Mimusops elengi is a medium-sized evergreen tree found in tropical forests in South  Asia, Southeast Asia and Northern Australia. Its timber is valuable, the fruit is edible, and it is used in traditional medicine. As the trees give thick shade and flowers emit fragrance, it is a prized collection of gardens. The problem of this plant is its seed that has dormancy. Dormancy fulfills an important function for plants since it allows seeds to survive conditions and seasons that are unfavorable for seedling growth. This study aims to determine the interaction treatment of physical and chemical in solving dormancy on the M. elengi seed. The experiment was conducted at Laboratory of Seed Science and Technology at Juni to October 2017. There were two factors that were studied, namely the first factor of physical treatment by soaking the seeds in hot water with the level of 0, 60, 120, and 180 hours and the second factor of chemical treatment using 97% sulfuric acid with level 0, 10, 20 and 30%. The parameters measured were maximum growth potential, germination capability, vigor index, relative speed of growth, simultaneously of growth, time to reach 50% germination total and dormancy intensity. The conclusions of this study are the best soaking duration for dormancy seed breaking of M. elengi is in water at 60 °C for 180 minutes. The best concentration of sulfuric acid for breaking seed dormancy is 20%. There was a significant interaction between the duration of soaking in hot water and the concentration of sulfuric acid on all observed parameters. The best combination was found at duration of soaking of 180 minutes in hot water 60 0 C and sulfuric acid concentration 20% can accelerate germination of M. elengi seeds from 90 days (without treatment) to 24 days (after treatment).  There was an increase in germination capability from 20% to 68%,  maximum growth potential 73.33%, vigor index 33.33%, relative speed of growth 67.31%, simultaneously of growth 61.31%, time to reach 50% germination  total 31.50 days and dormancy intensity. Keywords: Dormancy, physical and chemical, spanish cherry, viability, vigor

This study aims to determine the effect of the location of fruit on trees and treatment on seeds to germination cocoa. This study was conducted in Tumpok Teungoh Village, Banda Sakti Sub-district, Lhokseumawe City, August to September 2016. This study used Completely Randomized Design with 3 replications. Two factors studied were (a) the location of the fruit on the tree where L1 = The location of the fruit on the stem and L2 = The location of the fruit on the branch. (b) treatment factor in seeds where P1 = Without pulp clearance, P2 = Pulp cleansing. The parameters observed were potential growth, germination, vigor index, growth rate and synchronization of cocoa seed growth. The result of variance analysis showed that the fruit difference treatment did not affect the observation of maximum growth potential and cocoa seed germination, but it influenced the observation of vigor index, growth rate and synchronization of cocoa seed growth. Treatment of pulp cleansing did not affect the observation of growth potential, germination, growth rate and synchronization of seed growth, but pulp cleansing treatment had an effect on observation of vigor index of cocoa seed. There was no interaction between fruit difference treatment and treatment of cocoa bean pulp cleansing of all observed parameters

Germination  problems in the commerce in general are the seeds will experience a period save on condition of sub optium.The seeds that have high viability and vigor which is expected to be passed on to seed derivatives that are genetically seed quality can be maintained. The study aims to determine the diversity of physiological seed quality of 20 genotypes of papaya collection Tropical Fruit Research Institute. Research conducted at the KP Sumani Balitbu Tropika 2015. Materials: 20 genotype papaya seeds. Research using a randomized block design with three replications treatment of 20 genotypes of papaya. Results of the study showed germination of 20 genotypes of papaya tested ranged from 33-93%, vigor index among 11-81%, the maximum growth potential of among 16-100%, and the plant fresh weight ranges from 0.5 - 15 g. Genetic diversity germination, the seeds of papaya is very high. Characters germination, vigor index and wet weights, the character is inherited as too high the heritability

