Introduction: Morphometric study of Olecranon process and Trochlea of humerus in Adult population of Telangana region. Materials And Methods: The study was done on 120 dry Adult Humerus of unknown age and sex collected from the Department of Anatomy, Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, Telangana state. Results: Maximum width of Right and Left Olecranon process of humerus were 30mm and 34 mm respectively while the minimum width of olecranon process of humerus were 22mm on right and 24mm on left side. Mean width of olecranon process of humerus were 26 mm on right side, 29 mm on left side . Maximum length of Right and Left Olecranon process of humerus were 20mm and 20 mm respectively while the minimum length of olecranon process of humerus were 15mm onright and 16 on left side. Mean length of Olecranon process of humerus were 17.5 mm on right side, 18 mm on left side . Maximum width of right and left Trochlear process of humerus were 30mm and 30 mm respectively while the minimum width of width of right and left trochlear process of humerus were 18mm onright and 22 on left side. Mean width distance of trochlea of humerus were 24 mm on right side, 26 mm on left side. Conclusion: The knowledge of Morphometric study of Olecranon process and Trochlea of humerus is important for anatomists, It is also helpful for orthopaedic surgeons in distal end fracture of humerus and its reconstructive surgery for various implants.

<p><strong>Background:</strong> The axis vertebra, exhibits complex and extensive variability in the morphology and there are vital neurovascular structures in its proximity. Knowledge of this variability is important for neurosurgeons, orthopaedicians, otorhynologists and other physicians who in everyday practice are in contact with disorders of the spine and their consequences.</p><p><strong>Objective:</strong> The aim was to evaluate various morphometric dimensions of axis vertebrae and to compare with the available data.</p><p><strong>Material and Methods:</strong> 50 dried human axis vertebrae of Indian origin, available in the Department of Anatomy, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana were studied. Various dimensions were taken with vernier calipers, metric scale and graph paper. The dimensions were measured in millimetres and statistically analysed with paired t-test.</p><p><strong>Results:</strong> The mean of maximum anteroposterior diameter (max.APD) and maximum transverse diameter (max.TD) of Superior Articular Facet (SAF) was measured as 17.42mm±1.73 and 15.31mm±1.44 on the right side, 17.64mm±1.51 and 15.17mm±1.48 on left side. The mean Distance from Lateral most edge of SAF to Midline was measured as 22.56mm ± 2.37 and 22.40mm ± 2.16 on the right and left sides, respectively. The mean Distance from Tip of Transverse Process to Midline was 26.45mm ± 2.85 on the right and 26.03mm ± 2.64 on the left side. The mean Height of Dens was measured as 13.83mm ± 1.52, mean Width of Dens as 9.57mm ± 0.85. Width of Pedicle was measured as 10.52mm ± 1.99 and 10.61mm ± 1.67on right and left sides, respectively.</p><p><strong>Conclusion:</strong> The knowledge of these dimensions can provide useful information for safe planning of osseous fixation.</p>

AlliumhookeriThwaites belongs toAmaryllidaceae family is one of the most important medicinal plants, enormously used in cancer or inflammation because it contains large amounts of sulfonylmethane.It is also used to treat coughs, colds, fatigue and to recover immunity. Karyotypic study showed that somatic chromosome number is 2n = 22. Only nearly sub median and nearly median chromosomes are found in the complement. Karyotype formula = 1 nsm(-)+ 10 nm=2n=22. The total length of long arms is 60.36 µm, ranging from 3.16µm to 8.23µm. Total length of short arms is 31.57µm, ranging from 1.75µm to 4.11µm. The total length of the chromosome is 92.17µm, ranging from 4.78µm to 12.35µm. Relative chromosome length ranges from38.70µm to 100 µm. Arm ratio ranges from1.70 to2.38.Tf %= 41.63.Centromeric index ranges from 0.40 to 0.28 and The total chromatin index is 100, ranging from 5.18 to 13.40. Anomocytic type of stomata is observedStomatal index and stomatal size were calculated. The maximum length (53.6±2.06µm) was observed in basal portion of the adaxial surface and the minimum length (45.2 ± 1.40µm) was observed in the middle portion of abaxial surface. The maximum width size (24.8±1.11µm) was observed in the basal portion of the adaxial surface and the minimum width was (18.8 ± 1.14µm) at the middle portion of the abaxial surface. Stomatal index 12.63±0.5) maximum and minimum (6.13±0.40) was observed.

