Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan konsentrasi auksin dalam hydropriming dan tingkat kadaluarsa serta interaksi keduanya terhadap viabilitas benih cabai kadaluarsa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakaan di Laboratorium Ilmu dan Teknologi Benih Jurusan Agroteknologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh dari bulan Maret sampai Juni 2018. Unit-unit penelitian disusun berdasarkan Rancangan Acak Lengkap pola faktorial 4x3 dengan 3 ulangan dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Jujur taraf 5% pada hasil uji F yang signifikan. Faktor pertama adalah perendaman dalam larutan auksin dengan konsentrasi : 0, 2, 4, dan 6 g L-1 dan faktor kedua adalah tingkat kadaluarsa dengan 3 taraf yaitu 4, 8 dan 12 bulan. Benih yang telah diperlakukan dikecambahkan dengan metode Uji Diatas Kertas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan konsentrasi auksin berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tolok ukur potensi tumbuh maksimum, indeks vigor dan kecepatan tumbuh relatif, berpengaruh nyata pada tolok ukur daya berkecambah dan keserempakan tumbuh. Tingkat Kadaluarsa berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tolok ukur potensi tumbuh maksimum dan daya berkecambah. Perlakuan konsentrasi auksin  2 g L-1 dengan tingkat kadaluarsa 4 bulan merupakan kombinasi perlakuan terbaik berdasarkan tolok ukur potensi tumbuh maksimum (97,33%).The Effect of Auxin Concentrations in Hydropriming and Levels of Expired Chilli Seed to Seed ViabilityAbstract. The purposes of this research were to know the effect of auxin concentrations in hydropriming and levels of seed expired and interaction between them to chilli seed viability. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Science and Technology Department of Agrotechnology Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh from March to June 2018. Research units were arranged based on factorial Completely Randomized Design 4x3 with 3 replicates, continued with Honesty Significant Different on significant F-test results. The first factor was immersion in auxin solution with concentration: 0, 2, 4, and 6 g L-1 and the second factor was expired level with 3 levels 4, 8 and 12 months. Treated seed were planted on paper test method and in trays added with soil. The results showed that the auxin concentration treatment had a very significant effect on the maximum growth potential, vigor index and relative growth rate, significant effect on germination power and The expiration rate had a very significant effect on the maximum growth potential and germination power. Treatment of 2 g L-1 auksin concentration with 4 month expiration rate was the best treatment combination based on maximum growth potential (97,33%).

This study aims to determine the effect of the location of fruit on trees and treatment on seeds to germination cocoa. This study was conducted in Tumpok Teungoh Village, Banda Sakti Sub-district, Lhokseumawe City, August to September 2016. This study used Completely Randomized Design with 3 replications. Two factors studied were (a) the location of the fruit on the tree where L1 = The location of the fruit on the stem and L2 = The location of the fruit on the branch. (b) treatment factor in seeds where P1 = Without pulp clearance, P2 = Pulp cleansing. The parameters observed were potential growth, germination, vigor index, growth rate and synchronization of cocoa seed growth. The result of variance analysis showed that the fruit difference treatment did not affect the observation of maximum growth potential and cocoa seed germination, but it influenced the observation of vigor index, growth rate and synchronization of cocoa seed growth. Treatment of pulp cleansing did not affect the observation of growth potential, germination, growth rate and synchronization of seed growth, but pulp cleansing treatment had an effect on observation of vigor index of cocoa seed. There was no interaction between fruit difference treatment and treatment of cocoa bean pulp cleansing of all observed parameters

Hard bark seeds are one of the causes of long seed dormancy. The solution of salacca seed dormancy is done by soaking the seeds using gibberellin. The aim of this research to examine the effect of different concentration and soaking time of gibberellin on seed viability and growth of salak seedling. The research was conducted on May – July 2019 in Green House of Food Plant and Horticultural Protection Center, Central Java. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) 4 x 4 with 3 replications, each replications using 5 seeds. The first factor was concentration of gibberellin (G0: 0 ppm, G1: 20 ppm, G2: 40 ppm, G3: 60 ppm). The second factor was soaking time of gibberellin (S0: 10 minutes, S1: 25 minutes, S2: 40 minutes, S3: 55 minutes). Data were analyzed by variance and proceeded with Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at level 5% and orthogonal polynomial test. The observed variables were percentage of germination, maximum growth potential, seedling height, number of leaves, and root length. The results showed that the highest of percentage germination, maximum growth potential, and seedling height were observed in the 60 ppm of gibberellin concentration. The highest of percentage germination, maximum growth potential, and seedling height were researched in the soaking time 55 minutes. The highest root length was observed in the treatment of 60 ppm of GA3 and soaking time 55 minutes.

