Given the current socio-economic context in which the labor market is set in, if we were to consider both employment opportunities in specific economic periods and the individual expectations workers have regarding one’s working conditions, it should be a matter of one’s individual right of choice to decide whether or not to stay or leave and change companies. The paper we present before you took into account the phenomenon of churning as a cyclical process. Our main goal was to understand the main causes leading to it in the context of human resources and, ultimately, what were the consequences emerging from it. In order to carry out this analysis, we put forward a conceptual-theoretical model of the phenomenon of churning, made possible through the analysis of both the currently available literature and the empirical studies and conclusions stemming from the latter. The aforementioned analysis allowed us to trace all main causes responsible for the origin of churning and also, to understand how it could be implemented further on, in order to minimize the costs associated with hiring new personnel and retaining qualified employees by resorting beforehand to the implementation of strategic measures of human resources retention. By applying the methodology based on grounded theory, this study allowed us to further contribute to the already available, yet limited, literature and definition of this multifaceted and greatly complex subject that is the phenomenon of churning.

Abstract The maintenance and/or achievement of security is of paramount importance within settings recovering from armed conflict; however existing studies in the field of peacebuilding do not sufficiently explore how various processes undertaken within peacebuilding programming result in different types of security outcomes at the individual and community level. In this article, I develop a novel conceptual framework for analyzing “microlevel” security risks and benefits of peacebuilding processes, through an adapted version of Johan Galtung's work on direct and structural violence. For the purposes of this article, the framework is applied in the context of “local” transitional justice (TJ) processes used in the aftermath of armed conflict, for which advocacy and implementation has increased in the recent past. Relying on a social psychological definition of security, I disaggregate components of direct and structural violence and use illustrative examples from existing empirical studies about the effects of local TJ processes in various settings to demonstrate ways in which these types of violence may be perpetuated, or initiated in new forms through these processes, thus posing security risks. The framework is further developed through the elucidation of factors that may help to repair the consequences of direct and structural violence and/or hinder the likelihood of their repetition, thematically conceptualized as physical and psychological welfare and social justice (respective to direct and structural violence) that I suggest link to security benefits. The framework is intended to provide new perspectives on understanding how peacebuilding processes may both promote and prevent security from being realized at the local level following armed conflict.

In today’s organizations, Human Resources is one of the important driving factor. By creating a humanistic work environment, employees are more creative and have a passion to do the job. In order to improve the quality and quantity of human resources needs to the strategy of the organization. One of the strategies that can be undertaken by the organization is the psychic and spiritual fulfillment of employees in order to create a work environment that is humane. Spirituality is not about the workplace as religious practices are organized and not on God or theology. In this study proposes a theory Spirituality workplace, through a review of the literature and empirical study shows the definition of spirituality, the effects on work attitudes, as well as clarify the link spirituality and culture of the organization. This research is done through empirical studies related link workplace spirituality and organizational culture on college lecturer in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT)-Indonesia. Data were collected through a survey with simple random sampling proportional and involve ± 320 Lecturer Private college as respondents. Data analysis techniques with linear regression method using SPSS 23 determines the relationship between Organizational Culture and Spirituality workplace.

A popular point in the last 20 years in academic and business settings is well-being at work that is in line with positive psychology, through which one can understand how to make working conditions enjoyable. Alternatively, teaching has been recognized as the most stressful career. Although, not many studies in the form of review have been carried out to focus on the notion of the well-being of teachers in English as a second language (ESL) or English as a foreign language (EFL). According to the literature review, the definition of this construct, the factors related to it, and the empirical studies in this domain are presented. In conclusion, the implications of well-being for teachers, school principals, teacher-trainers, and future researchers are provided, and new directions for future research are delineated.

Recent empirical studies have shown that investors are far more likely to be loss averse during bull markets than during bear ones. The aim of this short note is to give solid foundations to this empirical evidence. Using the benchmark-based preference method we establish a direct connection between the individual perception of the market trend and the individual risk preferences. Then we develop a novel definition of loss aversion and gain seeking which intuitively captures the human attitudes described by the quotes “losses loom larger than gains” and “gains loom larger than losses”, respectively. Our findings have also practical applications.  In fact they may offer a solid explanation to the disposition effect. According to this cognitive bias in bull markets investors are driven by loss aversion and tend to sell winners too early; whereas in bear markets investors are driven by gain seeking and tend to hold losers too long.

