This research focused on the Nyangahatn ritual in Dayak Kanayatn indigenous people in West Kalimantan. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach with an emphasis on literature study. This paper uses the cultural theory, human ecology, and Disaster Mitigation and shows that there is a connection between those theories in Nyangahatn people’s rituals. Nyangahatn ritual related to the cultivation practices carried out based on the rice planting cycle. The results showed that the Nyangahatn ritual is a pearl of local wisdom, which is an effort in mitigating and adapting to disasters, especially regarding the planting and harvesting seasons. Forests or land cleared for cultivation are very calculated to avoid degradation and air sources. The Kanayatn Dayak indigenous people are very understanding about natural signs. In the process of land clearing for agriculture, it is essential to consider the ​​​​land area is to be planted so that it does not disturb the forest ecosystem. Meanwhile, the culture of balale' or gotong royong as a form of solidarity and harmony between community members is still maintained.

<em>The background of this research is the occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic in the world, including in the Landak Regency, West Kalimantan Province. Various efforts had been made by the government, religious institutions, and traditional institutions. Dayak traditional institutions in Landak Regency and all traditional administrators in various Dayak villages in Landak Regency carried out Balala' traditional rituals to prevent transmission. The purpose of this study was to describe the perceptions and reasons for the Dayak indigenous people to carry out the Balala' ritual concerning efforts to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19. This study used a qualitative method, where data was taken by observation, literature study, and interviews. Interviews were conducted by going down the field and also interviews via WhatsApp. The data analysis technique used an interactive model. The results showed that the Balala' ceremony which was held by the Kanayatn Dayak people in the Landak Regency of West Kalimantan, was believed by those who attended it to be able to free them from the attack of this COVID-19 outbreak, because of three things, namely: (1) they had invited Jubata to come on during the Balala' ritual so Jubata would protect them; (2) The traditional Balala' ceremony is in line with the government's call for social distancing; and (3) those who had been Balala' are clean so that the COVID-19 virus cannot enter them. This research needs to be continued especially to see firsthand the effectiveness of the traditional Balala’ ceremony on the transmission of the Covid-19 and the impact of this pandemic on the social, cultural, and economic life of the Dayak indigenous people.</em>

The implementation of todays forest management that based on formal-scientific knowledge and technical knowledge seems to fail to protect the forest from deforestation and the environmental damage. Decolonialisation of western knowledge could give an opportunity to identify and find the knowledge and practices of indigenous people in sustainable forest management. Forest management based on the indigenous knowledge and practices is believed easy to be accepted by the indigenous community due to the knowledge and practice is known and ‘lived’ by them. The Atoni Pah Meto from West Timor has their own customary law in forest management that is knows as Bunuk. In the installation of Bunuk, there is a concencus among the community members to protect and preserve the forest through the vow to the supreme one, the ruler of the earth and the ancestors, thus, bunuk is becoming a le’u (sacred). Thus, the Atoni Meto will not break the bunuk due to the secredness. Adapting the bunuk to the modern forest management in the Atoni Meto areas could be one of the best options in protecting and preserving the forest.

The Sendai Framework of Action 2015–2030 calls for holistic Indigenous disaster risk reduction (DRR) research. Responding to this call, we synergized a holistic philosophical framework (comprising ecological systems theory, symbolic interactionism, and intersectionality) and social constructionist grounded theory and ethnography within a critical Indigenous research paradigm as a methodology for exploring how diverse individual and contextual factors influence DRR in a remote Indigenous community called Galiwinku, in the Northern Territory of Australia. Working together, Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers collected stories in local languages using conversations and yarning circles with 20 community members, as well as participant observations. The stories were interpreted and analysed using social constructivist grounded theory analysis techniques. The findings were dialogued with over 50 community members. The findings deeply resonated with the community members, validating the trustworthiness and relevance of the findings. The grounded theory that emerged identified two themes. First, local Indigenous knowledge and practices strengthen Indigenous people and reduce the risks posed by natural hazards. More specifically, deep reciprocal relationships with country and ecological knowledge, strong kinship relations, Elder’s wisdom and authority, women and men sharing power, and faith in a supreme power/God and Indigenous-led community organizations enable DRR. Second, colonizing practices weaken Indigenous people and increase the risks from natural hazards. Therefore, colonization, the imposition of Western culture, the government application of top-down approaches, infiltration in Indigenous governance systems, the use of fly-in/fly-out workers, scarcity of employment, restrictions on technical and higher education opportunities, and overcrowded housing that is culturally and climatically unsuitable undermine the DRR capability. Based on the findings, we propose a Community-Based DRR theory which proposes that facilitating sustainable Indigenous DRR in Australian Indigenous communities requires Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners to genuinely work together in two-directional and complementary ways.

