and efficient processes. Technology use may result in reduced duplications and delays in workflows while helping to speed up task realization. Building Information Modeling (BIM) enhances knowledge share, use and reuse for better collaboration, communication, coordination, and monitoring as a knowledge base platform. BIM enhanced construction projects may positively affect the process efficiency. The aim of this paper is to define a measurement instrument of BIM usage as technology enhancer tool and of process efficiency of construction projects. Research leans on the prominent literature to concrete the measurement instrument. A survey is established to construction project professionals to understand the technology efficiency and process efficiency in BIM enabled construction projects. The research based on the related data collected from 92 professionals experienced both in traditional project delivery methods and BIM enabled construction projects. The respondents are the construction industry experts comprised of construction project managers, BIM managers, and BIM implementation experts (architects, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers etc.). Data is analyzed and tested with structural equation modeling software to verify the proposed measurement instrument. The technology efficiency and process efficiency factors for BIM enabled construction projects are tested and refined. Research findings present the measurement instrument for both technology and process efficiency in BIM enabled construction projects.

With the development of information technology, both Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology and lean construction concept became more and more widely applied in the engineering field in our country, meanwhile.resulting in their prominent synergies with each other. BIM technology and lean construction concept are designed aimed at reducing wastes, saving costs, increasing productivity, and creating maximum value at the same time. Therefore, it will be more effective on value creation for their collaboration compared to their separate utilization from engineer perspective. This paper reports the combined technique between BIM technology and lean construction concept for its application in the cost management of engineering project of the building throughout the life-cycle among BIM mode, the lean cost analysis and control research. This combined technology is shown to be not only the main characteristic of construction enterprises but also the reference on improvement of production efficiency as well as competitiveness.

One of the main problems the construction industry faces is the high cost and slow execution time due to inadequate planning, which results in poor use of human resources. A common solution for reducing time and costs is the adoption of prefabricated components (prefabs). This paper proposes a novel methodology for interdisciplinary man­agement of construction projects by integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Lean Thinking to improve the production planning and control of pipe-rack modules in an industrial facility. The article first presents a literature review to assess the key synergies between BIM and Lean Thinking. These led to the development of a new integrated work methodology named Digital Obeya Room. This model focuses on the required workflows, the analysis of collected data, and the visual management of construction planning and control. A real-world empirical study in the Oil and Gas industry evaluated how the newly devised practices could improve prefabrication and preassembly planning. The pro­posed methodology was capable of reducing the welding-time in 8.7% related on global prefabrication average in con­struction projects from Fails Management Institute (FMI) prefabrication report survey 2017.

Variation order (VO) is one of the main issues faced by the construction industry in Jordan. Many researchers had investigated on the causes of VO and proposed procedures to minimize and control this issue; however, the VO is affecting the construction industry badly even at moment. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a powerful management system that can make a significant difference in the project costs. However, BIM has not been examined as a tool to minimize the VO in Jordan. The main target of this study is to utilize BIM applications in reducing the effect of VO on the governmental projects in Jordan. In order to achieve this target, the researcher has designed a questionnaire to gather data related to VO causes and the BIM capability to solve this problem. The data collected from the questionnaires were analyzed statistically. The result from the analysis found that the consultant initiated the highest VO of 50% followed by the clients and the contractors of 20% and 10% unforeseen variation respectively. Moreover, it is found that BIM Design Applications, Facility Operations Simulation, Exploration Design Scenarios, BIM Design Detection and BIM Quantity Take-off and Cost Estimation were significantly capable of minimizing VO. The results show positive relationship with the application of BIM in minimizing VO in the construction industry in Jordan. © 2018. JASET, International Scholars and Researchers Association
