This study assessed doctor of physical therapy (DPT) students’ perceptions of the educational environment at public and private physical therapy institutes in Pakistan. This cross-sectional study was conducted at 6 physical therapy institutions in Punjab, Pakistan from April 2018 to December 2019. In total, 500 Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) questionnaires were distributed among DPT students identified through convenience sampling (response rate, 86.4%). The correlations between each item of the DREEM score were analyzed. The mean overall DREEM score was 128±19.63 for all 5 subscales (range, 33 to 166; standard error of the mean, 0.954). The correlations of atmosphere, learning, and self-perception with the overall educational environment were r=0.896, r=0.853, and r=0.846, respectively. Student-centered approaches were found to be more effective than teacher-centered approaches for promoting a positive educational environment.

Introduction: Choosing a specialty after graduation plays an important role in the life of a student. However, little is known about students' preferences about selection of specialties in physical therapy students in developing countries. This study aimed to find out specialties' preferences and factors that influence students' choices of selection any specialty in physical therapy students studying in final year. Material & Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on students of physical therapy institutes located in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The study was carried out from November 2018 to April 2019. Data was collected from final year students only. All students who were eligible, were included for this survey and a total of 185 students participated in this survey. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants and questionnaires were distributed amongst them. The data collection tool used for this study was a semi-structured questionnaire. SPSS version 22 was used for data analysis. The measure of frequencies was obtained for variables and chi-square test was applied to measure the association between variables. Results: A total of 185 students, 101 (54.6%) female and 84 (45.4%) male with a mean age of 23.44 ± 1.54 years participated in this study. Among all the participants, 145 (78.3%) intended to specialize in the future. The most preferred specialty amongst these participants was Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy (n=80,43.2%). The least chosen specialty was Geriatrics Physical Therapy (n=2, 1.1%). Among male participants no one selected Gynecological Physical Therapy as specialty. Prestige within the profession was considered the most important factor for specialty preference (n=118, 81.4%). Conclusion: Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy remained preferred choice of specialty amongst students of final year studying Doctor of Physical Therapy in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The most important reported factor effecting specialty preferences amongst physical therapy students is prestige within the profession.

Background: Ever since quality of services is gaining importance in every industry as it is the indicator of consumer/customer satisfaction, it is of utmost importance to measure service quality of educational institutes to determine the satisfaction of students. Thus, the study aimed to determine the important factors in service quality dimensions which contribute to the satisfaction of students. Methods: This was a Comparative Cross Sectional study in which final year department of physical therapy (DPT) students were included from three private and three public physiotherapy institutes. Results: The largest mean Positive Gap scores for Public Physiotherapy Institutes was 0.18 for accessibility and affordability 0.18. The largest negative mean gap score for Private Physiotherapy domain was “Accessibility and Affordability” found to be -1.96. Conclusion: Students were satisfied with service quality of private institutes in all domains except for the “Accessibility and Affordability” whereas, in Public Institutes largest negative quality gaps were found in “Empathy” and “Assurance”.

Objective: Marital satisfaction is considered as satisfaction with a marital relationship on which the presence of a child has different effects. Concerns about a childfree life and its effect on marital satisfaction in infertile couples are very critical. Therefore, this study was intended to characterize and compare concerns about a childfree lifestyle and the need for parenthood and their relationship with marital satisfaction in infertile couples. Method: A total of 200 men and 200 women who referred to fertility centers in Tehran participated in this cross-sectional study. Convenience sampling method was used for sampling. Demographic survey, ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Scale, and Fertility Problem Inventory were used for data collection. The resulting data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistical tests (Pearson Correlation Coefficient and Stepwise Regression). Results: The mean scores for concern about a childfree lifestyle and the need for parenthood in women were significantly higher than in men. The variables rejection of a childfree lifestyle and the need for parenthood were respectively predictors of marital satisfaction in women and men. Conclusion: Since marital satisfaction in infertile couples is affected by their feelings about having a child and becoming a parent, it is therefore suggested that appropriate counseling be provided in supportive healthcare programs for infertile couples to promote their marital satisfaction.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the physical activity level in medical students of Ziauddin university in Karachi. MATERIALS AND METHODS This is a cross-sectional study. The data analysis included total 300 medical students, 60 students from each of Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy, Ziauddin College of Medicine, Ziauddin College of Nursing, Ziauddin College of Dentistry and Ziauddin College of Pharmacy of the Ziauddin University, Karachi. International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) was used to evaluate physical activity level of the students. RESULT Physical therapy students achieved the highest level of physical activity, with 33% performing high level of physical activity compared to medicine (18%), pharmacy (12%), dentistry (28%) and nursing (28%). CONCLUSION Medical students found satisfactory results of physical activity level. But the majority of students did not meet the recommended criteria of physical activity. Therefore medical students improve their own habits because they are well trained and qualified to promote healthy habits.

