The urgency of the issue under study is due to dynamics of the number of children with disabilities in the country and in particular regions. For instance, the total number of disabled children in Russia receiving social pensions between the ages of 0 and 18 was more than 655 thousand, as of January 1, 2018. At the same time, an increase of this indicator is observed constantly. The need to develop scientifically based recommendations for the establishment of rehabilitation centers is due to the fact, that in most cases this assistance is provided in the adapted premises. It is not possible to carry out correctional work effectively. The article’s purpose is to identify factors in the formation of architectural environment of rehabilitation centers for children and adolescents with various disabilities. The systematic method of analyzing the objects in question is the leading approach to studying this problem. Identified factors are divided into external and internal. The external are natural, climatic and anthropogenic factors. Internal include functional and technological, medical and ergonomic, sanitary and hygienic, architectural and stylistic factors. All factors are interrelated. This is reflected in a pilot project of a rehabilitation center for children and adolescents in the Oryol Region. The materials of the article can be useful for architects when designing rehabilitation centers for children and adolescents with various disabilities.

In pedagogical circles always having the discussion concerning the effectiveness, feasibility of one or another form of training. A difficult issue is the differentiation of the psycho-medico-pedagogical commissions on the selection of programs and learning, educational institution. Thus, the actual research of the education of children with special educational needs on the example of educational institutions of Rivne.Research objective: to study the formation of the system of education for children with special educational needs. Research objectives: 1. To conduct a systems analysis of the scientific literature on the topic of research. 2. Examine the network of inclusive schools in Rivne. 3. Analyze the provision of educational services to children with disabilities in Rovno educational and rehabilitation center "Special Child". 4. Synthesize statistical information and reveal the dynamics of qualitative and quantitative nosology of children with disabilities in schools.Research methods: theoretical analysis of literary sources, summarizing statistical data of educational institutions of city Rivne. Analysis of the changes of the quantitative and qualitative composition of the inclusive class allows you to infer that children with special educational needs enrolled in inclusive classrooms for nosology violations observed a certain imbalance. So, the advantage for inclusive education is given to students with cognitive and reports violations. Almost twice smaller number of children in violation of the locomotor and hearing. Significantly fewer students with disorders and mental retardation. Not specified such diagnoses as an autistic spectrum disorder and down syndrome. Obviously, these were incorporate into the category of violations.Data analysis allows us to draw conclusions that the implementation of the State programme concerning the staffing system of inclusive education is effective, but does not provide the full needs of schools in all members of the interdisciplinary team of rehabilitation support a child with special educational needs. In particular, not all educational institutions are equipped properly to ensure the needs of the child and the implementation of a full-fledged correction support; not organized by specialized facilities, inadequate rehabilitation equipment, special furniture for pupils with impaired function of the musculoskeletal system; missing tiflocorrection means, tiflopedagog; the physical therapist is not available in all schools.Conclusions. The analysis of this problem leads to the following conclusions: in the scientific and methodical sources analyzed the effectiveness and usefulness of various forms of educational services for children with special needs. Analysis of inclusive classes shows positive dynamics of this process and increase the number of pupils with impaired psychophysical development in secondary schools.Experience of the Rivne training and rehabilitation center "Special Child" and confirms that as a result of the implementation of inclusive education in school has increased the number of children with complex disabilities development, accompanied by intellectual retardation and existing disabilities. Therefore, special educational institutions should be multiprofile that will provide your child with special educational needs education and obtaining proper corrective rehabilitation support.Due to the focused State policy implementation of the inclusion in the General space training and re-training of teachers contributed to the increase in the number of pupils with special educational needs, allowed to expand as the quantitative and qualitative composition inclusive classes.Prospects of the further researches. There is an objective need for further study of the entire complex of issues related to the implementation of the right to education of children with disabilities. In particular, no special educational institutions, with the possibility of teaching a child with disabilities in comprehensive school essential not making are the problem of ensuring the continuity of rehabilitation.

