The Indonesian Language Proficiency Test (UKBI) is one of the Indonesian language proficiency tests that aims to measure written and oral proficiency, both by spoken and foreign speech. In its development, UKBI developed into an adaptive UKBI which can display different levels of question difficulty for each examiner, so that UKBI has a variety of questions that are not the same between participants and a different number of questions. The method used in this research is a simple qualitative and quantitative descriptive method with primary data obtained through survey results. The results in this study were that of the 51 participants who took part in the activity, 30 of them took part in the UKBI simulation activity with the lowest UKBI simulation score being 60 and the highest being 100. After attending the language clinic, the participants who were very interested in taking the UKBI test visited 15 people, interested in participating in the UKBI test. opened 16 people, and less interested in opening 2 people or 92%.

The growing importance of English competence in various industries is one of the pull factors of the increasing need of English Language Proficiency (ELP) for university graduates. One of the ways to motivate students’ English competence is to set English language proficiency as graduation benchmark. This study aims to describe students’ perspectives on such policy and how it affects the students’ learning. A descriptive qualitative research is employed. A questionnaire is used to gain the primary data. The research participants are students of Trisakti School of tourism who has experienced such policy. The questionnaires comprise of two parts: demographic data and questions of students’ perceptions on various aspects on the usage of English language proficiency tests. Students’ perception on various campus program to improve English competence is also asked.  The results reveal that students are familiar with the international standardized tests such as TOEIC, TOEFL and IELTS and they do make various preparation for the tests. As much as 60% of the respondents agree with the campus policy to set TOEIC and TOEFL score for graduation requirements. As for students’ perception on campus program, the results reveal that awarding scholarship for the top achiever students and live in program in English speaking program are considered to be the most effective program. The least effective programs are class grouping based on test score. The results can be of a valuable source for policy makers in the institution to develop a more effective program ti improve the students’  English competence.

This study aimed to analyze the literacy competencies of students' language proficiency in the aspects of listening, responding to the rules, reading and writing. Literacy competence is a competency that must be considered by educators in honing language proficiency which is an important issue, especially in the development of language skills in students. This research used a quantitative-descriptive method. The data obtained from this study were the results of the Indonesian language proficiency test (UKBI) of students in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education study program. The population used in this study were students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education study program, while the sample who had taken the UKBI test was 24 students. The results of this study indicated that the students' language proficiency literacy competence in the listening aspect obtains an average of 538, responds to the average rule of 464, reads an average of 519, and writes an average of 596. The overall average of language proficiency literacy competencies was 529. Twenty-five was in the middle-ranking, indicating that students have adequate proficiency in communicating using Indonesian, both oral and written. With these skills, the student concerned can understand factual information, properly capture and re-reveal information.

The purpose of the research was to determine the effect of Islamic advertising on purchasing decision for Clean and Fresh Sunsilk Hijab Shampoo. The subject of this research was students of Riau Islamic University. While the object of this study was the effect of Islamic advertising on purchasing decision for Clean and Fresh Sunsilk Hijab Shampoo. The data sources used in this study were primary data and secondary data. The sampling technique used was proportional stratified random sampling, while the data collection technique used was a questionnaire. To analyze the data, quantitative descriptive method was used. In analyzing quantitative data, simple linear regression analysis was used where the calculation process used SPSS for windows version 23. The sample of this study was 96 people. The result of the research showed Islamic advertising on purchasing decision for Clean and Fresh Sunsilk Hijab Shampoo had a strong or high relationship, this was related to the correlation coeffisien which was 0.763. The result of the research, the result of partial test related to the significant influence between Islamic advertising on purchasing decisions for Clean and Fresh Sunsilk Hijab Shampoo, it was known from  the value of tcount (11.452) which was bigger than t table (1.661). Conclusion, there was a significant effect between Islamic advertising on purchasing decisions for clean and fresh sunsilk hijab Shampoo to students of  Riau Islamic University Keywords: Islamic Advertising, Purchasing Decision

Increased sales of Dewi Sri (a brand of Balinese Rice Wine Product) at PT Hatten Bali based on Segmenting Targeting and Positioning Strategies in Bali The era of globalization results in increased business competition thus causing fluctuations in sales of products of Balinese rice wine of Dewi Sri that already experienced by PT Hatten Bali. The strategies that should be reinforced in the face of intense competition, the company should apply the strategies of segmenting, targeting and positioning. The study aimed to identify and categorize groups of buyers based on their characteristics, to select one segment of the potential market to enter, and to establish and to communicate the main benefits that differentiate the company's products with other products in the market. The research applies quantitative descriptive method by approaches of cluster analysis, crosstab, Multi Dimensional Scaling, and Correspondence Analysis which used primary data of 135 respondents. The research showed that the potential segment as target market of Balinese rice wine products of Dewi Sri which will be produced by PT Hatten Bali was the segment 1 by the segment percentage size of 63,0% compared to segment 2 (14,8%) and segment 3 (22,2%). Balinese rice wine product positioning has the advantage on product diversification and promotion attributes that differentiate it from its competitors (Eagle, Gwan Gwan Hoo, and Rice Bird) based on consumer perceptions. Therefore, PT Hatten Bali needs to create a unique product feature that is expected to increase sales of Balinese rice wine products of Dewi Sri.

