In this paper, the decision-making character of shura, the consultativedemocratic concept in an Islamic social order, will be shown to clearly definethe determination of both state variables (socioeconomic variables) and policyvariables and the simulative interactions between them. These variables willthen be shown to configure the consumption, production, and distributionmenus in an Islamic political economy. They will thus be shown as clearlydefined variables that help to formulate the social choice, the social welfarefunction, and the institutional decision-making problems in an Islamic politicoeconomicorder.Shuratic Decision Making in the Perspective ofOrganizational TheoryThe Islamic shuratic (i.e., based on shura) decision-making process isthe centerpiece of organhtional behavior in Islamic institutions. The followingis a technical explanation of this process in light of modem organizationaltheory:’(a) Shura is structured into representative decision makers fromvarious walks of life (“sharees”).(b) “The abstract nature of each individual task” is carried outby ijtihad and the interpretations and implementation of theShari’ah (Islamic law) to various socioeconomic problems ...

The objectives relating to the optimization of the environment conservation involve the determination of biotope sensibility, valuation and forecasting of the landscape sustainable development and excessive anthropogenic loads, assessment of ecological risks and possible adverse consequences, analysis of conflicts, choice of methods for protection and development of the territory, determination of proportions between the agricultural lands and priority trends in land use, compromise decision-making and elaboration of methods to bring in correspondence the interests of land owners. These tasks are solved on the basis of landscape functional analysis. The major ecological functions are the following: bioecological (biotopic and biocenotic, bioproduced, bioenergetic, biogeochemical, concentrated, oxidation-reduced, destructed, activated-inhibited, sanitary); atmospheric (gaseous, heat exchanged, hydroatmospheric); lithospheric (relief-forming, lithological); hydrological and hydrogeological ones. Based upon the identification and assessment of ecological functions of landscapes the social-economic functions are determined to meet the requirements of the human society.

That individual preferences may he aggregated into a meaningful collective decision using the Condorcet criterion of majority choice is one of the central tenets of democracy. But that individual preferences may not yield majority winners is one of the classic findings of the social choice literature. Given this problem, social choice theorists have attempted to estimate the probability of Condorcet winners, given certain empirical or theoretical conditions. We shall estimate the probabilities of Condorcet winners and intransitive aggregate orders for various numbers of individuals with strong or weak preference orders across various numbers of alternatives. We find, using computer simulation, a stark contrast between these estimates assuming strong individual preferences and the estimates allowing for individuals' indifference between pairs of alternatives. In contrast to earlier work, which depends on the strong-preference assumption, we suggest that the problem is most acute for small committee decision making and least acute for mass elections with few alternatives.

The management of zakat in relation to economic empowerment means that zakat as an asset of an Islamic economic institution, zakat is a source of strategic potential funds for efforts to build the welfare of the people. Because of that, the Koran gives a sign that the zakat collected is managed appropriately and effectively. The purpose of this research is to describe how the management and distribution of zakat to improve the social welfare of society. The type of research used in this research is library research or library research conducted by collecting data or scientific papers aimed at the research object. The results of the discussion in the article are; 1) in the process of managing zakat, it can be realized seriously, of course, this needs to be supported by good management, as was done in the early days of Islam. Managing zakat effectively and efficiently needs to be managed properly. Therefore, the management of zakat provides the application of modern management functions. 2) Zakat must be distributed to mustahik under Islamic law. 3) the distribution of zakat is carried out based on a priority scale, with due observance of the principles of equity, justice, and territoriality, and 4) Zakat is distributed through two distribution models directly or consumptive zakat, and indirect distribution, namely productive zakat.

We introduce and discuss the problems of intertheoretic incomparability and merely ordinal theories. We then introduce the analogy between decision-making under moral uncertainty and social choice, and explain how this analogy can help us to overcome these problems. The rest of the chapter is spent fleshing out how this idea can help us to develop a theory of decision-making under moral uncertainty that is applicable even when all theories under consideration are merely ordinal, and even when there is neither level-nor unit- comparability between those theories. We consider whether My Favourite Theory or My Favourite Option might be the right theory of decision-making under moral uncertainty in conditions of merely ordinal theories and incomparability, but reject both of these accounts. We defend the idea that, when maximizing choice worthiness is not possible, one should use the Borda Rule instead.

The problem of Islamic economics is also increasingly complex with the large number of banks. To meet the needs of transactions, banks have products that are offered to the public. In accordance with the function of the bank, namely collecting and distributing funds to the public. The purpose of channeling funds by Islamic banks is to support the implementation of development, improve justice, togetherness and equal distribution of people's welfare. This paper will answer what is the meaning of al-mashaqqah tajlib al-taysir and how do the Implications of al-mashaqqah tajlib al-taysir in the development of Islamic economy? The result of research shows that the meaning of the rule of al-mashaqqah tajlib al-taysir is the difficulty of bringing convenience. The point is that if implementing a provision of shara' mukallaf faces obstacles in the form of difficulties and limitations that exceed the limits of reasonable capabilities, then the difficulty automatically creates relief provisions. In other words, if we find difficulty in carrying out something that is to be sharia, then the difficulty becomes a justifiable cause to facilitate in carrying out something that is to be provision of sharia, so that we can continue to run the sharia of Allah easily. The implications raised by the rules of al-mashaqqah tajlib al-taysir are the determination of the law of Islamic financial institutions. This impact is seen when Islamic law allows transactions in Islamic banking financial institutions, so that the community will easily meet the needs by transacting with Islamic banking through contracts that have been agreed upon. Keywords: al-Mashaqqah Tajlib al-Taysir, Islamic Economic Development

