scholarly journals An Experimental Technique to Determine the Permissible Warp Tension Variation At the Required Pick Density

Weaving is considered to be the most versatile means of manufacturing fabric. Due to versatility, process control is mandatory to ensure the quality of the woven fabric becomes a diverse task with a broader scope. With the advent of technology speed of weaving has been drastically increased due to which variation in warp tension becomes an inevitable fact for value-added technical products. Further, variation in warp tension results in different pick density which causes a shade variation due to different amounts of dye penetration along with the fabric. Maintain constant pick density throughout weaving is considered as the most important aspect. The pick density is greatly affected by the warp gaiting tension at which the fabric is woven and experiment results revealed that the warp gaiting tension is considerably changed when the beam is weaved down. Authors attempt to statistically analyze the quantitative relationship between the warp gaiting tension and the pick density. However, due to the high level of variability of warp gaiting tension along the warp with slightly scattered nature of experimental data, setting up a relationship with adequate accuracy is beyond achievable. Hence the warp gaiting tension is first grouped using a statistical technique and established the relationship for each group. The level of accuracy for each model is evaluated at 95% of the confidence interval and thereby determined the permissible tolerance in warp gaiting tension under which the required pick density could be still achieved.

Abstract Family caregivers of older people living with dementia are relatives, friends, or neighbors who provide assistance related to this condition, but who are unpaid for the services they provide. Although caregiving could be personally rewarding, many caregivers report a high level of strain. Compared to caregivers of older adults who do not have dementia, family caregivers of older people living with dementia report lower quality-of-life (QoL). In a published systematic review examining the relationship between family caregiver QoL and the quality of care provided, only one study was found to be somewhat relevant. The study suggested that the primary reason for an absence of research into the link between family caregiver QoL and quality of care was the absence of a questionnaire for measuring quality of care in dementia. Therefore, any attempt to investigate the impact of caregiver QoL on the care provided to older people with dementia must first address the lack of an instrument to measure quality of care. To address this issue, we interviewed approximately 20 family caregivers in order to elicit feedback on measurements and interpretation of the quality of care provided by family caregivers of older people living with dementia. Content analysis of the interview transcripts revealed that the quality of relationships with family, caregiver availability to provide or supervise care, and availability of paid or volunteer help are important for the quality of care provided. These results have important implications, particularly for the development of an instrument to measure quality of care in dementia.

Over the years, managers are being faced with the challenges of how to handle issues relating to high rates of employees’ turnover due to increasing competition in the global market. Not only that, retention also affects the performance and productivity of any organization if not managed adequately. It is against this backdrop that this study examined the influence of workforce retention strategies on corporate development in Nigeria. The study used primary data collected through a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistical techniques were used to determine the frequencies and percentages of demographic reports of the respondents, while inferential statistical technique of product moment correlation coefficient (PPMC) was used to analyze the relationship between workforce retention strategies and corporate development. Findings however revealed that there is a significant influence at p<0.05 of workforce retention on corporate development. The result indicated a positive relationship between staff retention (r=0.553) on corporate development in Nigeria. The study confirmed a number of conclusions and recommendations. Aspect revealed which most likely to influence job satisfaction and bring about workforce retentions are; appropriate compensation and reward system, high level of communication, training and development and ultimately good work environment. Finally, for a sustainable corporate development, management should work towards ensuring a proper alignment of different retention practices with staffs’ value and needs. Also, all staffs at different cadres, should be treated with utmost fairness and equity.

Abstract Stabilizing certified nursing assistant (CNA) employment is necessary for maintaining care networks and providing high quality of care for nursing home (NH) residents. This study’s objective was to examine the relationship of high wages and empowerment practices on CNA retention. We used the 2015 Ohio Biennial Survey to construct a facility-level dataset of 547 NHs and estimated multivariable linear regressions. NHs that provided both high wages and high empowerment were associated with a 12.95 percentage-point improvement in the CNA retention rate (SE = 4.53, t-value = 2.86, p = 0.0045). High wages and a high empowerment score did not have significant effects individually (p > .05). Retention rates were similar between NHs that lacked high wages and scored low on the empowerment scale, and NHs that provided one at a high level but not the other. Implications for better retaining CNAs require multiple empowerment practices combined with high hourly wages.

Harmonization of the relationship between society, economy, and nature requires both the development of more environmentally friendly technologies or restrictions on its exploitation, as well as a change in the way of life and work. This is particularly about improving the quality of work to reduce energy consumption and/or pollution. In this context, the issue of the organizational climate that determines job satisfaction and increasing cooperation towards sustainable development is of particular importance. The article presents the results of research on the organizational climate carried out on a selected group of students employed in textile industry enterprises. The analysis of the results allows us to state the high assessment of the climate at work in its individual spheres and a high level of trust in the management of the organization.

