The role of coastal communities in the preservation of coral reefs is an important thing to supporting the sustainable management of coastal areas. This article is objected to determine the coastal communities’ role in the management of coral reefs in water conservation areas and the level of knowledge of the coastal communities about the importance of protecting coastal ecosystems. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires, direct interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and the results were elaborated based on descriptive analysis. The results showed that the community had begun to realize how important it is to protect coral reefs for the sustainability of fisheries and other benefits of coral reefs. Healthy reefs provide many benefits to people including improving the economy of the community and increasing tourists. Community awareness is shown by their participation in activities that lead to the conservation and management of coral reefs such as transplantation of coral reefs, beach cleaning, banner making, tree planting and provision of trash bins along the coast. Those who knew the benefits and functions of coral reefs both for increasing fish populations, increasing tourists and improving the economy of the community, as well as other benefits of coral reefs for the coastal areas, was 74.5%. The role of community in the aspects of coastal and marine ecosystems management was high, as many as 72% of the community participate in every coastal and marine ecosystem management activity carried out by the government and local NGOs.

This research aims to identify of coastal communities chartered economic potency, explore the human resources potency of coastal communities, investigate the role of coastal communities chartered economic institution, and knowing both of the socio-economic condition and infrastructure support for the economic development of coastal areas in Serdang Bedagai Regency. This research was done in Pantai Sialang Buah Desa Teluk Mengkudu, Serdang Bedagai Regency. respondents took by random sampling method. Data analysis method of this research was applied descriptive analysis. The result of this research shows that communities economics potency at coastal area quite prospective. The social economic condition of communities at coastal area relatively still very lag, although the economic sector is very potential to be developed like fishery sector, cultivation of seagrass, beach tourism, field crop and breeding sector. The role of the government and the private sector in developing the potential of coastal communities is not sufficient, especially in the field of infrastructure.

Community-based adaptation (CBA) is a new approach that is attractive because it is a process of planning led by the community, based on community priorities, needs, knowledge and capacity - a process that should empower people to plan for climate change impacts (Hordijk and baud, 2010). Governance at the community level regarded to be a way to help them in adapting and maintain their livelihood on the coastal so that they can remain in the region. Governance in community engaged individual communities to group and jointly manages their livelihoods and conservation in their coastal areas. The intervention of the government and non-government organizations also play a role in the process of adaptation that occurs. This paper aim to elaborate the role of local champion in CBA process. Interesting findings from Tapak Village, Semarang who have done their community-based adaptation process is that the involvement of the community in the adaptation to climate change is greatly influenced by the presence of local champion in the region. The existence of networks between community and the relevant stakeholders in both the government and non-government organizations also became one of the supporting factors for the sustainability of community-based adaptation processes in coastal areas of Semarang City.

With so many coastal areas in Indonesia, it can provide a lot of potential that can be exploited such as the potential for fisheries, marine, agriculture, energy and tourism. One of the potentials that are in great demand by people is tourism. The potential for coastal tourism will have a beneficial impact on both the government and local communities living around the coastal areas if it can be managed properly. This study aims to determine the basis for determining Gili Iyang as a health tourism destination. To find out the role of the local village head in making Gili Iyang a health tourism destination. To find out the opinions of tourists who have visited Gili Iyang. To determine the role of oxygen levels in the human body. And the results of the research. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the development of the island of Gili Iyang as tourists is still not fully able to run smoothly, because there are still several supports that need to be maximized. For example, there is a study on health on Gili Iyang Island so that later this island will be known for its health tourism. In addition, it would be better if you add several places to attract tourists visiting the island.

The author undertakes a literature review of attitudes to water usage in Jordan. One survey was identified which assessed attitudes towards water conservation, sampling 2000 residents in three regions in Jordan (Irbid, Amman, and Zarqa) in 2017. According to the survey, only 61% of respondents believed there was a water shortage in Jordan. 23% believed the water shortage was due to population pressures. The survey focussed more on water conservation than water use. Most of the respondents felt the government were not doing enough on water shortage issues. They were not asked how they feel about the role of the government versus their individual responsibility. Older respondents perceived the shortages to be more critical. A lack of interest in participating in water saving activities was identified among the youth. Water quality was perceived as poor in the USAID survey and noted in other sources. The survey found that most residents had management strategies in place for the day that the water was delivered. Views about politics of regional cooperation and refugee pressure on water use potentially affect attitudes to water but this was not identified specifically within the scope of this report.

