Teaching and learning in the 21st century require students to become active thinkers in using technology to learn, innovate, communicate, and discover new knowledge. Instagram media was a great tool to showcase learning in an innovative learning environment where students took ownership of their learning and ideas. It could be used as hands-on training and build local and professional communities' knowledge. The sample for this study was 15 students from Tritech Informatika High School located in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Data was collected through interviews and related literature. Data analysis was analyzed using open coding methods that examined classified, tabulated, or combined evidence to solve the original research problem. Qualitative analysis that was conducted showed that Instagram media was the most used social media platform among participants, preferring to use it for educational and language learning purposes. This showed that social learning positively affected learning material research, motivation, academic and academic achievement satisfaction, and cooperative learning.

Students' lack of Arabic language skills might be caused by some factors, such as the models and strategies used by teachers, the students’ excitement in learning and their character. This study aimed to research on the epistemology of Arabic learning based on ICT. It was designed to find the Arabic learning model based on ICT. It assumed that integrating various fields of study with ICT, including Arabic language learning, is essential to be developed in this digital era. However, there are obstacles experienced by several schools, especially the teachers, they do not have a specific format for using ICT to integrate both scientific subjects. Descriptive qualitative research was used in this research. The data collection was done through observation, interviewing the teachers and one hundred X grade students, and documentation. The data were analyzed by using the Miles and Huberman technique. The results showed that the design of the ICT-based in Arabic learning model development is “al-hasub al-ittishalî”, this is an innovative Arabic learning model based on ICT. In this model, the materials and other learning tools are designed in a computer program. As stated by E. L. Criswell, computers provide opportunities for students to participate and respond to the student’s activities actively. This model contributes in making the teaching and learning process more effective. With this model, the teacher is expectedly able to become a learning motivator and a mediator to explain some materials to the students. Besides, the use of ICT is a must considering the digital era.

An afford to chose the right teaching and learning strategy in the teaching of chemistry topic is very crusial as it is known that chemistry knowledge and skills are involveed. The teaching and learning paradigm have to be ajusted to support the enactment of competence curriculum suited to Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia, KKNI). The policy has been stated in Universitas Negeri Medan to adopt KKNI curiculum, including in Analytrical Chemistry. Therefore, innovation in the teaching and learning have to be made for all subjects in the implementation of a competence-based curriculum suited to KKNI. The aim of the research is to implement an innovative learning material with project to improve students’ performance in the teaching of complexometric titration topic of Analytrical Chemistry. The research steps are consisted of providing sets of mini project on complexometric titration topic, innovation of a learning package with multimedia, and implementation of innovative learning material as learning media in the class. Research results showed that a standard and innovative learning package containing of mini projects for complexometric titration topic have been developed suited to the KKNI curriculum. The project example and the video to do the projects that are provided in the learning package are found effective to guide the students to do the desire project. Integration of multimedia in the learning package has motivated the students to learn the topic and make chemistry easy to learn. An innovative learning material with project has been proved to be able to improve students performance in analytical chemistry procedures. The facility available in a learning package adequate to guide the student to learn chemistry independently and students centre learning style was achieved.

Today's digital age has an important impact on education. One of the learning models to increase the motivation of learners in learning in the digital era is flipped learning with reverse learning models. This research is a type of literature research. This research data source uses a variety of literature from various journals. Data analysis in this study uses content analysis. The results of this study show that the application of flipped classroom in the digital era has been able to increase students' learning motivation both at school and at home. Because students have studied the learning material before entering the class which means that the teacher is no longer dominant in controlling the class so that the interaction between the teacher and students becomes better and is very enjoyable in learning. Therefore when designed effectively, the flipped classroom method can increase the students' motivation towards the course. Also, suggestions for practitioners were discussed in this study

The European Language Portfolio (ELP) is a unique, pan-European language learning material, aimed at supporting life-long language learning and the development of learner autonomy and intercultural competences. The article outlines the ELP's origins, structure and functions, and its impact on foreign language learning and teaching in Europe. Of the Slovenian ELP models, the two intended for primary school have been the most widely-implemented. Their implementation was the subject of a three-year study, in the context of a national piloting project involving over 600 learners and 100 teachers, held in 2008 and 2009. Due to the complexity and scope of the study, this article focuses on the perspective of the teachers, as carriers of pedagogical innovation. The results show that the two versions of ELP validated for Slovenian primary schools are judged by the teachers as being quality materials which are well-adapted to the learners. This pilot period yielded a number of positive effects in both teaching and learning, most notably more communicative and learner-centered instruction formats, and an increase in the learners' motivation and self-assessment skills. The main concern was strained lesson planning, due to the fact that the ELP was not integrated into the curriculum. Overall, the study shows that, of the two parallel functions of the ELP, the documenting of language learning and achievement is more readily embraced, while the self-assessment and self-directedness aspects involve a paradigm shift, which would require further sustained and widely-supported implementation. This would enable the full unfolding of the ELP's great potential for the promotion of language and intercultural competences and lifelong learning in Slovenia and in Europe.

The spread of Islam in Indonesia is closely related to the activity of Arabic language learning. As a code of linguistic expressions in learning Islam, the first aim in learning Arabic language in Indonesia is to fulfill people’s need in praying. In the second phase, Arabic language learning developed at many Islamic Boarding Schools. There was awareness that Arabic language was not only a tool in understanding a text, but also a tool for communication. It makes many people, especially those who studied abroad in the Middle East, motivated to innovate in the education development such as finding new concept and new teaching method especially in Arabic language teaching. In the third phase, Arabic language learning is nowadays used in a formal education and it is still in the process of completion of its curriculum, learning objective, learning material, teaching method, and its teaching media used in the teaching and learning process.

This chapter describes how TESOL educators can partner with global aid organizations, local communities, and learners themselves to leverage low-tech yet innovative learning solutions like text-message lessons with the goal of more equitably reaching learners, particularly those affected by disruption to their education such as those who are migrants/refugees. Taking such action as advocates committed to closing opportunity gaps arising from social issues affecting language learning not only involves the TESOL educator in the six principles for exemplary teaching of English learners but also UN Sustainable Development Goals as a framework, trauma-informed teaching and learning, and the concept of text messages used as micro-learning. Through a UNICEF case study of practice in action, the author provides a stepwise how-to for redesigning curriculum into micro-learning appropriate for text-message delivery and offers considerations and recommendations for its dissemination, evaluation, and potential application to many other contexts and learner populations at scale.

In language learning, phraseology is rather neglected. One reason could be that there is not much teaching and learning material prepared for this domain. This is why during the EU-Project EPHRAS (from October 2004 to September 2006) a phraseology data bank in four languages (German, Slovenian, Slovak and Hungarian) with more than 4,000 idioms and relevant exercises was created. The following article presents examples of how to teach high school students with different language competences the phenomena of phraseology with the help of new learning media. The foreign language phraseology can be learnt in the form of traditional classroom learning as well as in the form of distance learning.
