Abstract Purpose: This study discusses the idea of political redefinition and its connection to dignity, freedom and equality in a sovereign state. This article concludes by briefly touching on some serious issues about sovereign communities that arise as a result of the fundamental dignity, freedom, and equality ideals of the sovereign state. Research methodology: The author decided to conduct theoretical research in a qualitative format using conceptual analysis as well as critical and rational argumentation. A deductive approach is used in reaching a prior opinion. Results: The sovereign state itself became the judge and restricted human dignity, equality and the freedom to contract by forcing citizens to make transfers they did not consent to and prohibiting certain private transactions on the sole pretext. Limitations: There are shortcomings in theoretical research, as the author used a deductive approach to conclude. Contribution: This study conceptualizes the proponents of a sovereign state to be drawn into the dilemma of dignity, freedom and equality.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the factors that enable total quality management (TQM) implementation in the readymade garment (RMG) sector of Bangladesh. More specifically, the present study is a supplement of the previous call from research to investigate the TQM-enabling factors from a broader aspect of organizational change. Design/methodology/approach This study was conducted through an online survey, followed by phone calls. Data were collected using a questionnaire survey with 256 respondents of the Bangladeshi RMG sector. The TQM-enabling factors were divided into five distinct groups, based on strategic or overall changes required within an organization for TQM implementation. A theoretical research model was created to investigate the contingency of various TQM-enabling factors. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was applied to confirm the factor that enabled TQM implementation in the RMG sector of Bangladesh. Findings The main finding of this study shows that structural, strategic, contextual and human resource-enabling factors are significant to TQM implementation in the Bangladeshi RMG sector. Research limitations/implications This study has been completed in single time frame. Therefore, consideration of the time factor is completely ignored in this research. Furthermore, understanding of TQM-enabling factors in this research relied on quantitative findings only. Also, this study was limited to one industry and one geographic region. However, this study could determine whether data triangulation will provide a good perception on enabling factors and the methodology can be extended to other industries and regions. Practical implications This study provides a research methodology for other manufacturing industries that are planning to implement TQM in their organization. This research will contribute to the existing literature by examining the contingency of various TQM-enabling factors in the context of the Bangladeshi RMG sector, and it, therefore, provides direction to increase the success rate of TQM implementation. Furthermore, the research methodology can be used in other studies for variation of contextual variables such as size of the industry, developed or underdeveloped country and manufacturing or service industry. Originality/value The methodology used in this study can lead the way for other industries in the RMG sector that implements TQM in their organization. Also, this research further contributes to the existing literature by investigating the contingency of various TQM enabling factors in the context of the Bangladeshi RMG sector and developing associated strategies to raise success rate of TQM implementation.

Research background. The notion of tolerance is used in various contexts, but nevertheless it remains ambiguous. The very fact that educators, politicians, and philosophers again and again face questions about the meaning of value term “tolerance”, stresses the vivid necessity of continuous attempts to elucidate the notion of tolerance at the theoretical level.Research aim was to provide relevant arguments for the thesis that tolerance is a context dependent notion and therefore the claims about tolerance “in general” are ambiguous, uninformative, and non-instructive.Research method. Our research methodology was philosophical reflection involving conceptual analysis and the application of the outcomes to education sciences.Research results. If we are to understand and define the concept of tolerance, we need a broader understanding of what is good and what is bad, understanding of what behaviour is expected from us under certain cultural circumstances.Discussion and conclusions. 1. In religious context, tolerance is a respectful attitude towards beliefs and practices of others – attitude which, in fact, can be grounded either by dogmatism or by scepticism. 2. In political context, emphasis is laid not on what others believe or think, but on what people do. 3. There is one common feature of tolerance conceptions which take shape in inter-religious discourse and in politics: it is believed that it is quite easy to understand the motives of actions performed by “others”; such understanding (“empathy”) is the main condition for tolerance. 4. In ethics and education, tolerance is the measurement (or objective assessment) of our beliefs keeping in mind possibilities of their alternatives. In this respect, tolerance is the realization of human rational nature. Keywords: tolerance, tolerance education, autonomy, ethics, rationality.

