Learning mathematics has a significant contribution to the students’ daily activities, one of which is on social arithmetic topic. The implementation of social arithmetic, in general, is mostly found in buying-selling and banking activities. However, students still find difficulties in understanding this topic. It is because the teaching and learning activities still use a conventional approach, which restricts the students to imagine how it is implemented in daily life. Therefore, this paper aims to describe the innovative learning activities of social arithmetic among junior high school students using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. This research was conducted in three meetings, and the researcher acted as the teacher in the class. The results showed that the innovative learning of social arithmetic using the RME approach and word problems could improve the students’ learning outcomes with an average score of 81.92% and 92.59% of the total of students scored above passing grade.

The number pattern is one of mathematics topics taught for junior high school students that relate between arithmetic and algebra domain. This topic bridges arithmetical and algebraic thinking. Therefore, the learning for this topic should be designed meaningfully. This research aims to design a learning sequence on the number patterns using principles of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). To do this, we used design research method, particularly the preliminary design phase, with the following three steps. First, literature study was conducted to collect student difficulties in the learning of number patterns, relevant studies, and the theory of RME. Second, we observed Indonesian mathematics textbooks addressing the number patterns to see a learning sequence for this topic. Finally, we designed a learning sequence for the number patterns using the RME principles, particularly the reality principle, level principle, and intertwinement principle. The result of this research includes the learning sequence for the number patterns according to the RME principles, which consists of three activities: relationship between patterns and numbers; exploration of numbers; and generalization of number patterns. We conclude that the three principles of RME are fruitful for designing a meaningful learning sequence for the topic of number patterns.

This research was conducted as a descriptive study to determine the healthy lifestyle behaviors of high school students. The schools located in Rize Province were grouped (n: 9926). The number of samples was determined to be 370 according to the sample width formula, which is known as the number of individuals in the phase. A total of 449 volunteer students were selected from a high school in each group by simple random sampling method and the study was completed. To collect data, the personal information form and healthy lifestyle behaviors scale II, which were developed by the researcher, were used. The data were evaluated using percentile, ANOVA and t test. It was determined that the average score of healthy lifestyle behaviors scale II scores of the students was moderate with 128.06 ± 20.19. The average score of female students' health responsibility and interpersonal relationship scores were higher than male students (p <0.05). The average physical activity score of male students was found to be higher than that of female students (p <0.05). A significant positive correlation between the age of the students and the class with 'interpersonal relations' and the total score was found (p <0.05). The acquisition of positive health behaviors during the adolescence period is important to perform healthy behaviors in the future life of the individual. As a result of this study, it is suggested that education programs should be established to protect and improve the health of the students. Also, education should develop the self-efficacy of the students. Moreover, it should be conducted according to the low-scored areas and schools. Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.ÖzetBu araştırma, lise öğrencilerinin sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranışlarının belirlenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. This research is motivated by the lack of understanding of students' mathematical concepts in mathematics which is caused by a lack of motivation to learn in students and the lack of material connection with everyday life. Mathematics learning really needs to be learned by students because Mathematics has an important purpose to meet practical needs related to the development of students' abilities to use mathematics in everyday life, such as counting which is often experienced by students and can develop the ability to calculate weight. and content. Although Mathematics is considered important to learn, not a few students feel that Mathematics is difficult to master, so it is considered boring and makes students' interest in learning in Mathematics considered low. Based on the PISA annual study survey, the Indonesian Mathematics competency has decreased from 386 points in 2015 to 379 points in 2018 with an OECD average of 489. The benefits of studying Mathematics are used to make transactions in trade. One way to make mathematics more understandable is to use the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach so that students can learn more realistically. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in students' understanding of mathematical concepts using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach and whether there were changes that occurred after the treatment using this approach. This research was conducted with quantitative research methods and the research design of One Groups Pretest-Posttest Design. The subject of this research is class IV with a total of 28 students at SDN Curugrendeng II. The instrument used is a written test with a total of 10 questions. Calculation of data processing using Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and using IBM SPSS Statistics 22 with a significance level of 0.05. The results of this study indicate that there is an increase in students' understanding of mathematical concepts with an average value of 0.691 which is included in the medium category. Thus, the understanding of mathematical concepts of students using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach changes from before the action to the final score after the action. done. And there is an effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach on students' understanding of mathematical concepts by showing the results of sig.(2-tailed) 0.000 <0.05, which means H_1 is accepted so that this Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach can be applied to learning Mathematics in Primary school.
