The implementation of zoning policy  through the regulations of Minister of Education and Culture No. 51 in 2018 raises new problems in Indonesia. Some of these problems are also experienced by people in Cimahi. This research is motivated by the need for the local government of Cimahi to restructure and rearrange the adequacy of State Elementary Schools graduates to enroll State Junior High Schools in Cimahi. This qualitative descriptive research was carried out by processing data, organizing, analyzing, summarizing, and describing the conditions as they are related to the zoning map data for the 2019/2020 academic year of Cimahi. Zoning map for the 2019/2020 school year, the draft of local regulations of Cimahi, and also Minister of Education and Culture No. 51 of 2018 r concerning admission of new students are processed and analyzed qualitatively to see how adequate the access of education at State Junior High Schools seen from the number of its graduates that can be accommodated, as the effect of zoning policy. From the results of data analyzing, the conclusions are: 1) there is not yet adequate access to education at the State Junior High School level when it is compared to the number of graduates from State Elementary Schools; 2) from the nine zones in the zoning map of Cimahi, there were only 6 graduates from State Elementary Schools that can be accommodated in State Junior High Schools; and 3) there are still a large number of Elementary Schools graduates for the 2019/2020 school year who have not been accommodated in the zoned State Junior High Schools. Therefore, from the result of this study, it can be recommended that the increase in the number off class units is still needed, and the development of New School Units for State Junior High Schools which refers to laws and regulations, which to organize the zoning system in Cimahi in the form of Mayor Regulations.

A quasi experiment with interview was adopted to study the aptness of using 3D animations as an instructional method to introduce programming concepts to students at the Senior High School level. This research work was conducted with 100 students of Akroso Senior High School in the Birim central municipality of the eastern region of Ghana who were generally programming novice. Programming concepts considered included programming environments, loops, functions sequential and conditional execution of programs. A paired t-test carried out on the results of the performance test presents a p-value of 0.008 indicative of a numerically significant difference between the mean marks of participants during the experiments that used 3D animation method as against the experiments that used the text base method. Results from the interview showed that the instructional method used had impact on the performance of the learners. The use of 3D animation method presented programming concepts in a form that the learners can understand, motivates them to pursue programming related courses at a higher level and also impacts positively on their performance.

An initial survey showed that school students at the Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri (SMAN; State Senior High School) level in the Sidoarjo Regency of East Java Province, Indonesia, suffered low levels of student engagement (SE).  This research examined the impact of subjective well-being, peer support, and self-efficacy on the student engagement of the students in the Class 10 of four SMAN in the Sidoarjo Regency. 328 students were involved in this research, filling in a survey related to the four variables of the study.  The results of regression testing indicated that subjective well-being, peer support, and self-efficacy had significant influence on increases in student engagement (SE). The implication of this research was that the efforts by the school, parents, and other parties was related to attention being given, outside of improvement in the quality of the academic atmosphere. Psychological well-being, peer support, as well as increases in self-efficacy, may assist students to become actively involved in the learning process.

This paper will discuss the correlation between the SAT and the Math Inventory Test. Many school districts adopted the Math Inventory as a tool to measure student growth from grades kindergarten through high school. The Math Inventory is a computer-administered test that gives students math problems spanning from counting to high school level math. When completed, the students are given a quantile measure, much like a Lexile score for reading skill. The purpose of this study is to figure out if success on the Math Inventory is a good indicator for performing well on the SAT. For most high schools around the United States, objectives and lessons are aligned with those of the SAT. The goal of high school teachers is for students to excel on the SAT so that they can go to college, which means the tests used in middle school should be aligned with that goal. If the Math Inventory is not, then it might not be a very good use of school time and resources. Data was analyzed from the 2017-2018 school year from ten different high schools in an urban school district to determine the correlation between Math Inventory score, and the math score/sub scores of SAT/PSAT. The value of the Pearson’s correlation coefficient is used to suggest a fairly moderate positive relationship between these two variables.

Background/Context As opportunities for public and private single-sex education have expanded, the debate surrounding this issue has become more heated. Recent reviews of research on single-sex education have concluded that the evidence is mixed, due in large part to the difficulty of attributing differences between single-sex and coeducational students specifically to the single-sex nature of their experience, as opposed to other differences between single-sex and coeducational schools and their attendees. This study comes at a time of renewed national interest in the value and appropriateness of single-sex education, especially as changes to Title IX have expanded the opportunities to establish single-sex classes and activities, and contributes new data with a focus exclusively on the academic engagement of female students from single-sex and coeducational high schools. Purpose/Objective/Research Question/Focus of Study This study addresses whether levels of academic engagement differ between single-sex and coeducational settings. Research Design The study uses self-reported survey data and multilevel modeling to address secondary school-level effects in a national sample of women entering college. Findings/Results The analyses suggest that attendance at a single-sex high school remains a significant predictor of academic engagement even after controlling for the confounding role of student background characteristics, school-level features, and peer contexts within each school. Specifically, women attending all-girls high schools report higher levels of academic engagement across numerous fronts: studying individually or in groups, interacting with teachers, tutoring other students, and getting involved in student organizations. However, these results may also be attributed to other features that differentiate single-sex from coeducational schools, such as smaller enrollments and racial/ethnic diversity of the schools in this study. Conclusions/Recommendations Although the results of this study support the claims that all-female environments provide a unique opportunity for young women to thrive, these results should be interpreted with some caution. Because of the limitations of the study, it is difficult to make definitive inferences about the relationship between single-sex education and academic engagement, and we cannot assert with confidence that school gender alone is responsible for higher academic engagement. The study points the way for future research that further distinguishes the role of individual and school-level attributes and ideally examines this issue using longitudinal data. Finally, given the current expansion of single-sex education in the public schools, future research ought to employ these methodological advances in studies on single-sex public education and should consider the consequences of single-sex settings for both female and male students.

The higher education diversity programs that Texas enacted after Hopwood v. University of Texas banned affirmative action had unexpected positive consequences for the state’s high schools. The Texas top 10% law, the Longhorn Opportunity Scholarship and Century Scholarship programs, and the Towards Excellence, Access and Success Grant program each explicitly linked postsecondary opportunities to high school performance and clearly articulated that link to students across the state. As a result, these programs worked as K–16 school reforms, using college opportunities as incentives to improve educational outcomes at the high school level. Using panel data describing Texas high schools between 1993 and 2002, the author demonstrates that Texas’s post- Hopwood higher education policies redistributed college-related activity at public high schools and boosted high school students’ academic engagement.

AbstractThis research stems from a condition which was observed in Indonesian high school. In general  the schools do not implement the principles of multiple intelligences comprehensively. Conversely, it is still impressed that the  learning is still dominated by one intelligence based education,  that is IQ which is  cause and effect oriented eductional program. In line with that the learning is filled in the domain of cognition which is commonly oriented at the most basic level of mental development, in which the level of memorization activity is fulfilled the learning process. So that the complex intelligences of the learners’ do not develop optimally. This conditions produce that the  Indonesian educational products are not optimal. So to improve the quality of education, it is necessary to develop the implementation of learning system which based on the impact of the findings of neuroscience into education, including the development of multiple intelligences (multiple intelligences) in high school level. This research is a qualitative research seeing from philosophical approach and perspective. Along with that, the method used is descriptive, analysis and interpretive. Through philosophical approaches researcher tries to describe the essence of the eight intelligences and their applications in the learning process. With the method of description and interpretation, it is expected to be able to find an interpretation of the concept of multiple intelligences in accordance with socio-religious background of students’. Then by using the analysis method, the application of  these findings can be adjusted to the needs and potentials which is available at high school levelled education.