One of the historical relics is a cultural heritage building. Cultural heritage buildings located around student are necessary and important to be introduced to them so that they will be interested in studying history. In the city of Pontianak itself, there are cultural heritage buildings that student need to study as a source of historical learning, namely the cultural heritage buildings located in the Duizen Vierkanten Paal area as a Dutch historical heritage. This study aims to identify the sites of cultural heritage buildings in the Duizen Vierkanten Paal area of Pontianak City and how to use them in learning history at SMA Negeri 3 Kota Pontianak City. This research uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data was collected through literature study, observation, and interviews. The interactive analysis technique of the three components of the analysis used is data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing or verification. The results of this study are 1) Duizen Vierkanten Paal is the center of the Colonial government (Eropesche Bestuur) for Westersche Afdeeling van Borneo. There are several cultural heritage buildings left by the Dutch colonial government, including: The Old Bank Indonesia Building (De Javasche Bank Office Pontianak Branch), the Old Post Office (post telegraph office), the Kwarda Pramuka Building West Kalimantan and the Pontianak 14 State Elementary School (Holland Inlandsche School). 2) For the use of cultural heritage buildings located in the Duizen Vierkanten Paal area, teachers can implement it in the form of outdoor learning-based history learning. Salah satu peninggalan sejarah adalah bangunan cagar budaya. Bangunan cagar budaya yang terdapat di sekitar siswa perlu dan penting untuk dikenalkan kepada mereka sehingga meraka akan tertarik untuk mempelajari sejarah. Di Kota Pontianak sendiri terdapat bangunan cagar budaya yang perlu dipelajari oleh siswa sebagai sumber pembelajaran sejarah yakni bangunan cagar budaya yang terdapat di area Duizen Vierkanten Paal sebagai peninggalan sejarah Belanda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi situs bangunan cagar budaya yang terdapat di area Duizen Vierkanten Paal Kota Pontianak dan bagaimana pemanfaatannya dalam pembelajaran sejarah pada SMA Negeri 3 Kota Pontianak. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi kepustakaan, observasi, dan wawancara. Teknik analisis interaktif dari tiga komponen analisis yang digunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini adalah 1) Duizen Vierkanten Paal merupakan wilayah yang pusat pemerintahan Kolonial (Eropesche Bestuur) untuk Westersche Afdeeling van Borneo. Terdapat beberapa bangunan cagar budaya peninggalan pemerintahan Koolonial Belanda yakni antara lain: Gedung Bank Indonesia Lama (Kantor De Javasche Bank Cabang Pontianak), Kantor Post Lama (post telegraf kantoor), Gedung Kwarda Pramuka Kalimantan Barat dan Sekolah Dasar Negeri 14 Pontianak (Holland Inlandsche School). 2) Untuk pemanfaatan bangunan cagar budaya yang terdapat di area Duizen Vierkanten Paal ini guru bisa melaksanakannya dalam bentuk pembelajaran sejarah berbasis Outdoor Learning.

