Language is used in communication as a way to express their thoughts and feelings. Communication is how people use the message to give meaning to other people. Good communication happens when the speakers and the listeners can deliver their intended message clearly to understand each other. In communication, there is a theory called the cooperative principle. The cooperative principle is elaborated in four sub-principles or maxims. These maxims will make sure the information about the topic that is being discussed in the conversation clearer. However, some people sometimes communicate without following these maxims or violate maxims, knows as hedging maxim. This research aims to reveal the types of hedging maxims used by the characters in Bunker of the Dead movie. Grice’s cooperative principle is to analyze the research. Descriptive qualitative is employed as the research method, and a movie transcript as the research data. The result of this research shows that there are three types of hedging maxims, namely hedging maxim of quality, hedging maxim of relevance and hedging maxim of manner. One of the maxims, namely hedging maxim of quantity, does not exist in the movie. The most used hedging maxim is the hedging maxim of quality.

Communication is a human activity everyday, people always communicate each other. Sometime people do not realize what they are talking about. To make a good communication, human must follow cooperative principles. That is why Grice offers to use theory of cooperative principle to avoid misunderstanding and misinterpretation between the speaker and the listener. However, some people do not fulfill those maxims to be used in the conversation for certain reasons, and when they violate the maxims it is called flouting maxims. A descriptive qualitative approach is used for this study because the data are in the form of words rather than of numbers and statistics. This study reveals that based on theory of Grice’s Cooperative, there are four maxims which are flouted by the main characters of  “Home Alone Part 2 ‘Lost in New York’” movie this movie since 1992 directed and written by John Hughes. The result shows that there are four Maxims Flouted by the main characters there are flouting maxim of quality, flouting maxim of quantity, flouting maxim of relevance, and flouting maxim of manner. And there are several reasons of flouting those maxims are data finding also revealed that the communication could still even though the main characters flouting the maxims. Four reasons by the main characters to flout the maxims are competitive, collaborative, convivial, and conflictive reason. In terms of types, quantity maxim flouting is in the highest rank and relevance maxim flouting is in the lowest rank. In terms of strategies, overstatement is the most frequently used and metaphor is the most rarely used. As a lecturer in a business class, it might be interesting to dig deep to advertisement slogan embedded with sexual content like Condoms advertisement. This advertisement uses implicit language in the way they promote the product because it mostly leads to free sex. Therefore, the phenomenon of advertisers creatively uses the implicit slogans to attract their customers about their product might be interesting to discuss. This study aims to investigate the use of conversational implicature and the violation of cooperative principle or maxims occurred in condoms advertisement slogan and investigate the perception of business class students toward the analysis of this advertisement slogan to learn. It was descriptive qualitative research with 15 condoms advertisement slogans to be analyzed and 15 business class students to be interviewed. The result came with 100% particularized implicature used, 100% of violating of maxim of quantity, 100% of violating of maxim manner, 73 % of violating maxim of quality, and no violation in maxim of relevance. In conclusion, advertisers are using particularized implicature and violation of some cooperative principles or maxims to avoid informative messages in promoting their product (condom) which is banned in their advertisement rule. However, the advertisers keep making the slogans relevant to the products, so that some particular people can easily understand the message conveyed by the slogans. Moreover, the business class students agreed that this analysis should be important to learn because they will work as an entrepreneur who thinks about utterances in creating slogans for advertisement, especially sexual content. Further research should analyze more slogans in sexual content and use more techniques of analysis.

This research aimed at analyzing the types of maxims of the cooperative principle that were used in the novel entitled The Fault in Our Stars. The data source of data was a novel entitled The Fault in Our Stars that fulfilled cooperative principle based on four maxims of cooperative principles: Maxim of quantity, maxim of quality, maxim of relation, and maxim of manner. Theory that the researcher used in this research was theory of Grice. In this research, a descriptive qualitative method was applied to answer the research questions. The observational method and non-participatory technique were applied by the researcher in collecting the data. In analyzing the data the researcher used pragmatic identity method based on the theory of Sudaryanto. The results showed that the level of cooperative principle was mostly used in the novel. The researcher found 30 data related to cooperative principle. The maxims of quantity have 15 data, 3 for maxim of quality, 10 for maxim of relation and maxim of manner has only 2 data.

This study analyzed the maxim flouting in David Letterman and Aishwarya Rai in David Letterman Show,. This study aims to find out which types of maxim flouting are performed by David Letterman as the host and Aishwarya Rai as the guest in the talkshowas well as to describe the reasons why the maxim flouting performed by the two. Qualitative research method was used in this study, and the data were presented in a descriptive analysis. This study dealt with a pragmatic approach and employed one of the Pragmatics theories, namely the Theory of Conversational Maxims or Cooperative Principle. Data in this study are analyzed pragmatically based on Grice’s Cooperative Principle and its maxims. The data of the study were the utterances of  the maxim flouting performed by David and Aishwarya. They were collected by downloading the episode of the show and watching the show. The researchers used Grice’s theory called Cooperative Principles with the four types of maxims, i.e: the maxim of quality, maxim of quantity, maxim of relation, and maxim of manner to analyze the maxim flouting in the talkshow. The results showed that all four types of maxim flouting were performed by both David and Aishwarya. In conclusion, the maxim flouting happened in the talkshow were beneficial to avoid discomfort and to give more explanations.

