Pets have conquered the daily lives of families worldwide and because they have a close relationship with humans, they can transmit mycotic zoonoses such as dermatophytosis, malassezioses and candidosis. Studies show that fungi with pathogenic potential have already been granted in clipping instruments and bath articles in veterinary clinics and in Pet Shops. In the absence of data in the city of Sinop - MT, this study aimed to isolate fungi with pathogenic potential in clipping instruments used in the routine of Pet Shops and to identify etiological agents capable of causing mycotic zoonoses. Samples were carried out in 18 clipping instruments, without cleaning, from 10 Pet Shops (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J) in the city of Sinop - MT with swabs and sterile carpets square and then seeded in Sabouraud agar with 0.05% chloramphenicol and mycobiotic agar, incubated at room temperature (25°C) for 30 - 45 days. The dermatophytes and non-dermatophyte filamentous fungi were identified using the microculture technique and urease test and as yeasts using a urease test, zymogram, auxanogram, germ tube and corn meal agar with polysorbate 80. Of the samples from 18 clipping instruments, 15 were positive for at least one fungal genus. The yeast that showed a high prevalence of isolation in clipping instruments from the studied Pet Shops (B, C, D, E, H and J) was Malassezia pachydermatis (86.7%), followed by the genus Candida spp. (C and D; 26.7%), filamentous fungi of the genus Aspergillus spp. (A; 13.3%), Microsporum canis (B; 13.3%) and Trichosporon spp. (J, 6.7%). Our results demonstrate that Pet Shops treat a large number of animals daily in a single environment, which may amplify the risk of spreading zoonoses, as an asymptomatic or sick carrier animal can potentially transmit the microorganism to other animals inside the store and thus to a large number of new pet owners. There is a need to reinforce the commercial requirements specialized in bathing and grooming in the city of Sinop - MT on the good practices of cleaning and disinfection of the elements used and the environment, eliminating or eliminating the risk of contracting mycotic zoonoses.

Abstract The availability of long-read technologies, like Oxford Nanopore Technologies, provides the opportunity to sequence longer fragments of the fungal ribosomal operon, up to 6 Kb (18S-ITS1-5.8S-ITS2-28S), and to improve the taxonomy assignment of the communities up to species level and in real-time. We assess the applicability for taxonomic assignment of amplicons targeting a 3.5 Kb region (V3 18S-ITS1-5.8S-ITS2-28S D2) and a 6 Kb region (V1 18S-ITS1-5.8S-ITS2-28S D12) with the What's in my pot (WIMP) classifier. We used the ZymoBIOMICSTM mock community and different microbiological fungal cultures as positive controls. Long amplicon sequencing correctly identified Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Cryptococcus neoformans from the mock community and Malassezia pachydermatis, Microsporum canis, and Aspergillus fumigatus from the microbiological cultures. Besides, we identified Rhodotorula graminis in a culture mislabeled as Candida spp. We applied the same approach to external otitis in dogs. Malassezia was the dominant fungal genus in dogs' ear skin, whereas M. pachydermatis was the main species in the healthy sample. Conversely, we identified a higher representation of M. globosa and M. sympodialis in otitis affected samples. We demonstrate the suitability of long ribosomal amplicons to characterize the fungal community of complex samples, either healthy or with clinical signs of infection.

This study explores the influence and sociocultural meaning of self-management of South Korean sports stars in the context of their social media activity. The study utilizes netnography to analyze social media posts to determine the meaning of sports stars’ self-management. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with study participants. Ten South Korean sports stars, who are active users of Instagram, were selected as the study participants. Photographs, videos, and stories from their accounts—around 1800 posts in total—were analyzed. The results indicated that the sports stars attempted to share their daily lives on social media to build a close relationship with the public. Moreover, they used their accounts to publicize their commercialized selves and to promote their sponsors. They uploaded only strictly composed and curated posts on their accounts as a form of self-censorship. Finally, it was determined that digital labor was used for self-management on social media, where there is no distinction between public and private territory. A sports star has become a self-living commercial today, and self-management is now a prerequisite for survival. Thus, self-management on social media has become a requirement for sports stars.

INTRODUCTION: Fungal infections in human skin, such as sporotrichosis, can occur after fish induced trauma. This work aimed to identify fungi in freshwater fish that are pathogenic to humans. METHODS: Extraction of dental arches from Serrassalmus maculatus (piranha) and Hoplias malabaricus (wolf fish), stings from Pimelodus maculatus (mandis catfish), dorsal fin rays from Plagioscion spp. (corvina) and Tilapia spp., for culture in Mycosel agar. Some cultures were submitted to DNA extraction for molecular identification by sequencing ITS-5.8S rDNA. RESULTS: Cultures identified most yeast as Candida spp., while sequencing also permitted the identification of Phoma spp. and Yarrowia lipolytica. CONCLUSIONS: While the search for S. schenckii was negative, the presence of fungus of the genera Phoma and Candida revealed the pathogenic potential of this infection route. The genus Phoma is involved in certain forms of phaeohyphomycosis, a subcutaneous mycosis caused by dematiaceous fungi, with reports of infections in human organs and systems. Traumatizing structures of some freshwater fish present pathogenic fungi and this may be an important infection route that must be considered in some regions of Brazil, since there are a large number of a fisherman in constant contact with traumatogenic fish.

