This study investigates how university students engage with their learning affordances in a contested environment due to the Coronavirus pandemic. This qualitative research employed a case study approach involving 136 participants. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative analysis as a circular process to describe, classify, and perceive the phenomenon and how the learning, affordances, and society were interconnected. The main framework of the research was the theory of affordance and how it was available for university students in their learning environment that changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Data were collected in the first semester of 2020 through an online survey on Google form. The findings indicate the importance of the social environment to provide affordance for the students to adjust with them. Four kinds of affordances emerged from the study; internet affordance, assignment affordance, domestic affordance, and distance learning affordance. The role of the social environment is definitive in changing how students manage their affordances.

The current research aims at identifying and measuring the political knowledge of the students of the two universities of Al- Balqaa in Jordan and Omar Al- Mokhtar in Libya. The two communities are almost similar in terms of the social formation, Arab customs and traditions, the Bedouin values, the difference in the institutional age and the political stability.The study attempts to measure and compare the political knowledge in the communities of the two universities using the descriptive and comparative analytical method. The study uses a 400 random questionnaire of 30 paragraphs to measure eight indicators divided into internal and external political knowledge, and other aspects of knowledge: general political knowledge, knowledge of the political institutions and leaders, the political interest, the geographical and historical knowledge, and knowledge of the methods of exercising the political process. The study also attempts to identifying the most important sources and the role of the university in university students’ political knowledge.The results show that the level of the political knowledge is medium while its level in the sample of the Jordanian students is high. According to the samples, the internal political knowledge is more than the external knowledge with a lack of interest in the political matters. The samples do not consider the political matters as their priorities. The political knowledge as a whole needs to much effort to be exerted to confront the current circumstances. The variables of the place of resident, age and the educational level make big difference in the political knowledge. In contrast, the level of the parental education does not create big differences.

People differ in their value hierarchies, i.e., in the importance they attach to basic personal values. A large number of studies were performed to establish similarities and differences between national, ethnic, or professional groups in terms of Schwartz’s values structure. In addition to this sample-level approach, we found it useful to disclose a number of subgroups within those larger social groups, which are more homogeneous in themselves and reflect the individual-level types of personal values systems. The study was performed on university students (n = 1237) who were asked to fill in the SVS и PVQ Schwartz’s questionnaires. The sample was then treated with the K-means cluster analysis, which resulted in the division of the initial sample into three subgroups or clusters according to their values hierarchy being measured separately at the (1) Normative Ideals scale and (2) the scale of Behavioral Priorities. These clusters were equally common among male and female students, but they were unequally found in young people coming from different ethnic groups and regions, demonstrating the role of socio-cultural environment in building up personal values. The results may extend our capabilities for the prediction of the social, economic, and political behavior of the younger generation.

The increase in media importance in different communities is due to the creation of media tools, and the importance of individuals in society with these tools, especially television, so we see if media or television are in a way Positive is used in a way that plays an important role in bringing about the social change of development and development in all aspects of life in society, and if it is misused, it will have a bad effect on all individual parties in society, so this study contains three goals: - knowing the role of television in creating anxiety by students in a general way Knowing the role of television in creating anxiety by students based on gender change Knowing the role of television in creating anxiety by students according to the stage change Researchers used the method of resolution, the limit of this research by Raparin University students for 2020-2021, the Research Society consists of all students of the Basic Education College whose number is 1216, the sample of research consists of 100 (1,4) stage students from all different departments, the scale of the study prepared by researchers, The most important results of the research are anxiety by the example of the study, which is no different from the gender and stage changes.

The purpose of the study is to explore the negative role of social media on university students mental health amidst digitalized COVID-19 setting that throbs excruciating pain, fear, anxiety, stress and depression. The quantitative and qualitative data were collected from the Department of English students of a public university in Punjab, Pakistan. The findings reveal that students' are engaged daily for 4 hours on social media forums for online chats, information and amusement. The social media platforms strategically create situations to express unrestrained sentiments. The use of cartoons and images reflect students' potential for creativity, criticality and social innovation.