ABSTRAKKekerasan dalam rumah tangga adalah perbuatan yang dilakukan terhadap seseorang dalam bentuk fisik, verbal, seksual, dan psikologis yang menyebabkan penderitaan dan penelantaran rumah tangga. Tujuan: Mengetahui lebih dalam tentang pengalaman perempuan korban Kekerasan Dalam Rumah Tangga (KDRT) pada masa kehamilan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kampung Kawat, Kalimantan Barat. Metode: Desain penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi. Penentuan partisipan menggunakan purposive sampling dan snow ball.  Sebanyak 8 partisipan terlibat dalam penelitian ini. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara in-depth interview dengan menggunakan catatan lapangan dan perekam suara.  Data dianalisis dengan metode Colaizzi.  Hasil: Penelitian ini menghasilkan 6 tema yaitu bentuk kekerasan yang diterima oleh responden selama menjadi korban KDRT pada masa kehamilan, Masalah yang timbul pada kehamilan akibat KDRT, Mekanisme koping yang dilakukan korban KDRT, Perasaan yang dirasakan responden sebagai korban KDRT, Penyebab terjadinya KDRT pada masa kehamilan, Hal-hal yang diinginkan responden terhadap pelayanan kesehatan. Diskusi: pengalaman perempuan korban kekerasan dalam rumah tangga pada masa kehamilan memberikan dampak buruk terhadap ibu maupun janin. Hal-hal tersebut terlihat pada ungkapan-ungkapan yang diberikan partisipan bahwa perbuatan yang mereka terima masih membekas hingga saat ini, meskipun sudah tidak membekas pada fisik, namun masih membekas pada batin. Kesimpulan: Hasil penelitian ini dapat dikembangkan pada penelitian lebih lanjut dan menjadi tambahan informasi dalam dunia pendidikan, serta menambah wawasan dan motivasi perawat maternitas dalam memberikan asuhan keperawatan, misalnya pendampingan pada pasangan yang menikah di usia muda dengan memberikan edukasi terkait kesiapan pasangan dalam memasuki kehidupan berumah tangga.Kata Kunci: Kehamilan, kekerasan dalam rumah tangga, perempuan  Experience of Women Suffering from Domestic Violence During PregnancyABSTRACTDomestic violence is a physical, verbal, sexual, and psychological act committed against a person which causes suffering and neglect of the household. Objective: To reveal further the experience of women suffering from Domestic Violence during pregnancy in the working area of the Kampung Kawat Public Health Center, West Kalimantan. Methods: This research employed a phenomenological approach. Participants were taken using purposive sampling and snow ball. 8 participants were involved in this research. Data was collected by means of in-depth interviews using field notes and voice recorders. Data were analyzed by using the Colaizzi method. Results: This research resulted in 6 themes, namely forms of violence received by respondents while being victims of domestic violence during pregnancy, problems arising in pregnancy due to domestic violence, coping mechanisms performed by victims of domestic violence, feelings experienced by respondents as victims of domestic violence, causes of domestic violence during pregnancy, things that respondents wanted from health services. Discussion: The experience of women suffering from domestic violence during pregnancy has a negative impact on the mother and fetus. These can be seen in their expressions that the actions they receive are still imprinted today. Although no longer physically imprinted, but they are still imprinted on the mind. Conclusion: The research results can be developed in further research and serve as additional information in education, as well as add insight and motivation for maternity nurses in providing nursing care, for example mentoring couples who marry at a young age by providing education about the readiness of couples to enter a married life.Keywords: Pregnancy, domestic violence, women