This study aimed to determine the occurrence of Candida spp. in the oral cavity of predominantly breastfed infants and in their mothers' mouths and breasts, as well as in the oral cavity of bottlefed infants and in non-lactating women. One hundred and sixty nine women and eighty-five milk-fed infants took part in this study and were divided into four groups: 1) infants predominantly on breastfeeding (n = 55) and their mothers (n = 55); 2) infants on bottlefeeding (n = 30); 3) non-lactating women on whom oral collections were performed (n = 80) and, 4) non-lactating women on whom breast collections were performed (n = 34). Oral and mammary swabs were cultured on Sabouraud agar dextrose with chloramphenicol. The Candida yeast strains found were isolated and identified through morphological and biochemical tests. Candida species were much less frequent in infants who were predominantly breastfed than in those who were bottlefed. Yeasts were much more frequent on the breasts of lactating women, with statistical difference in relation to the control group.

The present study is one of the unpublished research projects which are known to have been conducted in New England and in Eastern Canada under the guidance of the late Richard J. LOUGEE, long-time professor of Geomorphology at Clark University. Over a number of years, this writer has worked in close relationship with Lougee and much evidence in the field was studied together. It is believed that here has been recorded a most detailed work of surveying, and this undoubtedly accounts for the somewhat exceptional results that will be presented. The area selected for this study (about 80% of it is woodland) is located in the highlands of Central Massachusetts in Worcester County, about twenty miles (32 kilo-meters) northwest of the city of Worcester. It consists of the valley of the Otter River draining north, and of a small portion of the East Branch of the Ware River draining south. Since completion of this study, parts of the low area which held the ancient glacial lakes have been flooded to become water reservoirs. That proglacial lakes, though temporary they may have been, once submerged much of the area under study, is shown by an abundance of deltas, kames, eskers and deltaic kames terraces. It is believed that all of these were built under water in such lakes. Other features, such as kettle-holes and glacial outlets, especially ice-marginal channels cut diagonally down the slope, have also been studied. By plotting on a profile of the most characteristic elevations (often carefully surveyed), it is possible to find the water planes of ancient proglacial lakes. To this must be added experiments conducted in a sedimentation tank as also measurements of both the imbrication of cobbles in eskers and the « smoothness indexes » of such stones and pebbles, using A. Cailleux' methods. Thus were obtained results which tend to show that : 1- the area under study probably was in a deep interlobate space created between the Connecticut Valley lobe to the west and the Boston Basin lobe to the east ; 2— ice-marginal channels are an indication of the existence of a thick, fast-retreating ice border ; 3- an isostatic balance restored itself by sometimes quick and strong adjustments of the crust of the earth ; 4— an early upwarping, made up of various zones of tilting articulated on hinge lines, has been referred to as Hubbard Uplift and is the earliest known in the post-Glacial history of New England.

When they are disregarded as citizens, people on the street seem to be invisible with regard to their rights, while in their daily lives their presence causes discomfort, generating the inverse of invisibility. This work, when undertaking tourism as a social right, describes how the tourist experiences of a group of homeless people - assisted by a public social assistance agency, in partnership with a UFF extension program - took place, which they visited tourist attractions in the metropolitan region of Rio. In addition to contact with authors / research that dealt with the reality of people living on the streets, the theoretical basis intertwined the themes of the Right to Leisure and the City, the Tourist Experience and Social Tourism. The analyzes carried out from ethnographic bases, including participant observation and interviews with a semi-structured script, indicated that tourist experiences seem to have aroused affective memories that work for this group as a means of resistance to the condition in which they find themselves. Even so, some experiences were crossed by serious situations of prejudice and discrimination, directed by conventional visitors to the group.

The spread of dermatophytosis among animals and humans in the localities of Ukraine in particular in the city of Kharkiv is due to the presence of range of the most susceptible animals. This information mainly concerns dogs and cats that can be affected by dermatophytosis and may be a reservoir of dermatophyte fungus. Particularly important is that domestic dogs and cats represent a significant epidemiological threat to the population. The purpose of the research was to monitor the morbidity of dermatophytosis in domestic dogs and cats in Kharkiv. Diagnostic studies of dermatophytosis morbidity level determination in domestic dogs and cats were performed complexly including the clinical and epizootic data, microscopic and mycological laboratory tests conducted according to generally accepted methods (Kovalenko et al., 2017; Sutton, Fothergill and Rinaldi, 2001). Dermatophytosis was diagnosed among 231 animals in the study of 1,277 domestic dogs kept by the inhabitants of the city of Kharkiv which was in 18.09% of samples. Dermatophytosis was also detected in 615 animals which constitutes 50.25% in the study of 1,124 cats. The cultures of dermatophytosis agent Microsporum canis were isolated from 126 dogs (18.98%) and 110 cats (40.74%). Trichophyton mentagrophytes cultures were isolated from 16 dogs (2.41%) and 16 cats (5.93%). The percentage of isolated cultures of mold and yeast-like fungi in the studies of sick dogs and cats were 38.55% and 22.25% respectively. Obtained results indicate quite high level of the dermatophytosis spreading among domestic dogs and cats in the city of Kharkiv.
