Rice and fish have been an essential part of the life of Indonesian people which produce from rice field. The research was conducted during two years (Dec.2008 to Sept.2010) using a purposive random sampling using three plots in lowland and terrace from Manik Rambung Rice Field (MRRF). Two types of rice crops (Ciherang and IR 64) are cultivated showed 6 orders, 21 families, 34 taxa and 25 species. Oligochaeta, Ephemeroptera, Hemiptera, and Diptera were identified respective families, while families of Odonata and Coleoptera were further identified to species. There are three categories of Dominance Index (DI) in a rice field, these are D=Dominant ( 5% individual); A=Accessory (2.5%  D  5% individual) and O=Occasional (2.5% individual) with four families (Baetidae, Chironomidae, Tubificidae and Ceratopogonidae) as ranked high on the DI list. The Kruskal-Wallis test showed significant differences between the abundance of aquatic organisms during the time of sampling (χ2=1274.840, P=0.000), rice-growing seasons (χ2=16.393, P=0.001) and rice cultivation phases (χ2=8.618, df=4, P=0.004). The study about fish farming produce plant and animal proteins and sustainable for food security in Northern Sumatra.

This study aims paused analyzing the relevance of local wisdom toward efforts in achieving sustainable food sovereignty in Bangsal Village, Pampangan District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. This exploratory descriptive study was conducted in Bangsal Village, Pampangan District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency in February 2020. Data collected were both of primary and secondary data. The analyses show that the swamp marshland was managed into three parts, i.e. buffalo husbandry, swamp fish farming and rice farming is provably more appropriate. For the buffalo husbandry, the community apply their local wisdom of kalang (shepherd) system. While for the fish farming, the capture fishery (beje) system was used. Futhermore, for rice cultivation, it consists of several stages with their respective local wisdom used, i.e. a) tillage, using rewang and perarian systems, b) Seeding, using seeds from their last harvest, c) planting, transplanting, spaced planting, or direct planting (tunjam) d) fertilizing, using weeds or wild plants, e) maintaining, with local wisdom, using scarecrow and plastic surrounding field, f) harvest, mutual cooperation in cutting the rice with sickle (ngarit bersama), and g) post-harvest, selling the harvest directly or self-storage. The results show mean of 54.60 from the 7 indicators and it was included in high criteria. It is conluded that there was a significant relevance between local wisdom and efforts to achieve sustainable food sovereignty in Bangsal Village.

AbstractRice is a staple food in East Java, and the average consumption is 100 kg/capita/year. However, rice productivity has declined dramatically in recent years. Food security can be reached by improving the technical efficiency of rice farming, especially in rice farming centers such as East Java Province. This study aims to measure technical efficiency and its determinants using two limit tobit. And it also aims to examine the effect of the technical efficiency of rice farming on food security using logit regression. Technical efficiency will be measured by using data envelopment analysis (DEA). The results show that the technical efficiency of rice farming is very low in East Java. Government assistance, irrigation, and extension have a significant effect on technical efficiency. Meanwhile, membership of farmer organization has no effect on technical efficiency. Around 69% of farmers can be categorized as food secure households. The estimation of logit regression shows that household size, income, land size, education, age, and gender significantly influence food security in East Java. Meanwhile, credit and technical efficiency did not have any significant effect.

We studied macrophyte and diatom assemblages and a range of environmental factors in the large hypertrophic Dehtář fishpond (Southern Bohemia, Czech Republic) over the course of several growing seasons. The spatial diversity of the environment was considered when collecting diatoms and water samples in three distinct parts of the fishpond, where automatic sensor stations continually measuring basic factors were established. Macrophytes were mapped in 30 segments of the fishpond littoral altogether. High species richness and spatiotemporal variability were found in assemblages of these groups of autotrophs. Water level fluctuations, caused by the interaction of fish farming management and climatic extremes, were identified as one of the most important factors shaping the structure and species composition of diatom and macrophyte assemblages. The distance of the sampling sites from large inflows reflected well the spatial variability within the fishpond, with important differences in duration of bottom drainage and exposure to disturbances in different parts of the fishpond. Disturbances caused by intensive wave action are most probably a crucial factor allowing the coexistence of species with different nutrient requirements under the hypertrophic conditions of the Dehtář fishpond. Due to a range of variables tested and climatic extremes encountered, our study may be considered as a basis for predictive model constructions in similar hypertrophic water bodies under a progressing climate change.

Abstract. Although Trichoderma spp has been widely used in the SRI technique of rice cultivation the sources of Trichoderma that can adapt well to the local environment have been an interesting issue for quite some time.  It is commonly agreed that the local Trichoderma is much more preferred to be used for rice cultivation. In the present study, the Trichoderma from the soil of a rice field in Sukawati District,  Bali where conventional fertilizer and pesticide has been applied for a very long time was isolated.  After macroscopic observations (green color and sweet coconut smell ) the single isolated fungi have very much resembled Trichoderma Harzianum. 2 mL of the Trichoderma Harzianum solution was introduced in a plastic container containing 200 g half-boiled rice. After seven days the rice in the plastic appeared green. This sample will be used to produce more T. Harzianum for rice cultivation. One of the T.Harzianum treated rice hosts was coated with gold and subjected to SEM observation. Very high populated T. Harzianum fungi were observed. It was  dominated by hyphae. No conidia and conidiophores were spotted. Instead, quite a high density of spherical and oval shape spores was observed. Such a high density of T.Harzianum will certainly meet the requirement for an efficient application in the cultivation field. It would also be interesting to see the interaction between such a highly populated T.Harzianum  with other fungi or pathogens in understanding the role of Trichoderma as an antipathogen

Sleman Regency has many attractions that trigger urbanization which can be seen from the phenomenon of land-use change. This phenomenon occurs in Sleman Regency particularly in the area of food security and sustainability which is spreading in various districts such as Moyudan, Minggir, Sayegan, Godean, Mlati, and Tempel. The phenomenon of land change must be managed and controlled because the areas have an important role for food security in Sleman Regency. The method used for the research is descriptive method. Survey is a part of descriptive method which used to determine the existing conditions of land use in the research object areas. Whereas for land-use changes in the area of food security and sustainability in Sleman Regency from 2012 to 2018 was obtained with the method of land-use map overlay obtained from Quickbird imagery in those years.Land-use change in the area of food security and sustainability of  Sleman Regency reaches 57.33 km2 or 33.93% from the total of research study area. Land-use change is dominated by the diversions of rice fields to forests that reach 15.05 km2. The driving factor for this phenomenon is the decreasing annual productivity of rice field.
