This study was conducted to find out the students’ achievement motivation in learning English, to find out the students’ self-concept in learning English, to find out the students’ socioeconomic status, to find out the students’ English learning achievement. To analyze the correlation between students’ achievement motivation and English learning achievement, to analyze the correlation between students’ self-concept and English learning achievement and to analyze the students’ socioeconomic status and English learning achievement.This study employed correlational research. The technique of taking sample was random sampling. The population of this research was 90 students of the second year students of SMP Negeri 3 Bulukumba which belong to three classes. The sample of this research was 45 students. It took from 50% of population, 90 x 50/100 = 45 students. The research data were collected using questionnaires and test. The data were analyzed by using Likert scale and descriptive statistics through SPSS 17.0 version. The research result showed that the second year students of SMP Negeri 3 Bulukumba have high achievement motivation in learning English. This was proven by mean score of achievement motivation 81.57. It was classified into high achievement motivation categories ranges from 68 – 84 score. The students have high self-concept in learning English This was proven by mean score of self-concept 80.24. It was classified into high self-concept categories ranges from 68 – 84 score. The students have moderate socioeconomic status categories. This was proven by mean score of socioeconomic status 64.17. It was classified into moderate socioeconomic status categories ranges from 52 – 68 score. The students have good score in English learning achievement. This was proven by mean score of test 75.71. It was classified into good score in achievement categories ranges from 76 – 85 score. Based on the result of SPSS analysis about the correlation between achievement motivation and English learning achievement was positive and significant with r =  0.757 classified into strong category range from  0.60 – 0.799. The result of SPSS analysis about the correlation between self-concept and English learning achievement was positive and significant with r =  0.803 classified into very strong category range from  0.80 – 1.00. The result of SPSS analysis about the correlation between socioeconomic status  and English learning achievement was positive and significant with r =  0.324 classified into low category range from  0.20 – 0.399.education

This study aims to determine the role of classroom teachers in providing counseling guidance services to students, so that students at SD Negeri Wiradadi have achievement motivation in competitions. Based on the observation of researchers at SDN Wiradadi that SDN Wiradadi has several charter and trophies, as in the previous four years starting from 2016-2019. The championship in the Sokaraja District level competition that was obtained by the school in 2016/2017 contained 13 trophies. In 2017/2018 there were 8 championship trophies. In 2018/2019 there were 13 competition trophies. Schools often get championships to compete with other schools. The championship was obtained by students representing schools to take part in the competition, besides that research was conducted to find out the factors that influence students so that they could excel. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis of the data used is descriptive qualitative. This research was conducted with 10 respondents, namely the Principal, 3 class teachers and 6 students. The results showed that students in SD Wiradadi State already had high achievement motivation. Obtaining championships in students get support and guidance from a teacher. The role of the teacher in shaping students to be outstanding using counseling guidance services. Teachers have ways, approaches and strategies for students in implementing the counseling guidance service to form students so that they have high achievement motivation. Factors that can influence students to be outstanding are socioeconomic status factors, parenting practices, the education system, self-skills and teacher expectations.

The objective of this study was to find out the relation between students’ self-efficacy belief in learning English and their English learning achievement of the tenth grade students of SMAN 4 South Tambun in 2019/2020 academic year. This study used correlational study between two variables which was included in quantitative research. In this study, the writer took one class of tenth grade students which consist of 36 students as the sample. The writer found the correlation coefficient (r) result between students’ self-efficacy in learning English and their English learning achievement which was 0,628. Afterward, the writer compared r result to the interpretation of correlation table and showed there was positive correlation. Thus, It proves that self-efficacy belief encourages and helps students to improve their skills and self-confidence, and finally achieve better learning outcomes. The influence the use of multimedia learn and motivation achievement  of students in learning English lesson in school district 10 Palembang. Guided by Waspodo and H.Lin Yan Syah. In the process of achieving the goal of learning, the use of multimedia motivation to learn is also a very big role on the interpretation of student learning. Due to the learning motivation in students , thus increasing learning achievement is also high on student achievement. The purpose of the study is to investigate and examine the effect of multimedia learning and motivation against students in achievement learning English lesson in school in school district 10 Palembang. The study also wanted to know and test whether the two exogenous variables from the above that the dominant influence on student achievement in English language subject in school district 10 Palembang. Causal type of research is the research that aims to explain the influence of several variables. The object of the study were students and a sample set a of 60 samples. By using random sampling model analysis was used to prove the hypothesis that use of the Path Analysis Testing (path analysis) with AMOS, USING Structural Equation Model (SEM). SEM results with the value of CR (Critical Ratio) of-0 082 for multimedia on learning achievement and 8595 for Achievement Motivation Learning to learn, with CR Values > 1671 CR means of two values which are able to explain and a strong influence on the variable endogenous variable is the motivation to learn.  Where multimedia effect on motivation to learn is casually with the CR 3297