Health education is one important component in caring for children with surgical cases. Health education is done to clients and families as an intervention of various nursing problems that appear both pre and post surgery. This study aims to find out how the implementation of health education provided by nurses to families of child surgical clients. This research method is descriptive qualitative phenomenology by using in-depth interview. The number of participants was 5 nurses. The amount is determined after the researchers assume that the research data saturated. The research produced five themes: preoperative health education, postoperative health education, postoperative nutrition, surgical wound care and post operative post pain. The health education provided by the majority nurses is physical. Psychosocial should also be a topic in health education provided by nurses to clients of children and their families.

Research on the study of the use of greeting in Banjarese which stay in Kapuas District of Central Borneo.This Research focused to describe the greeting word used by the people, particularly the greeting word in Banjarese used by the first generetion in Kapuas. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection by observation with a look at, involved notes. Sources of research data used is the preference of all speech that is displayed by 1) Aged over 30 years, 2) Native language studied. 3) Knowing its own culture, 4) The Banjarese are the first generation derived from Banjarmasin, 5) The Banjarese who had lived in Kapuas. Based on this research shows 1) Greetings kinship to greet our parents (father + mother) → (+ Uma Abah); Greetings kinship parents to greet our father and mother (grandfather + grandmother) → (kai + nini); Greetings kinship to greet parents our grandparents are corrected; Greetings kinship to greet both parents protested was waring; Greetings kinship to say hello (brother + sister) → (kaka + ading). Greetings kinship to say hello if our children have children (grandchildren) → (grandchildren); Greetings kinship to say hello if we have children and grandchildren is a great-grandfather. And 2) The system of daily greeting, to call people who may be called ikam lifetime, lives. I use the word, unda to appoint themselves. As for honor or call older used the word pian, and said ulun to appoint its own self.

The researcher discusses the meaning contained in the magazine because language users often do not understand the meaning contained in written language, namely idioms. The reader is often difficult to understand because the meaning is no different with the original meaning o concept that embodies. Researchers focus the research by using three types of idioms, namely the meaning of the idiomatic based on the occurrences of idioms in the form of the mention of a part of the whole assumption, the meaning of the idiomatic based on the occurrences of idioms in the form of the mention of the material, and the meaning of idiomatic based on the type of idiom in the form of the expression. Research conducted discusses the word as material for analysis so that the required description of that detail. The research method used is descriptive qualitative because in accordance with the discussion and data sources that will be examined. According to the results of the analysis of research data about the meaning of idiomatic in Sounds magazine Education edition October-November 2018 that has been done found some kind of meaning idiomatic. The data is obtained based on the three focus that have been formulated in the focus of research. The data was found in accordance with the three focus of research, the first data are the city of santri, onde-onde city and samurai country. The second data are Plastic bags, banknotes and coins. And the third data are Baby, rising level and souvenirs.

This research was conducted due to the importance of cooperative principle in daily conversation, as Grice’s theory explained about cooperative principle which has been divided into four maxims: 1) maxim of quantity, 2) maxim of quality, 3) maxim of relation, and 4) maxim of manner. These four maxims are the rules that have to be obeyed by the speakers and the interlocutors during interactions. This research is focusing on maxim of violation occurred in Pretty Little Liars TV Series. The method used in this analysis is descriptive qualitative. Objects of the research are the types of the violation and also the implied meaning behind the violation. This research used the observation method using non-participatory technique in collecting the data, and pragmatics identity method in analyzing the data. In presenting the data, this research used informal method. The result of this research found out that there were fifteen violations happened in Pretty Little Liars, all of the maxims are violated during this show. The violation of maxim relation was the most dominant violation.

The research method in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research object is the cohesion discourse in Stand up Comedy performed by Dodit Mulyanto on Kompas TV. The technique used to collect the research data is by listening, SBLC, recording, noting, and taking transcription technique. The data then analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. The result shows that the cohesion aspects give much contribution in improving the whole Stand up Comedy discourse. The cohesion aspect in Stand up Comedy are grammatical cohesion (Pronominal, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction) and lexical cohesion (Antonym, hyponym, collocation, synonym, and repetition). However the aspect of grammatical conjunction much dominates in this research.

This study aims to describe the implementation of accounting procedures and internal control in micro enterprises. The research data were obtained from source persons consisting of micro business owners 'LBB Surabaya' and 'Travel Pahlawan', employees, and customers. The data were analysed using a descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the accounting records maintained were Cash Books that were matched with bank records. There have been no written accounting procedures and reconciliation between company’s cash records and bank books. Internal control was implemented in the form of good communication and values in holding trust. However, it is necessary to carry out reconciliation, transaction documentation and document archiving well and minimize cash transactions to reduce the risk of fraud and increase the accuracy of accounting data.
