Economic analysis allows for determining the required daily output under certain natural and mining conditions based on the costs of the production process in a particular mine infrastructure. Therefore, there is a need to determine the potential daily output of a longwall using the technical equipment at the disposal of the mine. In the case of mines, when exploiting a few longwalls simultaneously in the conditions of bumping hazards, it is indispensable to ensure safety. Due to a necessity of keeping a safe distance among the longwall fronts, when planning their exploitation, developing a prediction of the longwalls in advance during the planning period is needed. To predict the daily production from a longwall and daily advance of the longwall in the analyzed period, it is necessary to know the current operating time of machines and the capacity of the shearer under given conditions. The current working time of machines results from the available time and the degree of its utilization, which is determined by the sum of unplanned breaks in the production process. The shearer productivity is determined by its haulage speed. Both factors mentioned above are random. Hence, a calculation module has been developed, whose task is to estimate the distribution parameters of these indicators based on empirical data. The algorithm for estimating the parameters of one of the distributions: normal, steady or gamma and its special case of the exponential distribution and Poisson for the obtained input empirical data, constituting a sample from the population, is proposed. The input data are a sequence of numbers obtained from the measurement of the current operating time of machines. These data can be obtained from the longwall shearer memory card, on which its operating parameters are recorded in each longwall. On this basis, it is possible to generate random values of both parameters for individual days of operation. The possibility of determining the haulage speed, based on the longwall shearer’s characteristics obtained from the computer simulation of the mining process, is also discussed. The simulation of the mining process is carried out using the GeneSiSv.3.1 software, developed for designing a picks layout on the drum. The characteristics of the shearer production potential also take into account the capacity of loading the cutting drum. It results from the presented characteristics that, when mining coal with a compressive strength of 27 MPa, the haulage speed is limited by the loading capacity of the cutting drum and, with greater cuttability, by the power of the electric motor driving the drum. The paper presents algorithms describing the procedure of generating random values necessary for determining the longwall production potential and the daily advance during the assumed period. The subject matter presented in the paper is part of a bigger project which concerns planning of a mine operation and developing a few longwalls in the conditions of bumping hazards.

Although military doctrine assumes that thorough mission preparation is a prerequisite for mission success, empirical data are lacking. The present study investigated the relationship between mission preparation and mission performance during combat mission training of 11 MC-130P (Combat Shadow) aircrews from USAF Special Operations Forces squadrons. Two observers independently rated crew coordination processes and mission performance based on extensive observations taken both during a planning period and while the crews executed a simulated mission. Statistically, a reliable, strong relationship between preparation and performance was noted, with correlations ranging from .60 to .78. Exceptional preparation behaviors include utilizing personnel effectively, establishing a firm timeline, aggressively questioning a plan's assumptions, and testing a plan's logic against possible contingencies. The paper concludes with a discussion of the characteristics of effective mission preparation and implications of the research for combat mission training.

Today, in Serbia there are several sites with installed combined heat and power facilities. The most of these plants, for various reasons, do not produce electricity. One such plant is "Energetika" (Kragujevac, Serbia), which is primarily a district heating company. Steam generator in the plant has been installed in the 1970's and has worked in one short period of time. Installed steam turbines are 8 MW and 20 MW rated power. ?Energetika? in accordance with the general trend of increasing energy efficiency of production process initiated revitalization of the plant. This revitalization started with a study which approach and the results are briefly given in the paper. All results show that retrofit of facility should be acceptable for the management. Developed scenarios indicate that in the case of the limited resources optimal retrofit should start with smaller turbine (8 MW rated power) then after providing the funds should continue with the retrofit of 20 MW turbine.

The intensive introduction of modern high-tech tools into the production process of organizations of various types creates the need for high-class en-gineering personnel on the labor market. A trained engineering specialist is one of the important com-ponents of the economic stability of the enterprise, since the smoothness of the technical process and the prevention of risk situations associated with errors in the operation of technical equipment de-pends on him. The relevance of interest in engineer-ing professions and analysis of the features of relia-bility of engineering activities is due to the large social demand for the study of the psychological aspects of the labor of specialists-engineers, as well as the low development of this problem. The results of the performed theoretical analysis provide a basis for clarifying the conceptual apparatus of the pro-cess of studying the reliability of professional activi-ty in general, as well as for developing a new ap-proach to the analysis of the reliability of modern labor of an engineer.

The aim of this paper was comparative assessment of production potential, organization of production, economic efficiency and investment abilities of two group of farms from the same communities that collected data for Polish Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) in the years 2004-2013. The first group was farms that participated in the measure Afforestation of agricultural land under RDP 2004-2006 (beneficiary farms), while the second group was remaining farms that didn’t participate in this measure in the analyzed period. It was found that beneficiary farms in comparison to remaining farms characterized smaller utilized agricultural area (UAA) lower share of rented area and higher share of own UAA with the worst quality of soil. Moreover they had worse technical equipment of labour and lower family farm income. However, beneficiary farms like remaining farms had positive rate of reproduction fixed assets but their scale of investment was lower.

Delivery performance is essential for a manufacturer to meet customer requirement. The only manufacturer with fast, accurate and on time delivery could survive in global competition as a sports shoe manufacturer with the labor-intensive production process, PT. XYZ faced a problem with massive work in process inventory that impacted low delivery performance. This research aims to support the shoe manufacturer company to reduce work in process inventory by applying Kanban System. The manufacturer company can decrease work in process in the production line and cut the lead time of production. Kanban System can be utilized from receiving material process, production process, until the packaging process. By implementing a kanban system correctly and consistently, the company can control material supply, production material usage, and customer order delivery inaccurate process. With controlled those items, the company could monitor and manage material and process from beginning to end of the process, even to monitor distribution to a customer. The result of analysis proves that by applying kanban system can achieve the specified daily production target without work in process inventory.

Reliability is the probability that a product, system, or service will perform its intended function adequately for a specified period, or will operate in a defined environment without failure. In this research, the reliability of Berber cement mill studied. The data collected from the information section of Berber cement factory related to the milling section. It includes the daily production reports, the breakdown and the operating time. The operating time between two failures (TTF) was calculated from the daily report of the mill and then a match was made for the data with the probability distributions to find out what is the probability distribution corresponding to the distribution of these data. The best distribution is the Weibull distribution. the Minitab software was applied and then the distribution parameters for the data (measurement parameters c and the shape parameter d) were obtained and then the reliability of each part of the mill were calculated for each hour and the reliability of the system was calculated as a whole. The study found that the reliability of the system is 75% at the first hour of operation. It decreased during continuous operation to 58% due to the poor reliability of the heating system, which has a reliability of 72% and the reliability of the conveying and feeding belts of the clinker, which have a reliability of 75%.

Productivity in the production process is very influential and become a benchmark for success in every industry. Healthy productivity can increase customer satisfaction because the waiting time for production is not too long from the expected target. The need for improvement in the system is one way to increase production at PT ABC. From the observations results showed the activity percentage of production administration operator were very high. It was at 98.727%. Production per day was less than the company target, the expected target was 40 batches per day, but in fact, it only produced 35 batches average per day. There were three proposed scenarios to fix the performance at Production Unit PT ABC. The Third Scenario was the choice that had highest result for daily production, while Scenario Second was the choice with the highest results if using weekly and annual running times references.