Foxtail millet is annual grasses with grains that are smaller than those of sorghum, rice, and wheat, and is considered one of the minor economic crops but with nutritional values similar to other major food crops. The development of millet as major cereal crop is considered challenging due to the low quality of its seeds, and studies have been conducted to improve millet’s seed quality. We conducted this study to determine the harvesting criteria of foxtail millet seeds based on the change in color of the panicles. We also wanted to determine the drying treatment, and evaluate the relationship between the position of the seed on the panicles and the seed viability and vigor. The first experiment was arranged based on a completely randomized design with panicle color as the first factor (green, yellow 75%, and brown) and drying time as the second factor (0 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours). The second experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with seed position as the main factor (base, middle, tip). The study was conducted on two genotypes of millet, i.e. “BOTOK 4” and “BOTOK 10”. The highest seed quality of “BOTOK 4” and “BOTOK 10” genotypes were obtained when the panicles were brown and dried for 72 hours; the seed chlorophyll content was the lowest and water content was 8.88%, with the highest viability and vigor, i.e., germination rate of 88.3%-90%, maximum growth potential of 92%-95.3%, normal sprout dry weight 596-620 mg, vigor index of 33.6% - 21.6%, and growth rate of 18.2%-17.1% etmal-1. The highest seed viability and vigor in “BOTOK 4” genotypes were obtained from the base position, i.e., 78.7% germination rate, maximum growth potential of 83.7%, vigor index of 56.5%, growth speed of 19.6 etmal-1, normal sprout dry weight of 48 mg, radicle length of 3.3 cm) and “BOTOK 10” genotypes from the middle position with 91.5% germination, maximum growth potential of 97.2%, vigor index  of 21.7%, growth speed of 17.0% etmal-1, and normal sprout dry weight 61 mg.

The aim of this study was to obtain the best temperature on several genotypes so as to increase the best viability and vigour of cauliflower seeds in the lowlands. The research was conducted at the Laboratory Agronomy, OPT and Soil Biotechnology Faculty of Agriculture, Singaperbangsa Karawang University. The research method used was an experimental method with a two-factor completely randomized design (CRD). The first factor is temperature which consists of room temperature without air conditioning (P0), air-conditioned room temperature (P1) and refrigerator temperature (P2). The second factor is genotypes consisting of Viola (B1), Tegar 45 (B2), Snow Waltz (B3), Jayanti (B4), Giga (B5), Snow White (B6), Diamond (B7), Orient (B8). , Roo So 45 (B9), Forum (B10), Bima (B11), F1 Hybrid (B12) and Arjuna (B13). Each treatment was repeated 2 times so that 78 experiments were obtained and 2 times planting (before and after storage). The results of the pre-storage experiment showed that there was no interaction between temperature treatment and several genotypes, but in the post-storage experiment, there were an interaction with the parameters of germination, concurrency of growth, vigor index and maximum growth potential, while for parameters of moisture content, normal germinated dry weight and length of sprouts. indicates there is no interaction. The best treatment was room temperature without AC genotype Roo So 45 (P0B9). Keywords: Cabbage flower, genotype, temperature, , viability, vigour.

