This research aimed to know the effectiveness of storytelling strategy to improve the students’ reading comprehension at second grades of MTs Al-Marif 1 KabupatenSorong. Storytelling was one of the good strategy in teaching learning process especially in teaching reading, because it can make the student was easier to understand about the text/story. In this research, the researcher used Quasi-experimental design. The subject of this research was VIIIC as experiment class that consist of 30 students: 16 males and 14 females, and VIIIB as control class that also consist of 30 students: 15 males and 15 females. The instruments were collected by using test (pre-test and post-test). The form of the test was essay and true false question. After giving the pre-test to students, the researcher gave the treatment and the steps in teaching learning process were: (1) the teacher divides  the student into four groups, one group consist of 7-8 students; (2) the teacher divides the story of narrative text in each group; (3) teacher tell the story by using gesture, tone of voice and movement in the text/story; (4) after tell the story, teacher writes the questions the whiteboard; (5) teacher gave 15-20 minutes in every group to discuss the answer of the questions, then teacher ask one of students in each groups to read their answers. After giving the treatment, the researcher gave the post-test. The researcher used  to analyze the result that the students got. Based on the finding in this research, the researcher can conclude that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected  or it can be said that Storytelling Strategy was effective to improve the student’s reading comprehension at the second grade of MTS Al-Ma’arif 1 KabupatenSorong. It was supported by the result which show that the value of  was 2,356 and the value of from the df (58) on degree of significance of 5% was 2.00. Reading is one of the important skills that the students have to master. However, many students have difficulties in comprehending the reading text. To solve this condition, the researcher used schema activation strategy to help students understand reading comprehension. The purpose of this research was to investigate whether the use of schema activation strategy is effective or not in teaching reading comprehension at the second-grade students of MTs Tarbiyatul Mustafid in academic year 2017/2018. This study was quasi-experimental design using two classes were VIII B class was taken as an experimental class, and VII-A was taken as control class. The population of this research involved 60 students from the second grade in MTs Tarbiyatul Mustafid Batu Simpang. By using purposive sampling, the researcher took the students as a sample. In collecting the data, this study used pre-test, treatment, and post-test as the data collection procedure then followed by analyzing the data by using the t-test formula. Then the result of statistical analysis of t-test in this research was 2.85. It was higher than critical values for t- table in the degree of freedom (df) of 58 is 2.021(0.05%) and 2.704(0.01%). The researcher concludes that mean score before and after teaching by using schema activation strategy has a difference. It means the alternative hypothesis (ha) was accepted. The use of schema activation strategy in teaching reading comprehension at the second-grade students of MTs Tarbiyatul Mustafid Batu Rimpang is effective.

This research aims to see the students’ speaking skill before and after learning process by using expression card media at the second grade of SMA Negeri 1 Parepare. The results of the research are useful for the teacher and students. The teacher should aware that it is important to supplied the technique or strategy before teaching and the students also can be easier to express their ideas, make the students more active in learning process. The subject of this research is XI IIS4 class which is consisted of 30 students. The sample was taken by using simple random sampling. The design in this research was pre-experimental with pre-test and post-test design. The student did the pre-test, got the treatment and did the post-test. Then the criteria of speaking skills are fluency, accuracy, content, pronunciation and they were usedto measure the students’ speaking skill. It aimed to know whether using expression card media can improve the students’ speaking skill. The result in this research was indicated that there was improvement of the students’ speaking skill. It was indicated by the students’ mean score of post-test (73.3) was greater than pre-test (41.9). Even, for the level significant (p) 5% and (df) = N-1=30-1=29, and the value of table is 1.699, while the value of t-test is 16.18. it means that, the t-test value is greater than t-table (16.18 ≥ 1.699). Thus, it can be concluded that the students’ speaking skill is significant better after getting the treatment. So, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is fail rejected.

The objective of this study is to measure whether there is or not significant effect of teaching reading by utilizing Hot Potatoes software toward students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text. The variables used were the teaching treatment of Hot Potatoes Software as the independent variable and the students’ reading comprehension of Descriptive Text as dependent variable. Then, the research designed was Quasi-experimental design and the presentation of data used was quantitative. The data were obtained from the eleventh grade, of which 28 students were taken as sample. The students are divided into two groups; experiment group consisted of 12 students and control group consists of 16 students. To get the data, the pre-test and post-test were applied and then analyzed using t-test formula. The researcher had concluded that there is Significant effect of Hot Potatoes Software toward the students’ reading comprehension achievement. The result showed that mean of students’ post-test was increased. It is proved by the t-test (8.54) which is higher than t-table (2.05) at level of significance 5%. It means that the alternative hypothesis was accepted and it proved that Hot Potatoes Software had significant effect toward students’ reading comprehension of Descriptive Text

This study attempted to improve the students’ reading comprehension achievement in descriptive text through Team Games Tournament (TGT) method. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class IX SMP PAB 10 Medan Estate which consisted of 25 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and the first cycle consisted of four meetings the second cycle consisted of two meetings. The instruments for collecting the data were quantitative data (reading evaluation) and qualitative data (diary note, observation sheet and interview sheet). Based on reading scores, students’ score kept improving in every evaluation. In the test I the mean was 65,33, in the test II the mean was 71,72 and the test III the mean was 84,54.Based on diary note, observation sheet and interview sheet, it was found that teaching-learning process ran well. Students were active, enthusiastic, and interested in reading. The result of the research showed that Team Games Tournament (TGT) method significantly improved students’ achievement in reading comprehension especially in reading descriptive text.

