The article presents the generalized results of research on the formation of professional preparation of future physical education teachers for organizing sports events in the context of the leading trends in the development of physical-pedagogical education and physical education in the framework of extra-curricular sports activity. The content of education is enriched with new methodological skills, the development of the ability to operate with information, the creative solution of problems of science and pedagogical practice with an emphasis on the individualization of educational programs, the role of pedagogical science in the creation of educational technologies that are adequate to the level of public knowledge. Updating the content of education and teaching technologies, the emergence of many problems in improving the quality of teaching physical education lessons, the development of extracurricular sports and the management of the process of physical education require the restructuring of the education system, the improvement of which ultimately depends on the level of professional training of teachers.

Grounded in SDT, several studies have highlighted the role of teachers’ motivating and demotivating styles for students’ motivation, learning, and physical activity in physical education (PE). However, most of these studies focused on a restricted number of motivating strategies (e.g., offering choice) or dimensions (e.g., autonomy support). Recently, researchers have developed the Situations-in-School (i.e., SIS-Education) questionnaire, which allows one to gain a more integrative and fine-grained insight into teachers’ engagement in autonomy-support, structure, control, and chaos through a circular structure (i.e., a circumplex). Although teaching in PE resembles teaching in academic courses in many ways, some of the items of the original situation-based questionnaire (e.g., regarding homework) are irrelevant to the PE context. In the present study, we therefore sought to develop a modified, PE-friendly version of this earlier validated SIS-questionnaire—the SIS-PE. Findings in a sample of Belgian (N = 136) and French (N = 259) PE teachers, examined together and as independent samples, showed that the variation in PE teachers’ motivating styles in this adapted version is also best captured by a circumplex structure, with four overarching styles and eight subareas differing in their level of need support and directiveness. The SIS-PE possesses excellent convergent and concurrent validity. With the adaptations being successful, great opportunities for future research on PE teachers (de-)motivating styles are created.

Reflections from a teaching formation: school physical education articulated with environmental educationABSTRACTBACKGROUND: The text presents the approach on continuing education with teachers from Rio de Janeiro Municipal Education Secretariat (SME-RJ) based on experiences with the “Orienteering Sport” that motivated the formulation of an interdisciplinary proposal to be developed in School Units.OBJECTIVE: Seeking to analyze the possibility of an educational action between School Physical Education and Environmental Education through a pedagogical practice with the Orienteering Sport.METHODS: Two teaching courses were offered, distribution of didactic material (Pedagogical Guide to Orienteering Sport) for the development of practical classes in School Units, and the possibility of two external classes in natural environments for the practice of sport. The Physical Education teachers who participated in this formative process made an assessment of the experiences provided with the Orienteering Sport inside and outside the School Units. RESULTS: Teacher training enabled successful experiences with the practice of Orienteering Sport, both in the school environment and in the natural environment. For teachers, the experiences enabled reflections and discussions on interdisciplinary work for socio-environmental issues and unprecedented experiences immersed in natural environments for students.CONCLUSION: From the opportunized experiences and positively evaluated by the teachers, the importance of expanding and deepening the pedagogical proposal was understood. Thus, the Coordination of Curricular Extension Projects (CPEC) of Municipal Education Secretariat (SME) plans and organizes itself to develop Project #MAPAAÇÃO, aiming at the materialization of pedagogical actions that intrinsically relate education, sport and sustainability through Orienteering Sport.

BACKGROUND Physical education teachers often experience stress and job disengagement. OBJECTIVE This study aims to develop a measurement scale of job disengagement among physical education teachers and to present an explanatory model by presenting the mediating role of perceived stress as a major factor in disengagement and job satisfaction, also the relationship between family and work as an indirect effect for this phenomenon. METHODS A total of 268 primary and secondary school physical education teachers, made up of 165 men (54.46%) and 138 women (45.54%) participated voluntarily in our study. The measuring instruments are the work disengagement scale, the Perceived stress scale, the Work-family conflict scale (WFC), the family-work conflict scale (FWC), and the scale of dissatisfaction at work. RESULTS the Arabic language versions of the WFC and the FWC had reasonably adequate psychometric properties which were justified by confirmatory analyzes and by the measurement of reliability, convergent and discriminant validity through the measurement model in SmartPls. Likewise, the structural model established with the SmartPLS software confirmed strong links of the concepts FWC, WFCS, the questionnaire of job satisfaction, the perceived stress with the disengagement of work among teachers of physical education. CONCLUSIONS There is a growing interest in helping teachers cope with the daily pressures of work and family. A positive organizational context is a context with clear values regarding work priorities that constitutes the basis of a feeling of shared responsibility and professional support.Good conditions can act as protective factors reducing work stress and positively influencing personal well-being, work attitudes, work commitment, and professional efficiency. Additional teacher research is needed to examine the relationship between perceived work stress and the role of families, also the extent to which this association can have a significant impact on teachers' commitment to work.

AbstractSince the first years of high school instruction in the Principality of Serbia, various Ministers of Education, principals and first gymnastics teachers had been thinking about physical education instruction. Better political, economic and cultural situation in Serbia together with the influences and ideas arriving from culturally developed European countries gave rise to several initiatives related to physical education instruction which were introduced into high school curricula.Persons with different qualification levels were engaged as physical education teachers (gymnastics teachers) and they remained at that position for a few years. The aim of the paper was to establish who the PE teachers were in High School of Užice since its establishment until the beginning of the First World War (1839-1914). Historical method was used in this paper. From 1839 until 1878 there were no organized physical education classes (physical exercise and gymnastics) because the first teachers in this school were not interested, or experienced about this type of instruction. By the written approval, the Minister of Education appointed in September 1878 the first gymnastics teacher Steva Trifunović, teacher of painting and calligraphy. In the next period the classes used to be realized by teachers of Serbian language, geometry and algebra, geography or officers and sometimes even all other homeroom teachers.Regardless the fact that those were all people who had acquired basic knowledge on physical exercising in military schools or in gymnastic societies, it was still not enough for professional work in PE education and its further promotion. The solution to the problem was initiated only in 1910. when Josef Jehlička came, at the invitation of the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Serbia, together with a group of Czeck Sokol leaders who had been sent to work in High School of Užice and improved quality of physical education classes in that school thanks to his professional competence. That led to the conditions for the PE classes in High School of Užice to become more significant in the system of general education of students.