Land fires are an annual agenda in Indonesia, especially in areas covered by peatlands. Peatland management using fire is the main cause. The general paradigm for land fires is that the farmers' economy is low. In fact, the factors that cause land fires are not only from the economic aspect, but from the social and institutional aspects which affect the behavior of farmers. Therefore, the purpose of this study is (1) to analyze the correlation of factors that influence land burning behavior, and (2) to determine the model for the changing of burning behavior into non burning farm land cultivation, in order to prevent land fire in Kuburaya Disrict and Bengkayang District, West Kalimantan. The research involved farmers farming on peatlands in both districts. Regression models was used for the correlation analysis. Based on the results of the regression analysis, a land burning behavior change model was determined based on the influencing factors descriptively. The result of the analysis showed the factors that significantly influence land burning behavior at the household level are knowledge level (consist of farming problems faced by farmers, agricultural extension materials and the application of technology), observance of rules, activeness of mutual assistance, cosmopolitan level, appraisal on burning behavior, and imitation level. The resulting model for changing the behavior of burning land is implementing activity of assistance, social capital stimulus and positive agreements/ pressure to the land users.

In addition, it explains the duties, functions and authority of traditional institutions in Aceh nowadays. This study is normative legal research. This study examines library materials that acquired through literature study. The technical/ approach used is the statute ap- proach, by using deductive analysis. The results of the study indicate that the existence indigenous people and traditional institutions in Aceh have shown their role in local community life in Aceh. This is caused by the community in Aceh has fulfilled the requirements of indigenous people as stated by the applicable law. The existence of traditional institutions in Aceh essentially has the function and role as a vehicle for public participation in the administration of the Government of Aceh provincial level and the Regency/municipality level in the area of   security, peace, harmony, and public order. Kajian ini menelaah bahan pustaka yang diperoleh melalui studi pustaka.  pendekatan yang digunakan ialah pendekatan peraturan perundang-undangan (statute approach), dengan menggunakan penalaran deduktif. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa keberadaan (eksistensi) masyarakat hukum adat dan kelembagaan adat di Aceh telah menunjukkan kiprahnya dalam tata kehidupan masyarakat di Aceh. Hal tersebut disebabkan oleh karena masyarakat hukum di Aceh telah memenuhi syarat-syarat masyarakat hukum adat sebagaimana yang disebutkan dalam peraturan perundang-undangan yang berlaku. Keberadaan lembaga-lembaga adat di Aceh hakikatnya memiliki fungsi dan peran sebagai wahana partisipasi masyarakat dalam penyelenggaraan Pemerintahan Aceh dan Pemerintahan Kabupaten/Kota di bidang keamanan, ketenteraman, kerukunan, dan ketertiban masyarakat. he article deals with the history of the development of entrepreneurship in the Northern Ob region among the Nenets, Khanty and Mansi. The author calls it «aboriginal” meaning that it as an economic activity that makes profit from the works directly related to the traditional sectors of the economy of the indigenous North peoples or from sale of products of economy. The article is based on the author’s field materials obtained during many years of field research (2000, 2002, 2003, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2017 years) in different areas of Khanty–Mansi Autonomous Okrug and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. It was found that two types of aboriginal entrepreneurship are developed in the Northern Ob region: institutional and informal. The first is represented by communities (either tribal or national) of indigenous people and farms. Their organization is socially oriented: communities are primarily a place of work for fishermen and reindeer herders. Community entrepreneurship is supported by the authorities of the district and the Okrug through a system of grants. The income of most community members is low, forcing them to seek additional income opportunities. The structure of communities of indigenous people is based on family ties. Informal aboriginal entrepreneurship spontaneously emerged in the crisis of the 1990-s and still does not give up its position. It provides the main income to families of private reindeer herders and fishermen. As a result of this aboriginal business quite stable client networks are formed that contribute to the social integration of local communities. Such entrepreneurship brings higher incomes, compared with the legalized formal ones, despite the lack of support from the “top” of the authorities. This largely contributes to its stability in the harsh northern conditions, where the market is small. The risk of being deceived is not an obstacle to the development of such business. The boundaries between institutional and informal economies in the North are penetrable and fluid. A private reindeer herder can be a member of the family community, and after delivering the minimum rate of products traditional industries can act as an independent businessman, selling products through his customers or visiting merchants. The same can be true for members of fishing communities. The interweaving of institutional and informal entrepreneurship forms a complex network of social and economic interaction in local communities.

