Sustainable socio-economic development can be looked upon from multiple perspectives, but no longer without considering the roles of urban planning, smart cities and eco-innovative entrepreneurial initiatives. In the context of the COVID-19 crisis, ensuring sustainable socio-economic development is definitely challenging, but not impossible if adopting appropriate measures. This research aimed at analyzing the multidimensional facets of entrepreneurial resilience during times of crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in Romania, while focusing on the effects experienced in the wealthiest areas, specific to urban agglomerations. The research method consisted of constructing a composite indicator comprising appropriate components for assessing the level of wealth and “happiness” of all the Romanian counties. Through the lens of this composite indicator, entrepreneurial resilience was approached in multiple manners according to its diverse forms. Research findings highlight that entrepreneurial resilience tends to be stronger qualitatively and quantitatively in less developed areas than in those that are well developed, mainly due to the lack of entrepreneurial initiatives. Despite being less entrepreneurially resilient, qualitatively, the wealthiest Romanian counties can economically reinvent themselves quicker.

In modern conditions, close attention is paid to the study of various theoretical and practical aspects of managing the development of domestic agglomerations. The importance of research in this area is determined by the increasing role of agglomerations as the most effective form of territorial organization in many countries of the world. Currently, urban agglomerations are accepted as configurations of the distribution of production capacities, as well as the dispersion of the population without reference to administrative-territorial units. Agglomerations serve as activators of growth points, act as an economic link of territories, ensure the systematic development of the socio-industrial base and serve to the implementation of the main task of creating effective conditions for the development of the state. Today, there is an acute problem of the lack of unified methodological and managerial approaches in the formation and development of agglomeration, which, of course, makes the research topic relevant. The purpose of the study is to consider agglomerations in the context of sustainable socio-economic development of territories, as well as to develop proposals for improving the management process during their formation. The methods of system, economicstatistical, abstract-logical, comparative analysis, graphical and tabular analysis were used in the work. The results of the study are aimed at improving the management of agglomerations in the process of their formation and socio-economic development of territories.

The evolution of poverty has been an emerging economic and social phenomenon which poses the attention of national and international government and developmental organizations in Muslim and non-Muslim countries to initiate various strategies and programs for the poverty alleviation. In Islam, it is crucially important to cater for the wellbeing of the people in a society so that it would positively constitute socio-economic development, political stability and religion propagation. This study aims to explore the poverty alleviation measures prescribed in Islam as a collective solution to several calamities. For this purpose, deductive research method is adopted to articulate the major maqassid of Quran and Sunnah in eradicating poverty as the two primary sources of Shariah explicitly and implicitly encompass all the aspects of life most especially the livelihood wellbeing in accordance with Shariah objective of wealth protection. The study is significant as it will revive Muslims’ intuition to refer back to the teachings from the divine sources to ensure socio-economic development and sustainability.

The article discusses the issue of transport availability, taking into account road and rail infrastructure, as compared with socio-economic development in specific regions of Poland. The issue is studied from the theoretical and empirical point of view. The nature of the of the research is to use of existing methods for new dataset, namely the transport development level is estimated based on a composite indicator of development and degree of convergence among regions is estimated using classical regional convergence tests. The main goal of the study is to assess the degree of transport availability diversification among regions (voivodships) of Poland in comparison with their socio-economic development. The hypothesis assumes that there is strong correlation between transport availability and development of the regions and therefore similarity in the convergence inference.

The relevance of the research is due to the fact that priority socio-economic development areas (PSEDA) can be viewed as «growth points» for regional economies and are positioned as areas enjoying preferential taxation treatment. In this regard, it is extremely important to assess the optimality of the current tax burden level in a PSEDA with respect to resident enterprises. The purpose of research was a comprehensive study of a PSEDA located in the Amur Region by evaluating the effectiveness of the PSEDA operation; construction of an econometric model for assessing the impact of the tax burden on GRP growth due to the PSEDA establishment; comparison of the optimal and actual tax burden levels in the PSEDA. Based on the research findings, it has been concluded that by establishing an optimal tax burden in a PSEDA through granting special personal income tax benefits, it is possible to create a favorable tax climate in the entire region containing priority development areas. This will contribute to the accelerated economic development of a Russian region and fast relaxation of budget revenues lost in connection with granted incentives.

In the past few years, several research projects focused on the barriers of inter-municipal cooperation were carried out in the Czech Republic and abroad. As the research results reflect the respective local and regional specifics, the results and conclusions are diametrically different, depending on particular conditions in the respective country. The main objective of the paper is to analyse the uneven socio-economic development of the municipalities in the South Bohemian Region, as an example of the development of cooperation between the municipalities of the South Bohemian Region in relation to the economic background of municipalities. The hypothesis is that the economically stronger municipalities have better conditions for establishment and development of cooperation of municipalities. The theoretical part consists of research findings related to the problems of regional development and cooperation of municipalities. Furthermore, various methods are introduced, which are applied in the context of municipal analysis. The research of municipality cooperation was carried out by the author in 2007-2018. The results of the research confirmed the assumption of uneven development of the territory because economically weaker municipalities have really worse conditions for the establishment and development of cooperation between municipalities.
