The evolutionary process of the Fourth Industrial Revolution has faced the Coronavirus Pandemic and its challenges in combating the disease. Thus, this article aimed to reflect and indicate how disruptive technological advances allow society to readjust and adapt. In that regard, a revision was carried out which enabled an in-depth analysis of current references on the topic. It was observed that, even in times of social isolation, the community made important publications on the subject. It was also noted the emergence of new knowledge that brings new concepts and points out challenges to be faced and transformations to be carried out. These concepts can be used by public managers, urban planners, engineers and society as a whole to build smart and sustainable future cities.

informetric researches depends on the practices that have emerged and developed in the professions of libraries and information, and are now widely known in all the domains and knowledge fields as a result of the scientific and technical transformations shifts caused by the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This new phase focuses strongly and exponentially on the applications of mathematical and statistical measurement of information. The area of research in informetric is one of the areas that discuss many problems at the linguistic, reformist, and intellectual levels that are linked to it as new concepts and the classic concepts that sometimes overlaps. In addition, the flexibility that distinguish this field, which requires developing vocabulary and indicators that keep pace with the new transformations. This work can be explained and interpret through the work and efforts of the Arab World's information specialists, which enhance the situation of this specialization among other disciplines. Through this study, the researcher discussed the contributions of librarians and information specialists in Algeria in this field of knowledge, which conducted on the Algerian Scientific Journal Platform (ASJP), to identify scientific publications that address the subject of informetric and related issues.

Within the context of the fourth industrial revolution, cryptocurrencies pose several challenges in the framework of corporate insolvency law. In South African law, no statutory framework vis-à-vis cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, currently exists. This has however not prevented entities from engaging in the cryptocurrency market. The specific dilemma is that insolvency practitioners do not have legislative guidelines to assist them in dealing with the subject of cryptocurrencies. Consequently, international judicial developments must be consulted and analysed with the aim to close the gap between the legislature and Industry 4.0. This article unpacks the South African legal position on cryptocurrencies within the context of the statutory powers and duties of insolvency practitioners. It engages in an analysis of selected international courts cases that have dealt with the concept of cryptocurrencies within the context of insolvent estates and continues to make recommendations for the development of an efficient and effective regulatory model.

At present, the World Tourism Organization indicates that, as a worldwide export category, tourism occupies the third position, behind chemical and fuel products and ahead of the automotive industry. In many developing countries, tourism is the main export sector. Therefore, the purpose of this chapter is to propose an approach to the training of tourism professionals for the fourth industrial revolution, so this chapter proposes an approach to educational competencies in the training of tourism professionals for Industry 4.0 with a focus in sustainable development; initially, the subject of educational competencies in higher education will be described, since derived from these, professional competencies are achieved. Next, the exploration of the concepts of intellectual capital, tourism, and the fourth industrial revolution will be shown; to conclude the authors show the relation of the thematic axes.

Orientation: Whilst the South African motorcycle industry faces a declining market, an additional challenge remains – the movement of the market into the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), calling for strategic amendments.Research purpose: The purpose of this research was to investigate and analyse the current strategies of a specific manufacturer, with the aim of establishing a strategic positioning suitable for the 4IR to gain a competitive advantage.Motivation for the study: Acquired knowledge resulted in the establishment of various suggestions and recommendations, benefitting the manufacturer to gain a competitive advantage in the 4IR and thus strengthening its strategic positioning.Research design, approach and method: Following an interpretive paradigm, a qualitative approach was used, allowing for in-depth analysis of 29 semi-structured interviews at five different dealerships and the regional head office in South Africa. Interviewees were selected using purposive and convenience sampling for the initial contact with the individual dealerships and regional head office of the motorcycle manufacturer. Thereafter, further interviewees were acquired based on the study requirements. Content analysis was applied to analyse the data.Main findings: Some interviewees were less acquainted with the strategy and positioning of the manufacturer. Strong customer engagement strategies are necessary whilst targeting new markets.Practical/managerial implications: Additional training is required, ensuring the equal acquisition of knowledge amongst employees. The introduction of technologies and the 4IR to customers is required to grow the market. New markets need to be identified and analysed to ensure efficient targeting.Contribution/value-add: Whilst South Africa addresses the 4IR differently to Europe; this study’s focus provides insights for the specific manufacturer to accurately conquer the changing environment.