Objective: The objective of our study was to explore student’s perception of the educational environment in their respective medical colleges Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at two medical colleges (one public sector and one private-sector medical college), both affiliated with Khyber Medical University, Peshawar from January 2020 to March 2020. DREEM was used to measure the educational environment of both public sector and private sector medical colleges. Results: The overall mean score with standard deviation was 113± 22 SD for private medical college and 109 ± 25 SD for public sector medical college, which means more positive than negative perception. Private sector college overall score was better than public sector college but with no significant difference. Private sector medical college score was better in all DREEM subscales except Students’ Academic Self-Perception in which public college scored 18± 5 and private college scored 16± 5. Conclusion: There is a significant margin for improvement for all domains of the educational environment in both public and private sector medical colleges, especially the low scores in the domain of Students’ Social Self Perceptions need attention.

OBJECTIVE To determine the awareness and perception of Physical Therapy as a career among the intermediate students of Karachi. STUDY DESIGN It is a cross sectional study. STUDY SETTINGS AND PARTICIPANTS The settings of this study were two Private and two Government sector Intermediate colleges, offering Pre-medical and participants were students studying in these colleges. SAMPLING TECHNIQUE Non-probability convenience sampling technique. RESULTS Results revealed that only 13.5% of students were well aware of physical therapy as a profession in government and private colleges whereas, 31% in government colleges and 26.5% in private colleges had little knowledge. While 28% government and 30.5% in private were totally unaware of it. 75.7% and 83.5% from government and private sector students responded that physical therapy will be most rewarded in Orthopedic/Musculoskeletal fields respectively. CONCLUSIONS The awareness of Physical Therapy as a career among intermediate students would help in creating more effective marketing strategies. Unfortunately, a small percentage of the students are aware of physiotherapy and the services provided by this profession which implies that there is an urgent need for marketing campaign.

Objective: To identify the prevalence of Burnout syndrome in physical therapy students of the Universidad Tecnológica del Suroeste Guanajuato (UTSOE) during the period of confinement by Covid-19. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional study in the 355 Physical Therapy students at the University. The questionnaire included 15 items divided into three sections: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal fulfillment, which together constitute a pre-established scale, which was adapted to the context of the study to measure the level of burnout that the students faced during the period of confinement for COVID-19. Data analysis: Through descriptive statistics, distribution of frequencies calculated using Software 2010 Excel was applied. Contribution: To establish an antecedent of the need for strategies to reduce the emotional ravages generated by the period of confinement by COVID-19 in students through the identification of the prevalence of Burnout in them.

Abstract Team-based learning (TBL) is a strategy where teams work together to develop concepts and apply them towards problem-solving. This latest learning approach has not been tried in the educational environment of Rehabilitation Sciences. Hence, this study aimed to assess the knowledge and practices regarding TBL among undergraduate physical therapy students. A descriptive cross sectional survey was conducted involving 222 undergraduate physical therapy students who were selected via non-probability convenience sampling from Foundation University Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences over a period of three months (May 2018 - July 2018). Data was collected using questionnaire in the light of literature review, developed by Wright States University’s Department of Communication based on the Minnesota satisfaction questionnaire.