Penelitian ini dilaksanakaan di Laboratorium Ilmu dan Teknologi Benih Jurusan Agroteknologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh dari bulan April sampai Juni 2018. Unit-unit penelitian disusun berdasarkan Rancangan Acak Lengkap pola faktorial 5x3 dengan 3 ulangan dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Jujur taraf 5% pada hasil uji F yang signifikan. Faktor pertama adalah konsentrasi ekstrak bawang merah dengan 5 taraf yaitu 0, 25, 50, 75 dan 100%, sedangkan faktor kedua adalah lama perendaman dengan 3 taraf yaitu 12, 24 dan 36 jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi ekstrak bawang merah terbaik terdapat pada konsentrasi ekstrak bawang merah 25%. Lama perendaman tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tolok ukur pertumbuhan bibit. Tidak terjadi interaksi yang nyata antara konsentrasi ekstrak bawang merah dan lama perendaman terhadap tolok ukur pertumbuhan bibit.Invigoration of Expired Tomato Seeds with Onion Extract at Various Concentrations and Soaking DurationsAbstract. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of onion concentration and soaking duration and interaction between them on the expired tomato seed viability. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Science and Technology Department of Agrotechnology Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh from April to June 2018. Treatment units were arranged according to Factorial Completely Randomized Design 5x3 in 3 replications, and the significant data than continued analized by Honestly Significant Different. The first factor was the concentrations of extract onion i.e 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%, and the second factor was durations of soaking i.e 12, 24 and 36 hours. The result showed the best concentration for invigoration was 25% of onion extract. Soaking duration does not have a significant effect on seedling growth. There is no significant interaction between the concentration of onion extract and soaking duration on seedling growth.

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh bahan invigorasi dan lama perendaman serta interaksi keduanya terhadap viabilitas benih padi kadaluarsa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakaan di Laboratorium Ilmu dan Teknologi Benih Jurusan Agroteknologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh dari bulan Juli sampai bulan Agustus 2018. Unit-unit penelitian disusun berdasarkan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial 4x3 dengan 3 ulangan dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ) taraf 5% pada hasil uji F yang signifikan. Faktor pertama adalah bahan invigorasi dengan 4 jenis bahan yaitu Aquades, PEG, KNO3, dan Air kelapa. Faktor kedua adalah lama perendaman dengan 3 taraf yaitu 12, 24 dan 48 jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahan invigorasi terbaik terdapat pada bahan invigorasi menggunakan PEG. Lama perendaman tidak berpengaruh terhadap viabilitas benih padi kadaluarsa. Kombinasi perlakuan terbaik antara bahan invigorasi dan lama perendaman untuk invigorasi benih padi kadaluarsa pada penelitian ini terdapat pada bahan invigorasi menggunakan PEG dan lama perendaman 24 jam.The Effect of Invigorating Material and Soaking Periods on Expired Rice Seeds (Oryza sativa L.) againts Viability and Vigor SeedsAbstract. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of invigoration technique and soaking duration and interaction between them on the expired rice seed viability. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Science and Technology Department of Agrotechnology Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh from July to August 2018. Treatment units were arranged in Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) 4x3 in 3 replications, and the significant data was continued analized by Honestly Significant Different (HSD). The first factor was the invigoration technique that used 4 substance i.e Aquades, PEG, KNO3, and coconut water. While the second factor was duration of soaking i.e 12, 24 and 48 hours. The result showed the best concentration for invigoration was one used PEG, while the duration for soaking was not effect on invigoration. The best combination for invigoration of expired rice seeds on this research was PEG and 24 hours of soaking duration.

