The article is devoted to one of the problems of foreign language education – the definition of the role of interpretation in preparing students of special (language) directions to participate in the dialogue of cultures. Interpretation is considered as a phenomenon and as a way of comprehending reality, which allows the subjects of the dialogue of cultures to reach mutual understanding. The main characteristic of interpretation, which is necessary for the purposes of foreign language education, is its psychological character. It is determined by the psychology of the author, the psychology of the work, as well as the psychology of the reader-interpreter. It is proved that the interpretation of a work of art, which has universal, historical and personal plans, has huge epistemological and axiological possibilities. They activate the entire educational potential of interperetation (educational, developmental, cognitive, and educational). Russian Russian poet A. A. Fet (1820–1892) uses the poem “Wir saßen am Fischerhaus” by the famous German poet and publicist Heinrich Hein (1797–1856) and the translation of this poem into Russian to illustrate the interpretation technology. The poem is considered as a space of personal meanings of the author. They are the ones that are subject to interpretation and bring the reader-interpreter back from the poet's world to the modern real world. And the real world is full of unexpected cultural facts, closely related to the content of the work of G. Heine, with distant Lapland and the life of modern lapps. Thus, interpretation is presented as an educational strategy. Together with the strategies of contextualization, philologization and argumentation, it ensures the achievement of the main goal of foreign language education – the creation of an individual who can act as a genuine subject of the dialogue of cultures. The article also emphasizes the importance of the teacher as the organizer of the educational process and the subject of the dialogue of cultures.

Today, the issue of developing the principles of selection and organization of the content of the emotional component of foreign-language education, which can change the value preferences not only of the individual, but also of society, is becoming urgent. The leading approach to research in this article is axiological (emotion- and value-based). The culturological nature of foreign-language education is closely related to the educational process's value foundations, which emphasize innovative aspects of linguodidactics. The inclusion of cultural values in the foreign-language educational process contributes to the development of students' value orientations, as well as their emotional and volitional sphere. The logic of the presentation of the material in the article suggests solving a number of interrelated tasks: to describe private methodological principles of selecting the content for this component, to present the principles of its organization, to describe the holistic system of selection and organization of the content of the emotional component of foreign language education in secondary school. The described principles of selecting the content of the component in question are focused on the motivational personal aspects and value-based senses of foreign-language education, and are aimed at achieving its personal results. These are the principles of holistic reflection in the content of foreign-language education of the objectives for a harmonious development of personality and formation of a student's basic culture, emotional significance of the content of speech material, its problematic nature, relevance of the complexity of the content to learners' actual learning opportunities, individualization. To give the component the ability to work in any conditions of the foreign-language educational process, its sub-components should be built in accordance with the principles of functional systems organization: actualization of characteristics aimed at achieving the goal of the system; neutralization of dysfunctions in the process; concentration of actualized functions of all sub-components to obtain the result while giving them some lability to ensure the dynamism of the system. The principles of selection and organization of the content of the emotional component are presented as a hierarchical whole. It has a specific composition and contains the description of their functioning, the key function, and the functioning environment. This system requires an activity component of foreign-language education that is adequate to the content of the emotional component. Its characteristics will be presented in the authors' further studies.

The article sets out to establish the ways in which the Romanian novelistic production between 1845 and 1947 reflects the challenges and accomplishments of successive efforts at modernising the educational system. Therefore, the case-studies we discuss are focused on some of the major implications of Romanian education: the shifts in the literal spaces in which the educational process is being conducted, the access to books and the social prestige accrued through reading, the link between education and the abroad – including the ambivalent status of foreign language education as platform on which the conflict between nationalism and cosmopolitanism is played out –, the opportunities opened by scientific progress, but also the anxieties it generates.

Substantiated is the thesis for necessity and possibility of using the social cultural resources of Moscow city to establish an educational environment suitable for building intercultural communicative competence when teaching students foreign languages from the perspective of the intercultural approach. As a key point, the authors put forward the thesis that it is regional culture which is the only one available to the student to abide and understand by their national native culture (which comes equal with learning a foreign language culture within the goal-setting of intercultural foreign language education). At the same time, Moscow is grounded as a resource space for intercultural foreign language education, being a place for building the social environment and communication relations, the center of the regional level of native culture, and the city of intercultural communication. The authors define the related educational urbanistics as interdisciplinary field of designing socio-humanitarian knowledge and experience in the context of the mutually enriching integration of urban space and value-specific (educational) trajectories of personal development of the citizen. As a result, the authors formulate the basic principles of urban educational environment in the context of foreign language intercultural communicative training of students, including the following: knowledge of the universal (global) through the single (local), methodological work with space as a resource and a factor in educational activity design, taking an educational environment as an individually perceived value, designing individual educational trajectory on the basis of mapping, contextual learning, the priority of spontaneous meaning-making, a conscious distinction between education and vocational training.

AbstractBy adopting “functional plurilingualism” – a recurring concept in its new curriculum, “Lehrplan 21” – Switzerland is pursuing new avenues in foreign language education. The term refers to a goal-oriented approach to foreign language learning and teaching in primary and secondary schools, and implies that barriers to communication can be overcome by exploiting the sum of the individual’s linguistic capacities. In future, language learners will be expected to build on the interrelatedness of languages instead of developing abilities in languages that they keep separate from one another. This view of foreign language education coincides with the recommendations of the Council of Europe’sHaving reached the highest level specified by the CEFR, some learners continue their studies, seeking to maintain or reinforce their competences or to address individual weaknesses. In this article, a group of C2+ learners of German as a foreign language reflect on their desire for linguistic perfection and the notion of “functional plurilingualism” against the background of their own biographies. These learners have a high awareness and knowledge of German (often their third language) and of the learning process, which allows them to make informative statements. The data was analysed qualitatively and subjective theories were reconstructed – an approach that took account both of the multiperspectivity of the topic and of the uniqueness of the individual cases.