Foxtail millet is annual grasses with grains that are smaller than those of sorghum, rice, and wheat, and is considered one of the minor economic crops but with nutritional values similar to other major food crops. The development of millet as major cereal crop is considered challenging due to the low quality of its seeds, and studies have been conducted to improve millet’s seed quality. We conducted this study to determine the harvesting criteria of foxtail millet seeds based on the change in color of the panicles. We also wanted to determine the drying treatment, and evaluate the relationship between the position of the seed on the panicles and the seed viability and vigor. The first experiment was arranged based on a completely randomized design with panicle color as the first factor (green, yellow 75%, and brown) and drying time as the second factor (0 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours). The second experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with seed position as the main factor (base, middle, tip). The study was conducted on two genotypes of millet, i.e. “BOTOK 4” and “BOTOK 10”. The highest seed quality of “BOTOK 4” and “BOTOK 10” genotypes were obtained when the panicles were brown and dried for 72 hours; the seed chlorophyll content was the lowest and water content was 8.88%, with the highest viability and vigor, i.e., germination rate of 88.3%-90%, maximum growth potential of 92%-95.3%, normal sprout dry weight 596-620 mg, vigor index of 33.6% - 21.6%, and growth rate of 18.2%-17.1% etmal-1. The highest seed viability and vigor in “BOTOK 4” genotypes were obtained from the base position, i.e., 78.7% germination rate, maximum growth potential of 83.7%, vigor index of 56.5%, growth speed of 19.6 etmal-1, normal sprout dry weight of 48 mg, radicle length of 3.3 cm) and “BOTOK 10” genotypes from the middle position with 91.5% germination, maximum growth potential of 97.2%, vigor index  of 21.7%, growth speed of 17.0% etmal-1, and normal sprout dry weight 61 mg.

The aim of this study was to obtain the best temperature on several genotypes so as to increase the best viability and vigour of cauliflower seeds in the lowlands. The research was conducted at the Laboratory Agronomy, OPT and Soil Biotechnology Faculty of Agriculture, Singaperbangsa Karawang University. The research method used was an experimental method with a two-factor completely randomized design (CRD). The first factor is temperature which consists of room temperature without air conditioning (P0), air-conditioned room temperature (P1) and refrigerator temperature (P2). The second factor is genotypes consisting of Viola (B1), Tegar 45 (B2), Snow Waltz (B3), Jayanti (B4), Giga (B5), Snow White (B6), Diamond (B7), Orient (B8). , Roo So 45 (B9), Forum (B10), Bima (B11), F1 Hybrid (B12) and Arjuna (B13). Each treatment was repeated 2 times so that 78 experiments were obtained and 2 times planting (before and after storage). The results of the pre-storage experiment showed that there was no interaction between temperature treatment and several genotypes, but in the post-storage experiment, there were an interaction with the parameters of germination, concurrency of growth, vigor index and maximum growth potential, while for parameters of moisture content, normal germinated dry weight and length of sprouts. indicates there is no interaction. The best treatment was room temperature without AC genotype Roo So 45 (P0B9). Keywords: Cabbage flower, genotype, temperature, , viability, vigour.

