Smart energy transition efforts at the municipal level are gaining importance and go far beyond implementing single projects. Decarbonising cities involves complex strategic planning and needs system level thinking and changes. This has been increasingly realised at the municipal level, but challenges remain regarding the tools, involvement of stakeholders and on the development of policies. The focus of the research is on the use of participatory foresight for fostering smart energy transition on a municipal level, the key benefits and success factors that participatory foresight brings, and the replicability of this approach. Within the novel Cities4ZERO framework, an overarching methodology for a smart urban decarbonisation transition, guiding cities through the process of developing the most appropriate strategies, plans, projects, as well as looking for the commitment of key local stakeholders for an effective transition–foresight framework, was developed and tested in five pilot cities. Foresight as applied within the Cities4ZERO framework creates a participatory process which brings stakeholders together to achieve unified scenarios, and a common vision for future urban decarbonisation strategies. The methodology is replicable and increases the quality of strategic energy planning by fostering long-term system thinking.

There are three strategic levels for successful energy planning in cities: 1) Integration strategy for integrating energy planning into urban planning institutions; 2) Practice strategy for developing suitable energy planning practices in urban planning institutions, and 3) Vision strategy for the creation and integration of energy visions and scenarios required for long-term decarbonisation. The vision strategy is critical but not well researched and is the focus of this article. Using Strategic Energy Planning (SEP) as an analytical framework, the vision strategy of eight forerunner European cities are analysed. Some critical elements of SEP include the use of long-term targets, holistic energy system thinking, and retention of scenarios. The results indicate that the level of understanding and practice of the vision strategy is still deficient in the cities. Cities often use the practice of urban planning, which does not fit very well with energy planning, particularly with the vision strategy. The energy planning in the cities mostly focuses on shorter-term goals and actions, and they often abandon energy scenarios once extracted. However, through trial and error, some cities are finding ways forward. The article concludes with several recommendations, particularly that cities need to see scenarios as retainable long-term servants providing information desired by the planner, rather than serving as a guide to the planner.

The success factors of organizations are developing continuously and every few year’s new success factors are added to the complex demanding and ever-changing competitive environment in which organizations operate. There is no doubt that the primary focus of an organization should be to achieve higher satisfaction of its customers by implementing rigorous processes to continuously improve its products and services quality - but in the current competitive environment this is not enough to achieve sustained success and all interested parties needs and expectations have to be met. Organizations have to implement an effective and efficient management system that is led by top management and is focused on the organization ability to meet the needs and expectations of its customers and other relevant interested parties, over the long term as the way to achieve sustained success of the organization. Doing so organizations are moving from product quality which is the scope of ISO 9001 to quality of an organization which is the scope of the new ISO 9004 which has reached these days the level of draft of international standard (DIS) and is planned to be published in 2018 and will provide a guidance to organizations on how to achieve sustained success.

Aim: A study on effectiveness and success factors of educational inhaler technique intervention in asthma and COPD. Objectives: To identify the percentage of common errors done by people who use inhalers. To identify the risk factors associated with asthma and COPD. Method: Data was collected from the subject’s face to face interview in a community setup and the lung capacities were measured using spirometer and peak flow meter; the values were noted and the subjects were asked to demonstrate their inhaler technique using placebo inhalers; numbers of correct and incorrect steps were noted. After a period of one month; the subjects were taken to follow up and measured the lung capacities and checked the inhaler steps; number of correct and incorrect steps were noted. Results: A total of 572 samples were collected and 500 were followed up, in which 300 had Asthma and 200 had COPD. Out of which 189 were female and 311 were male. Low education level was the single most important factor leading to incorrect technique. Formal training resulted in a statistically significant increase in the percentage of correct techniques for all the devices. For pMDI (54.01% vs. 91.03%, *p=0.005 before & after training respectively). For pMDI+Spacer (52.75% vs. 94.85%, *p=0.007 before & after training respectively). For Accuhaler (54.07% vs. 91.27%, *p=0.017 before & after training respectively). For Rotahaler (63.94 vs. 98.64%. *p=0.029 before & after training respectively). For Nebuliser (56.97% vs. 91.88%, *p=0.001 before & after training respectively. Conclusion: Proper education to patients on correct usage may not only improve control of the symptoms of the disease but might also allow dose reduction in long term. The number of subjects doing correct steps gradually increased after the pharmacist led intervention. Thus, proper counselling for the inhaler use in patients must be encouraged as it is directly linked to the quality of life of patient. Keywords: Asthma and COPD control inhaler devices, inhaler technique, pharmacist intervention, inhaler education.

Abstract Background The current epidemiological transition creates news issues to address (NCD as oncology, cardiovascular, diabetes, road accidents...) and causes an important increase of skills transfer needs in resource-poor/intermediate countries. Hospital cooperation is an efficient way to help the partner country/city adapt and increase their quality of care. Objectives The aims were multiple: set up transfer skills programs, but also understand both obstacles and success factors of such projects over the long term. AP-HP’s (Greater Paris University Hospitals) Department of International Relations, has developed 3 year-long projects (financed in majority by public funders) which link one or more hospitals of our group to a southern hospital, on a precise topic. Our multidisciplinary teams then support the local professionals either by training them or assessing their current situation and proposing an action plan. Results Over those last 4 years, we built more than 50 cooperations, most of them being successful and still active today. 20 of our hospitals have been involved in at least one project. In 2018, we were working with more than 30 different countries. We noticed a growing interest both from our teams and new partners, over the years. In 2018, around 150 healthcare professionals from AP-HP took part in at least one mission abroad and more than 3 000 foreign professionals have been trained in various ways (from conferences to technical surgical skill transfer), including about 50 trained on site in Paris. These trainings are intended not only to physicians but also for midwives, nurses and managers. Conclusions Those projects have a good efficiency in a short term. Therefore, the risk of unsustainability is quite important. For the programs to be effective in the long run, there needs to be a collective involvement both from institutions and healthcare teams in the project on both sides. Key messages European hospitals should develop a strong international cooperation policy. AP-HP intends to intensify its work, being an efficient way of contributing to reach both SDG 3 and 9.