The article shows the role of Russian ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Problem analysis of kind of services for chil- dren with disabilities and lifelong disabled persons is performed using a schema “Alternative living models for a lifelong disabled person in Russia”. The article demonstrates the main content of early intervention programs and the role and place of a multidisciplinary team of program experts. We discuss the main aspects of the problems related to education for disabled children, the features of linkage between social services and social support for children with disabilities and families raising them. Attention is paid to the development and widespread implementation of hospital- substituting technologies. The article presents con- cept of a pilot project of the Foundation for children in difficult life situation to facilitate the social adaptation of disabled persons. Author made a conclusions on increasing authorities’ attention to disable person’s needs, the need for change in the current legislation according to UN Convention, and annexations to federal legislation governing the rights of disabled children and lifelong disabled persons, the need to develop public policies using all available resources and the experience of socially oriented NGOs primarily.

Prevention of disability is one of the most significant tasks of child and adolescent psychiatry. Obtaining data on the dynamics of the number of people with disabilities and the factors affecting this indicator seems to be one of the relevant aspects. Aim: to trace the dynamics of the number of children with disabili-ties and to assess the change in the structure of early disability over the past decades. Materials and Meth-ods. A comparative analysis of two cohorts of patients was carried out: 1st - patients born in 1990-1992. (1203 patients (men - 914, 76%; women - 289, 24%)) who applied to the district neuropsychiatric dispensa-ry for outpatient care in childhood and adolescence; II - children and adolescents born in 2005 - 2018 (602 patients (male - 410, 68%; female - 192, 32%), ob-served at the time of the study by a child psychiatrist in the neuropsychiatric dispensary. Research methods: clinical and psychopathological; follow-up; statisti-cal. Results. Comparison of the number and nosologi-cal distribution of disabled children in two cohorts showed that over the 15th year there has been a shift towards an increase in the proportion of disabled children among patients observed by child and ado-lescent psychiatrists. The increase in the number of children with disabilities was due to those suffering from childhood autism and other disorders of general development. There were no statistically significant differences in the number of people with disabilities who received benefits before the age of 7, as well as differences in gender ratios among disabled people in the two cohorts. Conclusion. Early disability is a mul-tifactorial phenomenon, prevalence, dynamics, the structure of which depends not only on clinical, but also on socio-administrative realities. Children with autism require increased attention, since there has been a multiple increase in the number of patients with this diagnosis.

The article includes the voices of key stakeholders in the quest to end HIV in children so that lessons from their experiences can be used by policy makers in strengthening services.

School closures during pandemics raise important concerns for children and adolescents. Our aim is synthesizing available data on the impact of school closure during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on child and adolescent health globally. We conducted a rapid systematic review by searching PubMed, Embase, and Google Scholar for any study published between January and September 2020. We included a total of ten primary studies. COVID-19-related school closure was associated with a significant decline in the number of hospital admissions and pediatric emergency department visits. However, a number of children and adolescents lost access to school-based healthcare services, special services for children with disabilities, and nutrition programs. A greater risk of widening educational disparities due to lack of support and resources for remote learning were also reported among poorer families and children with disabilities. School closure also contributed to increased anxiety and loneliness in young people and child stress, sadness, frustration, indiscipline, and hyperactivity. The longer the duration of school closure and reduction of daily physical activity, the higher was the predicted increase of Body Mass Index and childhood obesity prevalence. There is a need to identify children and adolescents at higher risk of learning and mental health impairments and support them during school closures.

The aim of the present study was to explore the nature, extent and probable causes of nutritional deficiencies among children with disabilities living in Dharavi, a slum in Mumbai, India. A cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate whether the nutritional status of children with disabilities, aged 2–6 years (n141), was worse than that of non-disabled sibling controls (n122) and neighbour controls (n162). Data on food patterns, anthropometry, micronutrient status and feeding difficulties reported by parents were collected. The mean weight for age of the children with disabilities (−2·44 (sd 1·39)Zscores;n120) was significantly lower (P<0·05) compared with the sibling (−1·70 (sd 1·20)Zscores;n109) and neighbour (−1·83 (sd 1·290)Zscores;n162) control groups. The children with disabilities had significantly lower (P<0·05) mean haemoglobin levels (92 (sd 23) g/l;n134) compared with siblings (102 (sd 18) g/l;n103) and neighbours (99 (sd 18) g/l;n153). Relative risk (RR) analysis indicated that the disabled children with feeding difficulties were significantly more likely (P<0·05) to be malnourished, by the indicator of weight for age (RR 1·1; 95 % CI 1·08, 1·20) compared with the disabled children without a feeding difficulty. They were also significantly more likely to be malnourished using the indicators of height for age (RR 1·3; 95 % CI 1·19, 1·43) and weight for height (RR 2·4; 95 % CI 1·78, 3·23) compared with the disabled children without a feeding difficulty. Feeding difficulties were identified as a risk factor for vulnerability to inadequate nutritional status among children with disabilities.