Researchers have used different measures to examine participants’ second-language (L2) proficiency, yet it remains unclear how these different measures influence research results on the effect of L2 proficiency on the target variable. The present research explored the modulation effect of four different measures of L2 Chinese proficiency on Chinese phonological awareness (PA). Eighty-four L2 learners of Chinese who spoke English or Arabic as their first language completed four different measures of Chinese proficiency: a self-report measure of years of instruction in Chinese, a simplified Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK; a standardized Chinese language proficiency test), a reading comprehension test, and a Chinese character recognition test. The overall results of t tests and multiple regression analysis revealed that different measures of L2 proficiency led to various findings on the effect of L2 proficiency on Chinese PA. Compared with the other three measures, the HSK, a comprehensive examination of L2 Chinese proficiency, yielded the most consistent and reliable results with the largest effect size. Our findings contribute to the current understanding of L2 proficiency measures and to future efforts for the improvement of L2 proficiency tests for research purposes.

Abstract This article presents axsd discusses a number of empirical findings conœroing the validity of multiple-choice cloze tests as tests of general language proficiency. Foreign students of Dutch at Delft University of Technology were given both a series of separate proficiency tests in nstemng, speaking, reading, writing and text comprehension, and a series of multiple-choice cloze tests. Scores on the multiple-choice cloze tests were found to correlate significantly with each of the proficiency tests. In addition, scores made on the multiple-choice cloze tests appeared to form a solid basis for predictions of the total scores for listening, speaking, reading and writing taken together. Finally, a close structural similarity was found to exist between curves of average scores on successive multiple-choice cloze tests and the presupposed growth of vocabulary during the language learning process. Together, these findings tend to show that multiple-choice cloze tests constitute a valid instrument for measuring general language proficiency.

This study aims to test whether there is an effect of the implementation of Government Regulation no. 23 of 2018 of taxpayer compliance for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. This research method using quantitative descriptive method and primary data using a questionnaire. This study took a sample of 37 respondents taxpayer compliance for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises at the Ruteng Pratama Tax Office, Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara. The sampling technique was using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires in the form of google. The results showed that the implementation of PP 23 2018 has a positive effect on tax compliance of micro, small and medium enterprises.

Mexican-American third and fourth graders (n = 162) were administered a language proficiency test (Moreno Test of Oral Proficiency) and vocabulary test (Peabody Picture Vocabulary) in English and Spanish on two occasions. Males scored significantly higher on Spanish proficiency contrary to general research findings. The sample was further divided into high and low Spanish-ability groups and analyzed with parallel results. However, female scores on Spanish proficiency were even lower for the high group than the low. A cultural inhibition hypothesis was proposed based, in part, on Maccoby's integrative hypothesis to account for these results.

ENGLISHProcessed form of marine fisheries that quite popular in Pati regency is boiled fish. The medium and large scale boiled fish industry can accelerate the growth of fishery and marine sector. The purpose of study is to formulate alternative strategies for developing medium and large scale boiled fish industries in Pati regency. The research used quantitative descriptive method and was condusted in March 2014. Primary data were obtained through interview with medium and large scale boiled fish employers, while secondary data were derived from relevant documents from marine and fisheries agency of Pati regency. Respondents were chosen using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using SWOT and QSPM. Results of the research showed that the first priority strategy was improving the performance of association of boiled fish employers so it can be made a common agreement on the business management system and the boiled fish industry standard marketable products, with TAS value 4.948. INDONESIABentuk olahan hasil perikanan laut yang cukup populer di Kabupaten Pati adalah ikan pindang. Industri ikan pindang skala sedang dan besar dapat mempercepat pertumbuhan ekonomi dari sektor perikanan dan kelautan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk merumuskan alternatif strategi untuk pengembangan industri ikan pindang skala sedang dan besar di Kabupaten Pati. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dan dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret 2014. Sumber data primer yang diperoleh melalui wawancara dengan pengusaha pemindangan ikan skala sedang dan besar. Sedangkan data sekunder berasal dari dokumen relevan Dislautkan Kab. Pati. Metode pemilihan sampel responden dengan pendekatan purposive sampling. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis SWOT dan untuk menentukan prioritas strategi menggunakan analisis QSPM. Hasil penelitian yaitu prioritas strategi pertama adalah peningkatan kinerja wadah perhimpunan pengusaha ikan pindang sehingga dapat dibuat kesepakatan bersama tentang sistem manajemen usaha industri ikan pindang dan standar produk yang layak jual, dengan nilai TAS 4,948.

The article deals with the results of research of sociolinguistic factors’ effect on English phrasal accentuation in the reading authentic English material by Mexican subjects. It features a survey data analysis of the characteristics of the Mexican testees with different levels of English language proficiency. The survey has supplied information about their age at the beginning period of English learning process and its conditions, intensity of its usage at present and subjects’ attitude to the necessity of English phonetics acquisition. The current paper introduces some results of phonetic experiment aimed at revealing Mexican subjects’ ability to intone English speech, namely to choose nucleus in the English utterance. Mexican students’ linguistic competence is proved to be the crucial factor responsible for the correctness in identifying nucleus location. The results presented can be used to contribute to the effectiveness of the English and Spanish as a foreign language teaching as well as for improvement of survey construction in sociolinguistic studies.