This study investigated the affect of home environment towards students’ English learning achievement at one university in North Sulawesi. Three variables were included parents’ education background, parents’ occupation, and parents’ income. The population was the students from second semester who enrolled in General English II. The instruments were used in data collections. They were information about parents’ socioeconomic status, English final grade of the students, and information about the family condition. The results showed that negative correlation, only mothers’ occupation had positive correlation towards students’ English learning achievement. This study investigates the impact of a 3D virtual learning environment based on Second Life on student motivation and achievement in learning English as a second language. Twenty-one university students participate in this study, with the support of an English instructor. The Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) was used to evaluate students’ intrinsic and extrinsic goal orientation and self-efficacy in Second Life. The pre-test and post-test were used to assess students’ learning achievement. The results showed that students’ intrinsic and extrinsic goal orientations in English learning in Second Life had a positive influence on their self-efficacy. In addition, students’ self-efficacy of English learning in Second Life was found to positively relate to their learning achievement. Moreover, students’ intrinsic and extrinsic goal orientations were found to significantly influence their learning achievement via self-efficacy. In other words, instructors can utilize Second Life to enhance student motivation and achievement in English learning.

Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa yang diajar dengan strategi pembelajaran Quantum dibandingkan dengan siswa yang diajar dengan strategi pembelajaran ekspositori; (2) hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa yang memiliki Motivasi berprestasi tinggi dengan hasil belajar siswa yang memiliki Motivasi berprestasi rendah; (3) ada tidaknya interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran dan Motivasi berprestasi siswa terhadap hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain faktorial 2 x 2. Uji statistik yang digunakan adalah statistik deskriptif untuk menyajikan data dan dilanjutkan dengan statistik inferensial dengan menggunakan ANAVA dua jalur dengan taraf signifikan α = 0,05 yang dilanjutkan dengan uji Scheffe. Sebelumnya dilakukan uji analisis berupa uji nornalitas dan uji homogenitas.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa yang diajarkan dengan strategi pembelajaran Quantum lebih tinggi dari pada hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa yang diajarkan dengan strategi pembelajaran ekspositori; (2) hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa yang memiliki Motivasi berprestasi tinggi lebih tinggi dari pada hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa yang memiliki Motivasi berprestasi rendah; (3) terdapat interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran dengan Motivasi berprestasi dalam mempengaruhi hasil belajar siswa. The method used is a quasi-experimental design with 2 x 2 factorial statistical test used is descriptive statistics to present data and continued with inferential statistics by using ANOVA two paths with significance level α = 0.05, followed by Scheffe test. Previous test analysis form nornalitas test and homogeneity test. The results showed: (1) the results of English learning students taught with instructional strategies Quantum higher than the results of English learning students taught by expository strategy; (2) the results of English learning students who have high achievement motivation is higher than the results of English learning students who have low achievement motivation; (3) there is interaction between learning strategy and achievement motivation in influencing student learning outcomes.   Keywords: learning strategies, achievement motivation, reading the narrative text english

The background of this research wasthe variation ofstudents’ achievement in learningEnglishatschool. Academic self-concept and motivation were assumed to have the most dominant effect on students’ achievement in school. The purposes of this study were: (1) to describe the academic self-concept, (2) motivation, (3) the achievement of English learning, (4) to test the contribution of academic self-concept to English learning achievement, (5) to test contribution of motivation to English learning achievement, (6) to test the contribution of academic self-concept and motivation to English learning achievement, and (7) to describe the preparation of Guidance and Counseling program to improve academic self-concept, motivation, and students’ achievement in the school. This research was done through quantitative approach with descriptive correlational method and qualitative approach. The population in this study was the students of XII IPA 1 to 4 of SMA 8 Padang. The sample was chosen by using simple random sampling. Meanwhile, informants in qualitative approach were the teachers of Guidance and Counseling. The Instrument used in the quantitative approach was questionnaire. On the other hand, the key instrument in the qualitative approach was the researcher. Quantitative data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, simple linear regression and multiple regression. While, qualitative data were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman’s model. The findings of this research showed that: (1) the average description of the academic self-concept of students was in medium category, (2) students' motivation to learn was at high category, (3) the students’ English learning achievement was at goodcategory, (4) there is a contribution of academic self-concept to the students’ English learning achievement amounted to20.3% (R = 0.451, sig. 0.000), (5) there is a contribution of motivation to English learning achievement of students amounted to 32.9% (R = 0.573, sig. 0.000), (6) there are contributions of both academic self-concept and motivation to the students’ English learning achievement amounted to 60.1% (R = 0.775, sig. 0.000), and (7) most of the Guidance and Counseling program for XII class of SMAN 8 Padang A.Y. 2015/2016 have been arranged well and the materials related to the improvement of academic self-concept, motivation, and students’ achievement have been contained and written in the Guidance and Counseling program that has been arranged.

The paper investigates the use and frequency of memory language learning strategies in learning English of students of the Faculty of Economics at Kragujevac University. Taking into consideration the importance of using English in their future careers, a total of 146 students at first and second year of learning English at the Faculty of Economics in Kragujevac were researched. The respondents filled in the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) and a Background Characteristics Survey. The results of the types of memory strategies and their frequency are presented. The aim of the research is also to provide information about the use of memory strategies both to university students in general and their teachers which would help improve their use of English.
