The fishing industry plays a major role in development of Indian economy. The recent attacks on fishermen taking place in Indo-Srilanka and Indo-Pakistan maritime boundaries have been major concerns. These attacks are primarily caused by the lack of navigation and security features during the voyage. Hence the current situation demands the implementation of precise facilities for reducing man and material loss. This project involves the design and implementation of a Low cost Navigation and Security System for Indian fishermen on Arduino Nano platform. The system developed solves the above said issues by continously tracking the location of fishing vessel and providing minimal security features. The system ensures that navigation is in safe zone within the nation’s maritime boundary and also prevents crossover. This is acheived using GPS receiver which directly links to GPS satellites for current location of the vessel. The required data fields like the latitude and longitude data along with the time stamps are extracted from the GPS samples and used for comparision for determining the exact location of the vessel. This procedure will help in detection of corner cases when the vessel is nearing or about to crossover the maritime boundary, which cannot be marked physically. It is useful for triggering conditions like enabling or disabling fuel injection system, the warning beeps and display notifications to the fishermen. Manual override facility for restarting the engine in case of crossover for limited duration is provided. The security features like authentication for the genuine operator to get access to the engine panel, the support for distress message and the storage of the exact time stamps and GPS locations after encryption in case of initiation of transmitting distress message is provided as a blackbox feature. The passcode based mechanism allows for maximum of three attempts to unlock access to control panel. The GSM modem allows for transmission of distress message to the registered base station/coast guard. The encrypted GPS samples and time stamps are stored in on-chip EEPROM memory for future reference.

Industry 4.0 is a paradigm that enhances industrial automation systems with the recent advances in the domain of the Internet of Things (IoT), gaining new possibilities and providing new services. Traditional industrial machines do not have IoT capabilities, and in order to integrate such a machine into Industry 4.0, there is a need for an intermediary device or system that communicates with the machine through its supported communication interfaces and protocols and forwards the communication to the global network. This paper presents the development and experimental validation of a low-cost hardware module that can easily integrate the machine’s existing control unit into the IoT and enable synchronization of the measurements and states of the variables of the machine and its environment with a cloud server. The developed module is universal, can connect to any control unit that is able to communicate through basic RS232 serial communication, and does not require the control unit to have any higher level communication protocol implemented. On the other end, the presented solution uses a dedicated smartphone application to provide remote monitoring and control of the machine through the cloud by using the synchronized variable states, as well as further possibilities for storing, processing, and analyzing the historical data from the system. The developed solution was experimentally validated on an experimental setup consisting of a conveyor belt driven by a three-phase asynchronous electromotor controlled by a programmable logic controller through a variable-frequency drive.

Background: In the era of Internet of Things (IoT) automation of home and security systems was becoming remarkably easy. Many research works have been also conducted to bring the most convenient way of automating the home appliances and security systems but insignificant research has been carried out in providing the most comprehensive and autonomous or self-controlled home automation. The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive solution to mitigate the existing need. End users can interact with household appliances in a variety of means irrespective of platforms used and their geographical location through smartphone application developed. Using their speech as input users can also operate the electrical appliances via voice commands. In addition to the mobile application and voice command, by integrating some cloud services an attractive web interface would be provided as another alternative for better data presentation and analysis. The autonomous feature would allow the home to monitor and control its environment by itself through installed sensors, sharing data into one another and taking a relevant measurement without a need for human intervention Method: In order to achieve those performances the work will deploy an MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) messaging protocol to enable the modules easily communicates one another. Results: Multiple alternative means of controlling and interacting with home appliances was provided. Both autonomous mode and safe mode features would make the system to behave and run autonomously. Conclusion: The paper also embraces the presentation for an application of multiway, cross-platform and user oriented home automation and security system as well as convenient means of controlling and monitoring household electrical appliances.

Voice Communication Control System (VCCS) is a tool designed to make it easier for users to communicate voice by integrating all users (clients) and means of communication in one system and controlled using a control panel. VCCS is a voice switching device used in VHF A / G and Direct Speech communications. The benefit of using VCCS is that when the user makes flight communication it becomes easy because all frequencies and telephones are combined in a VCU (Voice Control Unit) so that the ATC desk/work desk is not filled with communication devices. In addition, to facilitate its use, the VCCS client control panel uses a touch screen system. AirNav Indonesia Manado Branch has a LESS brand VCCS equipment server manufactured by China. VCCS consists of two main parts, namely the server and client. The server is a processing center and control center for switching input and output, while the client or VCU (Voice Control Unit) is the device used by the user in VCCS operations. There are 7 VCUs at AirNav Indonesia Manado which are placed in the Tower room (3 VCU), APP room (3 VCU), and FSS Kompen room (1 VCU).

The article deals with the analysis and modeling of an adaptive system for integrated security provision as an element of the infrastructure of the situation center. The constantly changing conditions of the information environment and the global information space dictate the possibility of automated or automatic "adaptation" of security systems to the requirements of modern software systems. The main tasks for organizing the integration of an integrated security system into the situation center system and determining the rules for interaction with functional blocks is the analysis and implementation of various formalized procedures for ensuring integrated security. An adaptive integrated security system is considered as an object that implements the ability to manage and quickly build a security model for a situation center, depending on the problem being solved, or preventing or eliminating an incident. The proposed approach is dictated not only by an increase in the functionality of modern technologies, but also by the requirements for the creation of adaptive integrated solutions that are scalable within the architecture to protect against various types of threats. The use of an integrated security system within the framework of the proposed approach will make it possible to promptly respond to incidents of both external and internal nature, which will allow timely neutralization of the consequences of their influence. An adaptive integrated security system as a common platform will provide timely monitoring, context and control capabilities in various situations. The development of such an integration platform will improve automation and improve the quality of information provided by information security products.

Vehicle security is one of the major concerns that the entire world is currently experiencing. People generally own automobiles, yet these automobiles are not always secure. Vehicle theft occurs in parking lots, public places, and other unsafe areas. The vehicle’s manufacturer does not consider the vehicle security system to be a factor in the overall cost of the vehicle. Nowadays, only a few vehicles come equipped with high-priced security systems. Door locking, alarm system, GSM, GPS, and other security features are built into high-end vehicles only. There is a necessity to build a low-cost security system for vehicles that common people can afford it and the manufacture can built-in the security system in a wide range of automobiles. This paper proposed a method for vehicle theft detection, tracking, and accident identification using the Internet of Things.