This research is aimed to find out the effect of definitions toward students’ vocabulary mastery: it was an experimental study at the second grade student of MTs NW Haqqul Yaqin Sayang- sayang. The subject of this research was the second grade of MTs NW Haqqul Yaqin Sayang- sayang.The research was used experimental method with quantitative approach. The population of this research consist of 55 students, and the sample is 29 for experimental group while 26 for control group. The technique of collecting data was used definition for experimental group and matching word with antonym for control group. The data was collected by using post-test only and the data was analyzed by t-test formula. Based on data analysis the mean score of experimental group was 76,4 and control group was 69,23, beside of that standard deviation for experimental group was 114,28 and for control group was 113,09 and the value of t-test was 2,44 and t-table was 2,000. Degree of freedom is 53 with significant level 0,05. It means that the value of t-test was higher than t-table (t-test ˃ t-table). The alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Thus, the conclusion of this research was there was an effect of definition toward students’ vocabulary mastery: an experimental study at the second grade students of MTs NW Haqqul Yaqin Sayang-sayang.

The aim of the study was  to  analyze  and  describe  the  process of  improving students’ listening skill for eleventh grade students of MAN 1 Majene, West Sulawesi Province through  watching English movies. The subject of this research is XI Agama 2 Class that consisted of 16 students. The method used in this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which the writer works  collaboratively with the English teacher. The results in this study indicate that there  was  improvement of the students’ skill listening. Most of the students gradually gained good scores at the end of the cycle. The data were collected from a questionnaire, observation note of performance, pre-test and post-test. The study was conducted with cycle model through the steps of planning, conducting, observation, and reflection. The results of this study show a significant relationship between students' learning by English movie with delay subtitle related to their listening skills as shown in their improvement of post- test and positive responses of students than  E nglish movie  with not delay. The questionnaire shows that more than 75% students felt easy to understand listening materials from native speakers. Consequently, it was suggested that teaching learning process using English movie with English subtitle is recommended  into  learning  process  to  improve students' listening skills in English language classroom. In conclusion, watching English movie can improve students listening skill.

Being able to read in English is very important. Success in reading is the most necessary because it is a basic tool of education. Based on the syllabus of Islamic Senior high School Hidayatul Mubtadiin (MAHM), it is hoped that students should comprehend monolog texts in narrative, spoof and hortatory exposition forms well. After doing preliminary observation at MAHM, some of the students of the second year still had low ability in their reading comprehension. The dominant factors influencing their low reading comprehension are the lack of vocabulary and teaching strategy of reading comprehension. From the two of dominant factors, the researcher is interested to investigate about teaching reading comprehension. Thus, the researcher conducted a research on the effect of Multipass strategy on Reading comprehension. This research investigates students’ reading comprehension taught by using multipass strategy at MAHM Siak Sri Inderapura. The design of this study was Quasi-experimental research by post-test only. The subject of this research was the second year students of MAHM. The total population was 42 students, and the sample was 42 students. Data were collected by using a test. Then, the data were analyzed by using t-test formula. It was found that there was a significant effect of using multi pass strategy on students’ reading comprehension at MAHM.

The problem that we need to be solved in the world of our education is the weak learning process. The learning process in the classroom is still directed at the child's ability to memorize information. While biology requires logical and reasonable learning to be accepted and absorbed by the brain so that it can last long. The aim of the research is to know the influence of course review horay learning toward student’s of cognitive learning class ten in the subject matter cell in MA Sabilul Hasanah Kecamatan Sembawa Kabupaten Banyuasin. This research method used quasi-experimental design with a quantitative approach research pretest-posttest control group design. The sample is taken by using purposive sampling techniques. The sample was grade XI MIA 2 as an experimental class and class XI MIA 1 as the control class. The instrument used in this research is a test to measure student’s cognitive learning about the cognitive categories C1-C4. Data analysis use the t-test, data on the calculation difference average posttest both groups earned value t-test much as 4,806 while value t-table with significant level5% with degrees of freedom (dk) 42 is equal to1,684, it can be said that t-test > t-table means the alternative hypothesis (Ha) be accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) rejected. It can be concluded that there is a significant influence of course review horay learning toward student’s of cognitive learning class eleven in the subject matter cell inMA Sabilul Hasanah.

The aim of this research was to find out whether jumbled texts have any effects towards students’ ability in writing. This study was experiments research and used pre-test and post-test non-equivalent group design of quasi experimental design. The population of this study was all students of the second grade at SMPN 3 Tanjung and the sample was two classes which consisted of 22 students of each class. To analyze the data this study used descriptive statistic and inferential statistic. The finding of this research showed that the t-test was 3,416 > t-table 1, 682. The mean score of experimental and control group was 760>60,59. It can be concluded that alternative hypothesis was accepted and null hypothesis was rejected and jumbled texts was effective toward students’ ability in writing.Keywords: Jumbled Texts, Ability, Writing

Introduction. The English language is a mandatory subject in elementary, secondary, and higher education in Ecuador. To become proficient, a broad knowledge of grammar is needed because it is considered the backbone of a language. Objective. This research aims to implement graphic organizers in the teaching-learning process of grammar tenses. Methodology. This inquiry took place at a university of Riobamba with a target population of 62 A2 level students. A quasi-experimental research, was carried out with 31 students that were the experimental group and the same number of students as the control group. A pre-test was applied to both groups to evaluate their grammar skills. After that, both groups were given a post-test to determine if the graphic organizers implemented made any improvement on the students’ performance regarding grammar tenses. Results. The post-test results demonstrated that the competence of the experimental group students has been enhanced after implementing graphic organizers. Conclusion. The students were able to clear up their ideas and to establish better relationships between graphical and cognitive demands.
