Psychology is the study of human behavior in its observable and unobservabledimensions. It is important to study psychology in order to understandhuman actions and their relations to various aspects of human life. From an Islamic standpoint, human behavior is distinctive from otheranimate and inanimate beings, because it is based on a conscious responseto divine commandments. Human behavior in this sense is subject of revelation.Revelation addresses humans to behave intentionally towards therealization of Allah’s commandments in their lives. Revelation, humanbehavior and human life are the three main components of the religiousphenomenon which is an intrinsic reality in human psyche and social realityof all nations in human history.Psychology is an old science. It is a response to Man’s existential anxietywhich is as old as human consciousness. Man has been indulging in psychologicalanalysis since he started trying to understand himself, his behavior, his emotions, his thinking and learning process, etc. In the West, psychologywas a part of philosophy. But since the early twentieth centurywhen it became the last field to breakaway from philosophy, it has becomea separate discipline, enjoying the status of science. In the Islamic historyof knowledge, education of the self and of others was based on well developedpsychological principles such as motivation (internal and external),gradual change, and individual differences. The study of human behaviorwas also the subject of many Muslim scholars in their attempts to elevatethe personality of individual Muslims from Islam to Iman and to Ihsan; andto avoid the various sicknesses of the heart. This subject was also of a majorconcern to the Sufis. Al Ghazali for example developed the science ofbehavior “Ilm al-Suluk”. His book Al-Ihia has long chapters on variouspsychological phenomena using a systematic methodology. A1 Ghazaliwould typically choose a particular psychological problem, study it,describe it, analyze it, compare it with other problems, advance a diagnosisand then prescribe ways to deal with the problem ...

In this work the author holds the thesis that with Maquiavelo, in accordance with Tucidides, the complete humanization of history and human life arose. Man has become the complete owner of his destiny when conquering fortune by virtù, that is, the entirety of social forces, concrete or diffuse, that oppose to the exercise of his will. It is only nature that remains as a region still inaccessible to human will. This is the reason why in Maquiavelo the concepts which should organize the explanation of human behavior are not, as considered until now, virtù/fortune but virtù/nature. Even though, there are two antagonic limits to the emancipatory virtuos action: on the one hand, its still nondemocratic condition, since only the Prince is capable of such virtù. On the other, the political liberty, something that in principle appears external to the subject, but once known he won´t forget ever, that is, political liberty becomes a constitutive feature of the human being at which every virtuos action of the Prince directed to extirpate it, fails.

The article has a double task, considering the content of Mira Marcinуw’s book, which is important in two controversial topics: madness and its conditions on Poland and its societal psyche, in particular the specifics of Polish melancholy. The author’s views on the status of melancholy in culture and its unique position in public life are presented. The question is: does the melancholic doubt his life? A fairly justified hypothesis would be that the melancholic sees himself as a dead rather than a living body. The significance of the quoted book is that it raises troubling questions but doesn’t give easy answers. First of all, it becomes obvious an unclear – how to develop the epistemological history of melancholy, which is understood as a scientific idea that seeks coherence and adequacy of the medicine language while the political history of melancholy is interpreted as a symptom of this sociocultural context, in this case in relation to Poland. Science in this case creates or selects concepts, although it always systematizes them in a certain place and time. Secondly, it is not clear today how to distinguish the language of melancholy itself, which is the language element of the emergency state, from the language of medicine, which is a means of describing a certain medical disorder. Medicine to a greater extent than we might think refers to normality than to the problematic concept of health. Medicine, while managing human life, adopts a normative attitude, which does not amount to providing advice on how to live wisely, but allows to influence the physical and moral relations of citizens that connect them with society. Thirdly, it is argued that the very concept of melancholy remains dynamic and changeable. The proposed “erotic constellation of melancholy” shows that the subject of melancholy loses the ability to find new objects of love. This incapacity simultaneously leads a person to open nihilism, which is not only the “nothingness of the will” and the usual “will of nothingness”, but also the discovery of the nothingness of knowledge and the futility of the cognition process. The inability to find items worth loving is due to the difficulty of finding items worth the effort to know. Thus, the causes of melancholy go beyond the trivial case of loss and cover all resentments, rejections, failures, disappointments, including despair in the process of cognition. Melancholy brings the subject to ruin, so it is the limit of all medical knowledge, stating that there is no secret of «disorder» in clinical cognition, that there is no secret of madness, and that there is nothing but the study of madness itself. It turns out that madness is recognition of nothingness of the world.

In preaching, there are important things which are also factors of success or failure of preaching, namely motivation. Motivation is important and the subject of everything. In motivation, it contains three main components, namely moving, directing and supporting human behavior. In other words, motivation directs individual behavior towards a goal to maintain and support the behavior, while the environment must strengthen the intensity and direction of individual encouragement.

The article provides a comparative analysis of the influence of L.N. Tolstoy and I.I. Sergiev (John of Kronstadt) on the formation of personal worldview in Russian society. The analysis is based on the testimonies of the contemporaries and the previously not reissued publication of “Novy Put” (“New Way”) journal on the subject. In the context of the declared problematics, special attention is paid to the question of transformation of religious consciousness in the course of the personality formation in relation to the period under consideration (the beginning of the 20th century). The author reveals and analyzes the main components of the life stand of Tolstoy and Father John of Kronstadt in the context of their influence on contemporaries.