<p>People with Down syndrome experience a type of ambivalent stigmatisation, which combines stereotypes, emotional reactions, and both positive and negative attitudes. The aim of this study is to analyse the relationship between ambivalent attitudes towards people with Down syndrome, and the levels of intergroup trust and anxiety felt towards them. A total of 144 university students completed a questionnaire on their social perception of people with Down syndrome, indicating the extent to which they anticipate an interaction with this group based on trust or anxiety. The results show that responses to people with Down syndrome are ambivalent. Moreover, while intergroup trust is preceded by high levels of admiration and competence, intergroup anxiety is associated with high levels of aversion, compassion and low admiration. We discuss the implications of these results, taking into account how to enhance the social perception of people with Down syndrome, as well as the complex role of compassion in the assessment of stigmatised groups.</p>

    This study aims to identify the role of the means of communication by changing social, cultural, economic and political trends ,from the viewpoint of Palestinian university students in west bank, in the light of some demographic variables, and to achieve the objectives of the study were used descriptive and analytical approach, the study sample consisted which was the analysis of the data from the (168) students , they applied a questionnaire consisted of (28) items, divided into four main areas. The study concluded that a set of results, including: that the role of the means of communication in changing social trends came by (88.96%), and was the area of ​​change in the social sphere in the first place with a relative weight reached (96%), followed by a change in the cultural field relative weight was ( 91.06%), then the economic sphere relative weight was (89.90%), and was the last level the political field by (82.90%). and it found that there were no statistically significant differences between the averages of students' estimates of the role of the means of communication in changing social attitudes attributed to the variables of age, sex, social status, and academic level. In light of the results of the study the researcher recommended the need to encourage dialogue; to increase awareness to achieve positive change through media and advertising campaigns, and the importance of university curricula included topics about youth participation in political programs, economic, and social and cultural to bring about positive change.

The article discusses the motivation of the educational activities of bachelor students in the direction of «Social Work». The factors and stages of the motivation process, the dynamic characteristics of the motivation system are revealed. The role of the motivational block in the structure of educational activities of students is revealed. A comparative analysis of the motivational profi le of students is carried out on the basis of studies of learning motivation conducted by the author in 2015 and 2019. Diagnostic tools have become the methodology «Studying the motivation of learning at a university» T.I. Il’ina and «Studying the motives of students’ teaching activities» by Artur Rean and Valeriy Yakunin. An additional research method was the analysis of essays in which students argue for the presence or absence of a desire to continue their education in a chosen direction and to continue to work in the social sphere. The results obtained made it possible to single out the most signifi cant learning motives and their dynamics among students of the Social Work direction. An analysis of the essay showed that in general, about 80% of students spoke more positively about the prospect of working in their acquired specialty. In conclusion, a conclusion is drawn about the growth of motivation indicators on the scale of «mastering a profession», maintaining the signifi cance of the «motives acquiring knowledge» and «obtaining a diploma», as well as the inclusion of the motive «receive intellectual satisfaction» as the priority motive instead of «gaining the approval of parents and others».

The study investigates the predictors of schadenfreude by studying the moderating role of interpersonal jea lousy. Firstly, the study intended to investigate the predictors of schadenfreude among adolescents university students. Secondly the study examined the moderating role of interpersonal jealousy between interpersonal jealousy and social comparison. In this regard, Social comparison leads towards schadenfreude and interpersonal jealousy were moderate their relationship at adolescent’s age. Participants comprised of 300 adolescent’s. Data was collected by administering schadenfreude Questionnaire, Batool, 2013. Interpersonal jealousy Questionnaire and social comparison Questionnaire. SPSS-20 has been used for data analysis. The study has been administered. Social comparison had positive correlation with Schadenfreude. Interpersonal jealousy had Positive correlation with Schadenfreude. Thus the Social comparison and interpersonal jealousy are positive analysts of schadenfreude.

AbstractThe main aim of this study was to explore the mediating role of learning engagement on the relationship between social networking site (SNS) addiction and academic achievement among 406 university students. The Social Networking Site Addiction Scale, Utrecht Work Engagement Scale for Students, and Chinese Students Academic Achievement Scale were used to evaluate students’ SNS addiction, learning engagement, and academic achievement. Correlation analysis indicated that SNS addiction, learning engagement, and academic achievement were significantly correlated with each other. The causal steps regression and bootstrap analysis show that learning engagement mediated the relationship between SNS addiction and academic achievement. Implications for research and instructions for how to improve university students’ academic achievement are discussed.
