The impact of teaching behavior towards teaching quality and self-assessment has become an emerging drift in education, providing an option for teachers’ development. However, studies on teaching behavior and self-assessment are still scarce, despite their importance in improving education. Thus, this review thoroughly identifies the aspects of teaching behavior and teaching quality, as well as the instruments of self-assessment in the teaching profession. Initially, 116 articles published on Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus between 2017 to 2021 were identified, and 10 out of 116 articles were retained for review, based on the exclusion and inclusion criteria. The criteria include the significant findings listed the aspects of teaching behavior and teaching quality. Second, the approaches of self-assessment are emphasized in teaching. Third, the reliability of the instruments used for self-assessment mostly achieved the internal consistency criteria. These three criteria imply the importance of self-assessment for quality teaching and teacher development. In general, this review could help teachers cultivate quality teaching behavior and perform reflective practice for their personal development.

BackgroundPhysical activity (PA) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is considered a cornerstone in the treatment. To highlight aspects involved in supporting a positive PA behaviour, it is important to understand the patients’ perceptions of the phenomenon.ObjectiveThe aim of this qualitative meta-synthesis was to explore and synthesise patient perceptions of PA in RA.MethodsA purposeful search was conducted across three online databases (PubMed, CINAHL and Web of Science). The methodological quality of the included studies was appraised, and data were extracted and analysed using an interpretive inductive thematic synthesis.ResultsFifteen studies met the inclusion criteria and were included. PA was identified as an agile lifelong behaviour, with one main theme: The disease as a persistent catalyst for or against PA illustrating how the constant presence of the disease itself underlies the entire process of a life with or without regular PA. Seven subthemes: ‘considering aggravated symptoms’, ‘acknowledging the impact on health’, ‘becoming empowered and taking action’, ‘keeping informed to increase awareness’, ‘creating body awareness’, ‘dealing with social support’ and ‘feeling satisfied with circumstances and achievements’ were interpreted as facilitators and/or challenges.ConclusionThis synthesis has identified PA as an agile lifelong behaviour in which the disease pervades all aspects of an individuals’ perception of PA. Placed in a theoretical context, our findings outline a model for tailoring PA support to the drivers and determinants of a certain individual, which will improve clinical practice for the benefit of both health professionals and patients with RA.

This study aims to investigate the development of executive functions (EFs) for pre-service teachers, their issues during teaching practice, and their motivations for entering the teaching profession. EF self-assessment questionnaires, logbooks, structured in-depth interviews, and support system evaluation forms were used to collect the data. The theory has suggested that school field experiences are particularly effective in student teacher development at the grade level. This study demonstrated a positive association between student teachers’ EFs using four years of data from 45 pre-service teachers participating in teacher preparation programs. Fifteen pre-service teachers attending the fifth year of their teacher education program at a university in Thailand. This longitudinal study used four years (during 2017-2020) of data.

Knowing what defines ‘effective teaching’ contributes significantly to the appropriateness and validity of the instruction provided to pre-service teachers during their initial training. This may help them to perform as expert teachers before finishing their university training. This study aims to reflect upon the most significant models and theoretical contributions of each of the five most common methods for investigating teaching effectiveness in the current scientific literature. To that end, the main scientific sources within this field of study have been obtained on the Internet through the Web of Science (WoS), Scopus and ERIC. The sources were selected for their relevance to the topic, which was determined by assessing the citations generated by the academic works and the impact of the journals in which they were published. The results show that the key and most central factor salient in teaching quality is related to the teachers themselves and their training. Thus, any educational model that seeks educational excellence must focus foremost on ensuring care and respect for teaching professionals, beyond economic investment, resource availability, or any other factors.

Abstract Objectives Air pollution can lead to many cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, but the impact of air pollution on pulmonary embolism is still uncertain. We conducted a meta-analysis to assess the relationship between air pollution and pulmonary embolism. Content We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and the Cochran Library for citations on air pollutants (carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone and particulate matter) and pulmonary embolism. A total of nine citations met the inclusion criteria. There is no evidence of bias. CO, SO2, PM10 and PM2.5 had no significant effect on the occurrence of pulmonary embolism. NO2 and O3 can increase the risk of pulmonary embolism to a small extent. Summary This meta-analysis suggests that some air pollutants are associated with an increased risk of pulmonary embolism. Outlook Reducing air pollution and improving air quality can effectively reduce the risk of pulmonary embolism.

The teaching profession demands that every teacher be competent and quality in human capital formation, human resource development, community and Nation. In the 21st century, teaching methods are a key factor in determining the quality of student learning. In an effort to ensure the quality of student learning both SISC+ and Teachers mentored (GDB) work collaboratively to improve the quality of teaching. This is in line with the role and function of the SISC+ position under the sub-initiative of the NKRA GTP 1.0 contained in the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013-2025. These SISC+ officers have been tasked with mentoring and coaching teachers in Band 5, 6 and 7 schools. The purpose of this study is to determine the quality of coaching teaching of SISC+ Officers as a predictor factor of teacher teaching quality. Additional relationships between the dimensions of the coaching teaching of SISC+ were also identified. This quantitative study involved 250 repondents around the country from National Primary teachers. This study uses Coaching Teaching instrument adapted from the Instrument Managerial Coaching Skills developed by Sohee.P et. al (2008)31. Coaching Teaching consists of five key dimensions of effective communication, team approach, open values, teacher acceptance and teacher development. Multiple regression analysis showed that the SISC+ quality of the combined model of team approach, teacher acceptance and teacher development contributed 63.5% (R2 = .635) variance in teacher quality [F(3, 246)=142.905, p <0.5]. As a whole, the dimension of coaching teaching influences the quality of teacher quality in National Primary schools.