Choosing rational design parameters of the coupling device for multi-section aggregation of seeders, it is possible to ensure full loading of the power unit while maintaining quality indicators of the technological process at a sufficiently high level. Foreign aggregates are not suitable for use in the Russian Federation due to the different soil and climatic conditions. Purpose of the study: to develop an effective device for multi-section aggregation suitable for domestic modern seeding machines. Subject of the research: the relationship of design parameters and modes of operation of the device for multi-section aggregation of seeders with indicators of the technological process of sowing. A monographic survey of known structures has been carried out, a device for multi-section aggregation of seeding machines has been substantiated by the design and construction method, indicators of the technological process of sowing have been experimentally obtained. The developed coupling device for multi-section aggregation consists of a central frame resting on the wheels and articulated side sections: left and right, which fold when transporting the seeding unit. The total working width of the seeding unit is up to 12.5 meters. According to the research results, the quality of the technological process by the seeding devices meets the regulatory requirements. The instability of the total seeding (0.6–1.1 % for barley and 0.4–0.7 % for wheat) is within the tolerance (up to 3 percent); uneven seeding between devices 3.9–4.2 percent (barley) and 2.6–4.2 percent (wheat) corresponds to the norm (up to 5 percent). The number of seeds embedded at a predetermined depth of the soil corresponds to the required (not less than 80 percent) and was 81.8–83.9 percent for barley and 80.1–83.3 percent for wheat. Not embedded seeds were found in the soil.

Already in the Middle Ages, in times of the first universities, education was an important source of knowledge and social status. Nowadays, education, together with its quality and level of teaching, is used as a means of pursuing national interests abroad, as well as influencing local elites, and sometimes even a larger population. High level and good quality of education is one of factors contributing to the relationship between states. The role of education as regards international prestige and the position of individual states has risen in recent years chiefly due to major changes in the global economy and a corresponding shift of values, values which have become important for the modernization of societies. Thus, education has become increasingly important, especially due to the growing significance of knowledge in the globalized world. Education has become an increasingly important factor in international relations and it translates into the soft power of a state.

Crowdsourcing delivery is becoming a prevalent tool for tackling delivery problems by building a large labor-intensive service network. In this network, the delivery personnel consist of a large number of people with a complex composition and high level of mobility, creating enormous challenges for the quality of service and the management of a crowdsourcing platform. Hence, we attempt to conduct a competence analysis to determine whether they can provide promised services with high quality, i.e., they are competent for their job. To this end, the competence theory is introduced, and a multicriteria competence analysis (MCCA) approach is developed. To illustrate the MCCA approach, a real-world case study is conducted involving a Chinese takeaway delivery platform, where the Bayesian best-worst method is used to determine the weights of the criteria based on the data collected from managers of the platform company. Also, the competence scores of the personnel involved are collected through surveys and data sources of the company. Given the weights and the competence scores, we use additive value function to identify the overall competence scores of them, which reflects the level of competence for their job. The results show that Skills is the most important competence, while Knowledge is the least important of the four competence dimensions. In subcriteria, four core elements are identified such as punctuality, customer service awareness, responsible, and goods intact. In addition to the importance of criteria, a ranking of a sample of personnel is provided, and almost half of the crowdsourcing delivery personnel’s competence is below the average and vary significantly, while the relationship between the competence level and some other variables is also discussed. Moreover, the developed MCCA approach in this paper can be applied to analyze the competence of personnel in many other industries as well.

Drawing on job embeddedness theory, this study investigates how and when the industrial relations climate influences employees’ preference for particular labour dispute resolution procedures. Analyses of multisource and multilevel data from China show that organizational embeddedness mediates the relationship between the industrial relations climate and preference for internal dispute resolution (IDR) and this indirect effect is stronger in organizations with a high level of turbulence. These findings provide novel theoretical explanation of the linkage between the industrial relations climate and employees’ preference for IDR and highlight the interactions between the industrial relations climate and organizational turbulence. Practical implications are also offered to facilitate employees’ preferences for IDR by improving the quality of the industrial relations climate.

Market liberalization has accelerated and strengthened the pressure of competitors in an open struggle for the retention of existing and favor of new clients. It is necessary to understand the importance and necessity of good business communication, because if business communication in the organization is at a higher level, then the relationship between the organization and its clients is at a higher level as well. Employees in the organization are the ones who represent it, so if the internal communication in the organization is at a higher level, then the quality of services provided to clients is also at a higher level. Effective communication between organizations and customers enables an organization to achieve its goal, which is that it is positioned in the market as a modern organization that provides quality and services of high level.

This study aimed at examining the effect of an employee's sense of psychological well-being at work and the quality of social work relationships (the relationship between colleagues and the relationship with superiors) on the level of job commitment; the study was conducted on 80 police officers working in the Police College (Qatar), four measures were used to measure study variables. The regression analysis results indicated a positive correlation between the sense of psychological well-being at work and career commitment to the high level of social relations at work. Note that this study makes a set of significant contributions to the Arab work environment, whether at the theory or practice level. The study's most important results indicate the necessity of giving social work relations the appropriate attention, given its significant role in several organizational and individual outputs, which departments are rarely interested in.