When addressing disparities in health status of Indigenous Australians, it is necessary to consult with Indigenous people to explore their health needs. The process of improving health outcomes is complex; it requires acknowledgement of underlying cultural and social determinants of health and active engagement of Indigenous people to define the issues and identify solutions. The aim of this study is to explore the most appropriate research methodologies to determine Australian Indigenous community members’ perceptions of their health needs. A scoping review was conducted in BioMed Central, CINAHL, Informit Health, MEDLINE Ovid, ProQuest and Scopus databases and Google Scholar for all relevant literature published between 2009 and 2018. Extensive manual searches of reference lists were also undertaken. The limited number of articles relating to needs assessment with Indigenous community members prescribed broadening the scope of the review to include articles that describe methodologies to enhance Indigenous people’s engagement in the research process. Twelve papers met the inclusion criteria. Three major themes emerged: (1) the imperative to develop and implement Indigenist research methodologies; (2) participatory action research (PAR) and community-based participatory research (CBPR) as appropriate methodologies to conduct research with Indigenous community members; and (3) yarning or storytelling as a culturally appropriate Indigenous method of data collection.

AbstractCulture sector, which was transferred into the Ministry of Culture and Tourism since2001, was back to the Ministry of Education and Culture in October 2011. The changes oforganizational structure in ministerial level should be followed by changes of organizationalstructure in officials in provincial level. But in reality, the majority of provincial governmentsretain the culture sector together with tourism sector. This case provokes a question why thechange of organizational structure in the ministerial level is not followed by most of the officialsin provincial level. The method of this study is literature study of some articles and essays frombooks and internets, which contain history of culture sector in ministerial level, role of culturefor tourism, role of culture for education, as well as examples of official that manages culturesector in three provinces (West Kalimantan, West Sumatra, and Yogyakarta Special Region). Theresults shows that many officials merge culture sector together with tourism sector because themeaning of culture sector is considered to have a stronger synergy with tourism than education.The provincial government considers that culture sector needs to be empowered for the benefitof tourism sector. Conversely, tourism development will strengthen people’s culture in theirprovinces. Culture-based tourism development will also increase local income for the province AbstrakBidang kebudayaan yang sejak tahun 2001 bergabung dalam Kementerian Kebudayaandan Pariwisata, mulai Oktober 2011 beralih kembali ke Kementerian Pendidikan danKebudayaan. Perubahan struktur organisasi di tingkat kementerian tersebut semestinya diikutidengan perubahan struktur organisasi kedinasan di tingkat pemerintahan provinsi. Namundalam kenyataannya sebagian besar dinas di tingkat provinsi tetap mempertahankan bidangkebudayaan disatukan dengan bidang pariwisata. Hal ini menimbulkan pertanyaan, mengapaperubahan struktur organisasi di tingkat kementerian tersebut tidak diikuti oleh sebagian besardinas di tingkat provinsi? Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah dengan melakukanstudi pustaka terhadap tulisan-tulisan dan laman-laman, yang memuat tentang sejarah bidangkebudayaan di tingkat kementerian, peran kebudayaan terhadap pariwista, peran kebudayaanterhadap pendidikan, serta contoh-contoh dinas yang menangani bidang kebudayaan di tigaprovinsi (Kalimantan Barat, Sumatera Barat, dan D.I. Yogyakarta). Hasil kajian menunjukkanbahwa hal tersebut disebabkan pemaknaan bidang kebudayaan yang dianggap lebih bersinergidengan pariwisata daripada pendidikan. Pemerintah provinsi memandang bidang kebudayaandapat diberdayakan untuk kepentingan bidang pariwisata. Sebaliknya, pengembangan pariwisataakan memperkokoh kebudayaan masyarakat di provinsi tersebut. Perkembangan pariwisatayang berbasis kebudayaan juga akan meningkatkan Pendapatan Asli Daerah (PAD) bagi provinsitersebut.
