The danwei is a distinctive spatial unit in China, as a legacy of the Maoist era. In a danwei, state-owned enterprises supplied a full set of facilities, such that people’s daily activities did not often extend beyond their danweis. However, with the rapid alteration of civic social space in Chinese cities, many employees are no longer tied to a particular danwei. Traditional Chinese danweis have suddenly been faced with a shortage of car-parking space. In the context of the municipal call for danweis to “dismantle the walls and open up for traffic microcirculation”, this study aims to propose a practical approach that analyzes the parking status in a typical danwei. Based on both the parking data collected via a self-designed smartphone application and the survey data collected via questionnaires, the approach analyzes the parking situation in terms of four aspects, including hot parking zones, dynamic parking demand, vehicle parking behaviors, and perceptions of the parking situation. We conducted the experiment on the Information Department Campus of Wuhan University, which is a typical Chinese danwei with complicated surroundings. The results indicate non-negligible issues in the current parking situation, such as vulnerabilities in parking resource management, and a contradiction between supply and demand. Based on the results, we recommend possible strategies to alleviate the tense parking situation and we are confident of the feasibility of opening danwei roads first instead of opening parking facilities, as a response to “open up” the danweis. This study may serve as a representative example of how danweis should analyze their current parking situation and how to respond to the municipality’s suggestions: using modern technology to conduct data collection, perform in-depth and detailed analysis, and synthesize explicit localized policy.

Parking lot parking problem is becoming more and more prominent. In order to improve the Yan Tai train station peak parking discontent, serious parking idle resources, and heavy traffic caused by road parking, the Yan Tai train station parking lot parking data was collected through survey, to discuss the parking demand characteristics and parking facilities supply and demand and so on. Combined with factors of parking problems, carries on the reasonable forecast of parking demand, and then gives the solutions. Keywords: the railway station parking lot; parking lot planning; parking characteristics; parking supply and demand analysis; improvement and design

Although the position of the party on the ground has been weakened by cartelization, grassroots activists remain an important recruitment pool for political professionals. Based on unique survey data collected among the staff of 14 Belgian and Dutch parties (N = 1009), this article offers an in-depth analysis of party activism among this under-researched population. Introducing a new supply and demand framework, I argue that staff recruitment is shaped by candidate preferences (supply) and party preferences (demand). The findings demonstrate that most political staffers are high-intensity activists with a strong commitment to their party. Moreover, the theoretical model accurately predicts that non-activists are more common among policy and communication experts, ministerial staff, and those working for ideologically moderate parties. These findings show that paid staffers do not necessarily widen the gap between parties and activists. They also raise normative questions about internal congruence within parties in coalition governments.

With progress of modern technology, manually-propelled wheelchairs are still of importance for individuals with mobility impairments. The repeated wheelchair propulsion and strenuous daily activities cause high loads and thus injuries on the upper extremity joints. Over the past few years, a considerable number of studies have been made on biomechanical analysis of wheelchair propulsion and wheelchair-related activities. Thorough investigation of biomechanics during wheelchair propulsion enhances comprehension of mechanism of injuries and provides information to improve wheelchair design and fitting. Numerous investigations have been made to demonstrate factors which cause low effectiveness of force application and inefficiency of movements. Emphasis was also placed on developing analytical models to simulate wheelchair propulsion.

BACKGROUND Telemedicine solutions, especially in the face of a pandemic, have intensified their role in the patient-cardiologist contact. Entirely recognition of modern technology must be based on the patient's acceptance to be able to improve effective cooperation with the physician. However, the successful application of patient-centric telehealth services requires an in-depth analysis of users’ expectations. OBJECTIVE To evaluate factors determining readiness for telecommunications solutions in patients with cardiovascular diseases (CVD). METHODS A cross-sectional study based on an investigator-designed validated questionnaire including 19 items (demographics, health status, medical history, previous healthcare experience, expected telehealth functionalities and preferred remote communication methods) was used. Multivariate logistic regression was applied to assess the relationship between readiness and their determinants. RESULTS Nearly 84% of respondents consent to the use of telemedicine solutions in the cardiologist-patient contact. Disacceptance to using telemedicine was two times frequent for rural dwellers, OR=2.411 (95%CI:1.003-5.796) and for patients without access to the Internet, OR=2.432 (95%CI:1.022-5.786). In comparison to studying participants living in rural areas, city dwellers demonstrated a higher willingness to use telemedicine solutions in particular function such as : issuing prescription (61,2%/83,2%), alarm at the deterioration of health (79,95%/61,5 %), arranging or cancelling a medical visit (53,8 %/75.5%). Contact by mobile phone was preferred by younger patients OR=2.256 (95%CI:1.058-4.814). Older people and patients who had no previous difficulties in contact with physicians prefer contact by line phone. CONCLUSIONS Patients with CVD are ready to accept the virtual solutions to contact a cardiologist. However, patients' expectations for telehealth services are associated with socio-demographical factors. Identifying needs in a group of patients with CVD may help to adjust telecommunication technologies for specific groups of patients

Introduction: Symptom and Quality of Life (QOL) data are important patient reported outcomes. Early identification of these is critical for appropriate interventions. Data collection may be helped by modern information technology. Aim: This study examined symptoms and QOL in people with solid tumors at their first visit to a medical oncologist. We also evaluated the clinical utility of tablet computers (TC) to collect this data. Methods: This was a prospective study of 105 consecutive patients in the cancer outpatient clinic of a tertiary level academic medical center. Symptom and QOL data was collected by TC with wireless database upload. Results: One-third participants had moderate to severe pain; almost half clinically significant pain that interfered with daily activities. Tiredness, anxiety, and drowsiness were common (prevalence - 79%, 63% and 50% respectively). One-third of those who had items identified from the Edmonton System Assessment System also volunteered other symptoms, mostly gastrointestinal problems. Many of those affected also reported impaired Global Wellbeing and low Overall QOL. There was a 98% completion rate, which took on average ten minutes. Direct observation and informal feedback from patients and physicians regarding the acceptability of TC in this setting was uniformly positive. Conclusions: Amongst people with newly diagnosed solid tumors clinically important psychological and physical symptoms, QOL problems and difficulties with daily activities were commonly present in the 24-hour period and in the week before a first Medical Oncology visit. Symptom and QOL data collection by TC in busy outpatient clinics showed good clinical utility.