This research investigates the social changes concerning Islam's revitalisation, which was constructed by the movie Ketika Mas Gagah Pergi (KMGP). The research criticises structuration theory, which does not accommodate religion as part of social changes, especially in making new social changes. The researcher utilised semiotic logic by using the process of meaning or signification, which comprises signs or representation, object, and interpretant. The researcher also conducted in-depth interviews with filmmakers to understand the context from which the texts were produced. As a result, it was discovered that KMGP utilised signs to construct social changes through the act of wearing a veil, Islamic religious music, and the prohibition of shaking someone's hands which is not his/her mahram (legal spouse or guardian based on Islamic law), the separation of men and women in a wedding occasion, and other new rules which were previously not familiar in society. Nevertheless, to legitimise the new rules in these particular social practices, KMGP often used structure resources. For example, Gagah legitimated his action by referring to the tradition of Sundanese (one of the Indonesian tribes) to the prohibition of shaking a non-mahram’s hands. This is supported by hadith (speech, attitude, and behaviour of Prophet Muhammad) about this particular action. This movie also proved that the rules of Islamic religion became an important element that changed social order, especially in Indonesia. Keywords: Movie, Indonesian Muslim Society, social changes, structuration, representation.

In Islamic law, there are many approaches to ethical issues. The best-known examples of this are the zakat tax on money and property as well as the prohibition of riba. Only an examination of the basic questions concerning money makes it possible to fundamentally understand economic thinking in Islam. This work deals with the social and market relevance of money and its significance in terms of contract theory. In this way, the author focuses on a topic that has so far received little attention in ‘Islamic economic theory’. His findings are based on an interdisciplinary examination of numerous primary sources. The main results of this book relate to the exchange of goods and the prohibition of riba as well as partnership (sharika) and profit-sharing (mudaraba).

In the current article, the authors describe an applied procedure to support collective decision making for applications in agriculture. An extended 2-page abstract of this paper has been accepted by the EFITA WCCA congress and this manuscript is an extended version of this submission. The problem the authors are facing in this paper is how to reach the best decision regarding issues coming from agricultural engineering with the aid of Computational Social Choice (CSC) and Argumentation Framework (AF). In the literature of decision-making, several approaches from the domains of CSC and AF have been used autonomously to support decisions. It is our belief that with the combination of these two fields the authors can propose socially fair decisions which take into account both (1) the involved agents' preferences and (2) the justifications behind these preferences. Therefore, this article implements a software tool for decision-making which is composed of two main systems, i.e., the social choice system and the deliberation system. In this article, the authors describe thoroughly the social choice system of our tool and how it can be applied to different alternatives on the valorization of materials coming from agriculture. As an example, that is demonstrated an application of our tool in the context of Ecobiocap European project where several decision problems are to be addressed. These decision problems consist in finding the best solutions for questions regarding food packaging and end-of-life management.

What explains white male animus against Asian women? We address this question by examining the murders in Atlanta, GA, which reflect a larger global pattern of violence against what are perceived as hypersexualized Asian women. Dominant discourses on these murders promote either a narrative of racial xenophobia or a stance for or against sex work. Neither discourse adequately accounts for the simultaneous racial and gendered determination of Asian women’s experiences. In this commentary, we provide a racial–gender analysis and underscore how the gendered racialization of Asian women as hypersexual can result in their perception as disposable bodies for white male rage. As we explain, hypersexualization implies immorality, which in turn threatens the social order and thereby justifies Asian women’s disposability. This commentary establishes Asian women’s hypersexualization as a century-old view in American society perpetuated in cinema and the law.

ABSTRACTThis paper presents a part of the theoretical-methodological perspective used in a communication research. This experience took part in Rio Cuarto, argentinian city of 180,000 habitants during the period 2007-2013. This paper presents a part of the theoretical-methodological perspective used in a research experience in communication. This experience took place in an intermediate city in Argentina during the period 2007-2013. We asked ourselves how circulate, how are installed and how are spread certain conceptions associated to the social order, also conditioning certain practices. We argue that all these factors influence on the decision-making on public affairs but also they configured part of the widespread social sense. Focused on a strategy based on the most important milestones (identify by public policies), we could comprehend the manner in which senses are tensioned regarding the type of society that argue them (idea of order). The objective of this presentation is to share some of the theoretical and methodological decisions of the experience that took place with the purpose to open a series of possibilities to encourage new investigations about communication and public policies, in order to approach the diversity of the social conflicts. KEYWORDS: Controversial milestone; memories; social order.