Some authors have suggested that the emergence of the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, and the subsequent pandemic has meant that the constructs of pathological anxiety and depression are meaningless owing to widespread anxiety and depressive symptoms. This paper examines what is required to make a diagnosis of a depressive or anxiety disorder and how this may differ from fleeting symptomatology in response to specific situations or stimuli. All people experience the emotions of both anxiety and depression, but far fewer have a persistent anxiety or depressive syndrome which interferes with their quality of life and functioning. The pandemic and its issues are then discussed, and existing studies examining the reactions of people living through the pandemic are presented. Finally, the paper examines possible ways to cope at times of increased stress and how we can try to protect ourselves from long-term mental health sequelae of chronic stress.

This paper focuses on developing a proposal to eliminate weaknesses in medium-sized farm and thus improving its market position. To determine the position of company’s products due to the competition, a BCG Matrix (Boston Consulting Group Matrix) was used. Financial Ratio Analysis was used to identify company’s financial situation. With the help of the situational analysis of the company’s internal environment, success factors, strengths and weaknesses were defined. Further the proposals were designed to remove the selected weaknesses. In the farm was identified the following strengths: quality of managers, long-term and stable customer-supplier relationships, selling commodities at optimum moisture content and purity, the use of subsidies and high milk yield cows. A weakness was mainly breeding pigs, missing website, company profitability and obsolete buildings. Amongst others was suggested to create website for the farm.

One of the key challenges of developing countries is to tackle the mitigation of the impacts of rapid and uncontrolled urbanization. Assessing this phenomenon is crucial to lessen the consequences for the environment and society. ‘Literature has been concentrated in planning strategies for the cities’ adaptation and engagements to the principles of green development ensuring a long-term quality of life for their citizens. Hereby, smart technologies and applications consist of two of the most encouraging concepts for solutions for achieving the 2030 and 2050 horizon targets towards clean energy transition and carbon neutrality. In academia, scholars have already raised the importance of ‘smartness’ to define the adaptative patterns for the global pressures of climate change and uncontrolled urban growth. The mitigation of these phenomena is crucial to ensure the cities’ future and lessen their impacts. This study seeks a strategic and smart-driven vision to leverage smartness on the phenomenon of rapid urbanization that occurred in the case of Beijing, China. Defining and evaluating the environmental impacts in line with the RIAM approach as one of its main targets. Future works can be focused on addressing solutions in similar cases in further developing countries to not only overcome environmental, but also economic, social, and digital complications.

The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has emerged at the end of 2019 and caused a global pandemic. The disease predominantly affects the respiratory system; however, there is evidence that it is a multisystem disease that also impacts the cardiovascular system. Although the long-term consequences of COVID-19 are not well-known, evidence from similar diseases alerts for the possibility of long-term impaired physical function and reduced quality of life, especially in those requiring critical care. Therefore, rehabilitation strategies are needed to improve outcomes in COVID-19 survivors. Among the possible strategies, resistance training (RT) might be particularly interesting, since it has been shown to increase functional capacity both in acute and chronic respiratory conditions and in cardiac patients. The present article aims to propose evidence-based and practical suggestions for RT prescription for people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 with a special focus on immune, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems. Based on the current literature, we present RT as a possible safe and feasible activity that can be time-efficient and easy to be implemented in different settings.

The article tells about the use of a combined contraceptive preparation containing the novel progestogen - dienogest - in conservative antirecurrent treatment of endometriosis. According to current concepts, endometriosis is a chronical dishormonal, immunodependent, multifactorial, genetically determined disease which manifests itself in the growth and presence of endometrioid heterotopias in the uterus. While accurate diagnosis and ablation of heterotopias require surgery, for subsequent treatment, doctor's toolkit offers a multitude of medicines the effects of which are on the whole described by the following: fight against manifestations of endometriosis, inhibition of the progression of the process, reduction of the disease recurrence, and improving the quality of life of patients. Pharmacotherapy of endometriosis should be effective and safe. Dienogest demonstrated properties comparable to those of gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists, especially for early clinical manifestations of endometriosis. The combined contraceptive containing ethinylestradiol and dienogest is best suited for long-term (several months) treatment of endometriosis under a cyclic or continuous regimen.

The holistic modelling approach required for the long-term integrated urban energy planning is becoming a big challenge since the complexity of cities, as well as their commitments are increasing rapidly. Many municipalities require technical support during the definition of the direction of their long-term energy transition plans. Innovative modelling approaches and the ex-ante impact assessment are necessary steps of the process since the direction adopted by the city will have many long-lasting implications not only in the energy and climate dimensions but also in their social and economic development. This paper presents the overall methodological and modelling approach and the initial results of the developed Advanced Integrated Urban Planning process that has been validated by its application in the cities of Helsinki, Hamburg and Nantes.