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan konsentrasi auksin dalam hydropriming dan tingkat kadaluarsa serta interaksi keduanya terhadap viabilitas benih cabai kadaluarsa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakaan di Laboratorium Ilmu dan Teknologi Benih Jurusan Agroteknologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh dari bulan Maret sampai Juni 2018. Unit-unit penelitian disusun berdasarkan Rancangan Acak Lengkap pola faktorial 4x3 dengan 3 ulangan dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Jujur taraf 5% pada hasil uji F yang signifikan. Faktor pertama adalah perendaman dalam larutan auksin dengan konsentrasi : 0, 2, 4, dan 6 g L-1 dan faktor kedua adalah tingkat kadaluarsa dengan 3 taraf yaitu 4, 8 dan 12 bulan. Benih yang telah diperlakukan dikecambahkan dengan metode Uji Diatas Kertas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan konsentrasi auksin berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tolok ukur potensi tumbuh maksimum, indeks vigor dan kecepatan tumbuh relatif, berpengaruh nyata pada tolok ukur daya berkecambah dan keserempakan tumbuh. Tingkat Kadaluarsa berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tolok ukur potensi tumbuh maksimum dan daya berkecambah. Perlakuan konsentrasi auksin  2 g L-1 dengan tingkat kadaluarsa 4 bulan merupakan kombinasi perlakuan terbaik berdasarkan tolok ukur potensi tumbuh maksimum (97,33%).The Effect of Auxin Concentrations in Hydropriming and Levels of Expired Chilli Seed to Seed ViabilityAbstract. The purposes of this research were to know the effect of auxin concentrations in hydropriming and levels of seed expired and interaction between them to chilli seed viability. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Science and Technology Department of Agrotechnology Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh from March to June 2018. Research units were arranged based on factorial Completely Randomized Design 4x3 with 3 replicates, continued with Honesty Significant Different on significant F-test results. The first factor was immersion in auxin solution with concentration: 0, 2, 4, and 6 g L-1 and the second factor was expired level with 3 levels 4, 8 and 12 months. Treated seed were planted on paper test method and in trays added with soil. The results showed that the auxin concentration treatment had a very significant effect on the maximum growth potential, vigor index and relative growth rate, significant effect on germination power and The expiration rate had a very significant effect on the maximum growth potential and germination power. Treatment of 2 g L-1 auksin concentration with 4 month expiration rate was the best treatment combination based on maximum growth potential (97,33%).

<p style="text-align: justify;">This research was held from April to July 2012, located in the seed processing unit of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk, Central Borneo. The study consisted of three experiments, the first experiment to determine the effect of water temperature and immersion intensity of seed germination. The first experiment used completely randomized design (CRD) factorial with two factors, water temperature: 27, 60, 70, 80, 90<sup>o</sup>C and immersion intensity: 1x24, 2x24, 3x24 hours. The second experiment used a single factor of CRD namely ethephon concentration: 0, 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 1.6%. The third experiment was a continuation from the second experiment with the adding heat drying treatment during a week. The result showed that 3x24 hours soaking treatment in 80<sup>o</sup>C hot water increased the germination, soaking in ethephon 0.4% inhibited radicle growth resulted abnormal seedlings. Soaking seed in 80<sup>o</sup>C hot water for 3x24 hours and followed by ethephon and then heat drying treatment for a week increased germination (52.0% maximum growth potential) but still ineffective to break seed dormancy.</p><p>Key Words: breaking dormancy, ethephon, hot water treatment, oil palm seeds</p>

Abstract The process named “sulfite pretreatment to overcome recalcitrance of lignocellulose” (SPORL) is designed for the digestion of softwoods within the framework of the biorefinery concept. “Hot water extraction (HWE)” is an environmentally benign and low-cost pretreatment, which only needs water as a reagent. In the present study, HWE has been investigated as a pre-process prior to SPORL with Douglas fir as feedstock. The SPORL parameters, namely, temperature and treatment time, were in the range 135–155°C and 40–120 min, respectively, while the sulfuric acid concentration was 0.2–0.4% (v/v). The aim was to maximize the enzymatic digestibility of the treated wood. The severity of SPORL at different pretreatment conditions was characterized by the combined severity factor (CSF). The HWE pre-process led to a two-fold increase in specific surface area of the substrate. More hemicellulosic-derived simple sugars were dissolved in the spent liquor (SL) as the CSF increased from 1.23 to 1.82. A maximum enzymatic digestibility of 64.3% was attained when SPORL was conducted at 155°C for 120 min with a sulfuric acid concentration of 0.4% (v/v). A considerably high enzymatic digestibility (~55–60%) is still achievable by incorporating HWE prior to SPORL, even if the SPORL severity is reduced, namely to a lower temperature (145°C), a shorter time (80 min), and a lower acid volume (0.3% v/v).