AbstractThis study provides trends in obesity prevalence in adults from 2013 to 2016 in France. 63,582 men and women from independent samples upon inclusion from the Constances cohort were included. Anthropometrics were measured at Health Screening Centers and obesity defined as a Body mass index (BMI) ≥ 30 kg/m2; obesity classes according to BMI are as follows: class 1 [30–34.9]; class 2 [35–39.9]; class 3 [≥ 40 kg/m2]. Linear trends across obesity classes by sex and age groups were examined in regression models and percentage point change from 2013 to 2016 for each age category calculated. All analyses accounted for sample weights for non-response, age and sex-calibrated to the French population. Prevalence of obesity ranged from 14.2 to 15.2% and from 14 to 15.3% in women and men respectively from 2013 to 2016. Class 1 obesity category prevalence was the only one to increase significantly across survey years in both men and women (p for linear trend = 0.04 and 0.01 in women and men respectively). The only significant increase for obesity was observed in the age group 18–29 y in both women and men (+ 2.71% and + 3.26% point increase respectively, equivalent to an approximate rise of 50% in women and 93% in men, p = 0.03 and 0.02 respectively). After adjustment for survey non-response and for age and sex distribution, the results show that class 1 obesity prevalence has significantly increased in both women and men from 2013 to 2016, and only in young adults in a representative sample of the French population aged 18–69 years old.

Introduction: Placenta is a temporary structure, developed during Pregnancy and discarded at Parturition. Human Placenta is of Discoid and Haemo-Chorial type. It connects the foetus with the mother's womb. It is formed by the contribution of two Individuals - both Mother and Baby. At 1 term four- fth of Placenta is of foetal origin and one- fth is of maternal. Along with Amnion, Chorion, Allantois and Yolk sac, Placenta can also be considered as one of the foetal membranes, which acts as Nutritive and Protective to the developing Embryo. Method: - The present study was done on morphology and morphometry of 150 placentae carried at the Department of Anatomy, Basaveshwara Medical College & Hospital (BMCH), Chitradurga. The placentae were collected with prior ethical clearance and proper consent. Soon after the delivery the placental surface was washed thoroughly under running tap water which were then weighed, tagged and brought to the department of Anatomy, BMCH. The parameters like size, shape and attachment of umbilical cord were noted down. Gross examination was carried out according to the proforma. Result: - The maximum number of placentae belong to the range of 501-600 gms (38.7%). Least placental weight is recorded as 205 gms, showing dispersal pattern. The maximum recorded weight is 835 gms and the average being 491.4 gms. The majority of the placentae are discoid (63.3%). The minimum length recorded is 8.9 cms, maximum as 23.80 cms and the average being 18.3 cms. Conclusion: - Careful examination of Placenta can help in explaining adverse outcomes, their management in subsequent pregnancies and assessment of new born risk.

