Abstract The present paper sheds light on the psychological structure of Simha Bin Zion’s A Broken Soul. After reviewing the biography of the storyteller, it is clear that the hero of the rebellious character in the story of (A Broken Soul) is the writer himself. The storyteller directly begins to depict his psychological sufferings in his childhood days. He tells a story full of sadness and refusal of the neglect he suffered in his childhood. It is obvious that the early five years of Samha bin Zion’s life is considered a period of conflict that participated in the formation of his individual identity. The story represents an outlet for a hidden secret world buried under the layers of his consciousness. It deals with the dark and dark side of the life of a Jewish boy in the Diaspora, and the tragic existence full of restrictions represented by the cruelty of the strict educational system in Al-Haidar; (the Jewish religious school) where Samha bin Zion was a neglected child and a victim of the father's control at home and the teacher in school. The aim behind such a rigid way of education is to bring him to the inelastic Jewish conventions. At his present stage of contemplation and after a long search for his true self, the writer reveals the frustration and instability he suffered.

BACKGROUND: Symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infection in children are nonspecific and shared with other common acute viral illnesses (fever, respiratory or gastrointestinal symptoms, and cutaneous signs), thus making clinical differential diagnosis tricky. In Italy, first line management of pediatric care is handed over to Primary Care Pediatricians (PCPs), who were not allowed to directly perform diagnostic tests during the recent COVID-19 outbreak. Without a confirmatory diagnosis, PCPs could only collect information on ″COVID-19 like symptoms″ rather than identify typical COVID-19 symptoms. AIM: To evaluate the prevalence of COVID-19 like symptoms in outpatient children, during Italian lockdown. To provide PCPs a risk score to be used in clinical practice during the differential diagnosis process. METHODS: A survey was submitted to 50 PCPs (assisting 47,500 children) from 7 different Italian regions between the 4th of March and the 23rd of May 2020 (total and partial lockdown period). COVID-19 like symptoms in the assisted children were recorded, as well as presence of confirmed/suspected cases in children′s families, which was taken as proxy of COVID-19. Multivariable logistic regression was accomplished to estimate the risk of having suspected/confirmed cases in families, considering symptoms as potential determinants. RESULTS: 2,300 children (4.8% of overall survey population) fell ill with COVID-19 like symptoms, 3.1% and 1.7% during total and partial lockdown period respectively. The concurrent presence of fatigue, cough, and diarrhea in children, in absence of sore throat/earache and abnormal skin signs, represents the maximum risk level of having a suspected/confirmed case of COVID-19 at home. CONCLUSIONS: The percentage of children presenting COVID-19 like symptoms at home has been remarkable also during the total lockdown period. The present study identified a pattern of symptoms which could help, in a cost-effective perspective, PCPs in daily clinical practice to define priorities in addressing children to the proper diagnostic procedure.

Despite the restrictions and controversies in Turkey’s educational system, the efficacy of the homework assignments on the student’s development is indisputable. Besides, what needs to be discussed is what kind of assignments should be given to students, and how they should be evaluated. The aim of this study is to investigate the views of science teachers about homework assignments. The survey method was preferred for this study. A questionnaire was developed by the researchers, and 100 teachers were reached online and via social media. The data obtained from the study were evaluated through quantitative and qualitative analyses. This study shows that the majority of the teachers do not support banning homework, and they consider it as necessary. Teachers mostly assign homework assignments for repetition and reinforcement. Project assignments and research presentation assignments are the most commonly assigned types of homework. Teachers give homework to students which they can do mostly at home spending 0–1 hours together with their friends. According to the teachers, homework provides the most benefits for reinforcement, repetition and learning. In the study, it was found that the majority of the teachers did not use portfolios. According to the teachers participating in the study, the factors that mainly affect student motivation are concentration, reluctance and insufficient knowledge. In order for students to develop their skills properly in the 21st century and be successful in international examinations such as TIMSS, their understanding of homework must also change to meet the requirements of the age.

The pursuit of growth has a dark side. The person who has a transformative self can too easily strive for growth in ways that are paradoxically counter to eudaimonic growth and that are harmful to the self and others. This chapter explores the dark side of the transformative self in four forms. First, perfectionism in its maladaptive forms involves impossible or otherwise unchecked ideals for perfection. Second, eudaimonic materialism values moral virtue and wisdom but veers toward moralism and intellectual self-adulation. Third, “wanting it all” aims for a well-rounded life but can manifest as a problem of overcommitment, for which cultural master narratives of success place women at particular risk. Fourth, in contrast, a never-ending search for meaning, or “ceaseless seeking,” involves an unrelenting pursuit of an idealistically true self or meaning in life and can manifest as a problem of undercommitment.

At the heart of the Gospel of Thomas lies the call to achieve an understanding of one's self (Logia 67-70). This call focuses the struggle of Thomas Christians by turning it inward as a challenge to understand their own true identity. Through this struggle they come to a knowledge of the Father. The significance of this theme of the search for the true self is examined further in the context of the Gospel of Thomas (Logia 3; 58; 111). From this study, it emerges that Thomas Christians experienced that they were strangers in a hostile world. Feeling alienated, they wished to escape rom the world. The positive outcome of this experience was a deeper self-understanding. This study culminates in an examination of this theme of the search for one's self in two other writings at home within early Syrian Christianity. In the Hymn of the Pearl (Acts of Thomas 108-113) the theme emerges in the allegory of the soul's quest for self-knowledge. The path to salvation is a search that ultimately takes one rom the world. In the Book of Thomas the Contender the same search for one's identity is emphasised (138:15-20 and 145:1-15). Finally, it is argued that this search for one's true identity is appropriate to the historical and sociological context of the Syrian Church in Edessa.

The article explores the trends in TV broadcasting of recent decades. Special attention is given to the latest period starting December 2013. The conclusion is made that TV producers and authors are set to pull audience with content spilling aggression and violence while talk shows and personals serve as an alternative to the dark side of life. The author investigates the telecommunication on the basis of academic views of national (M. Bakhtin, S. Bulgakov, J. Lotman) and foreign researchers (N. Luhmann, J. Habermas). Western thinkers from a new angle articulated ideas generated by the Russian philosophers and scholars who preached consensus in considerations and debates on the human spirit. The linguistic performance of the spirit should not develop by the way of surface formalization, just for show but should go along augmentation of spiritual significance of being. Much attention is given to analyzing the shift of attitude towards social and political journalism as a tramline in journalism. This is due to the fact that the value criteria in reflecting the objective reality are being lowered in TV media products both at home and overseas.