IntroductionStudies have found that the cognitive function levels of intellectually challenged children add a burden to the family and affect quality of life.ObjectivesThe purpose of this study was to determine the family burden felt by mothers of children, ages 6–16, whose mental capacity evaluation indicates an IQ of 35–79 to explore the mother's quality of life and discover the factors that yield an impact in this context.AimsThe main objective of this study therefore was to ascertain the family burden and quality of life experienced by the parents of children with mentally retarded or borderline mental capacity.MethodsThe WISC-R test was used in the research to determine the intellectual capacity of children, 6–16 years of age. The sample comprised 131 children and adolescents between the ages 6–16 with IQs in the interval of 35–79 and their mothers. The parents accompanying their children were assessed using the Family Burden Assessment Scale, the World Health Organization Quality of Life instrument and a sociodemographic questionnaire that was filled out during face-to-face interviews.ResultsThe quality of life of the mothers was found to be average. At the same time, as the IQ level of the children went up, the less the mothers felt they were under a family burden. It was seen that the mothers experienced the most difficulty in the domains of “perception of inadequacy” and “emotional burden.”ConclusionMothers with intellectually disabled children need psychosocial support. Background: The prevalence of pediatric metabolic syndrome is usually closely linked to overweight and obesity; however, this condition has also been described in children with disabilities. We performed a multivariate pattern analysis of metabolic profiles in neurologically impaired children and adolescents in order to reveal patterns and crucial biomarkers among highly interrelated variables. Patients and methods: We retrospectively reviewed 44 cases of patients (25M/19F, mean age 12.9 ± 8.0) with severe disabilities. Clinical and anthropometric parameters, body composition, blood pressure, and metabolic and endocrinological assessment (fasting blood glucose, insulin, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, glutamate pyruvate transaminase, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase) were recorded in all patients. As a control group, we evaluated 120 healthy children and adolescents (61M/59F, mean age 12.9 ± 2.7). Results: In the univariate analysis, the children-with-disabilities group showed a more dispersed distribution, thus with higher variability of the features related to glucose metabolism and insulin resistance (IR) compared to the healthy controls. The principal component (PC1), which emerged from the PC analysis conducted on the merged dataset and characterized by these variables, was crucial in describing the differences between the children-with-disabilities group and controls. Conclusion: Children and adolescents with disabilities displayed a different metabolic profile compared to controls. Metabolic syndrome (MetS), particularly glucose metabolism and IR, is a crucial point to consider in the treatment and care of this fragile pediatric population. Early detection of the interrelated variables and intervention on these modifiable risk factors for metabolic disturbances play a central role in pediatric health and life expectancy in patients with a severe disability.

Hepatitis-B,C,HIV and TB among intravenous drug users continues to be a serious explanation for disease and death, this study was conducted to survey the prevalence of Hepatitis-B,C,HIV and TB in rehabilitation center of Punjab, Pakistan. A telephonic and visited survey of 78 rehabilitation centers in Punjab Pakistan to assess their treatment. An analysis of 21 responded that returned useable data revealed that only 7.2% patients of responded rehabilitation centers are positive for HEP-B. 33.23% patients are positive for HEP-C, 8.74% patients are positive for HIV and 0.87% patients are positive for TB. Majority of the respondent of whom doctors, psychologists believe that the patient, partner of the patient and their children should be offered for HEP-B,C,HIV and TB screening regularly.