Aim: To establish the reference values of hematological parameters in blood donors of all the four provinces of Pakistan as a general population. Methods: This was a multicenter cross-sectional study conducted from Jan 2017-Oct 2017 in the blood bank and the Dept. of Haematology, The CH&ICH, Lahore, Fatimid Foundation, Karachi, Bolan medical college, Quetta, Armed Forces Institute of Transfusion, Rawalpindi & Ayub medical college, Abbottabad, KPK. Blood samples of 1060 male and female blood donors were collected from the blood banks of all the centers mentioned above. CBC and differential were performed using an automated hematology analyzer in the respective departments. Results: The mean and 95% reference values (2.5th-97.5th) for males WBC 7.752+4.506×109 cells/L, RBC 4.958 +1.331, HB 14.258 +3.423 g/dl, HCT 41.967 +16.345, MCV 84.584 +15.933, PLT 219.485 +197.331, LYM 3.346 +10.112, NEUT 6.843+23.557, MONO 0.811 +3.601, EO 0.327 +0.995. For females WBC 7.174+3.037, RBC4.567 +1.086, HB 12.972 +2.752, HCT39.647 +48.186, PLT 264.07+175.079, LYM 2.537+5.005, NEUT 4.769+11.314, MONO 0.460 +0.909, EO 0.188+0.39 Conclusion: The hematological profile of the population in all four provinces of Pakistan differed from the reports of other countries and the standard reference ranges described in the textbook. So, our own hematological parameters must be followed. More studies must be carried out on other age groups and even on adults to strengthen our results. <p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> The antero-inferior recess of the ear canal is not visible to the otologist, thereby effecting proper placement of the graft and thereby affecting its uptake .The visibility of this region in the adult population is assessed.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> The quadrants of tympanic membrane were examined in 60 subjects with perforated tympanic membrane undergoing tympanoplasty. The study was conducted in the department of ENT-HNS (ear, nose and throat-head and neck surgery), Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana.  </p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> With the microscope in 48 (80%) entire perforation could be visualized and in 12 (20%) margins were not in the line of view. 5 perforations were posterior superior and 12 were total perforations. Otoendoscope examination with zero degree could show the entire margin of the perforation.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> In 80% population the antero-inferior quadrant of the tympanic membrane is accessible to straight vision of the microscope.</p>

Background: Consumption of alcohol among adults is a serious public health issue worldwide. However the knowledge of adverse effects of alcohol consumption on human health is very negligibly less in small towns and villages of India. Present study was conducted to determine the extent of alcohol intake and the knowledge of its adverse effects on human health among adult population.Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out on randomly selected 400 rural adults from a field practice area of private medical college, Udaipur.Results: Prevalence of alcohol consumption was found to be (47.25%) with (49.36%) males and (39%) females. More than half of drinkers (55.9%) were belonging to 30-39 age group. Country liquor was preferred by (68.88%) and only (17.77%) consume English (IMFL). (56%) of alcohol consumers were drinking alcohol for more than a year. Most of the drinkers (49%) were induced by their friends, (24%) were induced/influenced by their parents. (42.25%) drinkers had knowledge of harmfulness of alcohol drinking; however the awareness per se did not have statistically significant effect for alcohol consumption. Results showed that the knowledge of excessive intake of alcohol can cause harmful effects on human health like Infertility to woman, irregular menstrual cycle, cancer were statistically significant (p<0.05) gender wise, while effects like depression, sleep disturbances, alcoholic hepatises, liver disease, malnutrition were statistically not significant (p>0.05).Conclusions: There is a need to enhance awareness on adverse effects of alcohol and at least bring down consumption level among heavy drinkers through peer group/family/community involvement.

A new species of colubrid snake, Lycodon cathayasp. nov., is described based on two adult male specimens collected from Huaping Nature Reserve, Guangxi, southern China. In a phylogenetic analyses, the new species is shown to be a sister taxon to the clade composed of L. futsingensis and L. namdongensis with low statistical support, and can be distinguished from all known congeners by the significant genetic divergence in the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene fragment (p-distance ≥ 7.9%), and morphologically by the following combination of characters: (1) dorsal scales in 17–17–15 rows, smooth throughout; (2) supralabials eight, third to fifth in contact with eye, infralabials nine; (3) ventral scales 199–200 (plus two preventral scales), subcaudals 78; (4) loreal single, elongated, in contact with eye or not, not in contact with internasals; (5) a single preocular not in contact with frontal, supraocular in contact with prefrontal, two postoculars; (6) maxillary teeth 10 (4+2+2+2); (7) two anterior temporals, three posterior temporals; (8) precloacal plate entire; (9) ground color from head to tail brownish black, with 31–35 dusty rose bands on body trunk, 13–16 on tail; (10) bands in 1–2 vertebral scales broad in minimum width; (11) bands separate ground color into brownish black ellipse patches arranged in a row along the top of body and tail; (12) elliptical patches in 3–6 scales of the vertebral row in maximum width; (13) ventral surface of body with wide brownish black strip, margined with a pair of continuous narrow greyish white ventrolateral lines. With the description of the new species, 64 congeners are currently known in the genus Lycodon, with 16 species occurring in China.