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Efektivitas Invigorasi Benih Cabai (Capsicum annuum L.) Kadaluarsa Menggunakan Rizobakteri Pemacu Pertumbuhan Tanaman. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Ilmu dan Teknologi Benih Program Studi Agroteknologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala Darussalam Banda Aceh. Penelitian dilaksanakan mulai pada bulan Januari 2020. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial 2X9 dengan dua faktor yang diteliti. Faktor pertama varietas (V) yang terdiri dari 2 taraf yaitu: V1 (Lado F1) dan V2 (Krida F1). Faktor kedua jenis Rizobakteri (R) yang terdiri dari 9 taraf yaitu R0 : Kontrol, R1 : Bacillus larvae, R2 : Pseudomonas capasia, R3 : Azotobacter sp. R4 : Acitinobacillus suis, R5 : Bacillus polymixa, R6 : Bacillus megaterium, R7 : Bacillus stearothermophillus, R8 : Bacillus lichiniformis. Dengan demikian terdapat 18 kombinasi perlakuan. Masing - masing kombinasi perlakuan diulang sebanyak tiga kali, dengan demikian terdapat 54 satuan percobaan. Peubah yang diamati adalah potensi tumbuh (%), daya berkecambah (%), keserampakan tumbuh (%), indeks vigor (%), kecepatan tumbuh relatif (%) dan T50 (%). Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa interaksi antara rizobakteri jenis Azotobacter dengan varietas Lado F1 efektif dalam meningkatkan potensi tumbuh maksimum dan daya berkecambah. Interaksi antara rizobakteri jenis Bacillus polymixa dengan varietas Krida F1 efektif dalam meningkatkan potensi tumbuh maksimum dan daya berkecamabah.The Effectiveness of Invigorating Chili Seeds (Capsicum annuum L.) Expired Using Rhizobacteria Booster Plant GrowthAbstract. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Invigoration of Expired Chilli (Capsicum Annum L.) Seeds Using Plant Growth Booster Rizobacteria. This research was carried out in the Seed Science and Technology Laboratory of the Department of Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh. The study was conducted starting in January 2020. In this study used a 2X9 factorial Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors examined. The first factor is variety (V) which consists of 2 levels, namely: V1 (Lado F1) and V2 (Krida F1). The second factor is the type of Rizobacteria (R) which consists of 9 levels, namely R0 : Control, R1 : Bacillus larvae, R2 : Pseudomonas capasia, R3 : Azotobacter sp, R4 : Acitinobacillus suis, R5 : Bacillus polymixa, R6: Bacillus megaterium, R7: Bacillus stearotherinoph, R8 : Bacillus lichiniformis. Thus there are 18 treatment combinations. Each treatment combination was repeated three times, thus there were 54 experimental units. The observed variables were growth potential (%), germination (%), growth uniformity (%), vigor index (%), relative growth speed (%), and T50 (%). The results of the research showed that the interaction between Azotobacter rizobacteria and Lado F1 varieties was effective in increasing maximum growth potential and germination. The interaction between Bacillus polymixa rizobacteria and Krida F1 variety is effective in increasing the maximum growth potential and the ability to contaminate

Soybeans undergo rapid deterioration due to its chemical composition and unfavourable storage conditions. The objective of the research was to determine the length period of seed hidration and dehydration which is integrated with rhizobateri to viability and vigor of deteriorated soybean seed.  A completely randomized design with four replicates were used in this experiment. Seeds were treated with varied combination of hydration period in a rhizobacteria suspension and followed by dehydration time.  Data were analysed using the F-test and significant differences were further tested with Least Significant Difference at the 5% level. Results showed that the hydration and dehydration period of seeds in a rhizobacteria suspension improved viability and vigor of seed which have 59.5% initial germination percentage. The improvement was 12.28%, 0.56, 25.4% and 1.4 days for standard germination test, vigor index, first count test percentage and T50, respectively. The hydration for 60 minutes followed by dehydration for 60 minutes gave the best results on seed viability and vigor.