The purpose of this study was to determine the vigor growth strength of Anjasmoro, Grobogan, and Burangrang seed varieties based on three doses categories of SP-36 fertilizer stored for 12 months. The treatment was done separately by separating 15 seed lots. The mean value was determined using the Orthogonal contrast test. The results showed that the large-seeded soybean varieties (Grobogan and Burangrang) had higher seed vigor compared to the small-seeded soybean varieties (Anjasmoro) based on the variables of the germination speed, vigor index, normal dry weight, germination growth, and maximum growth potential. The Grobogan variety produced higher seed vigor than Burangrang variety based on vigor index and germination. Anjasmoro and Grobogan varieties without fertilization produced a lower vigor compared to the one with recommended fertilizer doses (100 and 150 kg/ha) and above the recommended fertilizer doses (200 and 250 kg/ha) based on the rate of germination growth and the vigor index. Grobogan variety with recommended fertilizer dose (100 kg/ha) had the highest seed vigor compared to other varieties. Pengujian Vigor 15 Lot Benih Kedelai (Glycine Max L.) Yang Disimpan 12 Bulan Pada Suhu RendahABSTRAK: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk Mengetahui vigor kekuatan tumbuh benih kombinasi Varietas Anjasmoro, Grobogan, dan Burangrang pada tiga kategori dosis pupuk SP-36 yang telah disimpan 12 bulan. Rancangan perlakuan disusun secara tunggal yaitu 15 lot benih dan pemisahan nilai tengah menggunakan uji Orthogonal contrass. Hasil penelitian menunjukan varietas kedelai berbiji besar (Grobogan dan burangrang) lebih tinggi vigor benihnya dari varietas kedelai berbiji kecil (Anjasmoro) berdasarkan variabel kecepatan perkecamabahan, indeks vigor, bobot kering kecambah normal, daya berkecamabah dan potensi tumbuh maksimum. Perbandingan varietas Grobogan menghasilkan vigor benih yang lebih tinggi dari varietas Burangrang berdasarkan variabel indeks vigor dan daya berkecambah. Varietas Anjasmoro dan Grobogan tanpa pemupukan menghasilkan vigor yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan penambahan dosis pupuk rekomendasi (100 dan 150 kg/ha) dan diatas rekomendasi (200 dan 250 kg/ha) berdasrkan variavel kecepatan perkecmabahan dan indeks vigor. Varietas Grobogan dengan penambahan dosis rekomendasi (100 kg/ha) memiliki vigor benih yang paling tinggi dibandingkan perbandingan lainnya.

AbstractThis study presents an optimized leaching and electrowinning process for the recovery of copper from waste printed circuit boards including studies of chemical consumption and recirculation of leachate. Optimization of leaching was performed using response surface methodology in diluted sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide media. Optimum leaching conditions for copper were found by using 3.6 mol L−1 sulfuric acid, 6 vol.% hydrogen peroxide, pulp density of 75 g L−1 with 186 min leaching time at 20°C resulting in complete leaching of copper followed by over 92% recovery and purity of 99.9% in the electrowinning. Study of chemical consumption showed total decomposition of hydrogen peroxide during leaching, while changes in sulfuric acid concentration were minor. During recirculation of the leachate with up to 5 cycles, copper recovery and product purity remained at high levels while acid consumption was reduced by 60%.

Silk can be produced by spider or insect and have prospect as biomaterial for regenerative healing in medical treatment. Silk having physical and chemical properties that support biocompatibility in the living things..In this research, silk that was obtained from Indonesia natural resource of Attacus atlas silkmoth was explored and then will be  developed for biocompatible biomaterial. The treatment with NaOH was developed to separate the fiber from the cocoon. The obtained fiber is investigated its mechanical property by performing tensile test for single fiber. The biocompatibility testing was conducted with human cell (osteosarccoma) cultivation. The result identify that separation by using NaOH yield better better mechanical properties comparing konvenstional method with boiling in hot water. Biocompatibility testing indicate that the the fiber having good biocompatibility.
