Community and family empowerment activities are classic activities that are currently still underestimated by many parties, but this is still relevant and urgent when linked to community service programs. This community service program is proven to have a direct impact on efforts to improve the quality of life of the community, especially for disadvantaged families or disadvantaged families. Through this paper, the authors raise several positive aspects that can be obtained from several stages of the implementation of community service conducted by Padang State University in Nagari Lubuk Jantan Tanah Datar Regency. The focus of the activity is the empowerment of pre-prosperous family economies through the utilization of family resources and yards. The election of Nagari Lubuk Jantan is based on the consideration that this area is relatively many target groups or communities that are still underdeveloped in various aspects of life, especially in the education aspects, social aspects, and cultural aspects, and low levels of welfare, while they have relatively large family members as well as large yards that are not used optimally. The results of these community service activities have a significant impact, including: increased public knowledge about family problems and potential, the community gets an understanding in increasing family income through the management of family resources, and skills in improving the family economy by choosing and cultivating plants of economic value in the yard around residential areas, especially for economically weak communities. It is expected that all parties, including universities, regional governments, the private world, and community leaders, can increase their awareness of the family empowerment program, especially in optimizing the utilization of the potential of family resources such as human resources, family assets and time. Therefore, in the future, a variety of scientific studies and a more comprehensive service program breakthrough and totality related to efforts to improve the quality of the family will lead to a more dignified prosperous family. Keywords: Family Resources, Disadvantaged Families, Yard

There are, however, variations in the patterns of their activities among those whose husbands are traditional independent fishermen and those whose husbands are wage labourers, but using relatively modern technology. The traditional independend fishermen perform more actively to supplement the family income compared to the other one. Working is considered as part of their lives. The side job they do is only to accomodate their spare time, but the money they have from it is not enough to fullfil the family economic.

Woman: a Breach of the Paradigm of Reproductive FunctionAbstractBefore the occurred changes it is sought a new configuration in the countryside, seeking to diversify the products and agricultural and non-agricultural activities, since both are configured able to promote the inclusion of farmers in their work. In this context of changes, arise pluriactivities seeking financial support to families, with respect to be a supplemental element in family income, thus creating a better quality of life and setting these families in the countryside. In this regard it is noted the importance of analyzing the women’s role front the development of pluriactivities in the field, because today it is seen a change in the women’s role in the rural family context. Women were seen only with reproductive role, and this role was played only in the domestic ambit and it is related in synthesis  to housework and child care, while for men it is the productive role because they are directly linked to the development of agriculture and cattle raising, activities that are generating cash income. This paper seeks to investigate the paradigm break of the women’s reproductive function from development of pluriactivities. For this it was used the literature as a methodological procedure, so that the authors based on books, scientific articles and governmental documents. It has been found through research that rural women are increasingly entering in the labor market through the development of pluriactivities, so additional income is generated to the family by women's work, so that the woman beyond having the reproductive role has the productive too, by the fact that it generates income through its performance in the development of non-agricultural activities.

The study was conducted at Satrya Market,Sanglah Market, Kreneng Market, and Badung Market, which were all purposivelydetermined. The samples were taken using the accidental sampling technique, totaling40 and were purposively determined. This research uses Cobb-Douglas function withtransformed data. The independent variables were X1 (the price of the bulk cooking oil),X2 (the price of the packaged cooking oil), X3 (the price of chicken), X4 (the number offamily members), and X5 (the family income). The result of the model was as followslnY = -5,876 – 2.184lnX1* + 3.588lnX2* - 0.332lnX3 + 0.311lnX4* + 0.244lnX5*. Thefactors which contributed to the demand for the bulk cooking oil were its price, the priceof the packaged cooking oil, the price of chicken, the number of family members, andthe family income.