The availability of world freshwater that can be used by humans is very small in number compared with many people's estimates, especially for those living in regions with abundant of water. Water conservation should be done according to Islamic advice, then considering other users' water needs, maintaining water quality, saving energy, and considering increasing water demand as per population growth. Prior to the scarcity and water damage, water conservation needs to be done in non-domestic and domestic / household levels. Household water conservation can be done through behavioural change and technological change. This study focuses on changes in household behavior in water conservation related to the role of women. A qualitative approach is applied in this study by conducting interviews with resource persons who play a significant role in environmental issues and some are housewives. The results show that household water conservation can be done in simple and easy ways, for example by monitoring water use by children, choosing water-saving ways of gardening, washing clothes at once, and so on. The role of women in household water conservation is significant because women are the main users of water and women can educate children early on. The government is expected to arrange strategies to promote water conservation on a household scale by educating and disseminating it to women's associations at the village level. Keywords :

ABSTRACTSince 1990 Pangandaran has developed into one of the main tourism destination in West Java which focuses its development on Marine Ecotourism. The development drawn high number of tourists and impacted the condition of the marine ecosystems. The coral reefs were slowly being damaged by tourists activities, plastics waste and pollution, thus the clarity of the water was degraded. This Program was conducted to analyze the level of damage to coral reefs and community preparedness in cultivating coral reefs, as well as providing training to the community so that the model of transplantion would be generated. The subjects of this training were fishermen communities in Pananjung Subdistrict. The training was delivered in the stages of: 1) identification of the condition of coral reefs in the Nature Reserve Waters; 2) analysis of community readiness and ability in developing coral reef cultivation, and 3) training in coral reef cultivation for the community. The target of this activity is to improve the quality of the aquatic environment and increase the knowledge of local communities through training in coral reef cultivation. Whenever the transplantation is ready, the local community will be able to develop an independent tourism business, based on water conservation, and improve the economy of the community, thus helping the government in realizing a sustainable marine tourism. Keywords: Coral Reef Transplantation, Ecotourism, Marine tourism.

This research illustrates the extent of correlation between the local economy and marine ecosystem services. Apart from being recreational destinations oriented to the economy, Tulamben and Pemuteran are places where coral reefs ecosystem grows and develops. Hence, it needs to be properly conserved. This study found the estimated number of tourists who dive and snorkel in these two areas, it reaches 297.752 per year, with actual annual expenditures amount to US$ 283.2 million. The economic impact of the whole diving tourism in Tulamben and Pemuteran approximately ranges from US$ 396.4 million to US$ 1.059.7 million per year. The high economic value achieved by the government and the local communities as a whole indicates a significant increase of diving activities in both areas. This result suggests that local economy and marine ecosystem services are closely related. However, tourism and the perception aroused about the environmental issues and values not only provide opportunities for macro business improvement but also pose a threat to the sustainability of the underwater ecosystem.

Abstract The National Adaptation Framework aims to reduce Ireland’s vulnerability to climate change by establishing climate adaptation considerations as a priority at local, regional and national level. With coastal areas and habitats particularly susceptible to negative climate change effects, it is necessary to build resilience in these areas by devising coastal adaptation responses in collaboration with coastal communities. Policies and structures have also been put in place to create an enabling environment which facilitates community participation. However, the extent of community engagement and its current role in formulating and implementing coastal adaptation responses are unclear. This paper assesses the effectiveness of the enabling environment in encouraging community-led coastal adaptation solutions by identifying community and voluntary groups who are actively engaging with stakeholders at all levels of governance in key adaptation tasks. The findings reveal that the policies and structures for enhanced local participation in coastal adaptation responses are in place, but as only a small number of communities are actively engaging in coastal adaptation solutions, further progress in their implementation is needed.

The pendulum of the development at the global level moves to the extent of collaborative work between government, society and third parties. Today, in Indonesia a collaboration model is also implemented with the aim of presenting long-standing welfare in coastal areas. The poverty that surrounds coastal communities is an anomaly in the midst of the abundance of wealth stored in the sea of Indonesia. The Regional Government of Tangerang Regency encourages to collaborate with external parties to resolve the troubles. This article tries to use the modified Triple-Helix model as an analytical framework, which is useful for knowing the role of actors involved in creating development innovation. This study uses qualitative methods to see and find out how political, social, and academic actors interact and integrate into overcoming public problems that arise from the perspective of collaborative governance. The findings of the study found, first, collaborative work is useful to improve governance, second, to provide opportunities for actors to find effective solutions, and thirdly, to increase trust between government and citizens. This article argues that the success of collaborative work depends on the synergy between actors and the extent to which each program can demonstrate its sustainability.