In this chapter, the author contributes to the definition of somatic pedagogy as a means to encourage self-learning in students in different learning environments, from somatic movement lessons to dance technique and online dance appreciation, by drawing on the pedagogical philosophies of Howard Gardner and Paulo Freire. Her discussion includes approaches to facilitate self-learning through various somatic experiences and classrooms, including online learning. She emphasizes that the focus of somatics is always on the individual having the experience leading to the discovery (or rediscovery) of the wisdom of the self. Also certified in Bill Evans Method of Teaching Dance, the author describes the transformative somatic principles at work in his teaching of dance technique. She concludes by arguing that the theories she presents can be interwoven and considered in a cyclical process.

Why does writing of the death penalty demand the first-person treatment that it also excludes? The article investigates the role played by the autobiographical subject in Derrida's The Death Penalty, Volume I, where the confessing ‘I’ doubly supplements the philosophical investigation into what Derrida sees as a trend toward the worldwide abolition of the death penalty: first, to bring out the harmonies or discrepancies between the individual subject's beliefs, anxieties, desires and interests with respect to the death penalty and the state's exercise of its sovereignty in applying it; and second, to provide a new definition of the subject as haunted, as one that has been, but is no longer, subject to the death penalty, in the light of the worldwide abolition currently underway.

Personological interpretation of texts suggests the implementation of the general scientific and also hermeneutical settings specific for Personology which include the setting of the interpretation of the text as a research, setting of a variety of hermeneutical actions with the text, setting to identify unexplored contents of the text, setting of the creative comprehension of the mysteries of the text, setting of the integrity of the attitude of the individual and the "I" of the author of the text, setting to reveal the author's ability to be "practicing phenomenologist", setting of the definition of the place in the text in the continuum of textual representations of the "personality", setting in the correlation of the understanding of the text with other interpretations and their integration, setting of the disclosure of the author's "ideas person" is possible only in the unity of interpretation, setting of the construction and usage of hermeneutical models defining the procedure for the interpretation of both studies and work, the setting to determine the place of hermeneutical research in culture and knowledge of a person's life, setting of the interpretation of various types of "texts of the individual."

The problem of identity is an issue of contemporary society that is not only expressed in daily life concerns but also in discourses of politics and social movements. Nevertheless, the I and the needs of self-fulfillment usually are taken for granted. This paper offers thoughts regarding individual identity based on Niklas Luhmann’s systems theory. From this perspective, identity is not observed as a thing or as a subject, but rather as a “selfillusion” of a system of consciousness, which differentiates itself from the world, event after event, in a contingent way. As concerns the definition  of contents of self-identity, the structures of social systems define who is a person, how he or she should act, and how much esteem he or she should receive. These structures are adopted by consciousness as its own identity structures; however, some social contexts are more relevant for self-identity construction than others. Moral communication increases the probability that structure appropriation takes place, since the emotional element of identity is linked to the esteem/misesteem received by the individual from the interactions in which he or she participates.

In this paper, the author examines public service as depicted in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BtVS). First, she shows how slaying meets the economist’s definition of a public good, using the BtVS episode “Flooded” (6.04). Second, she discusses public service motivation (PSM) to determine whether or not Buffy, a public servant, operates from a public service ethic. Relying on established measures and evidence from shooting scripts and episode transcripts, the author concludes Buffy is a public servant motivated by a public service ethic. In this way, BtVS informs scholarship on public service by broadening the concept of PSM beyond the public sector; prompting one to wonder whether it is located in a sector, an occupation, or in the individual. These conclusions allow the author to situate Buffy alongside other idealized public servants in American popular culture.

This chapter discusses the implications of Spinoza’s concept of individual bodies, as introduced in the definition of individuum in the physical digression. It begins by showing that this definition allows for an extremely wide application of the term; accordingly, very different sorts of physical entities can be described as Spinozistic individuals. Given the quite distinct use of the terms divisibilis and indivisibilis in his metaphysics, however, the chapter argues that the physical concept of individuality is not universally applied in the Ethics but reserved for physical or natural-philosophical considerations. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the problem of collective individuals. It is argued that, while societies or states are described as individual bodies, they do not constitute individual group minds in the strict sense of the term for Spinoza. This in turn indicates that minds are not individuated in the same way as bodies.
