One of the fundamental economic determinants of sustainable development is the optimal use of limited resources and the use of environmentally friendly-nature, energy, and material-saving technologies, including the extraction and processing of raw materials, the creation of environmentally friendly products, minimization, processing and disposal of waste. In this study, in order to clarify the indicator "ecological potential of the region", it is proposed to consider a number of indica-tors that, according to the authors, have a significant impact on this phenomenon. One of the significant indicators for assessing the ecological potential of the territo-ry is the indicator of the area of landfills for the disposal of solid municipal waste (MSW) in a particular region. The authors hypothesize that the change in the vol-umes of landfills for the disposal of solid municipal waste (MSW) in a particular region depends on the type of development of the territory. As the main defining indicators (factors-arguments) of the development of the region were chosen: the number of manufacturing enterprises, population and gross regional product (GRP) per capita. The authors have developed a regression model to determine the degree of influence of a number of socio-economic indicators on the volumes of landfills for the disposal of MSW. Significant parameters were determined for terri-tories with different types of regional development (extensive type of develop-ment. Using the method of regression analysis, it was found by calculation that for regions of all types of development, the decisive factor that affects the volume of landfills for the disposal of MSW is the population of the territory. With the help of the coefficient of elasticity, the closeness of the relationship of the considered fac-tors-arguments was determined.

The article has developed a project for the reconstruction and recultivation of the Gusinobrodsky solid municipal waste landfill to create a complex system for the processing, utiliza-tion and disposal of the ballast of municipal solid waste. New, environmentally friendly and cost-effective areas have been selected to provide a modern system for the management of municipal waste.

The paper considers the improvement of the process conditions for the extraction of high-quality components from solid municipal waste (MSW) for the manufacture of heat-insulating products. A new approach to waste processing with the component extraction is required, and new materials are being sought for heat-insulating products. The purpose of this work is to select the optimum method of MSW segregation, which will be applicable to the morphological composition of wastes in Russia to obtain cleaner raw materials. The main problems of waste segregation are high content of organic waste polluting the components and equipment, low automation and recovery coefficient of waste components due to a single run of waste. The main research methods include a comparative analysis of technological and environmental criteria and labor costs of MSW segregation differing in Russia and abroad. The proposed new method of MSW segregation requires new approaches to the waste use for the production of modern materials. The first problem to be solved is MSW segregation and preparation for further utilization. A search for new, eco-friendly, safe and economically feasible heat-insulating materials is important in the construction field. The proposed method will increase the recovery rate of waste fractions and productivity per unit time.

Discourse on green construction and sustainable development is currently a major topic in everywhere, including Indonesia. In every production activities, the manufacturing process always produces waste or residual production. In connection with the issue of sustainable development, certainly, the problem of waste utilization that frequently occur in the industrial sector should be minimized and handled so that no adverse impact to the environment. The interior design enterprise is one of the creative industries which is mostly using wood as a raw materials, waste generated from this manufacturing is not in small amount. The community service was collaborated with two interior design enterprises, namely CV Abstrak 3D and CV Garis Pratama, both located in Kendari and classified as a small enterprises. The main activity was to given assistance on the production process-based eco-design, which is a production process that applies the principles of environmentally friendly in every process. Environmentally friendly starting from the identification phase, production, waste processing, until the marketing phase. Through this community service, an increase in productivity as well as knowledge were achieved by both of partners. One of examples of productivity improvement is the ability of the enterprises to process production waste into some valuable goods Keywords:  creative industry, interior design, furniture, eco-design, wood waste utilization

The article discusses the geo-environmental conditions of Voronezh region, which have a significant impact on potential environmental threat of solid municipal waste (MSW) facilities. Zoning of the region was carried out according to the priority of potentially dangerous geoecological factors to be assessed when choosing the location of MSW landfills. Conclusions made in this work can serve as recommendations in formation of a resource-saving environmentally friendly waste management system in the territory of the Voronezh region.

In various regions of Russia, there is some sort of crisis in the handling of municipal solid waste. The National Project "Ecology" is aimed at solving this problem, as well as the federal projects "Integrated system of solid municipal waste management" and "Implementation of the best available technologies". However, in the processing and disposal of waste, the problems of preserving the environment (ecology) often come into conflict with the financial component of the development of the industry (economy). The aim of the study is to determine the integrated environmental and economic efficiency of waste management at the regional level. The study considers the scheme of the technological process for the processing of municipal solid waste and assesses the efficiency of replacing the technological equipment at the "EcoResourcePovolzhie" enterprise based in the city of Togliatti. The authors suggest modernization of separation technology to improve the efficiency of waste processing. With the replacement of the existing separators with drum separators, screens RMZ TR-4500, the efficiency coefficients of the sorting and extraction process, the percentage of selection of secondary raw materials, increase. The costs of replacing drum separators were determined, the economic effect and payback period of the proposed modernization were calculated, as well as the environmental effect of reducing the flow of waste to the landfill, extending the life of the landfill, reducing the risk of the release of hazardous components into the air in the event of fire at the landfill, soil pollution and aquatic environment, as well as reducing disposal costs.

The article is devoted to a relevant topic - formation of approaches to improving the management system of the process of handling solid municipal waste. An analysis of the available scientific sources allows us to conclude that there is a trend in the integration of project management and the concept of sustainable development in the Russian industry. On the basis of the process and design approaches, the authors have proposed a structural and functional model of the processes of handling solid municipal waste at the regional level, the result of which will be the transformation of part of the waste into secondary materials and energy resources.

A systematic analysis of the concept of "sustainable development of the region" is carried out . The classification of factors that affect the process of sustainable development is given. A three -factor resource model for the formation of sustainable development of the region , including human, financial and raw materials, is described. The necessity of systematic monitoring as an element of regional development control is substantiated.

The paper assesses the carcinogenic risks from emissions of solid municipal waste landfill for the case when the residential development zone potentially falls within the boundaries of the sanitary protection zone, as well as for the normal situation when the employee of the landfill is on its territory for 8-hour shift.