<p>ABSTRAK<br />Permasalahan dalam pengembangan tembakau rakyat adalah daya<br />berkecambah benih yang rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk<br />mengetahui pengaruh perendaman benih terhadap daya berkecambah<br />benih tembakau (Nicotiana tabacum L.). Penelitian dilaksanakan di<br />laboratorium Balai Penelitian Tanaman Pemanis dan Serat pada bulan Mei<br />sampai dengan Juli 2013. Perlakuan disusun dalam rancangan petak<br />terbagi dan diulang empat kali. Sebagai petak utama adalah tujuh varietas<br />tembakau lokal, yaitu V1 = Kemloko1; V2 = Kemloko2; V3 = Kemloko3;<br />V4 = Kasturi1; V5 = Kasturi2; V6 = Grompol Jatim1; dan V7 =<br />Bojonegoro1. Sebagai anak petak adalah: R1 = Tanpa perendaman<br />(kontrol); R2 = perendaman selama satu jam dalam air; R3 = perendaman<br />selama satu jam dalam larutan KNO 3  (0,1%), dan R4 = perendaman<br />selama satu jam dalam larutan KNO 3 (0,2%). Setelah perlakuan<br />perendaman, benih tembakau dikecambahkan menggunakan metode Uji di<br />Atas Kertas. Pada setiap ulangan, sebanyak 100 benih tembakau<br />dikecambahkan pada media kertas merang yang diletakkan di dalam<br />petridish berdiameter 9 cm. Perkecambahan dilakukan di dalam<br />germinator tipe IPB dengan suhu 23 o C dan kelembaban nisbi 87-93%.<br />Parameter yang diamati adalah daya berkecambah, panjang kecambah,<br />panjang akar kecambah, dan indeks vigor kecambah. Perendaman benih<br />tembakau menggunakan air, larutan KNO 3 0,1% dan larutan KNO 3 0,2%<br />selama satu jam sebelum benih disemaikan, dapat meningkatkan daya<br />berkecambah dan panjang kecambah varietas Kemloko1 dan Grompol<br />Jatim1. Perlakuan perendaman benih dengan air berpengaruh positif pada<br />varietas Kemloko1 yang ditunjukkan dengan daya berkecambah tertinggi,<br />sedangkan perendaman dengan larutan KNO 3 0,2% berpengaruh negatif<br />pada varietas Bojonegoro1 yang ditunjukkan dengan daya berkecambah<br />paling rendah. Perlakuan perendaman dengan air maupun larutan KNO 3<br />(0,1% dan 0,2%) menunjukkan pengaruh yang berbeda-beda terhadap<br />parameter daya berkecambah, panjang kecambah, panjang akar kecambah,<br />dan indeks vigor kecambah pada semua varietas tembakau yang diuji.<br />Kata kunci: Nicotiana tabacum L., perendaman, KNO 3 , viabilitas benih</p><p>ABSTRACT<br />Low germinability of seeds is one of major problems in tobacco<br />development. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of priming<br />on tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) seed viability. The research was<br />conducted in the laboratory of the Indonesian Sweeteners and Fiber Crops<br />Research Institute during May to July 2013. The treatments were arranged<br />in a split plot design with four times of replication. The main plots were<br />seven tobacco varieties namely V1 = Kemloko1; V2 = Kemloko2; V3 =<br />Kemloko3; V4 = Kasturi1; V5 = Kasturi2; V6 = Grompol Jatim1; and V7<br />= Bojonegoro1. The subplots were priming seeds for one hour namely R1<br />= without priming (control); R2 = priming for one hour on water; R3 =<br />priming for one hour on KNO 3  (0,1%) solution, and R4 = priming for one<br />hour on KNO 3 (0,2%) solution. After priming, seeds were germinated using<br />the Upper Paper Test method. A hundred of seeds were sown on straw<br />paper media in a petridish diameter 9 cm of each replication. Parameters<br />measured were germination percentage, shoot and root length, and<br />seedling vigor index. Priming tobacco seed with water or KNO 3  (0.1 and<br />0.2%) solution for one hour before seeds were germinated significantly<br />improved germination percentage and shoot length of Kemloko1 and<br />Grompol Jatim1 varieties. Priming tobacco seed with water had positive<br />effect on Kemloko1 variety which resulted the highest germination<br />percentage but had adversely effect on Bojonegoro1 variety which resulted<br />the lowest germination percentage. Priming tobacco seeds with water or<br />KNO 3 (0.1 and 0.2%) solution resulted different effect on germination<br />percentage, shoot and root length, and seedling vigor index parameters for<br />all tobacco varieties were observed.<br />Key words: Nicotiana tabacum L., priming, KNO 3 , seed viability</p>

This study was aimed to determine the viability rate of rosella seed, to obtain the best result of seed testing for enhancing rosella seed viability, to find the best seed invigoration method for enhancing rosella seed viability, to obtain staining pattern through tetrazolium test of rosella seed, and to determine viability and vigor of rosella seed to be further used as estimation indicator for rosella plant growth in the field. The study was conducted in the Seed Laboratory, Indonesian Sweetener and Fiber Crops Research Institute (ISFCRI), Malang, East Java during July - August 2018. The material used included accessions of rosella seed (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) ACC. 1148 from the year 2015 and collection of ISFCRI, 100 ml of Tetrazolium solution (40 ml KH2PO4, 60 ml Na2HPO4 and 1 gr of Tetrazolium powder). This research applied Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisted of seed treatments of control (no immersion/0 hour), immersion for 5 hours, immersion for 10 hours, and scarification, each with 4 replications. Result of this study showed that the use of tetrazolium salt was found to be better in enhancing the viability of rosella seeds. Viable seeds was found to have bright red embryonic axis and bright red cotyledon. Testing using paper media on several seed invigoration treatments resulted in significantly different effect on parameters of vigor index, germination capacity, and dry weight of normal seedling. The best parameter of germination capacity and dry weight of normal seedling was obtained by treatment immersed in water at temperature of 27°C for 10 hours