PurposeBrazil is struggling as the unemployment rate is 12.4% and nearly 13m people are unemployed. The fourth Industrial Revolution is advancing, and the country needs to consider how it will impact the labor market. This work explores the impact of automation on the Brazilian workforce to supply decision-makers with information about the subject.Design/methodology/approachThe authors converted the probability of computerization from the seminal work of Frey and Osborne to each of the more than 2,500 occupations in Brazil. They then crossed the automation probability with socioeconomic information about workers and companies available in the Brazilian Ministry of Labor Database.FindingsIn total, 60% of employment in Brazil is expected to be highly impacted by automation in the coming decades, with eight out of the ten occupations with the biggest workforce being highly automatable. Automation probability decreases as workers' education level increases, with the most significant difference between workers with higher education and those without it. The results show other inequalities in the impact of automation: the higher the wage, the lower the automation probability of occupations; the bigger the company, the lower the automation index; and workers from 16 to 24 years old have considerably higher chances of being automated.Originality/valueThis work is the first to study, in the context of the fourth Industrial Revolution, the impact of automation in Brazil with a socioeconomic analysis.

Since the coinage of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), there has been plethora of studies on the concept. The 4IR, otherwise referred to as Industry 4.0, is a nomenclature used by Klaus Schwab to describes the historical progression of technological advancement. The 4IR is principally the integration of the physical, digital, and industrial worlds. The testimonies of these advancements will result in self-driving cars, intelligent robots, autonomous drones, 3D printing, smart sensors, among several others. In fact, this is already a reality and is revolutionising our world. Given all these technological advances and unimaginable possibilities of the future, it is very sacrosanct to examine the role education will play in this era. What entrepreneurial skills will be required for the 4IR? How does entrepreneurial ecosystem position themselves to thrive in this era? This chapter explores those skills needed in the 4IR.

The term Industry 4.0 has gained prominence in academic and business discourses in recent years, having its concept related to the so-called fourth industrial revolution. Goal: The present research aims to develop and present a framework with the concepts of Industry 4.0. Methodology: The study started from a quantitative analysis of the academic articles available in the Scopus database. Subsequently, a qualitative analysis of articles and technical reports (mostly) was carried out to obtain a more applied technological vision in the industry. With this, technological clusters were built and, finally, the Industry 4.0 framework was proposed. Results: As a result, it was possible to establish an overview of the publications, highlighting the main conceptual views of the different terms that converge for the fourth industrial revolution, as well as the main technologies associated with Industry 4.0, systematizing the knowledge in the industry 4.0 framework. Limitations of the investigation: The search has been limited to available and selected papers for reading. Practical implications: The practical contribution has been satisfactorily evaluated to assist future research on the subject. Value: Finally, the main contribution of the work is the creation of a framework that synthesizes and systematizes the relationships among the main characteristics, technologies, products and business models of the 4.0.

Higher education in the fourth industrial revolution (HE 4.0) is a complex, dialectical and exciting opportunity which can potentially transform society for the better. The fourth industrial revolution is powered by artificial intelligence and it will transform the workplace from tasks based characteristics to the human centred characteristics. Because of the convergence of man and machine, it will reduce the subject distance between humanities and social science as well as science and technology. This will necessarily require much more interdisciplinary teaching, research and innovation. The convergence of data, computation, and globalization in education has far-reaching consequences for educational stakeholders, institutions, and learners. Terms such as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, artificial intelligence (AI), exponential technology, deep learning, personalized competency-based learning, and distributed ledger technology networks (DLTNs) are indicators of the changing dialogue between education stakeholders, businesses, and government aspirations on a global scale. Location-independent virtual environments promise an exponential expansion that goes beyond brick-and-mortar schools, colleges, and universities. AI and intelligent systems are poised to become global change agents in education, ushering in profound changes in administrative functions, strategic planning, data aggregation, student acquisition and retention, and alternative currencies, as well as curriculum design, assessment, personal learning networks, and global competitiveness generally of both institutions and their graduates. The quality of the education a nation's schools, educational institutions, and teachers provide, along with investments in science, technology engineering, and mathematics education, directly impact economic prosperity and global competitiveness. This paper explores some of the interdependencies that arise from supercharged technological advances such as AI augmented reality digital technologies (ARDTs) and DLTNs and their possible impact on education, educators, learners, and society. In addition, it unbundles the meaning and use cases of AI, ARDTs, and DLTNs in education.

An old Chinese proverb says: “What I hear, I forget; what I see, I remember; what I do, I learn”. This wisdom continues to be valid in this 21st century and even more so in this era characterized by the proliferation of new knowledge resulting from accelerated change in all areas of human activity. We are experiencing the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a process as amazing as it is challenging that inevitably leads to reinventing our society - the way we think, relate, and live, but also radically transform production systems, giving rise to a new paradigm that forces us to retrain our workforce at lightning speed, especially technicians and engineers. This implies that we must manage to achieve more effective and faster ways to transfer knowledge. In MECSOFT we find one that we have been using and refining for 20 years. We call it the Pyramid of the Flow of Knowledge (PFC in Spanish); Its results have always been so encouraging that we believe it is very convenient and timely to share it with society, especially at this time when education is urgently reinvented. MECSOFT is a company specialized in Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing and arises from a university research project with the idea of implementing this technology in the Costa Rican productive sector. The objective has been fulfilled thanks to the Pyramid of Knowledge Flow method.
