The article presents the results of experimental studies of multilayer nanostructures of magnetic straintronics formed by magnetron sputtering on a 100 mm silicon wafer. The object of the study is two types of nanostructures: Ta/FeNiCo/CoFe/Ta and Ta/FeNi/CoFe/Ta, differing in the ratio of magnetic layers. The magnetic and magnetoresistive characteristics of multilayer nanostructures under varying mechanical loads are studied both on a 100 mm wafer and in the form of 4 × 20 mm2 samples of two types. The first, where the axis of easy magnetization is directed along the long side of the sample, and the second, where the axis of easy magnetization is a tilt at 45°. Based on the obtained data, the conclusions about the practical application of these nanostructures in magnetic straintronics elements are drawn.

The magnetoresistive transducers of magnetic field have been claimed both for direct and indirect applications in various areas of industry, transport and special equipment. In the paper the special features of used terminology and dimensions in the main parameters of magnetic field magnetoresistive transformers have been revealed. The main results of experimental studies on the developed thin-film magnetoresistive nanostructures (TMN) with even and odd transfer characteristics have been presented. The TMN design on an anisotropic magnetoresistive effect has an odd transfer characteristic and conversion coefficient at the level of 8 mV/V/E. The TMN design based on a giant magnetoresistive effect has an even transfer characteristic and a conversion coefficient at the level of 27 mV/V/E. The results of promising design and technological solutions allowing reaching the values of conversion coefficient of TMN at the level exceeding 100 mV/V/E have been shown. The results of the study of the test spin-tunnel magnetoresistive nanostructure (spin-tunnel TMN) with giant magnetoresistive effect, exceeding 100% have been presented. The novelty of the obtained results has been reflected and the perspective of using highly sensitive TMN and creating the non-volatile MRAM on the basis of thin-film magnetoresistive structure with the spin-tunnel magnetoresistive effect have been determined.

Titanium oxide is widely applied as a photocatalyst. However, its low efficiency and narrow light absorption range are two main disadvantages that severely impede its practical application. In this work, black TiOx films with different chemical compositions were fabricated by tuning target voltage and controlling O2 flow during reactive DC magnetron sputtering. The optimized TiOx films with mixed phases (TiO, Ti2O3, Ti3O5, and TiO2) exhibited fantastic photothermal and photocatalytic activity by combining high light-absorptive Ti2O3 and Ti3O5 phases with the photocatalytic TiO2 phase. The sample prepared with oxygen flow at 5.6 ± 0.2 sccm and target voltage near 400 V exhibited excellent optical absorbance of 89.29% under visible light, which could improve surface temperature to 114 °C under sunlight. This film could degrade Rhodamine-B up to 74% after 150 min of UV irradiation. In a word, this work provides a guideline for fabricating black TiOx films with photothermal-assisted photocatalytic activity by reactive DC magnetron sputtering, which could avoid the usage of hydrogen and is convenient for quantity preparation.

Thin Co films were fabricated by DC magnetron sputtering. The effect of argon pressure on the microstructure, surface morphology and magnetic properties of the samples was systematically studied. It was found that with the increase of argon pressure, the sharpness of the crystalline texture of the samples declines, the roughness of film surfaces and the coercivity of the films increase. Based on these results, a Co/Cu/Co pseudo spin-valve system was designed and the corresponding structures were fabricated. The difference in coercivity of magnetic layers was obtained by deposition of the Co layers at different Ar pressures. Change of the resistance of this trilayer is induced at a moderate field by the spin rotation in the soft layer with lower coercivity.

The task of assessing the quality of aerial imagery, obtained for mapping, in terms of vision properties, is very ambiguous due to the lack of objective criteria and evaluation methods. A system of indicators for aerial images quality and methods of their numerical assessment is presented. The fine aerial image’s quality is characterized by a set of its structural and gradation properties. The structural properties of the image are determined by the actual spatial resolution and photographic sharpness. Gradation properties of an image are characterized by the correct color rendering, the level of random noise and information completeness indicators – haze, radiometric resolution and the percentage of information loss in illumination and shadows. Methods of evaluating these indicators are formulated, and their recommended and acceptable numerical values are determined analytically. To clarify and correct the obtained analytical recommended and acceptable numerical values of the image quality indicators of their practical application possibility and further experimental studies are necessary with materials, obtained through various airborne imaging sensors for mapping.

The authors of the article have developed the computer application allows to determine the value of the friction coefficient λ and anti-turbulent additives efficiency with a high degree of accuracy. The program can be used in the calculations and design of oil pipelines. The paper presents experimental studies of the effect anti-turbulent additives on the magnitude of pressure losses during fluid movement through pipes. The data gained by the developed computer program has been proved by the data of practical application of additives in the real oil pipeline transportation system called Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean oil pipeline.

The magnetic and magneto-optical properties of the Co/Si/Co thin-film samples obtained by magnetron sputtering were investigated employing magnetooptical techniques. The thickness of the Co layers was equal to 5 nm, and Si layer thickness varied in the interval of 0.2 to 3.2 nm. The magnetic saturation field of the samples under study was found to oscillate in the magnitude with the change of the Si layer thickness. This result was explained by structural features of the Co/Si/Co multilayers and the presence of the antiferromagnetic exchange coupling between magnetic layers via the silicon interlayer. The peculiarities of the magneto-optical spectra of the Co/Si/Co samples were measured and discussed.