This article reviews the data collection process. This process is of crucial importance because data offer empirical answers to theoretical research questions. Although the literature provides a wealth of instruction on the treatment of already collected data, far less has been written about the selection of the data. The present view focuses on this overlooked portion of research methodology. An actual illustration is used to demonstrate the factual decisions and procedures that may be used in any data collection process.

The purpose of the article is to present the results of a pilot study of the problems of disabled convicts that arise during their period of adaptation to prison conditions. The author seeks to explain in the article what impedes the effective adaptation to prison conditions of such a specific category of prisoners as the disabled; what difficulties they face, what their attitude to the environment and to other people is, what their wishes and motives are. What was used as a research methodology was a questionnaire which had been developed by the author. The results of the research allowed us to analyse the difficulties that the convicts of this category face at the initial stage of serving their sentence in the correctional facility and to compare the data obtained with the results of theoretical research. The content of the article allows solving two main tasks – theoretical one, to formulate criteria of adaptation of disabled convicts to conditions of imprisonment; practical one, to outline ways to improve pedagogic support of the process of their adaptation.

Overlapping and problems arise because of the issuance of the certificate of management rights Number 91/Sungai Selincah in the name of PT Pelindo II. That HPL certificate overlaps HGB certificates owned by PT RAI, HGB certificate Number 100/Sei Selincah and HGB certificate Number 101/Desa Sei Selincah. BPN issued PT Pelindo II's HPL certificate on January 6, 2012. With the issuance of the HPL certificate of PT Pelindo II, which overlaps HGBs of PT RAI, BPN was unable to extend PT RAI's HGB certificate for those two plots of land previously owned by PT RAI, prompting PT RAI to file a lawsuit in court. The research employs a normative juridical research methodology that includes a statutory analysis, a case study, and a conceptual analysis. Findings of the research show that the issuance of PT Pelindo II's HPL certificate was following applicable regulations (UUPA, UUCK, PP 24/1997, and PP 18/2021), and no provisions were violated. However, PT Pelindo II's HPL Certificate that overlaps the PT RAI's HGB has administrative defects. Regarding the judge's decisions and legal considerations, the District and High Court's was not following the provisions of Article 27 paragraph (1) PP 40/1996, which was still applicable at that time. The Cassation and Judicial Review's decisions in Supreme Court demonstrate the cancellation of the District and High Court's decision due to the judge's negligence in applying the law as specified in the applicable laws and regulations.
BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT:

This paper showcases an innovative student research project in a South African taught Masters programme, where students learnt to apply a sound research methodology in the real world, and align their work with a global research project. The Fairwork (https://fair.work) project assesses the extent to which gig work platforms in a number of countries conform to ‘fair work’ principles for their workers. The Fairwork project has a clearly defined and rigorous research methodology used by senior academics around the world to rate labour-broking platforms such as those in e-hailing (Bolt, Uber) or delivery services (UberEats) to rate their adoption of fair work principles for their workers. The University of Pretoria adopted this research methodology in the context of a student-based group project in a taught 2020 “Digital Economy” Masters programme. Student groups used the same methodology and interviewed South African platform workers to score seven different platforms. The key motivations and intended benefits were that the research methodology was already tried and tested, students should able to apply the skills taught in an earlier (theoretical) research methods course, subject specific knowledge around the gig economy had to be researched and was internalized, each group had the freedom to select its own platform, results could be validated against publicly available ratings, students engaged themselves in real world empirical research, and their research outputs had a real world relevance. In addition, this project turned out to work well under Covid19 partial lockdown circumstances. The student submissions exceeded the expectations of everyone involved, and some groups produced research results which matched the level of highly experienced researchers. This project also provides a strong contribution to the academic community, not only because it provides a validation benchmark and alternative research approach to the Fairwork project, but also because this project is easily portable to similar courses in other country contexts.
